Positioning Trayer with two screens in Openbox

So I have a 1920x1080 monitor on the left and a 1680x1050 monitor on the right. I use twinview and openbox.
In a perfect world I would like trayer in the bottom right corner of both screens, but I can only have 1 instance running. I don't know if it is possible to have a clone or something in another location but I have a feeling this isn't possible.
If the above can't be done, I would like trayer to be positioned in the bottom right corner of the 1920x1080 monitor.
I tried "--edge bottom --align center" but that was a little bit to the left.
I looked in openbox's rc.xml but it only seems to have xinerama support for placing windows.
Hopefully one of these two options is possible.

anyone?

I have recently installed Mavericks on my desk top and since then I have been unable to switch off my computer without crashing it. I work with two screen and now I seem to have the menu bar on the second screen as well which I did not have before.  Can you please help me?

Dr Bettina, I had similar problems with Mavericks. I installed it on a Mini and a 13" MacBook Pro. I can't speak to your disdplay issues, but I can confirm the inability to logout, shut down, or restarft without a forced, power button shut down. I can also report frequent System Prefs freezes and finder issues, like folder contents taking half a minuite or more to render, or not appearing at all. And while a few Adobe CC apps actually ran faster, InDesign ran like molasses uphill in Decemner.
I tried uninstalling or disabling numerous 3rd party apps and pref panes. I unplugged everything but the keyboard, ran DiskWarrier, repaired permissions, did fsck -f, trashed various preference files, reinstalled the OS... You name it, and I tried it — short of a potion using eye of newt.
After two days of totally hosed productivity, I restored OS 10.8.5 on the Mini so I could actually get some work done. However, I've decided to leave Mavericks on the MBP as a sort of crash dummy, and will install and thoroughly test all updates until stability has been achieved. Then — and only then — will I upgrade the Mini to Mavericks, even if it means waiting 'til a .2 or even .3 update.
    Good luck to you...

But when I update to the latest version of FF either 5 or 6 this does not work. Even if i try to open one instance of FF on second screen on USB GC , I cant see anything> i have to move it to the main screen to see the FF window and will not work on the extended screen. I am using windows 7 pro 32 bit and the screen resolution is set to 1280x1024 on both the screens.
    Can you please help.
    Thanks.

    Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • X11 on Leopard not working with two screens.

I have two screens on my Mac Pro and just upgraded to Leopard. X11 starts up on the main screen and any new X11 windows start up on that screen, which is fine, but then the window can not be moved to the other screen.
The window will overhang onto the second screen, but as you drag it over the window stops moving at the point that the mouse cursor reaches the edge of the main screen. The mouse cursor keeps going but the window stops.
Even if you then click on the portion of the window that is on the second screen, you can not then drag it the rest of the way into the second screen.
In Panther and Tiger I was able to move windows to the second screen.
    Message was edited by: scm2000

I have also found that X11 does not work with 2 or more screens. I can not drag an X-Window to the 2nd screen at work (well maybe a few pixels onto the 2nd screen, that is all).
And I can not use the -geometry option on X-Windows based applications to position an X-Window onto the 2nd screen, it always ends up on the screen with the Menu Bar.
And this worked so wonderfully on Panther and Tiger.
I use my PowerMac G5 with dual 18" monitors at work. I develop kernel level software for Linux and Windows. I'm using X11 all day long when working with Linux systems both local and 2000 miles away (work has some nice in house bandwidth).
Being restricted to just a single monitor is a major limitation for my job. Having Mac OS X X11 support made it practical for me to use my Mac at work. Otherwise, I would have been forced to use a Windows box.

  • Macbook Air with two screens?

I would like to connect two external screens (Apple Cinema Display + Apple Thunderbolt Display) to one Macbook Air - what the best solution?
    best regards

If you have the MacBook Air (Mid 2012) and later, it will support two extrernal displays.
    <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5219?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#18>
A Mini DisplayPort display won't work plugged directly into a Thunderbolt display
    <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5219?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#20>
but will work if you connect a Thunderbolt dock or disk drive (with two Thunderbolt ports) between the displays.

  • Ho can I use left / right dock position when using two screens?

OSX 10.9 makes a big thing about having the Dock on the active screen.  This certainly works when the Dock is at the botom of the screen, although it does seem sluggish at times before it appears.  I have tended to have my Dock on the left of the screen as I was getting annoyed at losing the bottom part of the screen on my MBP 13".
Mavericks doesnt seem to like this and regardless on how I configure the second screen I can't get the Dock to jump away from the MBP screen, apart from closing the lid on my laptop.  Still happening when I put the two screens vertically rather than horizontally (so that the left side of the screen is not a transition zone between the two).
This is quite frustrating.  I have tried using Dock at bottom again and am just going to struggle with that having not used it for many years now.
I wonder whether they have just assumed that most people have the Dock at the bottom and functionality has been built around that.
Any ideas out there?  Apple, any comments?

Hello again Kirby, I was able to find a workaround that prevents colors from looking overly vibrant on the external display. It seems the "Swap Displays" option under Aperture's monitor configuration drop-down is the culprit. When this is disabled, colors on both monitors match in vibrancy (as much as one can expect given how different the two screens are). But as soon as you enable "Swap Displays", colors on the external display become twice as vibrant. So then the question becomes, how does one show the thumbnail viewer on the laptop screen while viewing the fullscreen image on the external display?
The workaround is along the lines of what you posted. In dual-monitor mode, Aperture places the thumbnail viewer by default onto whichever screen holds the system menubar. So by placing the system menubar on the laptop screen, I'm able to work in fullscreen mode in the configuration I want without having to activate "Swap Displays", thereby avoiding the boosted colors bug.
I'll be sending the issue to Apple Feedback now that I have a better understanding on what exactly causes the issue and how to replicate it. Thanks again Kirby for your assistance.

  • Grub2 with two screens only shows up on one

I have recently installed Arch, and kudos, everything works almost perfect out of the box so to say. I had few hickups with some hardware, but everything resolved just fine in less than few hours thanks to magic of Google and Arch Wiki. As you probably guess I am quite new to Arch, but I am kind-a noob in disguise since I have beem Redhat user since around version 5.1 of their "Fedora" predecessor. Anyway I still consider myself a newbie since I have always been more of a user less of sysadmin/tweaker. I am a programmer and don't really care much about os internals as long as everything *just works*.
Now I have installed Arch on a laptop with external screen attached to it and have troubles with GRUBs boot screen not showing up on 2nd monitor. Boot menu only shows up on a built-in laptop screen, not on external one, There are no problems with my monitors, everything works as intended once system boots to X, however I can't get GRUB to show up on both screens. As my setup considered, I use this laptop as a dekstop replacement, so it sits on a shelf below my desk and since I don't see laptop screen at all, you understand, it is quite of inconvenience :-).. I have external monitor, keyboard and a mouse attached to it to VGA and usb ports so it really don't feels as laptop at all. I have managed to confiugre window managers to turn off laptop screen after login (shame to waste power and burn pixels if I can't see them), but I can't manage to get GRUB to show up on external monitor. Of course I have Arch as default so it boots into Arch anyway, and Windows is just below so I can blindly switch to windows by just pressing one arrow key, but I still have to look below the desk just to pick the right timing to press the arrow key for those rare occasions when I have to boot into windows :-). And most notably: I never had this problem with GRUB before and yes I had Fedora installed on this system as well.
I am using grub in text mode, I don't care for fancy splashes at boot time and so on.
I have googled quite a bit and seen that other people also have this issue, but I haven't seen any good answer yet. On one forum there is an answer that GRUB can't see the 2nd screen at boot time since it speaks only to BIOS (or uefi better to say), but I don't think its true. I am using my 2nd screen without problems in uefi bios mode, and windows boot mngr shows just fine on both screens, so it must be some setting for GRUB that I can't find.
I hope I am asking question in proper section, if not feel free to move it around.
Thanks in advance fo help and hope you don't mind my noob question.
    PS:
Of course easiest way woud be to just format c:\ to ext4 and not need to boot into Windows at all, but alas, I do make money on guess what: programming VBA and automating databases with Access and Excel - I can tell you, vba programmers seem to be an extinct art so there is money to be made :-).

@The Saint - yeah, I realized after I posted that this was wrong thread. I am new to Arch wiki and was too fast to post. I came to forum with intend to ask this question, looked quickly through sections, saw "hardware" and posted just to realize afterwards it is ment hardware in context of kernel. This should probably be moved to some other section of the forum. I am sorry for inconvenience.
@Glow - I see uefi bios on my 2nd screen, no problems here. When I run live dvd I also see it on 2nd screen, but I think the dvd is using Syslinux instead of Grub. I have not tried another boot loader with Arch and Windows. Would like to use Grub2 actually just because I am familiar with it and it boots fine both linux and windows. So I would in first hand like to fix issue with Grub if possible, but if not I will have to look into some other boot loader.

  • Dock position with two screens

    Hi,
I'd like to keep my dock positioned on the left side of my laptop's main screen.
In particular, I want to be able to use a second display, positioned to the left of the main screen. But even though the second display is to the left of the main display, I want the dock to stay on the laptop screen, rather than moving to the left side of the other screen.
    Is this possible?
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

AFAIK there is nothing you can do to get the behavior you want. In effect you are trying to put the Dock in the middle, which isn't an option. Personally, I keep my Dock on the right, pinned to the bottom, and my second monitor is to the left. The only options for Dock are right, left, top, bottom and pinned. When you have a second monitor and an extended Desktop that means the edge of the second monitor becomes either right or left (depending on the arrangement of the monitors), and the Dock will behave accordingly. Indeed, you can swap the Docks monitor position without changing anything in its preferences at all, just rearrange the monitors is the Display preferences....

  • Back button in ALV oops with two screens

    hi,
i have created the ALV report using oops concept. have kept the selection screen say 1000 and two more screens say 9001 and 9002.
when i click on back from 9002 screen  it should go to 9001.

    Hello Sankumar
I assume your 2nd screen (9002) displays detailed data based on a selection of the first screen (9001).
Example: first ALV displays customers -> select single customer via double-clicking -> display sales orders on 2nd ALV
Furthermore, I assume you trigger the second screen within your event handler method. If this is the case then I regard this as bad design which is bound to cause problems.
Within the event handler method just store the required selection (e.g. customer number) and trigger PAI using:
    CALL METHOD cl_gui_cfw=>set_new_ok_code( ok_code = 'DISPLAY_DETAILS' ).
This trigger PAI of your first screen with a defined ok-code (= 'DISPLAY_DETAILS' ).
Now you may call a FORM routine DISPLAY_DETAILS where you make the call to your second screen.
This allows you to use the normal PAI logic to switch back and forth between multiple screens.

    Every help is welcome.
    Thanks everybody.

    Hello Revi,
When I try to assign the molga I need also to indicate
the variable key in the table V_T588M, when I try to create
a new entrie in this table and assign it to the screen fields,
I can't. I'm following this way bellow for fill the fields in the table V_T588M:
    Module Pool: MP002300
    Standard Screen: 2000
    Alternative Screen: 2000
    Next Screen: 0
But I need to fill the fields and indicate in somewhere the screen number  201.
When I fill the field Alternative Screen or Next Screen with the value 201, it doesn't
accept and return the message "Screen 201 does not exist".
Am I following the right way ?

It's a Magic Mouse question. I have set this up in Preferences by ticking Swipe between pages with one finger and also Swipe between full-screen apps with two fingers,  however when I try to do the latter, the 2 finger swipe will take me from the app that I am on to the dashboard only and not to my other open apps.
I also find that Smart zoom only works with some apps, for instance not with Word docs or email.
How can I correct this please?

Just figured out it also does not work with the Mail app.

  • Popup screen with two check box and a text area for the user to enter value

    hi,
i have a requirement when a button is clicked a popup screen should appear with two check box and a text box where the user can enter a value.
is there any function module which has that functionality

    Hello,
You can create a new screen and select the screen type as <b>model dialog box</b>.This will give you a<b> pop-up screen</b> and you can call this model dialog box screen in the PAI of the screen where the button is present.(At user-command).
    <b>case ok_code.
    when 'BUTTON'.
    call screen 200 starting at 10 10.</b>
You can design the PBO of this pop-up screen as per your needs.

Problem with two monitors while using Photoshop, windows move from 2nd screen to 1st screen.

  • Field in the selection screen as a select option with two default values

    Hi All,
can anybody tell me how to put field in the selection screen with two defaul values.
for ex:  selection screen the Account Group KNA1-KTOKD as a select option. The defeault value should be Y001 and Y005.
    please reply ASAP. Its urgent.
    Thanks in advance,
    Madhu

    Hi Madhu,
Since Select options are nothing but ranges, you can use the following code to add two distinct values to the select options by default.
    s_ktokd-sign = 'I'.
    s_ktokd-option = 'EQ'.
    s_ktokd-low = 'Y001'.
    append s_ktokd.
    s_ktokd-low = 'Y005'.
    append s_ktokd.
    clear s_ktokd.
However, if you want to mention a range like all the values between these given two values to be considered then u may use,
    select-options : s_ktokd for KNA1-KTOKD default 'Y001' to 'Y005'.
    or
    s_ktokd-sign = 'I'.
    s_ktokd-option = 'BT'.
    s_ktokd-low = 'Y001'.
    s_ktokd-high = 'Y005'.
    append s_ktokd.
    Reward if helpful.
