Positive Post

Hi,
I wanted to give a positive contribute.
Must be good karma for "New OSes Installation", since even for Tiger all went smooth.
I have an iMac 24" 2.4, and hopefully the latest iMAc update will fix the freezing problems, which occurred to me with Tiger every 3/4 days.
So, all so good, did "Acrchive and Install" and Leopard was screaming 40 min later ..
I mean, all smooth ... so thanx to all the thousands of people involved in this new Release!!
There are a few things I would like to comment.
Everything feels polished, clean, fast (not much faster than Tiger though in the normal usage).
Spaces is good, Time Machine is backing up and if it really works included the ability to restore the whole system it's an AMAZING value worth by itself the price.
Finder is good, quick look is quick and SOOO beautiful and it is system wide (click on a movie on the desktop then hit space and zaappp), cover flow useful and fast.
I wander one thing though: In "Shared" I have computers, and within them I have the different disks/folders. OK. But for example I connect to a server that has SMB/AFP and if I connect through "Shared" OSX uses SMB. If I need to connect using AFP (for example iTunes doesn't read the library file in a SMB Network Partition) the same connected server doesn't show up in Shared. It doesn't show up anywhere but on the desktop (I personally don't want any disk/server/CD DVD Icon on the desktop).
So if I connect through AFP, through Command+K, I don't see the connected server on the left bar. This is weird. Isn't it?
Mail is cool, so cool. Tthough I loved RSS in the way Safari was showing them, why different? And also I can't make a folder to look at all of the RSS in one place, I have to click anc re-click over again to the next RSS.
Also the Photo Panel visible in Mail stays open even after I send the mail, so I must close it after the mail is sent. Since you only add photo to mails why not closing it when the mail is sent?
Dock and stack are OK, I wander why not the ability to resize stacks.
System preferences make so much more sense. Beautiful the new share engine.
But guys the Firewall? I read about the complaining and I feel it needs some fixes. It has become more like little snitch, and not a real Firewall.
Front Row is a definite improvement. Faster, and more beautiful!!!!!!!!
Quicktime seem the same, I will test the Export speed soon.
iMovie still buggy when exporting to .Mac.
This is just the result of the first 2 hours.
Thank you to all Apple People!!
And to the ones finding bugs I say: Easy .. it'll be fine.

I have to agree, i`ve put 3 together allready, except for one having a defective IDE cable, all was fine.
I love my mobo`s

  • A Positive Post on the New Shared Plan.

So I would like to give some figures to everyone, and I wanted to make my own post.
    Current Vs New.
    Current Family Plan
4 People, 3 Smart phones 1 Flip phone
    40 $ for the 4 lines
170$ for the Unlimited Minutes ( just checked, that is what it says for if i changed to unlimited.)
30$ unlimited Texting for all phones
90$ (at least) for data plan. (will assume they have 2GB package for sake of comparasion)
Total = 330$ (we will leave out any other fees as we are just worried about plans)
So I would like to take a moment to talk about the current billing set up. In reality right now, every Smart phone costs 40 Bucks. 10$ for the Phone line and 30 (at least) for data. So the price for a smart phone remains the same in the new set up. The basic phone will be 30 bucks, which is a 20$ increase. As it is now, you have to play for Voice and texting separately. As you see in our current set up, that is a lot of money.  Now lets move on to the new set up.
4 People, 3 Smart phones 1 Flip phone.
    120$ for the smart phones
    30 for the flip phone
100$ for 10 GB which includes Mobile hot spot.
    Total 250$
Bit of a difference there, and in a good way if you ask me. They are getting 4GB MORE than they had before, and it will be shared between EVERYONE. So they now have 4 GB to mobile hotspot their laptops/tablets or whatever. With this pricing, why not upgrade that flip phone to a smart phone for 10 bucks a month and still save money.
You people that are using 10 GB or more are using sites that use Verizon's bandwidth for free. If you truly want to blame this price hikes, blame the services you use. Why do you think Netflix can stream videos to you for 5$ a month? Because they don't bite the bullet in bandwidth pricing. And so many ppl use these services, that it causes Verizon and companies to buy more equipment. This equipment is not cheap, we are talking about single routers that cost millions. You can only fit so much data down 1 strand of fiber.
I am glad to discuss this if you can bring valid arguments!!

Hello and glad to offer a comparison of my own situation as this whole idea is so relative to each of us :
my bill right now will be (obscene as it is) approx.  272.00  it includes:
    3 smartphones with data:
    1 @ unlimited
    1 @ 2gb
    1@  4gb
    2 basic phones (no data)
    1 wifi  mobile hotspot device @ 5gb
700 shared minutes  (which we never exceed)
Unlimited texts     for the record I should say that I have not used more than 2 gb on my unlimited data plan, so for the sake of discussion I will  calculate that we have access to 13 gb  (for all practical purposes)
Under the new (and improved) plan:
    3 smartphones @ 40.00
    2 basic phones @ 30.00
    1 hotspot          @ 20.00
    Data plan with 10 gb = 100.00
At this point I am looking at: 300.00 and 10 gb data as opposed to:  272.00  for 13 gb
Again this analysis is relative to my own situation and doesn't even consider that I would be giving up my unlimited data, of which I am not an abuser.  In the future I will need to add one additional smartphone and then my total would be similar in dollars but would allow us 5 more gb. 2 of my phones will be teens, and so the restrictive data allowance wold not favor me in the least. So to conclude, I get considerably less data for similar money OR similar data for more money. And in this age of ever more increasing amounts of services that are data-centric, we will feel the pinch. Now I know that people on here will offer counseling as to how I can manage my use of data, but I neither need advice nor counsel as this issue. My hope was that these new plans would be an improvement or would offer some relief, but bring nothing positive to my table. I love a logical discussion and although I can be as passionate as anyone can be, you asked for logic and this is mine.
P.S. If I were to increase my own data use to the commonly referred level 5 gb (which is where people have observed throttling) then there is 3 more gb lost to this brilliant plan. I only use what I need in terms of data and it varies, so most people find their 'comfort zone' when they consider which plans to choose. Offering unlimited voice to people is a losing proposition as an incentive to get on board this plan. While some of the excitement is from people thinking they will be forced onto the plan, vz at this point has said they will allow existing customers to keep what they have (for now). I despise this company even though I have no other serious option, so I will play hardball and continue to encourage people to stay engaged, fully educate themselves, participate in advocacy efforts, pay attention to Congressional business as relates to both telecommunications and net neutrality.

  • My positive post

    Hey all,
Just thought I would post a story....a little story about a MacBook Pro and it's owner.
I got a MacBook Pro mid 2006, my first Mac. I opend the box and was struck by a minimalistic laptop, though I would later find out that it was anything but in terms of care.
I played with my new beast for a while at work (which was where it was delivered) but once I took it home I found out that about 5 mins after I connected it to a wifi network it would get a fatal execption and require a reboot. I searched the Apple (on my Dell Inspiron) and found that several users had this issue and were oky after a logic board replacement. Cool, I thought, a quick service call and all would be good.
I logged it and dropped it off.....got it back from my service joint 2.5 weeks later.
Yay, it's back and I have barely used it. New PC for me.
After a few days the screen dies.....call to apple...sevice call...dropped of to Mac1 in Canberra....pick it up after 3 weeks....logic board again, several calls and an email to the manager later.
Lasts a few hours then wont wake up after a sleep. I keep trying to boot it and after a few hours it turns on. I hope that it is a one-off, it ain't.
I check the Apple support site the next time around and do the power reset. It comes back to life.
Happens again. I try the battery out, power button down for 5 secs. Not good. It comes to life a few hours later.
....Rinse, wash, repeat 4 - 5 time. Then I call Apple support. They give me a ref # and say to drop it off at the worst repair joint ever. They say that if it is a Logic Board for the 3rd time I may get a replacement.
...I have to go to Vietnam with work for a few weeks before I can drop it off. When I get back I have lost my ref #. I call apple to get it again, and double check about the "3 strikes" rule They talk to a senior tech and say I can have a replacement right now.
Since my MacBok Pro has been supersceded a few times I get a better CPU, more RAM and a bigger HDDout of all this....Dell would have done one for one.
The moral of the story is that afer a few issues I got a much better deal than expected. Dell would have replaced it one for one....plus everyone at Apple was super nice...bar the dodgy local support dudes.
Just my story. (I told myself that if I got a dud deal I would complain to everyone, but I got a major bonus so thought it would only be fair to tell the flip side.)
Thanks for listening to my story/rant.

had a little giggle to myself when I read your first post.. I happen to currently be in canberra visiting family, and I've had the misfortune of dealing with mac 1. oh boy are they incompetent, but not only that.. they're unreliable and just plain not on the ball in the slightest. my brother who lives here runs a fairly large company, all mac-based, and they moved over to purchasing via a direct contact at apple in sydney a long time ago because their needs were way out of mac1's league. personally, I've called them a few times for moderately complex support issues while I've been here, and I have always been told that the guy that really knows this stuff is busy and will call me back. have never received a call back ever, nor a response to an email I sent weeks ago clearly explaining what I wanted to know.. it even involved wanting information on how to do something which related to buying something after I got an answer, but they still couldn't even get it together to give me a call back or answer my email. basically, a bunch of hacks that are best suited to selling mac minis to suburbanites. oh and another funny thing.. I once went in to their shiny new store in that new mall thing in the city. I was thinking of buying a small hard drive, to install a simple OSX boot system to use as an emergency startup drive in case the drive on any of my laptops died. my question was, can you boot OSX off a USB 2 drive? because I'd forgotten if it absolutely had to be firewire or not. the staff member looked at me with a puzzled expression and said.... boot??
    I rest my case.
anyway, good to hear your story of success getting a better than expected deal from apple after you scored a lemon. in future, I'd steer well clear of mac1. you are better off buying your apple gear and pretty much anything else you might want to use with it direct from the apple store, or if it's generic stuff, from any other computer dealer. and if you need local repairs, my brother's company use NCSS in canberra. they are authorised for apple service and from the times I've spoken to them, they know their stuff and they are efficient, courteous and actually capable of following through. before I leave back to france, I've just ordered a much larger hard drive for my little 12" powerbook, which I'm not going to install myself as it's a bit tricky. I got a quote from mac1 to do the job, and they quoted more than double what NCSS quoted. they also said that they would not do a system clone of my existing drive so that when I get the new drive in there it's all back to how it was, just on the new larger drive. not only did they say they wouldn't do that as part of the quote, but they said they wouldn't even do it even if I let them charge me more for the extra time it would take. meanwhile, NCSS quoted me less than half mac1's price, and will clone my existing system drive to the new one at the same price. and on top of that, they knew right away what kind of drive spec was required for the machine, whereas mac1 were telling me to order a SATA drive, which won't work in this powerbook.
I think it's a really bad thing that these people are pretty much the only mac dealers in this town, it's a scary thing to think that such an incompetent bunch of hacks are responsible for the reputation of apple in the whole city.

  • Manual Bank Statement: saved & posted without errors but no FI doc

    Hi,
I entered details for manual bank statement to clear a vendor payment.
The transaction used was "003- Cashed Check", which has interpretation algorithm "021 Reference document number search". I've read in another Forum thread that this interpretation algorithm searches for the data stored in the Reference field of the payment document. So I entered the same data in the Bank Reference field in the manual bank statement.
The system did not throw any error, so I saved the bank statment and consequently posted. The status of the statement is "Manu. Posting complete".
As far as I understand, when the statement is "posted", an FI doc will be automatically posted with the following entry:
         DR Bank Check outgoing
         CR Main Bank Account GL
However, I cannot see this posting in both the Main Bank Account and Bank Check outgoing GLs.
Am I missing any step? Or is the config wrong?
    Hoping for your guidance.  Thanks!

    Yes, the entries are correct.

  • Are there any positives to 2.0?

All I read on forum after forum is nightmares about the 2.0 software. On both the 2g and 3g iPhones. I have not seen a single positive post about the new software update. (accept that the appstore is cool...kinda..) This has kept me from updating. I just hope Apple fixes it soon. If you have any positive stories about the 2.0 update I would like to know.....thanks!

There have been threads here just like you asking for positive info. And in all of them you will find many reporting all is good with them.
You have to remember what technical forums are for. Places to go when a person has an issue, people do not go to them saying all is good.
For the millions of iPhones out there there are millions of users that are using the phone just fine. Yes some may not realize the battery is draining faster or that some things are a bit less stable. But could be they don't notice because either all is good, or they use the phone differently than those trying to get every ounce of productivity out of it.
For me, I have original iPhone (so does wife and friends). Outside of a few reboots now and then, all is good with me and wife and friends. I have just found reboots only seem to happen if I go open App, after app after app. On the days I just use the phone as an iPod player, phone, and email...all is good. Times I sit and play with many various apps, seems to lag or reboot self if I keep opening various apps. To me this just points to things not really closing out as they should and Apple planned for...so I just know if I go playing around too much with a lot of apps it may give me issue but a reboot always clears things up.
    Hope my experience helps you.

  • Positive customer feedback!

I dont appear to be the only one looking for a place to leave positive feedback which is a shame when you have a complaints department. I had the pleasure of speaking with an Irish gentleman called John (didnt catch his last name) yesterday! Who was more than helpful, with helping me deal with a problem with my broadband. He was patient, friendly and extremely informative at all times of what was going on. He contacted me back when was promised, and even contacted me back after the issue had been dealt with, as he noticed an additonal error. Instead of leaving the issue (which he easily could of done), he contacted me back to help figure out the on-going issue.  I usually dread dealing with these problems as I get passed around from person to person who just fob you off to the next person, which ends up highly frustrating and stressful! For once, after speaking with John I finished the phone call feeling more at ease and actually understanding the issue at hand! Amazing customer service! cant praise him enough!  John needs a raise! Thank you again! A positive feedback section would be useful, to ensure the staff members doing their jobs above and beyond, actually get the recognition they deserve!   Hugs for John!

God stuff, thanks for posting, two positive posts in one day !

  • Mark Interest Accrual for MM Instruments as Posted at go-live

Folks I have a simple situation wherein I want to mark legacy Interest Accruals as Posted, the way TBB1_LC works.
If I run TPM44 with no immediate posting, it does the trick but then sets the status as To Be Fixed, I tried using TPM18 to see if later on such flows could get fixed by mistake, and SAP did not fix any flows which is what I want.
Question is whether  TPM44 with no immediate posting should work same as TBB1_LC for my scenario ?
    Much Appreciated.
    Rahul

    Hello Renatas,
    Simple Scenario is:
For an "Intercompany Loan" Instrument with 4 months freq. Chronology given below:
    Last Payment/ Capitalization Date = 5/31/2014 (Position/Principle Balance = 1mm)
    Legacy/Excel based Interest Accrual on 6/30/2014 = 1k
    Legacy/Excel based Interest Accrual on 7/31/2014 = 1k
    SAP Go-live Date = 7/31/2014
On 7/31, Performed TBB1_LC with Position Principle as of 5/31/2014 (1mm) with Position Posting Date = 5/31/2014   (no posting in SAP)
On 7/31, Above 2 Accruals posted to new SAP GL Account on 7/31 (general journal, not via TR)
But to proceed further, how to statistically post Legacy/Excel based Interest Accrual on 6/30 & 7/31  like we did in TBB1_LC.
Please note postings to previous periods are not possible as they have been closed and have been posted manually accounting wise from excel.
SAP based Interest Accrual on 8/31/2014 = 1k (posted in SAP)
SAP based Interest Accrual on 9/30/2014 = 1k  (posted in SAP)
On 9/31 Interest Capitalization Date = New Principle = 1mm + all total interest accruals which will be the correct cash flow indicated by SAP.
Please note that the loan instruments are denominated in different currencies than CoCd currencies hence there are forex gain/loss issues too.
    Regards,
    Rahul

  • Differences between Position Hierarchy and Supervisory Hierarchy

    Hi All,
Can somebody tell me the pros and cons of using Position Hierarchy and Supervisory Hierrarchy .
    Regards,

If you use the Position hierarchy then you will have to go through the process of defining all of the positions / posts in your organisation and specifying all reporting lines in your organisation from top to bottom. You will then have the overhead of maintaining your positions and position hierarchy and keeping them in line with the business on a day to day basis.
If your organisation is fairly fluid, e.g. a project based organisation or an expanding organisation, these can be very significant overheads. Business re-organisation will create a large workload in creating new positions and migrating employees to them.
If you are in a fairly static organisation e.g. public sector then it may well be that the position structure is well documented and changes infrequently. In this case use of positions and position hierarchies is a simple data entry task and adds significant value.
The supervisor hierarchy is more flexible. It is simply a field held against the person record. However, there is very little validation on it so the you have to put manual processes in place to make sure the data is valid e.g. leavers are replaced and that no loops are created.
I would recommend NOT using positions unless yours is a public sector implementation.
    Regards,
    Andrew

  • Multiple monitors and/or Reference monitor in Premiere Pro

Harm -- I've been meaning to email you to again thank you for your recent recommendation of the GTX 470 board for my Win7-CS5 editing computer. It seems to be working extremely well. But I'm now pouring through all the posts about external monitoring, since I've always had that with a nice Sony CRT monitor. I can live with turning the MPE on and off to export to tape. But running things through my video camera to feed a monitor seems like a klutzy work-around.
So I'm a bit confused about which of the two other options is preferable. Sounds like some folks are doing well with a BlackMagic Desklink Studio 2 card ... while others are opting for a second video card to feed that third screen.
Like the video display card question, this external monitor issue seems to be puzzling a lot of folks. (I see some 400 people looked at one of these recent posts).
What's your take on it? Second display card to feed that third monitor ... or a blackmagic box? Pros and cons? Caveats and things to watch out for?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts about this!

Thanks for the quick reply, Harm. Yeah -- I know this is another moving target. By now, many of us are used to encountering all kinds of unexpected problems as we add on extra cards to our systems. After my poor experience with the matrox rtx2 and cs4 I'm reluctant to go with them again for anything. But there have been some positive posts about the blackmagic cards.
I'm wondering whether anyone has been successfully using the Blackmagic UltraStudioPro under Win7-64 with CS5? This is the one which features longer and beefier input/output cables, but requires an add-on USB 3.0 card for many motherboards.
As usual, the devil is in the details ...

  • Not only is the iPhone 6 unlocked, but the t-mobile phones work on verizon!

if someone makes a youtube video or writes a news story about my post, this time around i really would appreciate some credit.  saying rigor mortis  from apple discussions' is good enough.
it turns out that the iPhone 6 and 6 plus model numbers #1459 and #1522 are universal. and both have the CDMA radio enabled. However, Sprint models are still separate as far as i know. i did not test Sprint. but as far as AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, go , it is the EXACT same phone. i was playing around with my iPhone 6 on launch day. i wanted to see if "ask maggie" was right and the phone was locked to a specific carrier. i tried the T-Mobile and AT&T sims that i had. they do not have service.
however when i inserted my LIVE and ACTIVATED Verizon Sim into my iPhone 6 , my iPhone suddenly became a verizon iPhone. i was able to Place and Receive calls using CDMA, i was able to use DATA services, and i was able to send SMS messages. i assumed that VoLTE was not enabled. and it  was not. i assumed
that you had to buy a Verizon model to get Volte. but i was wrong. it just took a while to activate. and i did see use VoLTE in settings, for Voice and DATA
however, since the IMEI and MEID serial numbers are not listed with Verizon, you are not able to either Sign up to verizon, or to transfer service to your new iPhone 6. your service is still tied to your SIM card. and when the iPhone 6 is running and active with your sim card, your device listed on "MY Verizon" will be shown as NON VZW device and it will only show the sim card. but a pre-activated sim card pulling from another device will work in the iPhone 6.
this is just like the iPad Air and the iPad Mini Retina. the only difference between these phones is the serial number is put in some list that tells someone which
carrier it supposed to belong to, and if it is locked or not. and which sim card came with the device. other then that. there are no technical differences between them. except for sprint of course.
whenever i inserted a new sim card into the iPhone 6, it automatically got carrier settings and changed its baseband.

the iPhones 5, 5c and 5s, were all shipped with CDMA disabled in GSM iPhones. this is the first iPhone ever to come out where the CDMA radio was not disabled. that is why i posted this thread. because a lot of people assume that the CDMA is still disabled and they are repeating things from previous models of the iPhone, without bothering to check. if i have offended you by wanting to post a message so more people would know what exactly that LTE page says then I apologize. Heck, I'm seeing a lot of web pages like modern reader that are still telling people they have to wait a few months for apple to release the unlocked iPhones.
    which is totally untrue.
here is a good thread where you can see people just assuming that the CDMA was disabled. and the phones had different base bands.
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=19926968&posted=1#post19926968
the iPhone 6 sees your sim card and as long as its unlocked, downloads the new baseband on the fly. i don't know if this is a new feature
with all the viral news about bend gate, i don't understand why you seem to want to criticize my positive post and suggesting that apple gives away this information. with all the bad news about bend gate and 8.0.1 bugs. its very hard for a single person like me to get a positive iPhone experience out and offer iPhone tips.
when the iPad air and iPad mini retina came out, the universal support of T-Mobile - Verizon - AT&T and even sprint (under some circumstances) was big news. but now that we have bend gate and iOS 8.0.1 and bloggers who are just copying and pasting what the other blog says. no one seems to notice that the CDMA is turned on.

  • IPhone 5 Battery Indicator and Reboot issues

    Hello Apple community forum,
I have an iPhone 5 that I purchased approximately 20 months ago. It has worked flawlessly and been well taken care of. Only until recently, maybe 3 weeks after I updated to IOS update 7.1.1, I have been having a plethora of issues and now the phone is virtual useless. I have not jailbroken it or have had any third party hardware installed. It all started when I plugged in my Apple lightening cable for charging and an error appeared "unsupported charging cable". From there I have experienced the following problems:
Battery indicator stuck while charging at any various percentage or during normal use and standby. Only a reboot will provide current charge status.
    Extremely fast battery drain.
Unexpected reboots at various intervals or while accessing Apps or browsers. Sometimes very frequent. One day had at least 60 reboots. one right after the other.
    Cannot turn on or off
Shuts off when I put it in my pocket.
    BSOD (Blue Screen of Death)
Screen exhibits lines or odd characters shuts down or reboots.
Time and date at different positions post boot.
Log file full of errors. (Panaic.ips bug type 110 | awdd Wireless | ResetCounter bug type 115| TCCService bug type 167 | Log-Aggregated bug type 193)
The update worked great on the phone and it seemed faster and the battery lasted a bit longer than usual. However, now it is a different story. I was able to backup my phone and offload all my photos on its good day. I was reading the support site and following a few of these forums. I follow the soft and hard rest procedures and even restored the phone back to factory default (DFU mode). It does seem to run a bit better in default without many apps on it but it still exhibits all the above issues. I bit the bullet and went to the Apple store to talk to one of there G men. He acted surprised and gave me the Apple trained verbal run around. He ran the diagnostic and stated that my battery did not even register as being in the system. From there he opened the phone, inspected it for damage and re-attached the battery and taped it back down. BTW, they hosed my screen cover. Nothing is ever free. They did offer to replace my battery for $80 but did not feel that would solve this problem. If anyone has had this issue and did have a new battery installed, please let me know how that worked out.
I wonder if this latest update exposes some type of hardware flaw that was previously fixed or just a bug(s) in the software code. Yet, Apple does not seem to acknowledge there is a problem let alone advise to any upcoming fix. It does not seem that Apple really cares about my little bit of business. If anyone has any ideas or experience, please let me know. This is frustrating and owning too much of my time. Thanks Apple!

If tried techniques to get the battery to act right, such as rebooting by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, and those things haven't helped, take the iPhone and iPad to the Apple store genius bar and have the technicians test them to see if there is a hardware fault.  Do that before the warranty runs out so you are covered.

  • I am a HAPPY iphone user

I know these message boards are primary for people who have been experiencing problems. But every now and then I am sure some of you would like to see a positive post about people who are not experiencing any problems if for nothing else, you may have peace of mind knowing that EVERY iphone is not a piece of junk.
When I first saw the iphone the day it was announced I knew I must have it. However, I sure as **** wasn't going to pay their asking price. So I turned away with my tail in between my legs thinking the iphone would never be mine. THEN the price drop was announced. As soon as I heard I went to my local AT&T store (keep in mind I am already a Cingular/AT&T customer- so it was only a hardware change for me). I was expecting to buy the $299 4Gb version. The store employee told me they were sold out of the 4Gb version and only had the 8Gb version for $399 and that I will have a hard time finding the 4Gb model because they were discontinued. My gut feeling told me "bait and switch" but I didn't feel like driving to a different AT&T store to find a 4Gb phone. I ponied up the extra hundred bucks and got the 8Gb model. In hindsight, I am glad I got the 8Gb version- I almost have it filled.
What struck me as odd was that the ATT store only sold me the phone. They did not activate it or anything. They told me they only sell the phone, I need to bring it home and activate it myself through itunes. I have had cell phones for a long time (since the late 80's) and the company rep in the stores have ALWAYS set up my phones. The activation process was simple and straightforward. I encountered ZERO problems.
Using the phone has been a positive experience. I love the phone and it is the coolest device I have ever owned. It truly does live up to the hype Steve Jobs portrayed in his announcement. It is a little devive that does in fact do it all. Sure there are shortcomings, as with anything else. No one device is 100% perfect. At least Apple is listening to it's customers. My biggest gripe is the speakerphone volume- I do concede the speakerphone is useless. Handset volume is fine and the speaker volume when playng music/videos is more than adequate. There is only so much you can expect from such a tiny speaker. The recessed headphone jack was kind of a disappointment, but it is logical as to why Apple did this. First and formost the iphone is a phone. Apple wants you to use their headset with the built in mic. If they left the headphone jack unrecessed and you can freely use any headphone you wanted, customers would be complaining they can't answer their calls. The ipod touch is first and foremost a media player, hence it has a "normal" "unrecessed" headphone jack. Another "perceived" shortcoming is not being able to MMS pictures. However, Apple does not advertise the messaging feature as MMS, they advertise it as SMS- so you can't really fault Apple on this one. The e-mail workaround is more than adequate.
My only gripe with the iphone is the ringtone DEBACLE. I don't know why Apple is doing it the way they are, but all I can say is it is very disappointing and I'll leave it at that.
I did have an issue with the 1.1.1 update and I thought I had bricked my phone. But I came to these forums and found how to fix it and now I am happy. Let's just say the update did not go smoothly and I hope future updates won't be so troublesome. I can't even blame this on Apple- I believe my computer was the culprit here. I had a power surge once and ever since then my USB has been flakey. I installed itunes on another computer and did the update on that. It all went smooth on a second computer. I know a lot of people do not have that option though.
So here I am, a happy customer posting on the Apple Support Forums.

Anthony - I'm happy to say that I've had a similar experience. This has been absolutely the best phone I've ever had. I hardly ever used my iPod Video anymore, because I was tired of dragging around two things to shove into my pockets. Now I'm actually listening to music on the go again, which is great for when you walk into a store and can ignore all the sales associates nagging you to buy something.
"Sorry - I was listening to some music, did you say something?"
All too often these forums are nothing but complaints & whining, and you'll never make everyone 100% happy, but so far I sure am!

  • Spry Menu issues in Internet Explorer

I have created a Spry menu for my website and although the menu appears to look fine in Firefox and Safari, the formatting changes in Internet Explorer(IE).
1.sub menu bar is not dropping down below the main menu bar it is appearing at the top of the screen.
2.When you hover over the sub menu bar items the font should be white however in IE it is appearing as an aqua color.
3.The menu bar is not straight across the page, at the beginning and end there are chunks of the menu bar that appear white.
Are there any fixes for these issues that would help to make the menu look consistent across all browsers.  The website page is

Hi Nadia thanks for your help in trying to fix the spry menus.
I am new to Dreamweaver and therefore would appreciate a bit more help with the issues you identified.
I did replace the doctype. As for removing the menu from a table and putting it into a div, would you be able to identify in the code below how I would do that?  Thanks
