Possible Audigy 2 ZS popping fix

I'm not sure if something like this has already been posted, but I'll chime in my 2 cents anyways. I installed my Audigy?2 ZS card again last night after being annoyed for months with it and using my onboard audio because of the popping and crackling issuse. The driver version that came with my CD is .82.0.2 and I had no crackling at all, but I did have an issue with trying to seek on windows media player...everytime I would try and skip ahead in a track or video the sound would like reset to the highest level and come blasting through my speakers. So I updated to the newest with drivers available 2.09.006 and the crackling/ popping returned! *Cries* but the seeking problem with media player was fixed. I then uninstalled the newest driver and installed my old drivers that came with my CD and the crackling went away *Cheers* but I still have the seeking issue with media player. I would rather have my game playing and audio be clear and deal with the seeking issue than have the crackling problem. I am curious though as to if I can just update some of the things like the THX setup console, EAX console and Surround mixer and that would fix the seeking issue. But I'm not sure if those updates are only compatible with the newer ZS driver version like 2.09.006Message Edited by FeiTality07 on 04-22-2007:6 PM

Unfortunately, there is little you can do. This is a problem nati've to Soundblaster cards since the original Audigy (some people claim it arri'ved with the Li've!). Search in this forum for SCP (snap crackle pop), and you will find hundreds of topics on the problem. There is no real answer, although the best I could do to get rid of it was to dump the Creative Labs drivers, and install the KX project drivers instead.

Other than that, there are dozens of things to try which some people have claimed have worked, but none of them fixed the same problem on my system. If you feel like trying, just search either for "crackling" in this forum, or "SCP". You will find suggestions like moving your Audigy to a different PCI slot, reducing soundboard hardware acceleration, reducing vidcard acceleration, changing PCI Latency settings, etc. etc. etc. Unfortunately those suggestions are all merely bandaids. The real solution must come from Creative Labs.

you may use class cl_gui_alv_tree and display it in a popup screen. Look at RSDEMO_DIALOGBOX_CONTROL program (popup + cl_gui_picture control), and you combine it with BCALV_TREE_04 (cl_gui_alv_tree) to replace cl_gui_picture. You may access all demos from menu SE38, Environment, Examples (and finally Controls Examples in your case)

Have you updated your video card driver from the GPU maker's website?
The drivers that shipped with Win 8 are pretty out of date (and buggy).

Audigy 2 ZS - popping sound in mce

Hi,
I recently installed windows 7 (32 bit). I set up the speakers in windows media center to use the coax digital output (and 5. speakers) and when I click the button to test the speakers I just hear a clicking/popping sound.
If I set the speakers up for the single RCA analog plug and 5., the test button makes a sound ok but only for 2 channels.
I've installed the most recent driver I could find for audigy 2 zs, which is v 2.8.
Can anyone suggest how to get the speakers working in mce?

Setting all the # speakers and bit rates the same in the windows and creative apps didn't seem to help so I tried disabling the spdif output device and now I get all channels in mce. Yay. Thanks for your help.
Seems like the speakers device works but the spdif device does not. My sound card has a 2.5mm digital output port which I connect to the coax digial input on my denon amp with a mono 2.5mm to single rca cable. Is the spdif device supposed to work with this kind of connection?
Also, am I likely to lose anything by using the speaker device instead of the spdif device?

How I Fixed Audigy 2 ZS Popping, Stuttering, Static Noise Probl

I know many people have problems with popping, stuttering and static noise type problems, so I thought I'd share how I (eventually) sorted all my problems out...
I have an ABIT AN7 motherboard so these instructions may need to be customised for other makes/models, but the basic solution was to assign the sound card its very own IRQ in BIOS which is definitely not used/shared (should also work for other SoundBlaster cards)
Also, this involves changing BIOS settings, so don't try this if you're not confident (I take absolutely no responsibility for screw-ups!)
. Uninstall all SB drivers (preferably use Driver Cleaner Pro in Safe Mode)
2. Install/Move the Audigy 2 ZS into PCI slot 3 of the motherboard
3. In the BIOS, disable one of the Serial ports (BIOS > Intergrated Peripherals > Onboard Serial Port 3F8/IRQ4 > Set to DISABLE. This will free up IRQ 4 that was being used
4. Reassign the free IRQ 4 to the Audigy 2 ZS card (BIOS > PnP/PCI Configurations > PIRQ_0 Use IRQ No > Change from AUTO to 4)
5. Save Changes and Exit
6. Reinstall latest SB drivers
I know this will probably not help many people, but it sorted EVERYTHING out for me, so hopefully it'll help someone

Audigy 2 ZS popping noise prob

My system:
BFG Nvidia GeForce 7800 GS OC AGP
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
AMD Athlon 64
2.20 GHz
GB of RAM

I've been getting a problem with these popping noises. All of my drivers / BIOS for everything are all up to date, my speakers are fine, I checked the cords to my speakers (they are un-tangled, and what not), and my speaks are directly connected to the back of my computer (to the sound card). The thing with the popping noises I get, it doesn't happen randomly, it happens in certain parts of music (games, MP3s, WAVs) parts of sound effects in SOME games, and when I do certain things that involve sound. Let's say I'm playing a MP3, when I fast forward or rewind (or whatever it is when you move the tab that moves to show how far into the song you are), it'll pop right as it changes. When I'm adjusting the in-game volume in World of Warcraft, it'll pop every time I raise the volume up or down. It does the popping non stop in Battlefield 942. Whenever I minimize or maximize my game's window, it'll pop once, or twice. Back when I had an ATi Radeon 9800 XT, whenever it VPU'd recovered, it would pop a few times. At times when a sound finishes playing (a sound that doesn't fade away before it ends, it just simply stops without fading away), it'll pop right when it ends. I had the same problem with my last sound card (Sound Blaster Li've) and the last speakers I had, I upgraded my sound card and speakers now, and it still does it.

HT1222 Is it possible to get the SSL fix without having to install ios7 (which I tried and hated) or jailbreaking the devices?

I have a few ipads, iphones and ipod touches of various models, and all run iOS6 of various types (whatever they were running when I last updated them before iOS 7 came along and stopped me being able to get newer versions of 6).
I tried iOS7 for a while but hated both the appearance and some of the things that changed.
My ipods have updated to a new version of iOS6 with the SSL fix.
I can't seem to get this option for the ipads or iphones.
Is it possible to get the important SSL update for iOS 6 for iPhone5, iPad3, ipad4 and ipad mini (not retina) without having to go to iOS7?
(It seems that I can get a fix by jailbreaking but I really don't want to do that if there's another option since I have no need for it otherwise.)

Some of the changes, like to calendar were just frustrating.

So you want a form on your page with a "submit" button. When someone fills out the form and clicks on "submit," you want 3 actions to be executed...
1. Submit the form (email or whatever)
2. Hyperlink to another page (like a thank you page)
3. Automatically start a file download (maybe another URL with the .zip file like you mentioned).
Right? So basically all the actions are just URLs. I mean you could type any one of them individually into the address bar of Safari and get the expected result, right? So I wonder how difficult it would be to make these 3 actions dependent on a single button click?

I am trying to setup a pop-up menu in Number that would give me the ability to first create subheadings, that I can then enter my selection list in.
Example:

Strictly speaking this i not possible. You could precede each entry that is indented with a space to make the menu appead to have sub entries.

If your OS is fully up-to-date, that is close to impossible. The Flashback site has not been known to be active since long before August.
Did you migrate any users from an older system, perhaps? It might have been transferred if that is the case.
ISP's are famous for mis-diagnosing these things with regard to Macs, so you might want to challenge them to provide you with their logs and specifics about what they are seeing.
Is it possible that another device is on your network that could be causing this, either something you own or a neighbor using your network?

1212M Crackling/Popping - FIXED

I wanted to report some exciting news. After my previous post breaking down the crackling problen in detail I got to thinking (yes, I know, dangerous). I began wondering "what if something that the driver (or DSP) is doing is causing the delay that makes the pointers cross over in the buffer?" I've always used my 1212M as a straight I/O device meaning I don't use any hardware-based effects or processing. I simply have one strip for input and one strip for ouput. I thought that was the simplest configuration PatchMix could have.
To verify that assumption I found a signal flow diagram online and looked it over. I realized that there is an even simpler path available. Instead of having a channel strip for output with nothing on it and using a Monitor line to connect that strip to the analog output, I could remove the Monitor (or Mix) line and add a Send to the strip that would go straight to the analog output. This eliminates the Patchmix final mix and also the meters and maybe some other processing from the signal path. So I tried that even simpler configuration and the crackling problem has GONE AWAY! I've now been running over 24 hours with nary a crackle or pop.
This really isn't a "fix" because the card *should* be able to use the standard pathway. It's more of a workaround but it's a workaround that I'm perfectly happy with since it gives me what I really wanted, clean I/O at 24 bit / 96Khz. There is definitely still a consistent hardware based problem in some 1212M cards and I believe it could be addressed by further driver changes from EMU but in the meantime I'm finally a happy camper. Hopefully this tip will help some other user that's having the same problem as I was.
