Possible broken Centro

Ok, my 24 month old has dropped my phone a couple times, now I am experiencing some issues. 1. When I view the web on my centro I can view so much information and then it just tells me the pages can not load anymore. The only way to fix this is the turn off the phone and then back on, or to remove the batter and do a soft reset. I have the system set up to clear my cache every time I exit the internet so I know that's not an issue.
The second thing I had start happening today. When I go to make a call, I don't hear it in the ear piece, the sound is coming from the speaker on the back of the phone. I've checked and the speakerphone button is not turned on and the sound is very faint. I can turn the speakerphone on and that works normally. This does not happen all the time but it has happened to me with 3 phone calls so far today.
Do you think it's a firmware upgrad I need to do with Palm (there are no updates listed on Palm's site for AT&T phones), or do I need to call warrenty repair and have it replaced?

Between the last freeze up and this one Here is a list of websites I visited.
wap.superpages.com
voiceindigo.com (linked from the Palm for mobile website)
Radio-locator.com (Linked from the Palm for mobile website)
treo.treocentral.com
mobile.palm.com
wireless.schwab.com
wireless.stockpoint.com
google.com/reader I got one article read and then it crashed again. Said "This page can not be viewed". Only way to fix it was to turn the phone off then back on. It worked fine after that. That same page that said it could not load, loaded this time perfectly.

  • IPhone 4 plug receptacle possibly broken.... What can be done?

I can plug it in but it doesn't seem to recognize the plug...I've tried a couple of them now...no charging, no data transfer.  I think the receptacle must be broken in the iPhone itself.  It worked a couple of times after I started having the problem but doesn't seem to work at all now...my phone is slowly losing its charge so I need to do something today - because I can't be without a working phone.
Can they easily fix this?  Do I take it to Verizon or an Apple store or is there something I can do myself to fix it possibly?  Thanks.

I would definitely take it to an Apple Store. It's hard to know without seeing it, but it sounds like one or more of the pins may be bent or missing.

  • Mini mac and a possible broken charger unit

In a discussion with a mate he asked if I ever had problems with charger units on my mac.
He uses a mini mac in connection to an external harddrive. That external harddrive currently died during runtime.
The mini mac itself was running fine till then - but it keeps shutting itself down after 5 minutes. No chance on reboot to run it again.
Only after removing the charger from the house power socket it is rebootable.
I never had any issues with the apple chargers yet myself. Might be that the step into virtual nirvana of the external harddrive damaged the charger, though I am not aware if the charger have a return line / return duct.
Does anyone here has experience with such kind of trouble shooting?
    Cheers in advace

Several thoughts come to mind, the first of which being that the mini doesn't have a 'charger' - it has an external power brick - thus it can't run unless it is plugged in.
That aside, to troubleshoot this problem it would really be better to have the owner/user of this system post here rather than you, simply because that would give us a first hand description of the problem and allow us to ask questions about the system and its behaviour. Doing it this way can make trying to work out what's going on far more difficult.
For example, what kind of Mac mini is this; how old is it; what is it used for; what software is installed on it; are the shutdowns accompanied by any fan activity; does the system simply shut down or are there any error messages or other dialog boxes on the display; what happens when an attempt is made to reboot it after a shutdown; how much time is needed after shutting down before it starts up again......?
My first reaction to the symptoms as briefly described is that the system is suffering from an overheating problem since the mini is designed to go into protective shutdown if it gets too hot. If that were the case then it would run a lot longer when started from cold than it would when rebooted after running a while. It isn't likely to be a problem with the power supply, since typically these either work or don't, but it isn't possible to rule it out completely until we have more information. The only way that the hard drive's power supply could have an effect is if it failed with a short circuit on the live side, which could be expected to pull down the mini's supply if it were plugged into the same power socket, though it would just as easily blow a house fuse/trip a breaker in that situation.

  • Please help!! Possibly broken mobile =(

i have a 6630 which i dropped in a sink full of water last night. i took it out and held it under the hand drier. i then took the battery out and the covers to dry them. when i took out the sim i snapped the peice of black plastic off that holds your sim in. the phone itself switches on but says it is in 'Offline' mode and has a large black cross through the bars that shows your signal. the sim now wont hold itself in the phone. i have tried sellotaping and blu-tacking the sim in to the phone. when i blu-tacked it in it actually asked me for my pin number which it hadn't been doing before..... but when i've typed it in it says 'General System Error' and then 'Sim Rejected'.
if anyone has any suggestions whatsoever on how i could possibly fix this i would be very appreciative if you could post on here. i have thought about taking it to a phone shop but i don't know which one to go to, don't know if you can get a replacement black piece of plastic and it's a Sunday =(
thank you for reading this and please try and help!!
    thanks Andrea

you should be able to get a new sim holder from your nearest nokia dealer.
as for getting the phone wet, take it to your nearest nokia service centre a.s.a.p. for them to check it out.
if the phone is insured, you only have 14 days to report water damage. iv had this happen and the insurance told me 'water ingress usually kills a phone' and they write it off and give you new one.
if you take it to an authorised nokia centre and it IS a write off, they can give you written proof, making any insurance claim easier.
offline mode is just a profile that allows you to use the phone whilst not attatched to your network.
if your sim is knackererd, if you get a new sim and ring your network provider, they can transfer the number to the new sim. good luck : )

  • EA6500 possibly broken?

I've got an EA6500 that I've been using for wireless. At the start of December 2013 my router was hacked (used without my permission, consuming over a hundred gigs of my bandwidth). I powered the thing down for a while and went with a wired hub instead (which I had prior to the router). After a while I turned it back on, reset the name, the passwords, etc, trying to be safe. I looked up security and discovered WPS... which apparently can be brute-force hacked in about four hours. So I shut that off (it's only there to make it 'easier' to get in, anyway, so I don't much care), along with Smart Tap.
Now my modem seems to be broken. The modem operates for a short while, and then loses connection entirely for a few minutes, comes back for a couple minutes, then goes away, and so on and so forth. The light on the device itself flashes slowly (fading in and out) while the connection is down. I think this mostly happens when I use the wifi aspect, but I'm not sure it didn't happen with a wired connection. I've tried resetting the entire device and setting it up from scratch and then turning off the WPS and Smart Tap before going on, but that doesn't work, either. If it matters, I name the 2.4 and 5 range wifi the same thing with the same password.
    Any suggestions?

Hard reset done, established a setup. Here's the setup (with some details **'d out). I'm now connecting wired through the router, but the wireless part isn't showing up at all on my list of wireless access points.

  • IPod classic possibly broken or damaged?

    Hello,
Not so long ago (around December) I purchased an 80GB iPod Classic. It worked fine up until possibly around March. Now, whenever I turn on the iPod, I hear a faint clicking sound within the system, and the only thing appearing on the screen is the Apple logo, which stays there until the iPod turns off (after a few seconds). I have tried almost every method, such as restoring, however, every time I connect my iPod to iTunes I receive a message stating that the iPod is in "recovery mode" and should be restored. However, every time I attempt to restore, I receive an error message, and it is often a different one every time! I have also tried Disk Mode, etc and nothing seems to be working sadly. So, any help would be appreciated!
P.S: My iPod is connected currently to a Mac.
    Thank You.

The clicking noise suggests there is an issue with the hard drive, especially if forcing the iPod into disk mode and restoring do not resolve the issue. You may want to set up service for your iPod online, or contact AppleCare and have them do it for you.

You can also take your iPod to a Genius Bar at an Apple store (with an appointment) if you have one located near you, and have them replace it for you.

  • Export resize possibly broken

I have a set of images that fit within 1400x1050.  I want them to fit within 1024x768.  As I have done before, I set the export directory, choose 1024x768 as the export size, highlight all of the images and click export.  The first image in the set shows what iis going wrong.  It starts out as 680x1050 and finishes as 680x1050.  Clearly this is wrong - it is not resizing.
Strangely, some of the images ARE corectly resized.  Random ones are not.
What is going on - have I found a bug????

You've encountered a known bug which is caused by having the "Don't Enlarge" option checked:

  • Possibly Broken Drive

I know that there's about fifty kabillion questions about drives, but nothing seems to help my specific problem.
I'm required to have an iBook G4 at my school, and every summer we have to turn in our computers so the tech office can re-image them for the new school year. This year, my drive has gotten worse and worse. The first thing I noticed was that when I put a DVD in, iDVD did not start automatically, like it used to. I couldn't get it to work, and I haven't tried since. What I'm most concerned about are CDs. At first, I could use them just fine. Then I noticed that sometimes the disc would be rejected or would not eject. It got more frequent, and now I can put a disc in but the computer does not detect it. Because of that I can't eject it without restarting my computer. Underneath my keyboard, the drive appears to be slightly dented.
Is there any way to fix the problem myself? I'd much rather try that than have to bring to the tech office because then I'd lose a lot of my documents, pictures, music, etc. and I would have to use a spare.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

weeearocketship, Welcome to the discussion area!
Did you just recently drop or drive over the iBook? If not, that "dent" has probably always been there and has no bearing on what you are experiencing.
Have you cleaned the drive lately? or at all? Dust can build up on the laser lens and cause problems.
Before taking the iBook to anyone for repair, copy your important documents or make an entire clone of the drive to an external FireWire drive.

  • K7T Turbo2 Secondary IDE possibly broken?

I've just bought a K7T Turbo2 Motherboard, and all seems to work except the secondary IDE slot. Here's the rundown:
My system has two hard disks, and two cd/dvd type drives. The hard disks are jumpered as master/slave on one channel, and the cd/dvd as master/slave on the other channel. I can plug either cable into the primary IDE and the bios recognises whatever is on there (either the two hard disks, or the dvd/cd). Whatever I plug into the secondary IDE does not get recognised. This suggests to me that the cables are fine, and since the jumper arrangement worked fine with my last pc and remains unchanged, I'm pretty sure it can only be the IDE2 socket or something I'm not doing right in the BIOS. That said, both IDE channels are DEFINITELY set to ENABLED in the BIOS, and yet I cannot select the secondary master/slave devices to be anything other than 'none'.
I've read the manual cover to cover and am at a loss for what to do next. Please help.  ?(
    Richard.

    :D  :D  :D  :D  :D
All sorted now. My own stupid fault - the board was being short-circuited by bits of the case (whatever it's called where the board is mounted). Took them off and all is good.

  • I need help on my possibly broken iPod touch 16GB (3rd Gen)

I've had this touch for more than 2 years (so warranty expired). One night I was charging my touch when I was sleeping. Unfortunately the window was open and it started raining. My touch didn't get soaked that much but noticed that the speakers weren't working because it was sensing that earphones were plugged into it (which none were). I dried my touch off as much as I could with a towel. Then I plugged some earphones into it afterwards and the sound worked fine. Unplugged the earphones and it still said it was sensing it, disabling the speakers. Randomly, when I pressed the home button as I was exiting the Music app the touch screen stopped working. I pressed the power and home button at the same time until the "slide to power off" red bar came up. I couldn't slide the red bar because the touch screen stopped working. I then proceeded to turning off my touch completely. Starting it up again holding the power and home button after a while. I got the apple logo, but faintly (as if the brightness level was at the lowest setting) and it didn't go to the home screen. It just was stuck at the apple logo. I pressed the power and home button again to turn it off and on and still got only the faint apple logo. I googled this problem and a solution I found was to plug it into my computer and press the power and home button. Now it won't show the apple logo at all when I hold down the power and home button. Now... well I'm typing this horrid situation to you guys... D:

I would try to turn off the iPod and dry it as suggested in he following:
    http://www.ehow.com/how5356376fix-wet-ipod-iphone.html
The charge it and maybe restore it. BTW, Apple only made 32 and 64 GB 3G iPods so I doubt you have a 3G. See the following for identifying your iPod:

  • Broken power supply: is there an easy fix?

Somehow when I plugged my iPod into a (usually reliable) AC adapter at work, it horrendously bent the pins inside the power supply. Now I can't plug it in at all - and it's dead, which is heartbreaking. Perhaps I'm a bit of a fool, but I thought all iPod adapters would fit my iPod (the adapter at work had always worked before). Why did this happen?
Anyway, is there a way that I can fix this cheaply? The curt, unfriendly guy at the Apple Store told me it would cost over $100 (He was a jerk! Come on, Apple Store, upgrade your staff.). Is there a home-repair solution? Or contractors who do this sort of repair for a more reasonable price and with a nicer attitude?

No, I think I have damaged the docking port on my iPod. Or "dock connector". The pins (or whatever they're called) are bent and possibly broken. Someone said to me I could just buy a broken iPod (like with a cracked screen) and use it for parts - does anyone know if that's possible, or know of any resources for that sort of thing?
Thanks for replying, by that way.

  • Fixed broken power supply plug

Hi and thanks to everyone for all the info I have picked off this site.
I have read from quite a few people that they have had problems with the computer side plugs of the power adapter. My first adapter was replaced by apple when it gave up the goast. Unfortunately the replacement adapter started to show signs of impending death. Not being an expert fixer upper, but being aggressively cheap, I timed my moment perfectly. I waited until I really had to work the cord to get power, called the local apple shop and made sure they had a power adapter in stock.... then got out the knife!
Using a utility knife and a small screw driver, you can seperate the plug jacket from the meat of the plug. I then cut open the plastic packing around the cord, and unsoldered the wires connected to the plug. I cut back the wires to before the short, rethread the wires through a plastic anchor that was lodged in the packing, put that back in the cut packing and resoldered the wires to the plug. One of the wires was actually a sheathing that was wrapped around the second wire.
After putting it back together, I put some white heat shrink wrap over the plug and melted it on for support. Knowing where these supplies tend to break, I am quite confident that the shrink wrap will really protect the pluc from future breaks. Being white, it does not look like a fix!
    Presto... no flickering...expensive power supply.
    Hope that helps!

  • Language Import broken and locked

    Hello,
during the language import, the process is for some reason broken. But when I tried to start it again, but it says "Language locked, you cant perform this action".
In "SM12", I didn't find any lock entry. In one SAP note (1064502), it is said to delete something from table "TPSTAT". But I don't what should be deleted.
Any help is appriciated. Thank you very much.

    P.S.
    Possible Broken Reason:
    1. inside SLOG0810.PFQ:

    2. another reason could be:
the language file system is over mounted. I umount one time during the import.

  • How do I migrate iMovie project data/pointers from iPhoto to Aperture?

This may be a rather tricky question but here is what I want to do. I have 22GB of Photo's/Video's in iPhoto that I originally used at some point in the past to create some travel home movies. I currently have about 44GB of Photo's/Vid in Aperture. I like Aperture so much that I never use iPhoto anymore.
I've started moving just the albums with pictures in iPhoto over to Aperture. (simple enough) But now I have a lot of space I need to free up.
My question is possibly broken down into 2 parts.
    1) How do I move albums with photo's & video to Aperture and index them accordingly without affecting the iMovie projects that link to the original iPhoto data?
I want to keep my iMovie projects the way they are, in editable form, thus eliminating the need for iPhoto, so I can clean up 22GB.
    2) In iMovie, on the left window pane, it says "iPhoto Library" & "Aperture Library", with all the old iMovie projects pointing to the iPhoto library. Would moving the rest of my iPhoto library into Aperture automatically purge iMovie editable video projects?
I've backed everything up onto an external hdd, so I would sincerely appreciate any help on this topic. It sounds complicated, but I think it should be fairly straightforward. However, I thought I'd ask the community before actually attempting to do so.
Again, appreciate your help folks. Thanks.

Thanks for your suggestions, However I tried to do a simple test on one very short iMovie project and this is what has occurred:
Setup: (iPhoto '11, iMovie '11, Aperture 3.1.1 - All up to date)
to understand what's going on, prior to what I did below this is how my projects are setup, iPhoto has an event & album tagged F1 Montreal Weekend '08 with both photo / video. (my test project for the purposes of trying to get this to work) iMovie has a project I created based on that photo video and it's saved as an iMovie project called 'F1 Montreal' with references to the iPhoto database.
    Action:
First, in Aperture, I imported the whole iPhoto event above which brought over all 192 photos and about 36 videos. I then filed it in aperture under my new way of storing albums/videos and created a smart album for video within the Aperture project. Once I verified all the data is there, I then trashed the iPhoto event and album mentioned above to free up some space since it's now in Aperture. Finally, i closed both iPhoto & Aperture and loaded up iMovie.
    Results:
The project 'F1 Montreal' shows up as normal, with all its edits and such after clicking edit project. However, there is a little yellow exclamation mark that says this on every slice of video:
"This clips media file is not currently available.
    /users/{me}/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Masters/2008/F1 Montreal/{moviehere}.mov"
After some research on what this is and how to fix it, it seems there's no menu option to repoint the movie files to a different location, am I missing something or have I moved / merged these files the wrong way? Apparently there is some help in the iMovie help file that shows how to reconnect data, but I can't find it anywhere.
I would really appreciate any additional help on how to do this. I'm sure someone's tried doing this before, yes?
    Thanks!
