POSSIBLE BUG IN ACROBAT PRO X

I have Acrobat Pro X installed on OS Windows 7 Ultimate. I was running IE 8 and then I upgraded to IE 9 and the problem is the same.
PROBLEM: When I am on a website like Amazon, AT&T, Verizon or some other sites...when I right click on a page and want to access the drop down menu to make a Convert to Adobe PDF or Create PDF file the computer crashes and goes to a blue screen where it does a crash dump.
When I go to some websites and make a purchase I have been able to right click and save a PDF file for the receipt on all the websites I have gone to and I have never had a problem until  the past month. This has also happened on 3 different computers. Is there a patch or something else which may work?
Thanks,
Dale

Acrobat X is not compatible with Internet Explorer 9, though it is being worked on.

  • Setting trim box bug in Acrobat Pro 7 & 8 - try it...

I have filed this bug a few times with Adobe over the past months but there doesn't seem to be any movement. I'd download the trial of Acrobat 9 Pro to check but alas us Mac users are not deemed worthy of that.
I implore anyone who can to try out the following:
    - Open up an existing PDF or create a new, blank one. Zoom out to a point where you get a good amount of "no-man's land" gray around your document.
    - Go to Document->Crop Pages... and pick "trim box" from the drop down menu.
Now start moving the right-hand constraint of the trim box using the "up" arrow widget and see what happens in the main document window. For me and the users that I support, the guide that represents the right-hand trim box constraint will start coming in from the right-most side of the document window, that is, inside the gray out-of-bounds area. In addition to the guide being in the wrong place it also doesn't get redrawn every time the right-hand margin is moved by the standard .125" step by clicking the "up" or "down" widget. As a result there will be a whole mess of black vertical guides left on the screen, obscuring the actual position of the guide regardless of whether or not it is placed on the screen in accordance to the right-hand trim box constraint setting. Similarly, the main document can be zoomed in to fit to window but the guide will still be drawn incorrectly and exhibit the same "ghosting".
All of this has remained the same between versions 8.0 and 8.1.2 of Acrobat Pro and in one of my discussions with an Adobe tech rep who was testing it on his side I was told it also exists in Acrobat Pro 7. It is an issue because the small preview window in the Crop Pages window is not very useful when working with large document dimensions that need precise trimming adjustments beyond a standard eight or quarter inch all around.
Hopefully someone else can confirm this issue while I try to find out whether Acrobat 9 still exhibits the same behavior.
    Thanks.

This has been a problem since version 8 on the mac. Acrobat 7 on the mac worked fine with the right side trim but not on the PC.
We are still having this problem with Acrobat 9.4.0 on the Mac & PC.
This has now been an issue for 2 versions of Acrobat Pro.(8 & 9)
Being in Pre Press and having to constantly set the trim for jobs, this is now taking up too much time and costing money.
    Please fix this Adobe.
and on another note. how hard would it be to display the trim (if set) next to where the page size is?
If the trim is set it should display it! why should we have to go to document/crop pages>trim.
Im in a busy Pre Press Dept and the amount of times you have to check a trim size is stupid.
I always set prefs to display crop / trim / and bleed boxes and this helps but it should display it if its set.
    Thanks
    Hope this is resolved soon.

  • Possibility to execute Acrobat Pro's "Combine files into PDF" function from within SAP?

    Good day.
Presently, a company uses Acrobat Pro to manually combine files such as *.pdf, *.jpg, *.doc, which have been downloaded from SAP's Document Management System, into one pdf file. I would like to know if it is possible to automatically execute Acrobat Pro's "Combine files into PDF" function from within SAP (ECC 6.0) application system. I'm wondering if this could be achieved from a program via OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) or RFC (remote function call).
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and inputs.

Yes, you can combine PDF files via IAC/COM methods.

  • Bugs with Acrobat Pro & OFfice 2003

Hello. I bought/downloaded Acrobat Pro yesterday and immediately started having probs with office 2003. I have lost most mouse functions in word and outlook. I can no longer click in the body of the documents. Tried closing and restarting and still same prob.  Any suggestions on how to fix?

    Good morning.
I just installed acrobat 10 (it's the latest version that they are selling
on adobe's website) and yes, when I uninstall, the issues go away.  I then
tried reinstalling acrobat and the probs came back.

  • Possible to use Acrobat Pro 9.3.2 with Safari 5?

Prior to recent installation of Safari 5, I was able to view pdfs in my browser window using the fully-featured Acrobat plug-in. Now, the only choice I seem to have is disable the Acrobat reader and use Preview.
Is there any way to get my Adobe functionality back?
Adobe tells me 9.3.2 Pro is the latest. Safari 5.0 seems to be the latest too.
    I am running 10.5.8.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

After considerable experimentation, I've gotten it to work, but with issues I'd like to pursue:
    1. After a few quits, restarts and cache clearing, I have noticed that I cannot view pdfs (a) on websites I've created using Rapid Weaver 4.4.1 (latest) (b) if they are password protected unless (c) I have saved the username and password to my keychain.
    2. All other commercial websites, protected or otherwise, that have pdfs I can download without difficulty.
    3. All pdfs on sites/directories of my own creation that are not password protected download and show just fine.
Is this an issue with my Rapid Weaver pages? My web host?
I'd like to be able to log in on my laptop, enter my username and password to gain access to the site, without putting the info on my keychain, if possible.

  • Cannot Print in Acrobat Pro 9.4.2 (XP Pro SP3), but Other Apps Can

I am unable to print PDFs on my workstation unless I drag them from a Windows Explorer session and drop them on an open printer window (Start, Printers and Faxes, double-click on printer to open window). I have Acrobat 9 Professional (ver. 9.4.2) running under Windows XP Pro (SP3). I cannot print a PDF from within Acrobat or from within a browser window. I have done a "repair install" on Acrobat and rebooted. When I try to print from within Acrobat or a browser window, I do not receive any form of error message. There is no indication of any problem. If I have the printer window open window (Start, Printers and Faxes, double-click on printer to open window) and I try to print from Acrobat or a browser, I never see anything appear in the window, even briefly. If I drag a PDF from Windows Explorer and drop it in the printer window, the document name appears briefly in the window and the document prints.
I have double checked my printer settings from within Acrobat to make sure that it is not "printing to file." The correct printer *is* selected.
I've tried printing to different printers in the office. I've even tried printing to the "virtual printer" which is a front-end to our fax server. No dice. If I monitor the printers folder (which lists every printer that my workstation can print to currently), the "documents" column (which shows the number of documents in the queue to be printed) never changes from zero.
The fact that I can drag a PDF from Windows Explorer and drop it on a printer and get it to print really puzzles me, since I thought that this was only possible if either Acrobat Pro (or other paid version) or Acrobat Reader was installed. That is, I thought that Windows XP cannot print a PDF unless some sort of PDF reader (Acrobat, Nitro, etc.) is installed. Then again, I may be mistaken. *IF* indeed Windows XP doesn't know how to print a PDF without help from a PDF reader of some sort (Acrobat Reader, Nitro, etc.), then how is it that I can drag, drop and print, but I can't print from within Acrobat Pro itself? Meanwhile, all other apps print just fine to any given printer.
FYI... this question has languished for two weeks with no solution at experts-exchange.com. I've never stumped them before. I've never waited more than 24 hours for an answer there before, and usually a solution takes just an hour or two. This suggests to me that my situation is quite rare. Can anyone get me on track?

  • Can I create a custom-scripted dynamic stamp in Acrobat Standard or do I have to buy Acrobat Pro?

I am researching options for the company I work for to take it's invoicing system paperless and I need to know if I can create a custom-scripted dynamic stamp in Acrobat Standard or is that possible only in Acrobat Pro?

You can create a custom dynamic stamp in Std. and Pro. and you can use the dynamic stamp in Reader as well. Here is an infographic on Creating a Custom Dynamic Stamp in Acrobat XI.

  • BUG in acrobat 10.1.1 for mac

i found a bug in acrobat pro 10.1.1 running on mac osx 10.7.2
whenever i try to zoom by using the "Cmd" + "+" key, the pdf document is rotated 90 degree clockwise instead of zoomin the page like in previous updates (10.0 - 10.1)
please fix this bug in the next update adobe.
    thanks!

Are you sure didn't have the Shift key down at the same time as you pressed Cmd and the + (plus) key?
Cmd-Shift-plus and Cmd-Shift-minus are the shortcuts for rotate clockwise and counterclockwise.
For me, with Acrobat X 10.1.1 on Lion Mac OS X 10.7.2, Cmd-plus and Cmd-minus are working fine for zooming in and zooming out.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 10 does not start anymore

This happened to me three times now. One time Adobe Acrobat Pro 10 is working properly for weeks. It crashes once and after that it does not start anymore without providing a message or clue.
What I used to do is remove CS6 completely and reinstall it. But this is tedious. Just uninstalling Acrobat Pro and reinstalling it doesn't do the trick.
My guess is that a setting is stopping Acrobat Pro from starting. Is it possible to reset Acrobat Pro settings to the factory default? I've already remove the folders under
    %LOCALAPPDATA% \adobe\acrobat and
    %APPDATA% \adobe\acrobat
    but this doesn't help.

Ok. This occasion I had a bit of time on my hand and found a solution yuhu!
Make sure you have access to you license key as you have to enter it new after this procedure
    1) Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\cache
    2) Delete or rename the file cache.db
    3) Open Acrobat Pro, you will be asked to license the software again under your Adobe-ID again.
    4) If asked to connect to your Adobe-ID and re-enter the license key.
Now Acrobat Pro is working (as are all the other CS6 applications.

  • Safari 5 and Acrobat Pro 9 Still at War?

Is it still not possible to use Acrobat Pro 9.4.6 as the Safari 5.1.2 browser.  It's running on an iMac Core i7 and 10.6.8.  Do I still have to dumb Safari down to 32 bit?

    Hi mullenanthonyj ,
Thank you for posting on the Adobe forums, firstly you would not be able to install Acrobat 9 over Acrobat 11.
Secondly Adobe does not recommend installing two versions of Acrobat together on one system, i might create unexpected behavior in functionality
    Thanks,
    Vikrantt Singh.

  • Scripting bugs and anomalies in Acrobat Pro XI

I've downloaded the trial version of Acrobat Pro XI and starting testing it out with various scripts and actions. The results are far from good, I'm afraid.
Here are some of my findings, so far:
    1. The Action Wizard is very cumbersome and un-intuitive. It took me several minutes to figure out how to change the default setting to a specific folder, and I still can't find where to select the input file types to be processed. Also, what's the relation between the "Default option" and the Add File and Add Folder buttons? Very strange UI decisions there. I don't care about panels and dividers, but I do want the actual commands to make sense*.
    2. Another very bad decision is moving the Save command to a different section. What's the point of making it just another "tool" in the list? If you want to use it, you'll want to use it at the end of the process, not somewhere in the middle... And as it stands now, if you don't add it explictly, the changes are not saved at all.
    3. After running an Action, some of the files remain open in the window. I was looking for a Close File command, but couldn't find any such thing. Is this a bug?
    4. I'm running a script that processes some files. After finishing, the files are automatically saved and overwritten, even though I haven't added that command yet to my script. Very serious bug!
    5. After running some scripts and actions, working with hidden files, I've tried to access app.activeDocs. The result was an infinite loop of this error message:
After a while I had to close down Acrobat from the Task Manager.
I must say I'm very disappointed with this release, so far, and would not recommend anyone to upgrade to it.
    * Speaking of commands that don't make sense, what's the point of the Document JavaScripts command in the Action Wizard? All it does is open that window... This doesn't make sense at all in an automated action. It should have given you the option to automatically embed a piece of code in a file, not let you do it manually.

    Hi there,
Your feedback is interesting as this is the very first time we receive some negative feedback about Actions in Acrobat XI.
First of all what do you mean by "what's the relation between the "Default option" and the Add File and Add Folder buttons" ?
If don't have the time to go through the help nor documentation here a brief answer:
    - Default option allows the author of an action to specify the behavior and settings for the command. In the case of Add File and Add Folder it will drive user running the action about the type of location the file(s) should be retrieved from: a scanner, cloud repository, a specific folder, etc. This is a bit of improvement over Acrobat X, but not a significant change in the behavior.
I hope this is what you were questionning about.
"Another very bad decision is moving the Save command to a different section"
While this may not be convenient for you, I don't think it's enough to state that it's been a very bad decision since most users like it. It's also more flexible and more powerful. It makes it possible for instance, to save a document with a different naming convention at different points of the action which is an important improvement for some users. I am sure that after you've played with it a little bit more you will agree with that.
"After running an Action, some of the files remain open in the window"
Files that have been loaded by the Action playback should be closed, unless that have something special. Otherwise it could be a bug.
" I'm running a script that processes some files. After finishing, the files are automatically saved and overwritten"
It can only be because the JavaScript contains instructions to save the files, or the Action does. Otherwise it would be a bug and I'd be curious to know more about it as Acrobat is VERY robust about this.
Please provide the files in question I'll be happy to spend time debugging the case.
"After running some scripts and actions, working with hidden files, I've tried to access app.activeDocs. The result was an infinite loop of this error message:"
This is out of my scope and will ask around me how it's supposed to work. Hopefully we'll get an answer from the script folks quickly.
Please share files and way to reproduce the issues you meet, considering that you are the first person to provide such negative feedback there might be some misunderstanding somewhere.
    Best,
    Luc Leroy
