  • Is it possible to delete e-mails from Nokia's mail...

    Hello everyone,
I have an E52 with the latest firmware, and I have a question about using it's built-in mail client. I'm using it with Yahoo mail.
Is it possible to set up the mail client so that when I delete an e-mail message on my phone it doesn't delete that message in my online inbox? Do you understand me, I would like to delete e-mail message headers from my inbox, but only on my phone. Right now, as soon as I delete an e-mail message on my phone, it deletes that  same message in my online inbox as well.
I would like to delete them to free up phone memory.
    Thanks!

    I think I found a solution,
If I delete the e-mails from my phone inbox while the mail client is ofline (I just click Cancel when it asks me for a connection) and then update the mailbox, it looks like it doesn't delete those messages in the online inbox..
I just deleted some 20 e-mails from my phone (while in ofline mode) and then logged on to my yahoo mail on my PC. It said I have 3081 e-mails in my inbox. Then I connected my phone client and refreshed phone mail inbox. Those 20 messages I deleted from my phone are still in my Yahoo mail inbox (still 3081 e-mails there).

  • Cannot delete e-mail account on iphone, profiles were deleted but still not possible to delete account

I am not able to delete e-mail accounts on my iphone. I deleted the profiles but I still cannot delete the account. In settings-general the profiles are not there anymore.

and I was able to delete the profiles successfully, but I still can't delete the account. I'll have to go to the store tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

  • With the new i0s7 update I can't delete the mail in my inbox all at once.  I see there is the edit which allows you to mark all and to the right of that is MOVE and TRASH, why when you mark all you can't access these two options?

In the new ios7 update, why can't you mark all your messages in the inbox all at once?  The EDIT tab lets you Mark All and off to the right is greyed out "move" and "trash", why can't you Select all and then press TRASH.  It only lets you mark them as Flag, or mark as read.  This *****!

    Hi Scottay777,
Per pg 52 of the iOS7 User Manual, what you describe should be possible:
Delete, move, or mark multiple messages. While viewing a list of messages, tap Edit. Select some messages or tap Mark All, then choose an action. If you make a mistake, shake iPhone immediately to undo.

If a button isn't responding correctly in Mail, you may want to try forcing it to close and then relaunch it. You may find the following article helpful:

  • Please tell me it's possible to recover Mail data.

    Hello,
Ok I just did a BIG "oooops!" on sister inlaw's Macbook! Ok so I'm try to send an email and then notice that it will not send and just sits in the Outbox. She's on Comcast so I go to the Comcast page and look for Apple Mail settings and compare those to the settings that she has.....I see her are not correct, so I inadvertently remove her mail settings.......So I thought. **** it all if that didn't just REMOVE all of her email! **** it! Well, being on Comcast I check her settings and see that it's set to NOT delete any read mail and only delete unread mail after 45 days. So I'm thinking, 'Whewww!', right? WRONG! When I check her Webmail, there is NOTHING there! Apparently Apple Mail removed the messages from the server after it downloaded them!
****! Things are looking pretty bleak about now, unless I can find a recover utility that can recover the older removed mail data files that were there before I deleted them. I don't know what OSX has in terms of data recovery. I have a few things in Windows that would do the trick on Windows, but that don't help me here!
So my next question is, are there some recovery tools that can get her mail back. I have already tried to recreate her mail settings, so I hope that hasn't already overwritten the info. I'm trying to retrieve!
Thanks SOOOOOO much for ANY help!
    Thanks!
    Jeff

    Basics of File Recovery
    Files in Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location. OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone. Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.
Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on Data Recovery.
There's no assurance that you will recover anything. If Comcast maintains temporary backups of mail accounts you could see if they can restore a prior state of her account. But don't count on it.

  • Deleting hotmail mail on phone and mac

    Hi,
I wonder if anyone could help ...
I want deleted mail on my iphone not to appear in mail on my macbook. (and vice versa) E.g. I delete an email on my iphone and then sync the phone with my mail (via itunes) ... open my mail account and it not show up ...
At the moment i seem to have to delete e-mail on both even after i have synced the mail.
    Thanks,
    Mani

It is now possible to access a Hotmail account as an Exchange account with the iPhone's Mail app thanks to Microsoft making use of their copying which is all they do - following Google's lead in this regard, but I don't believe it is possible to do the same with an email client on your computer.
You can access a Gmail account as a POP, IMAP or Exchange account with the iPhone's Mail app and as a POP or IMAP account with an email client on your computer.
You can access a Hotmail account as a POP or Exchange account with the iPhone's Mail app and as a POP account only with an email client on your computer.
If Microsoft decides to copy Google with one more step by supporting accessing a Hotmail account as an IMAP account as well with an email client on your computer and with the iPhone's Mail app, what you are wanting would be possible.

  • Possible to move mail folder in 10.4.6?

    Hi there,
I'm back after a while of neither reading or posting...
I have the following question and couldn't find an answer by searching either archives or the net... (maybe I didn't find the right phrase...)
I'm on an upgraded Lombard PB (G4, 433, 512 MB RAM, 40GB HD, 5400 rpm) and am pretty happy with the performance... Tiger is installed on a partition of 8 GB. Now with all my mails and other stuff the space on that partition is getting sparse...
I used Macaroni to delete localized files and am thinking if I could put the mail storage folder on to an other partition that would give me some more space... is that possible?
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dirk.

Quit Mail and drag the entire Mail folder in your home folder to the external partition. Next, rename the Mail folder in the Finder and open the Terminal in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder. Enter the following:
    ln -s
followed by a space. Drag the Mail folder from the external partition onto the Terminal window, and then add another space and the following to the command:
    ~/Library/Mail
When the command is complete, it will be something like:
    ln -s /Volumes/volumename/path/Mail ~/Library/Mail
At this point, press Enter to complete the procedure; nothing will appear in the Terminal window if the command succeeds. The l in the command is a lowercase L. Reopen Mail and verify that everything works as it did before; if there aren't any problems for a couple of days, it is safe to delete the Mail folder on the main partition. This method can be modified to move your whole home folder; in this case, you may need to enter the actual path of the folder as the last part of the command instead of using ~.

  • Help I lost my email after deleting my mail acount

I lost my email after deleting my mail acount there was nothoing in the trash and I have important email whish were in the reception folder. What can I do ? Thanks

It all depends on the type of account and how it was configured. For IMAP-type accounts, mail is stored on the server, and setting up the account again is all that's needed to regain access to your mail.
If you deleted a POP account, however, then all your mail stored locally in that account's mailboxes has certainly been wiped out, not just moved somewhere, and you were warned that this would happen by the following alert:
    Remove Account
Are you sure you want to remove the <AccountType> account "<AccountName>"?
This will permanently delete the account setup information, mailboxes, and messages from your computer. Messages stored on the mail server will not be affected.
For each mail account, Mail creates a folder within ~/Library/Mail/ whose name starts with the account type (POP, IMAP, .Mac), followed by the account username and the incoming mail server. Deleting the account causes this folder and everything within it to be deleted as well.
If the POP account was configured to leave mail on the server for some time instead of removing it right away, incoming mail that's still on the server can be downloaded by setting up the account again, just like for IMAP accounts, but keep in mind that this would only work for received (i.e. not sent) mail that has not yet been removed from the server.
If the messages are not on the server, and you don't have a backup, your only option is to try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage. Of these, the only one I know for sure that can recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.

  • ICloud Mail, deleting all mail.

I have been using the iCloud mail from quite sometime now (Sense the first iPod Touch) and I have noticed it has grown quite a bit from the first release of the iCloud severs came out with the mail option and there is nothing that has shown me how to delete all mail from the server on the system and it is kinda heard to delete my Gmail n' iCloud mail with the combination of over 3500 E-Mail on file from the server in my inbox so is there any possible way to delete all of the mail?

You Gmail wouldn't be on the iCloud server; iCloud only hosts iCloud email.  To delete your iCloud email, open your mail on icloud.com, click a folder on the left (such as your inbox), click on a single message to the right, scroll down and shift-click another email to select the range, then click on the trash can icon at the top.  You will get an error if you try to select too many at once so you'll have to experiment to see how many you can select to delete at a time.  Repeat this for each of your mail folders except Trash.  When finished, click on the actions (gear-shaped) icon on the upper right and select Empty Trash.

  • E71 How to delete e-mail headers from phone (IMAP ...

I use IMAP e-mail, so all none deleted e-mails stay on the server and are accessable from anywhere.
I have realised that I can't delete e-mail headers from the phone (I only want the last 7 days or so) . The delete options are: delete from Server and Phone, delete from phone - header remains.
This means that I am building a huge list of headers and will be useing memory.
Anyone found a way around this?
    Many thanks. Peter

Nokia email client is not supported for my device (7610).
Also, it seems, there is no way to delete the headers selectively. Normally, when you want to handle the emails through your mobile device, you want to keep only important ones and delete the rest. So, possibly, Nokia can consider this for the future updates of the software, where user can delete the headers selectively to keep the inbox uncluttered and only as per the requirement.

  • Accidentally Deleted the Mail Icon on IMac

I accidentally deleted the Mail icon on my IMac. I can't find it in "Applications" folder either, so maybe I deleted something more serious?!
How do I reinstall the mail icon or find the application in my system?
    Thanks.

Perform a custom install from the Mac OS X 10.4 disk and install only that component if possible; if not, use Pacifist to install it. In either case, run the combo updater for your Mac OS X version afterward.

Are you referring to @mac.com, @me.com or @icloud.com emails? Or some other email providers emails?
If the former, it should do that automatically. If the latter, no. iCloud does not (nor is it supposed to) sync non-Apple provided emails.

How do I clean up mail in my icloud?  I have already deleted old mail (from all my e-mail accounts) on all devices, and emptied the junk & deleted files, but it still shows that I am at max on my icloud. What do I do to free up space? (photos & apps do not take up that much room).  When I go to manage storage on any device & it will display how much room each program or app is using, it still shows that my e-mail is taking up the most room.  Is there a way to actually log on to the icloud server to manage what it stored there?  If so, how do I do it?  Also, on a related subject,  why does my mail not sync accross all devices?   ie. when I delete an email on one device, why do I still see it on all my other devices?  How can I change this?
I have an iphone5, ipad2, ipod 4th gen, ipod 3rd gen, all running on my same apple id - but I have a PC not a Mac home computer - is this part of the problem?  Looking to upgrade to a Mac sometime this year...

Mail is backed up automatically. If you make backups automatically, open Mail application and then, open the Time Machine app (in /Applications/Utilities). You will access to the Time Machine interface, and you will be able to see all your mails of all the backups you have, and you will be able to restore them. It means that your mails are backed up onto the Time Capsule
