Possible fixes to install/update Flash Player in IE 9
OK just spent a couple of hours attempting to get IE 9 (32-bit) to install Flash 10.2.153.1. Tried all the troubleshooting advice - turned off security, etc.
Problem: When clicked on download button, the download page would come up but nothing happened.
Solution: Discovered setting in IE 9 called "Active X Filtering". It's located in the Tools Menu/Saftey section. If it has a check mark, un-check it and try Flash install again. This solved my problem - hope it helps others.
FYI - I'm running Win7 64-bit OS. After also unchecking "ActiveX Filtering" in IE 9 (64-bit), the 64-bit Flash Player preview "Square" could also be downloaded and installed.
If nothing else works try the MANUAL INSTALLER located at:
Flash Player 10 ActiveX (Internet Explorer 32-bit) http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
Flash Player 10 Plugin (All other Windows browsers, such as Firefox or Google Chrome) http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
Have a good day.
Hi, Thanks for your input. Just to add a bit of info, when Win7 came out with the SP1, this was included with that also. Whether this is turned on by default I haven't heard.
I agree on the Manual Uninstall/Install also. Now Google Chrome is embedded with Flash Player and updates on it's own.
Glad you figured it all out:-)

unable to install updated flash player to my mac os. Ive empty cache, tried downloading it directly safe mode, and still nothing
Hi Blanca rey
You Can try Uninstalling Flash Player using - Uninstall Flash Player | Mac OS
and Use the Offline Flash Player Installer for Mac (Safari and Firefox) from here - Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac
Hope it helps,
While you try the above suggestion, can you also share the Version of Mac on which you are updating Flash Player and how are you doing it?
Thanks

Installing update Flash Player on Windows 8.1
Dell Inspiron 660, Windows 8.1, Flash player pre-installed as noted in control panel at 14.0.0.145. I would like to update to Flash player 14.0.0.176. Is that possible and how would I do that? The note that comes up at Adobe's website is that the flash player is pre-installed so I don't have to install it. Well, yes, but it is dated, so I do. You would think it would just do it automatically like Java, but no.

Installing Updated Flash Player
I have tried to install an updated version of flash player several times. When I come to step 2, it reads "blocked plug-in". How do I install this program?
Spotlight search “Flash Player.plugin” (Search “This Mac” and choose "Show All in Finder")
Right click the Plugin and select “Open Enclosing Folder” Trash the Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt files.
Go to: [user]/Library/Preferences.
Note: You'll need to hold the "Option" key when you click "Go" from the Finder menu to access the [user] Library:
Without the "Option" key
And WITH
Trash the Macromedia folder there.
Go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support. Trash the Macromedia folder there.
Go to: Mac HD/Library/Preference Panes (not Preferences, but Preference Panes). Trash the Flash Player.prefpane file there.
Empty the trash.
Download the Flash Player (For Mac OS X) again if necessary.
Quit Safari and go to your downloads folder. Double click the DMG to “mount it”.
It will appear on your desktop and a small window will open.
Double click the installer. If you see a warning, click “Open” to let it run.
Click “I have read and agree… etc.” and click “Install”. Enter your password when asked.
You may see the following: click “Force Close All” if you do, and then click “Retry”.
The installer will run.
Choose your update preference, and click “Done”.
Open Safari again and click Safari>Preferences (Cmd+,)
Go to the Security tab. Make sure “Allow plug-ins” is checked. -
Help installing updating Flash Player.
I can't get beyond the "I have read and agreed to the terms" screen. It asks me to click on "read the license" which I do. I scroll down. Seems like I've read it all. Go back to the screen and it doesn't recognize that I've read it so won't let me install? What's the trick. Used to be a quick agreement to agree to now there's a zillion choices.
This morning we resolved a problem that prevented Flash Player installations from completing for some of our Macintosh users.
If you encountered this problem, please delete any previously downloaded Flash Player installer and either:
1.) Download the installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
2.) Download the stand-alone installer from http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg -
Cannot install Updated Flash Player
I've tried several times without success to update my Adobe Flash Player software to version 11.7.700.169. Here's what happens: Whenever I need to use Flash Player, I am told my current version is "vulnerable" and automatically connected with the Adobe installation page. I click on "Download Now," and a rectangle appears that says, "Preparing installation. Please wait," along with a progress bar. But once the progress bar stops and the rectangle goes away, no Opening dialog box appears. In fact, nothing appears. Does anyone know how I can get past this point or how I might update my Flash Player software another way? Thanks.
I have a ThinkPad T61 laptop with Windows XP Professional 32-bit operating system, and I browse with Firefox 20.0.1.Download and run the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header (under the header Progress Bar Hangs).

Problems installing/updating Flash Player
Hello
I am currently running Windows 7 64bit
I noticed that my web browser would hang when playing certain flash based adverts on web pages. I wasn't sure of this was a Firefox 4 problem or a Flash problem so thought to re-install flash player in the first instance and go from there
In add/remove programs I noticed that the version installed was 10.3.181.22 but in the addons section in Firefox it was showing as 10.3.181.14
Anyway, using add/remove programs I uninstalled Flash Player and rebooted my PC. I downloaded the 10.3.181.22 installer from the Adobe website but now when I try to run it I keep getting the error message “The installation encountered errors: Flash Player could not be installed because an existing version may still be in use. Please close all applications using Flash Player and try again”
However when I go into add/remove programs again Flash Player is installed as version 10.3.181.22. Checking the addons in Firefox it is showing as 10.3.181.14. The Adobe website also shows me as having WIN 10,3,181,14
I have been through the Troubleshoot Flash Player Installation webpage and tried the stuff there in but I am still having the problem. Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas as to what might be causing it?
Many ThanksHi, it sounds like some application that uses Flash may have not been disabled. Try this: Download and SAVE the Uninstaller to your Desktop: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for IE- use the EXE Installer (if you want FP Installed in IE)
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for FF- use the EXE Installer for plugin based (from the same site)
Close all browser windows, disable any instant messenger services as yahoo, msn, etc from the system tray(area near the clock)
Disable your realtime Anti-Virus.
Use the Administrator Account
Run the Uninstaller and then reboot(restart) your computer.
Check to make sure your Anti-Virus is still disabled.
Then Run the Installer for IE(if you want Flash Player Installed), then Run the Installer for FF. When finished, Reboot.
Turn your Anti-Virus back on along with anything disabled in the system tray.
Test each browser here, and you should be able to see the Flash Player logo(Red F) animate(spin)
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
You can print these instructions out to make it easier to follow since you will be offline until finished.
Thanks,

I downloaded and clicked the dmg to install latest update. It got to 51% complete and then stopped instructing me to close Safari. Sarfari was already closed and not running. Hit retry and got same message. Tried a reboot and install but still got same message. Don't understand why it says close when it is already closed?
It's probably still running somewhere in the background. If you are on a Mac, use the Activity Monitor to close running applications. On Windows use the Task Manager.

Install problems Flash Player 9
I had adobe flash player installed last week (and
previously). Some things weren't working, so i uninstalled,
reinstalled. Today, I went to do two separate things using adobe
flash player, and it wouldn't work. I uninstalled again, went to
re-install and the message:
'Sorry, your platform not supported'
shows up instead of downloading.
What is this, and why do I have this when I just had adobe
installed last week?
Thanks for your help.
BethI have similar problems trying to install /update Flash
Player 9 r124 on a WinXP workstation. Despite having followed
Technical Note 19166, I am unable to install the player at all.
This is troublesome because it means I can't support my customers
on IE6 or 7, thus asking them to use Firefox or Safari.
These update problems only occurred the day after the big CS4
launch. Adobe, are you planning on addressing this issue? -

I have tried several times to download and install Adobe Flash Player update version 11.7.700.169 without success. My OS is Windows XP with SP3 and my web browser is Internet Explorer. My current Adobe Flash Player version is 11.6.602.180. In the Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player IE window I unchecked the checkbox "Yes, install Chrome as my default browser and Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer - optional" and clicked [UpdateNow]. Then I followed the installation instuctions. When I tried to run the installer I got an Internet Explorer Script Error dialog box.
I then clicked yes on the Scrippt Error dialog box and it closed. The new version did not install. I still have the old version.
What am I doing wrong?Download and run the offline installer(s) from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header (under the heading Progress bar hangs...).

I successfully installed Adobe Flash Player 11.7.700.169 onto my Macbook Air 2012 (OS 10.7.5) and when I went onto website (Morrision Planetarium-California Academy of Science) it still read that I need update. I've tried 3x and still same message. Is there something I am doing wrong? Quite frustrating!
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 4.
1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
2. Triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
3. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
4. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
5. Select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
6. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
Close the window. Then select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane. -
Hello,
After a Mac update, flash player (along with silverlight) asked to be installed when I tried to watch video content or play games. I installed flash player and it reports being successful and appears in my applications. However, I cannot watch videos or play games, every time I am asked to install flash player again and again and again. I suspect this has something to do with plugins but I am not sure. I have un-installed the program and reinstalled but it still will not work. I check my security settings and it does allow plugins. I erased my temporary internet files. I don't know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated! This is incredibly frustrating. Thank youThank you for responding! I am using a macbook pro 2011, 2.2ghz, intel
core i7, 16gb - version 10.9.5. I have not intentionally installed any ad
blocking software; intact I am inundated with it most times. My online
school work required that I disable pop up blockers and all was well until
an update a few weeks ago for both security and operating system. To the
best of my knowledge I am allowing pop ups and plugins but this may be
where the trouble is. I am unsure, honestly of what security is running
besides what I find in the system preference/security tab. Thank you again
for responding and any help is most appreciated.
