Possible Fraud/Scam E-mail?

I have not idea if this is legit or not. Here is what happened.
The e-mail below was received by me. I have edited the e-mail's link for obvious reasons.
When going to the link it states that it checks for I-Tunes being installed. Then says it was not found and gives me two buttons to choose. One says I have I-Tunes and the other says Download I-Tunes.
Since I have I-Tunes, I chose I have I-Tunes button. At that point, a warning box comes up about installing something. I immediately chose to cancel that.
It seems odd it would be sent out in this matter so I am trying to find some sort of Fraud protection for I-Tunes/Apple so that it can be confirmed.
Here is the e-mail I received.
Dear Derek,
You were incorrectly charged a second time for a recent purchase on the iTunes Store. We have reversed the incorrect charge and you should see the credit within 3-5 days, depending on how quickly your credit card processes the reversal.
Our customers are very important to us and we'd like to apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.
Please accept a song from the iTunes Store as part of our apology. You can redeem your code by clicking the link below.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our customer service team by replying to this email.
**EDIT** Well I took the code part and put that into the redeem section of I-Tunes. It did in fact work and credited me one song. So I'm thinking the e-mail was just a cautious thing by me. Doesn't Apple know that us Windows users are a little paranoid

Derek, as you found, the email was legitimate. This knowledge base document can give you information that can help distinguish the fraudulent emails:

  • No Longer Possible to Access iCloud Mail on Third Party Mac

Something has changed recently. It is no longer possible to access iCloud mail on a third party mac via web browser
This afternoon, I tried to do so on my daughter's iMac - and the system wanted me to set up iCloud rather than letting me access Mail (or any other iCloud services for that matter) instead. Tried different browsers, change of login account on the computer. All to no avail. Have to set up iCloud on the computer. Which means either logging my daughter out, or creating a whole new identity for the purpose. This entirely defeats the notion of the simple webmail interface - and indeed makes Pages, Calendar, etc inaccessible unless on your own computer, or one that you have used to set up an iCloud account. Not something that you want to do in an internet cafe or an airport lounge.
Two sets of Chat Support sessions later, with the problem being hinted to be probably due to "my daughter's computer (!!???)", no satisfaction
I am now in the airport, trying to still access my iCloud mail through a web browser. Same nonsense about setting up iCloud before I can access my iCloud mail via the web through a browser.
Apple, this was one of the advantages of iCloud that I, as a regular traveller, have found useful in the past. Today I have wasted well over an hour on something that is clearly an error in the logic of how people will be using iCloud - possibly a "feature" of Mavericks?
Please bring back simple and straightforward access to iCloud mail via web browser, so that I can once again access my mail from any third party computer.
    Thanks
    Nic

Excellent, well done. I have to say that talktalk were useless, they repeatedly sent me instructions for setting up an emil account and did not seem able to understand that it was the login that would not work. Thank you.

    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I've never been able to figure out how to do those things in Firefox.

When you use OWA in something other than IE, you're using OWA lite and no--it is not possible to do either in OWA lite (well, new Exchange stuff makes my answer a little less emphatic but still: pretty much no). Thanks Microsoft. But this guy made it possible to mark unread/read and select all/none:

  • Is it possible to have 2 mail programmes on my macbook pro? one for business related emails and one personal. I dont want all the emails in one mail programme!

Is it possible to have 2 mail programmes on my macbook pro? one for business related emails and one personal. I dont want all the emails in one mail programme. At the moment i have 2 personal email address being sent to my mail but because of receiving huge numbers of work emails it would be good to keep them seperate, what is the best way of doing this?

if i use the one mail programme can it separate the incoming mail from the different email accounts into 2 folders without me having to do it manually?
Yes, you can.  Nearly all email software can do this.  It involves creating two folders and a Rule for each folder.
Maybe call one folder Personal Mail, the other Work Mail (Apple Mail calls folders Mailboxes).  One Rule would route all mail from your personal email account into the Personal Mail folder; the other Rule would route all mail from your work email account into the Work Mail folder.  It's actually easy to do, all you have to do is click a few things and the rule is set up.  Once the Rule is written you can also apply it to existing messages already downloaded to your Mac.
In Apple Mail, Rules are under Preferences > Rules.  Follow the prompts to create a rule like this:
    If = Any
Account = my Personal account (select the name of your personal email account)
Perform the following actions: Move Message to Mailbox = my Personal Mail (select the name of your Personal Mail folder (aka mailbox))
This rule says,  "take any message that comes in from my Personal Account and move it to my Personal Mail mailbox (folder)"
Create a similar rule for your Work email.

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that use CMAK to configure split tunneling on VPN clients, traffic to specified devices can be routed via their own default gateway.
If the manually added route entries all have default metric and interface, clients will select one by the default routing rule, can’t select one of them according to clients’ own conditions. So, I am afraid that CMAK can’t implement the function which you need.
A blog described about How to configure split tunneling on VPN clients using CMAK, for your reference:

  • Is it possible to sync my mail folders/boxes between Mac mail and iPhone?

Is it possible to sync my mail folders/boxes between Mac mail and iPhone? ie. I get an email on my iphone but I also read it and store it On My Mac folders.  Is there a way this can be set up 'same' on my iphone...then I would only need to read my mail one place? Same as my iPad...I'm tired of doing the same step 3 times ONLY because my folders are only on my MAC

IMAP is a mail protocol. Your email provider must support it (most regular ISPs do not). If your mail provider supports IMAP then when you create an account on the iPhone choose "IMAP" when prompted. You cannot convert a POP3 account to IMAP; you must delete it and re-create it. But first check to see if your provider supports it. Microsoft Exchange works similarly to IMAP, but has the added feature of "pushing" mail to your phone within seconds of it being received.
With IMAP and Exchange the master copy of all mail remains on the server until deleted. Your computer(s) and iPhone sync with the server, so all of your devices will show the same messages. When you delete from one the message will be removed from all with the next sync (or immediately for Exchange).

  • Possible phone scam

I had an interesting call earlier. Was supposedly from Verizon, something about system upgrades. The woman said I would get a text message, which I did, then to verify for her the number that was in the text. I noticed after giver her the number that the text was a temporary password. Shen then asked for my PIN, which is where I hung up. I then logged into verizon.com and changed my password. So far no problems. Where do I report a possible scam?

You can forward the text received to 7726 (SPAM) As far as reporting the phone number, see if this article helps: Fraud FAQs | Verizon Wireless

  • Please make it possible to print e-mail which are forwarded from gmail (google - apps domain).

With my HP LaserJet Pro P1102w setup to use e-print which works very good.
Now I want to automatic print the e-mails when received on my (order) google apps email address.
So I setup a forwarding rule in Google Apps - gmail to the printers e-print email address.
No I got a error in ePrint Center, to many recipients.
Can you please make it possible to allow more recipients with a settings or that it is possible to forward-and-print from a gmail e-mail?
Than you have a very good e-print service!
    Thanks,

Ok, I made a fresh provider hosted application to test out Dragan's suggested solution.
You can view the repository here:
    https://github.com/mattmazzola/providerhosted_01
After comparing this new application and the old one, I realized I had a misunderstanding of how the SP.RequestExecutor expected urls to be constructed. I thought it was required to use the SP.AppContextSite() endpoint.
I was incorrectly constructing a request to the appWeb with a url similar to the following:
    https://contoso-6f921c6addc19f.sharepoint.com/ProviderHostedApp/_api/SP.AppContextSite(@target)/contextinfo?@target=%27https%3A%2F%2Fcontoso-6f921c6addc19f.sharepoint.com%2FProviderHostedApp%27
As you can see, the @target was set to the appWeb url but infact when making request to the appWeb using RequestExecutor you do no need to do this.  It is simply appweburl + "/_api/contextinfo".  It is only when making requests for
resources existing on the hostWeb that you need use the AppContextSite and set the @target.
I think the link to the solution I provided is more helpful, but I marked Dragan's reply as the answer to give him credit for helping me.

  • Is it possible to delete e-mails from Nokia's mail...

    Hello everyone,
I have an E52 with the latest firmware, and I have a question about using it's built-in mail client. I'm using it with Yahoo mail.
Is it possible to set up the mail client so that when I delete an e-mail message on my phone it doesn't delete that message in my online inbox? Do you understand me, I would like to delete e-mail message headers from my inbox, but only on my phone. Right now, as soon as I delete an e-mail message on my phone, it deletes that  same message in my online inbox as well.
I would like to delete them to free up phone memory.
    Thanks!

    I think I found a solution,
If I delete the e-mails from my phone inbox while the mail client is ofline (I just click Cancel when it asks me for a connection) and then update the mailbox, it looks like it doesn't delete those messages in the online inbox..
I just deleted some 20 e-mails from my phone (while in ofline mode) and then logged on to my yahoo mail on my PC. It said I have 3081 e-mails in my inbox. Then I connected my phone client and refreshed phone mail inbox. Those 20 messages I deleted from my phone are still in my Yahoo mail inbox (still 3081 e-mails there).

  • Is it possible to clear all mail settings and start again?

I have no idea how but I have SMTP settings and Pop settings in my server list in Mail that are long gone, years ago, and I think they are causing issues with other email settings, is it possible to clear all settings and start from scratch? (without losing any mail)
    Thanks

You can't just edit them from Accounts>Preferences? Other than that, first quit Mail and make a backup copy of your entire Mail folder in your user Library/Mail. Move it out to the Desktop by holding the Option key down while dragging, for safekeeping.
Then, with Mail still quit, navigate to the user Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist and move that file out to the Desktop for safekeeping, in case you want it back. You want to remove that file completely from its original locaton. For this, don't use Option-drag.
Now open Mail and you will get a new setup routine. I've gone as far as being presented with the new Mail setup, then decided not to follow through by putting the original preference file back, so I don't know if your old emails will automatically be present. But, if not, you will have the backup Mail folder from which to restore them.

  • Fraud/Scam

I recently got a skype message from "Mr Husam Al Sayed" telling me the following:
    Hello From: Husam Al Sayed.
    E-Mail: [Removed]
    & nbsp;
    Hello Tempesta,
I have tried to reach you on Skype phone, but your line was busy, so I decided to write you this message. I have been in search of someone with this last name "Tempesta", so when I saw you online, I was pushed to contact you and see how best we can assist each other. I am Mr. Husam Al Sayed, a Bank Officer here in U.A.E. I believe it is the wish of God for me to come across you now. I am having an important business discussion I wish to share with you which I believe will interest you, because it is in connection with your last name and you are going to benefit from it.
One Late Johnson Tempesta, a citizen of your country had a fixed deposit with my bank in 2005 for 108 calendar months, valued at US$30,000,000.00 (Thirty Million United State Dollars) the due date for this deposit contract was last 22nd of January 2013. Sadly Johnson was among the death victims in the May 27 2006 Earthquake disaster in Java, Indonesia that killed over 5,000 people. He was in Indonesia on a business trip and that was how he met his end. our bank management is yet to know about his death, I knew about it because he was my friend and I am his account officer. Johnson did not mention any Next of Kin/ Heir when the account was opened, and he was not married and no children. Last week our Bank Management requested that Johnson should give instructions on what to do about his funds, if to renew the contract. I know this will happen and that is why I have been looking for a means to handle the situation, because if our Bank Directors happens to know that Johnson is dead and do not have any Heir, they will take the funds for their personal use, so I don't want such to happen. That was why when I saw your last name I was happy and I am now seeking your co-operation to present you as Next of Kin/ Heir to the account, since you have the same last name with him and my bank head quarters will release the account to you. There is no risk involved; the transaction will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any breach of law. It is better that we claim the money, than allowing the Bank Directors to take it, they are rich already. I am not a greedy person, so I am suggesting we share the funds equal, 50/50% to both parties, my share will assist me to start my own company which has been my dream. Let me know your mind on this and please do treat this information as TOP SECRET. We shall go over the details once I receive your urgent response strictly through my personal email address, [email protected]
We can as well discuss this on phone; let me know when you will be available to speak with me on Skype. Have a nice day and God bless. Anticipating your communication.
    Mr. Husam Al Sayed.
This a 100% scam, just putting it out there, his skype name is mr.charles.nonyelu

Hi, I just want to know if something is done about this scammer that have been in the loops for years it seems...I received this message today (29-07-2015) at 09:07am... Dear Labuschagne,Am a banker working with Emirates National Bank Dubai here in U.A.E (United Arab Emirates ) I write to contact you over a very important business transaction which will be of our interest and benefit to our both families.
In 2006,one Mr.Shafi Labuschagne, whose surname is same as yours and has your country in his file as his place of origin, made a fixed deposit for 36 months, valued at $14,500,000.00 with my bank. I was his account officer before I rose to the position of branch Accountant. The maturity date for this deposit is 16th of September 2009.Sadly Mr.Shafi was among the death victims in the May 12 2008 earthquake in China that left over 1,200 people dead while he was there on business trip.
Since the last quarter of 2009 until today, the management of my bank has been finding means to reach him so as ascertain if he will roll over the Deposit or have the contract sum withdrawn. When I discovered that this will happen, I have tried to think up a procedure to preserve this fund and use the proceeds for business.
Some directors here have been trying to find out from me the information about this account and the owner, but I have kept it closed because, I know that if they become aware that Mr.Shafi is late, they will corner the funds for themselves. Therefore, am seeking your co-operation to present you as the one to benefit from his fund at his death since you have the same name, so that my bank headquarters will pay the funds to you. I have done enough inside bank arrangement and you only have to put in your details into the information network in the bank computers and reflect you as his next of kin.
If you concur with this proposal, I intend for you to retain 50% of the funds while 50% shall be for me. Kindly forward your response to me.Mr.Husam Sayed
