Possible have a jump to menu at chapter marker?

I'm not sure how to set this up.
Got a hr long show for teachers, w/34 chapters. Want to have a play all/thru capibility as well as the
individual chapters. After a chapter play, and before the next, would return to the chapter menu.
Is that possible without putting each chapter on a track so's can end jump back to the menu?

You need to make use of Stories to do what it is you want to do. Define Stories for each of your Chapter Markers. Have them return to the chapter menu on end play.

Please help me. I have been going insane trying to work this out.
Here is the story. I have imported a project into dvdsp. It runs for 1hour and 45 minutes. Its of a guy playing basketball in the states. I have created four chapters which link to each of the games throughout the dvd. What I want to do though is have other links to special highlights and then at the end of the segment have it return to the menu. I have tried creating a seperate chapter for this but when it gets to the end of the special highlites it continues on to the next game. I dont want it to do this. I want it to link back to the main menu. Do I need to create these seperately in final cut pro and import it as a seperate track into dvdsp? As I mentioned, I have only one track imported with the main chapter markings olong the timeline. Am I being really stupid by missing something so easy or what. Thankyou in advance. Matty

Say I have marked on my basketball games video, chapters 1,2,3 and 4. these 4 chapters are linked to the different games. If I then want to link a highlite section - say of a guy shooting cool hoops- would I then have to go to the start point of this section in the video and make a chapter mark where it starts and another chapter mark where it finishes? These 2 new chapter marks would be numbered 5 and 6 because I already have chapters 1-4 for the games. Does it matter that chapters 5 and 6 may fall between chapters 2 and 3 on the video track. To me , it just seems strange that you have to set another chapter mark for the end point. I hope this makes sense Drew. If you could get back to me or even email me. [email protected] . Menu button to jump to previous/next chapter

I have a Track with about 5 chapter markers.
I want to use on-screen buttons to jump to next/previous marker.
SPRM 7 stores the current chapter marker. How do I create a script that
a) adds 1 to SPRM 7 and jump to that chapter
b) subtracts 1 to SPRM 7 and jump to that chapter

If you have a track with BOV. On screen is a left arrow and a right arrow for the buttons. If that is the case you can do as already said. Set the button commands for each arrow in each chatper.
So in chapter 1 you'll only have the right arrow (button). Targeting Chapter 2. In chapter 2 you'll have L & R arrows(buttons). L targeting Chapter 1 and R chapter 3.
You may want to use a 3rd button (which should infact be Button 1) for the middle of the two arrows so an arrow isn't selected by default...

DVDSP - End Jump to Menu 1 and Chapters Markers from Final Cut Pro 5.0.4

I went to the Final Cut Forum and they sent me here:

I got to the point where I set the end jump back to Menu 1 for each of the two films listed with buttons on Menu 1 of my DVD.
One film has no chapter markers and the other has 4 chapters that I set up in Final Cut Pro, edited as Chapters and Saved for DVD Studio Pro when exporting the Quick Time. This functionality is great and very nice. At the end one does return to the (main menu) from both short films.
What I found, as stated in the manual, was the first chapter marker is automatically put in by DVD Studio Pro. On the film with 4 chapters by depressing the button on the remote one can skip ahead. When on reaches the 4th chapter one does not have a 5th marker for the end and one has to watch the 4th chapter to reach the end and then go back to the main menu. What I was trying to put in was a 5th chapter marker, or a marker at the end of each film where if one wanted to go back to the Main Menu before the film time had elapsed, one could hit the chapter ahead button and reach the end of the film, and be returned to the Main Menu.
When I put in end markers in DVD Studio Pro, the build stops stating there is a GOP boundry problem. After reading the manual I went back to end chapter markers in Final Cut, but these do not come through. I tried more than one second from the end of the movie but this does not seem to be the answer.

Yes, the end marker is the solution, and it does need to be a certain distance from the end of the media. If placing markers in FCP, I put it 1:03 from the end. If you need to you can extend the FCP sequence, or even the track in DVDSP with a little black. In DVDSP, if I don't have an embedded end marker in my asset, I use the little "clicker" arrows next to the time fields in the marker inspector to move the marker two GOPs or "clicks" from the very end of the asset or track.

Quicktime to .flv with chapter marks - possible?

I want to export from FCP via quicktime conversion then convert the QT files to .flv files using flash encoder but i want to keep my QT chapter marks within the .flv file so that the viewer can jump to each chapter - is this possible?

The markers actually show up when I playback on Quicktime X. I tried Make Movie again from Premiere to a Quicktime movie with DV25 codec (HUGE file size since it's not H.264), and the markers actually work right. What gives?

Is it possible to export a DVDSP menu as .PSD Photoshop file?

I promise this will be the last question for tonight. Is it possible to export a DVDSP menu as .PSD Photoshop file with its layers intact? I'd like to examine the structure to see if there's an easy way to re-create all my EncoreDVD menus as DVDSP menus.

Without opening DVDSP, I can't say for sure, but is there an option to export the menu as Movie to Image Sequence? Is there an option to export the menu at all? Sorry for asking a question to answer a question, but I don't have my scratch disk with me and don't want to open DVDSP without having my current project with me. However, the image sequence wouldn't give you layers. Simply put, I don't think so. Apple's apps have played well when it comes to importing .psd files, but as far as creating them, not so well. As far as recreating Encore Menus, is there an XML type file that's compatible with both Encore and DVDSP where you could just reconnect your media assets in DVDSP and then import this XML file?

I have lost safari browsing, reinstalled it, added update combo for lion and safari, now I don't have even have a drop down menu under my apppleon the top tool, sometimes no responses to anything....stange garbled messages....reset safari many times...

What you're describing makes no sense; it's a jumble of thoughts and supposed actions, but no concrete information to tell us anything.
If you downloaded Lion, that would not cause what you describe. If you had Snow Leopard running when you downloaded Lion, that also wouldn't cause what you describe. So you had to ahve done something to end up in this state. You say you reinstalled 105.1, but there is no such thing; more likely you mean Mac OS X 10.5, in which case you've answered your own questionn about having Snow Leopard installed anymore.
But if you did that, the question is why? Unless there was something catastrophic wrong with Snow Leopard, there would be no reason to reinstall Leopard. You also describe browsing with Yahoo, but that's not possible because Yahoo is not a browser. The Dock also does not just go "missing".
You're going to need to reinstall Leopard using the Archive & Install option, and then install Snow Leopard to get back to a usable state. If you have a backup from prior to when all these problems began, that's good. If not, then you will have to take your chances on losing all your data if this doesn't work.
Startup from your Leopard disc (if your system came with Leopard), choose your language, and then start the install process. Be sure to choose Archive & Install and Preseve Users and Network Settings before you start the installation. When it's done, let it restart and then check to be sure everything is in working order. If it is, put the Previous Systems folder in the Trash and empty it.
Then download the 10.5.8 Combo Update from the Apple web site and apply it. Restart and check to be sure everything is working.
Post back when you've done that.

Can you have more than 1 menu bar on a page?

I would like to create some pages that have a primary Spry
menu bar for the public area of our site, but also a secondary spry
menu bar that is only visible in our Members Only area. Both would
need to be visible and operational when members are on our Members
Only pages. I would like the styling of the two menu bars to be
slightly different as well.
Is this possible using the Spry widgets in CS3? I haven't
tried it yet, but don't want to waste a bunch of time if it's not
possible.

I haven't used a menu bar yet, but for other widgets, they
are given an ID. When you add a second widget it gives that one a
different uniaue ID. Therefore, you can have as many as you want.
Your problem witll be in the styling. I made a page with 2
tabbed panels. The first was panel1 by default the second was
panel2. I did a save as of the panel1.css file to panel2.css. In
the panel2.css I added the number 2 behind each css rule. I also
added a 2 behind each class and ID name in the panel2 code on the
page.
Now you will have independent styles for each and you can
make each as different as you wish.

Putting multiple chapter-marked movies under one IDVD menu

I am currently making various instructional videos for a company and I want to fit 4 separate imovies that are chapter-marked under 1 idvd menu so I can fit this in 1 Dual layer DVD . Any answer can help. Thanks

Jon, I was trying to solve it and I finally found it.
The document you've seen it was one I was trying to edit and it had the <select> tags separated by code and info and that's the reason Dreamweaver didn't give me the option to create a jump up menu.
For that reason you'll have to call a very new select tag: <select></select>, then highlight it and you'll be able to create a jump up menu.

The start chapter button is a play the whole movie button regardless of how many other markers you have.
Once a DVD starts playing it continues to the end.
Chapters marker simply gives the viewer a place to start playback whether it be the start, middle or near the end.

How do I make the top menu a CHAPTER menu?

Hi everyone - thanks in advance for any assistance.
My DVD consists of 5 short scenes. Because this is a "portfolio" DVD, the scenes are not meant to be viewed sequentially. So when someone pops the DVD in, the first (and only) menu I want them to see is a Chapter selection menu.
In iMovie, I put Chapter marks in front of each scene, which iDVD is recongizing nicely. So the content is working right - I just want to avoid that opening screen.
I thought I'd be able to go into the Map and delete the "Play Movie / Scene Selection" screen, but the program won't let me. Can anyone suggest how I can do this? Thanks!
BTW, I'm currently using the Shelves theme.

Right now all 5 clips are in one iMovie project. But I can't access them anymore because when I put them in the Timeline, they disappear from the clips window. (I guess Apple thinks I'd never want to use the same shot twice?) I've found that I can drag the clip from the Timeline back into the Clips window, but then it's gone from the Timeline. So clips can't exist in both places? Wierd.
If you Option-Drag the clips from the clips pane to the timeline, a copy of the clip will remain on the clips pane.
You can get all five clips as separate movies by doing 'copy' and 'paste' of each clip (one at a time) into five different iMovie projects.
But when I Share to iDvd, it doesn't add the new movie to the existing iDvd project - instead it seems to create a new project each time.
Don't use the 'Share to iDVD' command from within iMovie. It will not do what you want this time, and even in the future don't use it because it causes double rendering of the movie clips.
Close each iMovie. Then open your iDVD project and import each clip's movie by dragging and dropping them into the main iDVD screen. The movies will be under 'media'->movies.

but, no, you can not offer the functionality of a videoDVD by simply uploading the files.
consider any web-site generator (software, on-line/template based) to create a website with 'links' to the indiviual videos. with some craftmanship you could 'emulate' the look&feel of your DVD …-
btw: users of web-sites usually expect a diff. 'format' for video than mp2s of a videoDVD.
