Possible internet routing issues driving me crazy!

I've somehow hit a problem accessing a particular favourite website and it seems I may have a routing issue.
I've spoken with a friend who is fairly network savvy and he's suggested I raise a case \ complaint with BT. I thought I'd use this forum to test if I'm missing something I could be doing to fix it before logging a problem with BT Helpdesk!
I've a BT Homehub 2 (Current firmware    4.7.5.1.83.3.5 (Type B) and I can access pretty much all websites I care to look at without any issue at all, however the site I read most days is now no longer viewable on any of my 2 PC's nor my iPhone. When I try to access it I  get no error messages at all just a blank white page.
Doesn't matter if I try using IE or Firefox or Chrome browers it's the same result - I just see a blank white page.
The site in question www.celticquicknews.co.uk (or www.celticquicknews.com) and is definitely available, as I can access it when using a site such as http://www.free-internet-organization.tk/ on both my PC's and iphone so I know the web site is up and running and available for browsing but since Thursday lunchtime I've had no joy in being to access that particular site directly wihout resorting to using another middleman site to let me view it.
I have tweeted the guy who hosts the www.celticquicknews.co.uk site and he's said his site is fine but has numerous similar queries around BTINTERNET folks having the same issue as I'm reporting.
I run McAfee Internet Security and having disabled the various firewall \secure browsing functions no improvement still no joy.
I did successfully somehow connect directy to the illusive web site this morning (Sunday 1st May) on my iphone at around 10am, but by the time I boiled the kettle to have a coffeee and sit and read the site it became inaccessable again on my iphone and both my PC's! So what's going on?

I've reset my HH several times over the weekend and am baffled as to how I can somehow have 1 site excluded from my browsing options for no obvious reason other than a suspected internet routing issue.
My iPhone is on ORANGE and when disabling the wireless connection it too is unable to view the site in question so it's a real pain!
Not sure where to go to progress this so any help \ guidance is very much appreciated.......

Appreciate the help....been out for most of the day and checked in to see if any additional posts.
I tried pinging the site and it does seem to resolve OK and also tried accessing site via IP but same issue - blank white page.

Then tried the telnet command "telnet 217.174.253.143 80" and I do not get any errors and as suggested the command prompt goes blank but no matter what I type I get no errors or response from server 217.174.253.143.
My IP address has changed from this morning and sadly still same issue for me.

The tracert comments make sense so that's helped me understand, thanks for checking that out.
So what's the best option for me? Am I wasting BT and my own time logging a case?
I'd not usually bother pursuing this for the sake of a single web site but I'm bemused how this has happened since last week?

  • Curve issues driving me crazy!!

    Ok, so I bought my BB Curve in January, and at first I loved it!
    A few days ago though it began going crazy.  Everytime I try to open something I get that annoying clock thing, and then once I finally get the program open, it stays.  This happens during phone calls (so it is rediculous trying to answer and end calls)  writing texts and email - anything.
    Then I added in the battery issue - my phone will die within 6 hours, even if I am not doing anything different.
    And now...the last few nights the screen has gone white with a weird meesage on it (something like APP ERROR I think...)
    I got a new SIM card, and that fixed it for about 6 hours. 
    This is driving me crazy!  i take my battery out so many times during the day it is almost not worth having a phone!
    Please please please help!

    I have the Curve 8130 - my carrier is ATT & for about the last mth it has been sluggish. The hourglass keeps popping up like something is running in the background. I have not loaded any new apps recently & it does starighten out after I pop the battery, but that's getting old pretty quick. Fortunately, I'm not having battery issues - but it is a nuisance to keep fighting with that **bleep** hourglass. Anybody else out there having the same issues or are we just the lucky ones???
    Looks like 2 different carriers here, so I don't think it's an ATT thing. Is Blackberry doing something or upgrading something that maybe we're not aware of? I never had an issue with my Curve before - but this last month has been really aggravating. I'm sure we can't be the only 2 people having these issues. Help!!!

  • Internet/Router issues and new "secure email"

    I'm supposed to have a 35MPS internet plan. When I switched to the higher speed plan, I paid for the Verizon router and installation.  I have both a Mac and Windows 7 Laptops as well as an older netbook.  To say that the wireless connectivity sucks would be complimentary.  I've used the automatic troubleshooter....I've looked through forums and followed advice on settings etc...with no joy.  Before I "upgraded" I had my own belkin n router.  Even though the router is downstairs in an office , with the belkin, I could connect on my back deck and all but the furthest upstairs rooms in the house.  Since I "upgraded"  the wireless won't stay connected with line of sight 8 feet from the router so we have cables trailing thru the living room.  For the brief moments when wireless is connected it is slower than dial-up.  The cabled connection seldom exceeds 10MBPS ( this is where they tell me the plan is "up to" 35MBPS")
    We have a mountain home with DSL and a VERY basic wireless router.  Both the Mac and PC connect effortlessly and even my very untechsavvy wife mentioned how much faster the 3MPBS DSL service is than FIOS.  Her next question "Tell me again why are we paying so much for FIOS?"
     The latest debacle (forget that companies choose to not learn from others mistakes, think Netflix here) is the new secure email settings. I updated my Mac and my android in strict compliance with the Verizon directions and for a few minutes all was well.  Today I can't connect through my android.  An "authentication error receiving" message show up with a note to check my settings only I HAVEN"T CHANGED MY FLIPPING SETTINGS!  Now I have to go in and re-enter my account password several times a day to get into my email account when the PW is stored in my phone!  I consantly have to rest the Mac as well. (Hmmm no yahoo, gmail  issues and they are free....)
     To be fair I haven't called in the issue with the wireless connectivity because I have called before on other issues and frankly I don't have the time to wait on hold.  The last time I had a "technical problem" with my service I ended up telling the tier 2 tech how to fix the problem. 
     As a Quality Assurance /Customer Service professional,  the one thing I can tell Verizon is that there is no marketing campaign that will overcome word of mouth reports on poor service and response.  I installed FIOS years ago when it was first available in my neighborhood.   Service was reliable, customer service responsive and capable.  That all seems to have gone by the wayside to improve the bottom line.  Volume can go a long way to masking attrition for quite a while, but it isn't sustainable.  The cable companies in my area have an even worse reputation which is the only reason I've not yet left...and that's a really crappy reason to stay.
    I understand that it's the processes and the system which are hosed up.  The poor CS reps are customer facing and they take it on the chin for every corporate decision viewed as stupid by customers. There may be a few really bad customer service reps, but the majority of  CS reps DON’T come to work to see how many customers they can **bleep** off.   CS Reps are only as good as the process under which they must work.  When working with organizations and speaking with CS reps one question I always ask is "How long would you put up with what you put out if you were dealing with another company?"  Then I suggest that the leaders/managers attempt to call in with a problem using only the same avenues available to paying customers.  
    Companies should also must realize that the "cancellation fee" they threaten people with is usually about a month and a half worth of service.  After that it's money back in the consumers pocket, or more likely into competitions pocket and not in Verizon’s pocket.  It’s the principle of the fee that keeps customers hanging on.
    Now that I’ve vented if anyone can tell me a better router to use than the one Verizon gave me, I’m all ears.  I really don’t care about remote accessing my DVR.

    Since you already have the Belkin and know that it works well, I would suggest hooking that up to the Verizon-supplied router and using that. Turn off the wireless from the Verizon router.

  • Gradient issue driving me crazy

    Hi Everyone,
    I am having a huge issue with Photoshop CS5.5. The gradients and colors are acting crazy. When I bring in a image with a gradient it gets black spots all in the dark areas. Even when I use the default gradient selection this is what happens. When I bring in a picture that should have a white background it turns to black. Now apparently, when I save it out as a JPEG saves correctly without the black line or messed up gradients. So it seems to only be an issue when I am working in Photoshop, the gradients appear messed up. Any idea of what is wrong with my display?

    Looks like a known problem with some AMD/ATI video drivers where pixels with red==0 are displayed as black in Photoshop. If so, a solution is to use Catalyst 13.2 beta 7 or Catalyst 12.8.

  • Help--printing issue driving me crazy

    Hi, I am hoping someone can help me.  I have images that I created in Photoshop at 300dpi, that seem to "all of a sudden" be printing on my HP laser priner in "dots", almost looks like what a dot matrix printer used to print.  Yet when I print something from the internet it comes out fine.   Why would something from Photoshop print this bad and from the web it prints ok?     Thanks much for your help!

    Try re booting the handset by removing the battery.
    Also look in the menu to see if he has changed the settings.
    If all else fails action a factory reset backing up naything you want to keep.

  • LabelStudio 7.09.02 Font issue driving me crazy

    I don't know what to do.  My tray/pallet tags are not formatting the barcodes correctly.  This note at the end of the release notes is not helping me, "If you are using the PCL driver, note that PCL fonts included with Label Studio have been updated. If you generated any PCL fonts based on the Label Studio PCL fonts, regenerate them again after installing 7.90c.02.00." 
    From what I can tell regarding my font installations, they were purchased from ID Automation.  I don't know what I need to replace what I have.  I don't know where to start looking.  Your assistance would be appreciated.

    Hopefully I can clear up some of the confusion on how the fonts and barcodes in Label Studio work.
    In general, the barcodes within Label Studio are just fonts but instead of requiring the user to select the font and then tweak the various font properties to get the output correct we encapsulate it within a barcode object that can be dropped on the label.  That way we can also ensure that the barcode is printing out at the proper dimensions to obtain a valid barcode.
    Each barcode is set to point to a specific font and that is something that is set within the code and a user is unable to change.  With the 7.90c.01.00 release the program was set to use the barcode fonts that begin with "IDAutomation".  Because of issues with those fonts 7.90c.02.00 changed to use the fonts that begin with "SAP" so 7.90c.02.00 will not reference any of the u201CIDAutomationu201D fonts.
    When using a Windows printer driver the program uses the fonts installed within the Windows/Fonts folder.  If using PCL it doesnu2019t use those fonts and instead uses the special PCL fonts which are a binary representation of a specific font and font attributes (size, bold/italic/underline, DPI).  The PCL name can be decoded to tell you what each specific file contains.  For example you mention u201CSAPI25L-170-1-300-PCL.fntu201D.  The first part tells the font name which is u201CSAP125Lu201D.  The second part of the name is the font size with 170 equating to a 17 point font.  The third position is whether the font is bold/italic/underlined with a value of 1 being regular (all barcodes will be a 1).  The fourth position tells the DPI which in this case is 300 DPI (the only other option is 600 DPI).  The last part is the type of data stream which for now will always be PCL.  The PCL fonts are generated from the Windows fonts (from within Label Studio by selecting the menu option u201CTools > Create Data Stream Fontsu2026u201D but by default we install all PCL fonts needed to use the default PCL designs that we ship.
    From your posting I didnu2019t get where the u201CSAPu201D fonts are showing up.  Are they showing up under the Windows/Fonts directory?  Are they showing up within the Label Studio PCL font directory?  Do they show up within the font drop down within Label Toolbox?
    Is this a problem when previewing, printing, or both?

  • Apple TV Syncing Issues Driving Me Crazy!

    Hi All :o)
    I've had my ATV from launch and it has hardly had any problems at all but since the latest software update and the latest Time Capsule update i have had nothing but trouble at least two to three times a week my ATV forgets all and has to re-sync everything its now to the stage where i cant be bothered to use it?
    My question is has anyone with this set up found this issue? and does anyone know if apple is AWARE of this issue?

    Hello, I have had both the ATV and Time Capsule running and done all the updates whenever they came out and have never had that happen, except when I accidentally unchecked 'all' in iTunes and it had to re-synch, but that was me clicking things I wasn't aware of. So sorry, can't help, it works for me.

  • Wireless internet keeps dropping, its driving me crazy

    Ok here is the story many might have heard before. My macbook pro will randomly drop the internet connection. it will still show full bars of service but wont go anywhere. I use the latest version of firefox and the issue pops up with safari also. It happens at home and anywhere i use the internet. I was at a coffee shop and it drops randomly, at my dads house so the same thing. Now if I use my pc in any of these places the internet is flawless never drops. I want to retire my pc but am forced to use it since I can't get the internet to work properly. I have sent out the macbook pro under applecare and they said they found the problem and replaced the airport on it. I got it home worked great for awhile and now the problem is back at its regular frequency. It's driving me crazy as I even have an old macbook in the house and it works great. Does anyone have a solution as I'm ripping my hair out and I don't wanna have to send my macbook pro out again. Please help!

    Your personal details show that you are using 10.2.x - is this correct, if not then update your personal details? If you are using 10.5.x then you can try these simple maintenance procedures:
    Repair Permissions - /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app. Start Disk Utility, select your HD and click on Repair Permissions. When finished, quit Disk Utility and then restart your computer.
    Reset PRAM - hold down Option-Command-P-R keys when starting until you hear the startup chime a 2nd time.
    Safe Mode Startup - hold down the Shift-key at startup until you see the login screen. When logged-in, then go to System Preferences/Network/AirPort
    - click on the 'Network Name:' roll-button, select 'Join Other Network...', enter 'Network Name and select the security type you are using, and finally, enter your Password and click 'Join'.
    - click on 'Advanced', TCP/IP and confirm that 'Configure IPv4:' is set to 'Using DHCP', click 'OK'.
    - click the 'Apply' button and exit System Preferences.
    Also, look in System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items. With a clean system you will see AirPort Base Station Agent and iTunesHelper in here. Other users have found RealPlayer Updater in here and removed it (- sign), and this stopped the network drops after restarting.
    These Login Items are located at ~/Library/LaunchAgents/. If you don't want to lose your login items then move them to the Desktop and archive them. Then delete the originals - restart and see if it helps.

  • Windows 7 has **bleep** terrible internet connectivy issues due to linksys router!!!

    Well, its a really long story that lasts for a total of 6 months, and I solved some of the problems, but more just kept coming.I will tell you the problems I am having now, to shorten up the story. So In late Nov of 2009 I upgraded my toshiba windows vista 64-bit computer to windows 7 64-bit, with 4GB ram. So anyway, this computer is pretty good, fast, and I keep it in good care. However, internet connectivy issues are the only bad thing. From my 6 month experience with these ongoing internet issues, I have concluded that that problems now are: the computer cannot connect to the home network because authication has failed, but I KNOW for a fact the I typed in the secuity password to my network correctly and got all the secuity settings and network name correct!!! Secondly, I am having the ip conflict with another pc on my network, but I dont think this is the cause for preventing me from loading any pages on the internet, since I changed the ip address manuelly of the other pc to something else.
    So right now I really only have that one problem. I figure this is due to miscommucations with my pc and the router. The weird thing is sometimes I am able to do everything on the internet with no problems, but only sometimes. This is what happens, I cannot connect to my network or get disconnected, my internet is very very slow, the pages will load but be blank.
    I am using wireless, and roadrunner, so yes broadband.
    I dont know the soluation really, but I do know that all the other computer and devices on my network(2 wireless pcs, one wired into the router, 2 ipods, a wii, xbox360) all connect great, but my computer is the only one that runs windows 7 and was made by toshiba.
    Other information I need to tell you???

    Thanks for the help guys, but I finally was able to buy a new router. All I know is linksys routers dont work so well, espeically bad with windows 7-
    this is what my experiences would tell me. Anyway the new router works pretty good so far. I haven't been disconnected from the internet yet, so
    that's a good sign.

  • Network Manager driving me crazy (3 issues)

    Hey guys I'm new here, hope you can help me
    nm-applet is driving me crazy!
    First issue: when I boot nm-applet doesn't appear in my tint2 eventhough I'm connected. This don't appear all the time, it's random. I have to kill it and restart it to be able to see it.
    I use openbox and I have this in .config/openbox/autostart
    (sleep 3 && /usr/bin/nm-applet --sm-disable) &
    Second issue:
    I selected the save option for the password of my vpn but it won't save it... Or wait, yes it will.. But not all the time. It asks me for the pass sometimes, and sometimes not
    Third issue:
    I thicked the "automatically connect to vpn for this connection" but guess what... It won't
    Any idea about how to troubleshot this. I'm seriously considering pacman -R network-manager and pacman -S something else

    1st issue: run nm-applet from the command line (take it out of openbox's start file wherever that is) after you log in to see what's going on.
    2nd issue: do you have gnome-keyring installed? I believe it should be started with by networkmanager when it's needed, but you may need to figure out how to start it on your own. I don't know how.
    3rd issue: I believe the automatic connection to vpn on a specific network is triggered by networkmanager-dispatcher which is just part of the networkmanager package, but is its own separate service. When you enable/start NetworkManager via systemctl, it should enable/start 3 services - the dispatcher is one of them. Do you have that running?
    I may be wrong about some of this; it's been a while since i've used NetworkManager.

  • (WRT160N V3 router) Issue connecting to web-based setup page

    I am currently having 2 issues with my router. The first issue is the fact that I can not connect to my router's setup page (192.168.1.1). When I type the ip into my browser I get an error saying unable to connect to it. I have an internet connection and can connect to other websites perfectly fine, so the only issue I have is the setup page.
    The second problem is my wireless connection. Over the past few days, I have started to experience a major ping increase in online games, and a speedtest (and pingtest) showed an issue with my wireless connection. Download speeds are normally 19-20mbps and upload speeds are normally above 6-7mbps. Recently the speeds have become about .39mbps and 2mbps respectively. Unfortunately because I can not connect to my router's setup page I can not modify any configurations that would allow me to possibly pinpoint the issue with the wireless connection.
    tl;dr: Can not connect to my router's setup page in order to modify configuration settings to speed up my wireless connection which has been having issues.
    Edit: Hardwired connections to the router are getting about 28mbps download as they should be. These computers also can not connect to the setup page.

    You'd have to reconfigure your router again.

  • Kernel Panic is driving me crazy!!!

    The kernel panic is driving me crazy!! I did everything I know that could possibly work and fix this issue: I verified Disk and Disk permissions and fixed them. I started in safe mode but still get the panic alert. I even reinstalled the OX LION and nothing seems to work. Thanks in advance

    whenever the landline receives a phone call or dials, the internet goes off! I have to manually connect otherwise it

  • Routing Issue with 3550

    I am having a routing issue with a 3550 switch. I have 5 vlans and I need one of the vlans to access a different router based on destination IP rather than our edge router. I have entered a static route on the 3550 that points to the secondary router whenever a certain network is tried to be accessed. My problem is I can't seem to get the traffic to flow correctly. When I trace route an address on the Internet the path shows as expected, the 3550 then my firewall then my edge router. When I trace an address that is on the other side of the secondary router I get the 3550 as the first hop, then nothing. I can ping the address so I know the path is up. What could be the issue?     in addition to Mahmood´s post, what do you have defined as the next hop for the default route to the secondary router ? If you use an interface on the 3550 as the next hop, make sure that whatever is connected is in the same subnet, otherwise use the IP address of the next hop. So, let´s say your remote network is 192.168.1.0, and the secondary router is connected to FastEthernet0/1, your default route should look like this if the secondary router is in the same subnet (in this example, the IP address of the secondary router would be 172.16.1.2):
    interface FastEthernet0/1
    no switchport
    ip address 172.16.1.1 255.255.255.252
    ip route 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 FastEthernet0/0
    Otherwise, try:
