Possible malware downloaded via email

I just opened an attachment from an email that claimed to be from Amazon on my iPad running iOS 7.0.4 and the iPad mail client.   Then I realized the email was fake.  What is the risk I downloaded malware and what can I do about it?

No.  The iPad is not suceptible tio Malware or Viruses of any kind.
If it did contain a malware it cannot run or alter anything on the iPad.
The best course of action is to delete the offending email.

  • Possible malware with accidental email jpg opened?

Due to some really strange email glitch (a really long story, don't ask how it happened because I have no idea), I got logged into someone's email that wasn't mine but a few of my emails were in the inbox, so I wanted to go through the emails and verify that no personal information was in the inbox before I logged out, and I saw an old email that said "your payment" so I clicked on the email. Inside there was an attachment that I accidentally clicked on (I swear I know not to open random attachments but I was trying to see what this was and literally just got my Mac on Saturday night and am getting used to how everything works). It downloaded and I opened a file called google.jpg, which was very obviously a scam, so I promptly deleted it and emptied it from my trash. Is there any way I could have gotten any kind of malware this way? I'm new to Mac and desperately hoping I didn't get some kind of malware on my 2 day old computer. Help very much appreciated!

Unless you start seeing symptoms, such as unexpected ads in browsers, or other odd behavior, I wouldn't be concerned. As I say, there's no currently known malware which can get installed through opening an image file, certainly not if you didn't see or authorize an installer process.

  • Is it possible to download French email corrector ?

''italic text''Just installed Mozilla Firefox on my PC in English , is it possible to add the French grammar corrector ? Thank you

Firefox doesn't correct grammar. Firefox has a spell checking dictionary that gives an indication if a word is not found. You can install a French dictionary and switch to that dictionary if you need to check words in French.

  • I have just ordered download via email to upgrade from 10.6.8 to Lion.  Will I need my original mac installation disc?

I don't have it anymore unfortunately after it was damaged in storage, so I'm concerned.  It's an iMac I bought in mid 2007.
If someone could set my mind at ease about this I would be very grateful.
    Many thanks

  • Family sharing - is it possible to get the download requests from my kids via email?

    Hi
I've set up the family sharing and it works really well. My kids have to get my permission to download anything.
The problem I have is that I don't always have access to my personal apple device, which is my iPad, but always have access to my work one, which is my iPhone.
As I can't put my personal apple id on my iPhone I was wondering if it was possible to set the requests to come via email?
    Thanks in advance
    Tim

At this point, this only works through Notifications on the Mac and iPad:
Request and make purchases with Ask to Buy - Apple Support
Maybe using the Notification Center on your Mac is a good alternative for using e-mail.

  • Is it possible to get Exchange emails downloaded to SharePoint document library using Powershell and or Custom Workflow?

I have been asked to see if it would be possible to get  exchange emails downloaded and or sent to a document library .
I know of the sitemail box app. but we are not running Exchange 2013.
and setting up the lists and or document library to receive emails using the built in doesn't seem to be working...( maybe not configured correctly, i would need to see what the prior admin/developer did)
But is there a way to get the emails downloaded to a document library using a workflow and or a powershell script that is triggered via  workflow?

    Hi,
Since workflow can only work on items in SharePoint sites, they cannot get Exchange emails, let alone download emails to SharePoint library. However, you could manually save email to local and upload it to SharePoint list/library.
I'd suggest you toubleshooting the incoming email settings in SharePoint. Please refer to the article below and check your configuration:

I have downloaded the latest pages update on my iPad, but my iMac still has Pages version 4.3, and I cannot find out how to update it on my desktop. When I try to send something from my iPad pages via email to be opened on my desktop in Pages, it won't open in Pages. I get a message that it can't be opened because the version is too old. I sent the document as a PDF and it worked. But I want to be able to use Pages back and forth. HOw do I update the Pages version on my desktop iMac?

The file format used by the iOS versions of the iWork apps can only be read by the new iWork apps on your Mac - i.e. Keynote 6, Pages 5 & Numbers 3. Those versions for the Mac require Mavericks, OS X 10.9. The "too old" error on a Mac comes if you are trying to open an iWork '08 or earlier file in the newest apps. If you do have the newest apps you can open the files from your iPad.
If you can't or don't want to upgrade to Mavericks & the newest iWork apps your best option would be to export/share the files from the iPad to a type an older version of iWork can read such as Word, text, Excel, etc.
Or contact AppleCare. They made this mess, let them fix it.

  • Is it possible to download iOS  5 from one iMac and not get them totally wiped of apps and stuff. We have an iPad each and a communal email address and an iCloud address each. One iPad now is totally screwed up.

Is it possible to download iOS  5 from one iMac on two ipads and not get them totally wiped of apps and stuff. We have an iPad each and a communal email address and an iCloud address each. One iPad now is totally screwed up.

    Thank you for your reply.
I am somewhat new to iOS and OS having grown up with DOS and Windows. I am not familiar with IMAP and iCloud and I am not even sure which types of servers my various emails use.
The problem I would anticipate with iCloud is that (I assume) it would limit my access to data (including mail) on the iCloud to when I happen to be logged onto the internet. I also assume(?) that large files (photos etc.) would require some time to download whenever I wish to access them from whichever device I happen to be using (I hope I am wrong about this).
I have kept my devices to 500gb - 1TB for OS and 32gb - 128gb for iOS but since I have pretty slow WiFi (shared with DirecTV Whole Home and Netflix streaming) it is my impression that iCloud might be quite limited due to data transfer times.
Perhaps a factor would be that I have 2 DSL lines and my main DSL line is connected to two wireless routers (to also provide WiFi in a metal building that blocks WiFi and Cellular signals)
I may be totally wrong in my assumptions regarding iCloud. My mail is not so urgent that I need access to it instantly and I could wait until I had internet access or I can get it on my iPhone. My main concern with iCloud would be my data files (Word, Pages, Excel, Numbers etc.).
On the other hand, if I wanted to keep my 10,000 emails that would take up a lot of iCloud memory and I don't know how to measure how much storage it would take or how to move Hotmail or even iCloud mail to iCloud.
It may take me some time to figure this out.

  • Possible to download emails more than once and still display new emails?

    Hi,
I have to download emails to my powerbook when i travel, and I download my emails to my powerbook via POP3 server. My office desktop PC, is connected to the company's email server via exchange server. Evertime after i download my emails to my powerbook, the email server will signalified the downloaded emails are read when i download them again to my desktop PC in my office . This way makes it difficult for me to read new emails in my PC when i got back from work. I just use my powerbook to read my emails to make sure nothing serious has happened. when i got the office, i will read my emails carefully and individually. Is there any ways to download all of my email to my Entourage and still showing NEW emails when i download my emails again in my office PC? I think our company uses exchange server 2000. thanks.

If he is selling the $!29.00 Leopard, and keeping his original discs and $9.99 upgrade, everything is OK. The $129.00 kit will install on another computer (if it meets the Leopard requirements). The $129.00 is licensed for one computer, so technically, he should reinstall Tiger with the discs that came with the computer, then upgrade to Leopard with the $9.99 disc, before selling the $129.00 kit. The resulting software will be the same on his computer, though, so it is just a waste of time (unless he wants to check that the upgrade disc works). If anybody asks, he can say he did it. There's no way to prove he didn't.

  • I purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro XI via email download via the Dell Store yesterday. The product key doesn't work/fit into any of the "Registration" templates I've look through on the Adobe website. Manufacturer Part # 65195473.

I purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro XI via email download code via the Dell Store yesterday. The product key given doesn't work/fit into the boxes on any of the "Register" pages on the Adobe website. Therefore, although I paid for the product and it is downloaded, it is not "installed" and will not work to print documents from emails, etc.

    Hi williamc48321229,
You must have received redemption code via email from the reseller.
Please ensure that you are entering the right code as that would be needed to obtain the serial number for activating the product.
For more details on this, please refer:

    Hope this helps.

  • Share via email option - can more stationery be added or downloaded

I use the share via email option quite frequently. When you get the step where you select the background stationery I'm always frustrated that there aren't more options. Case in point - Christmas background? Halloween background? Can more stationery be added or downloaded or customized? Am I the only one with this problem?

Ok... so I'm an idiot: in Pages it works fine - I mistook the grayed out 'send via email' option for a normally clickable item, while it's just a header for the three (non-grayed-out) formats which you can send via email.
The problem stands for Word for Mac though - I promise!
    thanks again

  • I have downloaded a mp3 how do i share it via email?

I have an mp3 loaded on my iTunes...how do I share this information via email.

Drag the file from iTunes to the Desktop to produce a copy file you can attach. (This won't remove it from iTunes.)Provided that it's not more than 20MB (possibly 15MB) click the paperclip icon in the top bar of the 'New message' pane. If your recipients are running Windows it's worth checking 'Send Windows-Friendly Attachments'.
If the file is larger you won't be able to send it via email and will have to use an online sharing service.
Note that if this is a copyrighted item from the iTunes Store or off a CD then you shouldn't be sharing it. Of course if it's a specifically copyright-free recording it's fine.
