Possible NVIDIA/PCI/OpenGL problem

I've been having trouble with Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and Cinema 4D. I'm not sure if I always had these problems or if they appeared in the last year. Basically, in AfterEffects I can't scrub the video and get it to update, in Final Cut Pro the playhead doesn't update, and in Cinema 4D I can't get images shadows.
I did a lot of research on each of these different problems and found they were related -- it seems like it's an OpenGL issue -- either OpenGL is faulty or turned off somehow. I've tried to turn it on in each of the programs -- to no avail.
Then I thought it was an NVIDIA driver problem, but when I downloaded the driver, NVIDIA gave me an "Unsupported System - This computer will not support this NVIDIA graphics solution." popup. I looked in my Macbook Pro system profiler and saw that the NVIDIA card uses a PCIe bus, but when I clicked on PCI cards it gave me the error message "This computer doesn't contain any PCI cards. If you installed PCI cards, make sure they’re properly installed."
Is this the problem? Are my PCI cards not installed correctly? Is it an NVIDIA card/update issue? Is it an OpenGL issue?
Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

In The " system Administrator " of Win XP, appears this dispositive " Nvidia Pci bus system managment " when acces at propertis of them appears " This dispositive nos hace controllers installed ". Anywhere in the list of dispositives appear as valid. What is the problem? Thanks.

    There is NO problem .
Many devices don't have spesific drivers . Still they need allocated mem/io range and to register in the pci enumeration
and bus system with vendor id class id and div. other registry settings .
Look through device manager , expand all + for all groups , if you have no devices with yellow "question mark" all is okay .

  • Can i install nVidia PCI express graphics card on a ATI X200 motherboard

Is ATI X200 motherboard compatible with nVidia PCI Xpress graphics card(Gforce 6series card)?
    My system configuration
    AMD Athlon 64 3200+
ATI XPRESS 200 RS482M2 Series  Motherboard

It is indeed my friend, I have put an NVidea G-Force 6600 PCI-E in a MSI RS482M-IL Motherboard (using the ATI Chipset) and it works a dream  , not a problem.  The only advantage of using an ATI card is that the catalyst drivers on the CD for the motherboard works with the card!

  • Possible Fix for Printing Problems in Leopard

I got this information from Mac OS X Leopard Edition book by David Pogue. Here's his possible fix for printing problems in Leopard...Open web browser and enter this address http://127.0.0.1:631. You'll find youself at a secret "front end" for CUPS (Common UNIX Printer System), the underlying printing technology for Mac OS X 10.5. This trick lets your Mac communicate with a huge array of older printers that dopn't yet have Mac OS X drivers. Using this administration screen, you can print a test page, stop your printer in its tracks, manage your networked printers and print jobs, and more–a very slick trick. Haven't tried it yet...anyone who does let me know how it worked!

If you literally "checked" them, meaning the checkboxes, that only affects their visibility. To remove them, select one and then click on the "minus" part of the "plus minus" at lower left.

    Hello bettyf25
There could be a few things that could cause that issue. One is to make sure that the router settings are set to the recommended settings. The other is to go through the troubleshooting steps lied out in the articles below. This should give you a good starting point to get the issue resolved.

  • Nvidia 8600M GT PCI-E problem on GX600 notebook.

    Hello,
I've got MSI GX600 notebook with Nvidia 8600M GT video card.
The problem is, that the notebook has a low performance in 3D.
It's caused by that 8600M GT video card, because the GPU-Z shows, that the card runs only in PCI-E 1x mode, but it is in the x16 PCI-E "slot".
I tried everything. Reinstall of OS (Windows 7 64, Windows XP, Windows 7 32), new drivers, old drivers, nvidia drivers, msi drivers, alternate drivers(OMEGA),
flashing of motherboard bios, cleaning the ventilations and heatsink, but the problem is still here. Are there any advices or ideas, how to solve it?
The notebook is 3 years old, so the warranty is gone and i don't want to buy new PC.
    A Lot of thanks, S.Martin.

Um, have you actually compared benchmarks of other 8600m GT cards?
They aren't very good in the first place.
There is nothing to compare, i see a graphic performance slowdown in everything, and detailed list from gpu-z. I've found a problem, now i need the solution.

  • Xorg, Nvidia and Monitor problem

It all started when I saw a strange startup problem (lower resolution than my usual 1366X768) and some startup messages, on my system (Pcc tower plus a Sony Bravia 32' TV, that I use as a monitor. I started this thread https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=105910 but soon realised my problem was elsewhere. Reviewing the xorg log I see that xorg is unable to read EDID from the monitor and falls to auto-selection of resolution resulting to a 1024X768 (further on DPI calculation is also affected). So, has anyone had the same problem or has any idea?
I should mention that I use a VGA cable (there is a possibility that I messed things up when I tried an HDMI cable once or twice, not sure though, maybe the problem was already present, I can't remember), and that when running the nvidia settings manager, I do not get the desired 1366X768 option. The best option is the 1024X768. Needless to say that my TV is widescreen. Ideas please...

Have you tried to extract the EDID info from the TV set manually ?
    Check out: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=13706
Then you could load them via Xorg command,
nvidia proprietary drivers do have problems to get EDID data. nouveau drivers, for instance, is much better for this.
    I had a similar problem with my screen, have a look at : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nv … ly_display

  • [Partly solved] Nouveau driver crashes, nvidia-libgl-beta problem etc.

I had the same issue as in thread 1446984 but disabling USB 3.0 in BIOS did not solve the problem.
I have a new install, and are getting complete freezes on shutdown, but also on switching to another tty than the graphical (freeze after 1-20 seconds after switching tty). This is reproducible 100% of the time.
I were also getting errors about nouveau, and thought the tty switching freezes might be related to that.
This was correct, since installing the nvidia-beta driver solved that problem (but not the shutdown issues).
As a side note, I also had some minor problems installing nvidia-libgl-beta which is a dependency for nvidia-beta.
Trying to install it with aura gave the following error:
    $ sudo aura -A nvidia-libgl-beta
    [sudo] password for rix:
aura >>= The following are not AUR packages:
    nvidia-libgl-beta
aura >>= No valid packages specified.
Installing it manually from the tarball in AUR seemed to work, but when I tried to install nvidia-beta it complained about nvidia-libgl-beta missing, and it's not in the output of pacman -Q !
Trying to reinstall it works as well, and pacman says it is reinstalling with net upgrade size 0.
I removed nvidia-libgl-beta as a dependency from the nvidia-beta PKGBUILD and installed it, it seems to work at least, no more tty switch crashes.
Also, after installing there is no nvidia*.pkg.tar.xz files in /var/cache/pacman/pkg/. Maybe these are put somewhere else?
dmesg (includes nouveau errors but it's the "ACPI Warning: SystemIO range 0x000000000000f040-0x000000000000f05f conflicts with OpRegion ..." line I believe is the interesting one):

  • OpenGL problem Photoshop CS4

I'm using Photoshop CS4 (Extended) on a machine running Windows XP (32 bit) SP/3 (with all the relevant updates from Microsoft).
Everything seemed to work fine for the first week or so, then one day Photoshop crashed with an error message related to OpenGL. I don't recall the exact message now, but it had something to do with the OpenGL features of the video card.
I restarted Photoshop, only to have it crash again with the same message. At that point, I checked the Adobe Web Site and came across the document "GPU and OpenGL Features and Limitations in Photoshop CS4" at the URL http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb404898.
I am currently using an nVidia 8800 GTS video card (512 MB video memory). After reading the document mentioned above at the Adobe Help site, I updated my video driver to the latest available at nVidia (described on the nVidia web site as Version 182.50, though it shows up on my computer's Device Manager as Version 6.14.11.8250, dated 3/27/2009).
Since installing the new driver, the option to "Enable OpenGL Drawing" under <Edit> <Preferences> <Performance> is completely grayed out.
I would really like to enable OpenGL if it's at all possible. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and is there a way to fix it?
    --- D.M.
PS: I did update Photoshop to version 11.0.1, but that made no difference, the OpenGL Drawing option is still grayed out.

    Thanks for the replies.
I reset the preferenced by pressing CTRL-ALT-SHIFT while starting Photoshop. This did not help, as the OpenGL option was still grayed out in preferences.
I then rolled back the video driver until I found one that worked. I had been using the latest WHQL certified driver from nVidia, version 182.50, which was not working with Photoshop. The one that finally worked was an older version: 181.22 (which is reported in Device Manager as Version 6.14.11.8122).
This finally un-grayed the OpenGL option, and I am now using Photoshop CS4 with OpenGL enabled. So far I have no errors, but it has only been half an hour since I did this, so it's too early to tell. I don't know how this driver rollback will affect the games I have on my computer. If there are problems with the games, I may have to go back to the newer driver and use Photoshop without OpenGL again.
I doubt that anyone from Adobe reads this forums, but I would like to say that I think CS4 is a very buggy release in terms of OpenGL. It doesn't help for Adobe to say that they are using "standard" OpenGL functions and it's the video card driver at fault. The vast majority of users will have either an nVidia or ATI based card in their computers, and it's Adobe's job to make sure that their program works with those cards. It's not like they have a thousand different hardware types to support, just two.
Also, while I posted this problem in nVidia's forum (and I am sure other Photoshop users must have done the same), it is completely unrealistic to think that nVidia will change anything based on input from Photoshop users. This is a tiny portion of their market, and their attention is already focused on gaming issues. So in the end if this problem is to have a solution, Adobe must adapt to whatever quirks nVidia or ATI cards have, because I can pretty much guarantee that nVidia or ATI won't adapt to Adobe anytime soon.
I hope Adobe fixes this problem soon, because it has spoiled an otherwise great product.

  • Wine -opengl problem

    Hello,
I will try to explain my problem and hopely someone could give me some hints.
    Ive go these packages: wine 0.9.56-1, xorg-server 1.4.0.90-9,      nvidia-96xx, linux kernel 2.6.24
My Computer prefferences are: Duron 750mhz, 512MB RAM and a gforce 400 MX graphic card
    my xorg.conf
Back on winXP I could run World of Warcraft with about 30fps without any problem and enjoy this game,
but now Im trying to start it on linux with "-opengl" flag on and also I did the regedit but i can run it with only like 1-8 fps.
Is there any possible way to run it on this machine?
    Thanks for help.

750MHz? Are you crazy? Wine has to convert a lot of functions, this takes extra CPU cycles adding on an overhead that brings a weak 750MHz CPU to its knees. I seriously recommend you get a new computer if you want to run Wow through wine. That being said their are some things you can do like running wine in its own X session and killing off processes that you don't need running in the background though with an old 750MHz Duron this still isn't going to make that much of an improvement.

  • NVIDIA Network Adapter problem (MSI K8N Neo4-F)

We have an MSI K8N Neo4- F motherboard.  We are running Windowx XP SP2 (just upgraded to Service Pack 2).  The computer will only boot in Normal mode if we disable or remove the NVIDIA Network Adapter driver.  If we attempt to boot in Normal mode, it always ends with a Bad Pool Header problem (Blue Screen of Death).  If we boot in Safe Mode with Networking, we can access the Internet.  If we disable or remove the driver, then  boot in normal mode, we can run in Normal mode but we do not have internet connection.
Does anyone know how we can use the onboard Network Adapter, and still boot in normal mode?
We have been using the latest drivers from MSI for this motherboard.  Is there a different version that can be used?  Is it possible that we have to update our BIOS for it to work correctly with SP2?
    Thanks!

I think I may have misunderstood what you meant by a clean install.  I probably should have asked what you meant before I answered my last post.
If you mean "did we just build the system by wiping the hard drive, installing  XP SP1, then apply SP2", the answer is no.  The system has been running Windows XP SP1 for several years without any problems, and we just wanted to upgrade to SP2 because there is some software that we want to load that requires SP2 to run.  We have lots of software loaded on this machine that we use every day that we really want to avoid (short of time right now to tackle that project) rebuilding the entire operating system/machine because of the work involved in reloading all the software, etc.
Am I correct in assuming that we would have to wipe out the hard drive and start over if we did a re-install from a slipstreamed SP2 cd?  If so, then we will probably just stay with SP1 for the time being if there is no other option to fix this Nvidia driver problem until we have more time to do a complete re-install and reload of the computer.
What about just installing a NIC in one of the PCI slots and use that instead of the onboard NetWork Adapter?
    Thanks for all your help.
