Possible or safe to charge iPad 1 with Apple A1070 iPod charger from 2004?

I have an iPad 1 and an old Apple A1070 (12 V, 67A) firewire-based charger (with usual dock connector). Can I safely use this to charge my iPad as a spare charger?

Why would I try it? It won't charge.
The pinout of the iPod dock connector has not changed.
The FireWire pins are not the same pins used for USB. You are not pushing 12vdc into a 5vdc pin.

You could use this adapter to use a FW charger

Thanks for the info. I am just the cautious type.....

  • HT1414 when trying to restore my ipad gen 1 it hangs on "Verifying ipad restore with Apple" then returns an error 1602

I have tried to restore my ipad gen 1. When it gets to the Verigying ipad restore with Apple" it seems to hang then returns the error 1602. I have the black screen on my ipad so cannot get to the shut down bar. The ipad has not been tampered with or jail broken. it suddenly would only show the apple symbol for 5 or so seconds then go to a blank screen and then 30 or so seconds later show the apple symbol again. This only happens when plugged into its factory charger.

Have you tried the troubleshooting on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error1603 ?

  • Verifying ipad restore with apple takes too long

I did all the steps as guided to restore my Ipad the 3rd. However, it seems to get stuck with the message "verifying ipad restore with Apple". How can I restore?

Not sure if you are using iTunes or not. However, detach iPad if connected to iTunes, go to Settings, Reset (scroll to the bottom), Erase all Contents and Settings .... and start again!
If you cannot get out of the current screen o do the above then do a Reset first [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!

How long does verifying iPad restore with Apple take after upgrading iTunes?  It's been hours & my pc won't let me close because of it.

Should happen immediately...are your firewalls & anti-virus software turned off? If not, turn all of that stuff of & try again.

  • Is it possible to create subfolders on ipad 2 with a pop account?

Is it possible to add subfolders to my mail account on my ipad 2 with a pop account? I have tried the following : List of mailboxes, clicked on inbos where I want to insert the folder and clicked edit, the following appear; mark, delete and move.  I also have scrolled down in the mailboxes list and no account name appears?
    Thanks

In short, no.  With a pop account, you simply get a dump from the mail providers server.  And the built in mail program does not support additional folders.
For me, that got to be a big enough issue that I changed mail providers to an imap system.

  • Do all the iphone and ipad come with apple pay

Do all IPhone and I Pad come with apple pay.

No. Only the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have the necessary hardware (NFC chip). iPads, iPod touches, and older iPhones don't support it.

  • How can i watch video on IPAD screen with Apple TV?

i have apple tv and itune libary on the same network.
i am wondering if i can watch movies stored in the libary on the ipad screen without turning on the tv or the computer. i have no problem watch the movies on TV thru apple tv. thanks.

If your computer is turned off, the iTunes library is no longer available to the iPad or the Apple TV. You can connect the iPad to the computer and use iTunes to sync your library to the iPad; this copies your music and movies to the iPad, and you can play them whenever and wherever you wish.
If your iPad does not have enough memory to store all your movies, use the "Selected movies only" option and check off the movies you want to copy; the rest will not be copied.

  • Time Machine  Problem with Apple Programs after Restore from A&I

Ok here is my situation. I originally did an Archive and Install before Installing Leopard. I was having performance issues with Photobooth and Time Machine. So, I decided to back everything up and do an Full Restore from Time Machine. I resotred from the Utility menu within the Leopard boot disc. However, after the restore ALL of my Apple programs were missing from Finder and the Dock. Including mail, itunes, photobooth, keynote etc..All iwork, ilife and everything else that came pre bundled. Now, I did an install of Leopard after the Restore (upgrade) and I got the basic apps back. My question now is where my other apps are hiding?? Are they somewhere within the previous system folder from the original Archive and Install?? (I havent been able to check because i'm now at work when the possibility dawned on me)
Does anyone know where these programs would be and how I can restore them?
Also, my prebundled software (Final Cut Express HD) that came pre bundled with My imac G5 originally is asking for a product serial number before it can launch. However, i never had a serial key for it.
Can someone please help and shed some light on this situation.

    Additional Info:
    Imac G5
    1Gb Ram
Original Install was Archive and Install
Did Full Backup With Time Machine
Restore Under Utility in Leopard Boot Disc
    All Apple programs were missing
Did an Upgrade>Install of Leopard after Restore and got back the basic Apps like mail, Garage Band, iTunes etc... However, all iLife was gone as well as Soundtrack and iwork 08...not to mention my Final Cut Express HD now wants a serial # that I do not have because it was pre installed originally with the iMac G5
    Where did these programs go?
How do I get them to restore?
fyi-- My dock where the programs were located (in addition to Applications folder) just had a bunch of ? marks on it where the icons would usually be.
Is it a result of the Archive and Install and the Applications are in the previous system folder?
I cant figure it out because when I search for the programs in FInder all I find is files for the programs and cache files etc... But not the actual Application icon

  • Facetime on iPad 3 with Apple headset

I am able to see and hear the other party on Facetime when using the built in speaker and microphone. When I use the Apple headset (came with the iPhone), I cannot hear the other party through the earbuds and the audio continues to stream through the iPad speaker.  The other party is able to hear me through the headset micophone.  I know the headset audio works fine with other applications.  What can I do?

Though I'm using the short Apple keyboard with my iPad right now with no problems (nor when writing an email just a few moments ago), when I goto post comments on some websites, I then get the doubling.
My 'pad is version 3, its IOS is up-to-date 6.1.3, and the keyboard is model 1314 (bought in 2009 for use with an old, hand-me-down, Mac Mini). Batteries are fresh, just installed today, in case that was the problem -- alas, no.
Since the keyboard works flawlessly on this site, works fine with numerous  apps including WikiPedia, Final Draft Writer, Notes, and FileMaker Go, but does not work periodically on all the differnt sites I run to, I must conclude that the problem is not with either the iPad or the keyboard.
    I would suggest the following:
    a) Install fresh batteries to the keyboard
    b) Fully charge the iPad
    c) Turn off any other Bluetooth toy in the neighborhood -- just in case
    d) Keep a detailed list of what sites and apps do or do not work with the combination
    e) Try using the keyboard with a friend's 'Pad, Macs or PC's (yes, you can use the keyboard with a non-Apple system)
I'd run to the Apple Genius only as very last resort.

  • Is the Classic compatible with Apple A1070 wall charger?

My three-year-old 20gig iPod became unreliable so the other day I went out and bought a 80 gig Classic. But right away I ran into an issue. I have a three-year-old Apple wall charger -- it is the Model A1070. The output is marked 13 volts and 0.62 amps. I have searched high and low and cannot find anything in the Apple documentation to tell me whether I can use this old charger with the iPod Classic. The wall charger being sold now on the Apple website LOOKS the same (it is model MB051LL/A). Also, the A1070 cable snaps into the 30-pin dock connector hole on the Classic just fine (I tried it without plugging in to the wall outlet) -- but I don't know if Apple still has the pins set up the same inside. Also, somewhere I think I saw specs for the Classic that said it wants 12 volts at 1 amp. Can anybody tell me for sure whether it is safe to use the old Model A1070 charger?

    dougjay wrote:
My concern is that the new iPod Classic is stamped next to the port "Rated 5-30 v -- 1 A max." But the three-year-old Apple Model A1070 wall charger is marked "output 13 volts == 0.62 amps." I wish I could find out for sure if it is safe to plug the Classic into this charger with its apparently higher volatate.
The new charger does have a different output. The one I got with my video cable is 5v 1A but since the iPod has a variable power rating of 5 - 30v your older 13v charger is within acceptable limits.

  • How can I connect my iPad either with apple TV or a lightening cable AND get audio?

I am a teacher.  I have a Promethean Board and we have all tried to use ipads in the classroom with audio (we have a ligntening cord and apple tv).  Apparently, it will not work.  Suggestions please!

Apple TV output is hdmi if whatever you're connecting the Apple TV to has no hdmi input
You'd have to adapt hdmi to VGA which is the most common connection
VGA doesn't have any provision for sound so you'll need a hdmi to VGA adaptor that has a audio connection
The audio connection will need to be connected to a sound system of some sort
Apple TV will allow you to wirelessly mirror iPad to whatever is connected to the Apple TV you'll also need a wireless connection for this to work

  • Apple Remote on iPad 2 with Apple TV 1st Gen

I cannot get the remote app to work with my 1st Gen Apple TV with my iPad 2?
    Can anyone help?
(works find using my iPhone 4)

any luck getting it to work? i was considering getting an ipad 2 - but the thing i wanted it most for was as a remote for my apple tv... but... i thought... i bet it doesnt work with my old apple tv since they have the new black ones out.
so i did a web search and found this string.
seems to me apple is devolving - becoming that familiar monster we all turned our backs on years ago -
i feel punished for having touted an original incarnation of a product (I am the only person i know who doesn't hate apple TVs, and this is my thanks!)
(also looked to set up Netflix on it but apparently that's only for new ones too???)
but... i still like the machines... any luck?

  • How to setup iPad air with apple id?

Our setup - Mac Pro 2009 model at home.  My wife and I each with our own iphone.  We both share the same Apple ID in order to use the same purchased music, apps, etc.

what is the solution to have imessages from her Ipad come from her?

is it aol id for apple as make sure you've selected that. other wise contact apple as get them to sort it,

  • Attempting safe boot--gray screen stuck with apple symbol--

So, left Imac on over weekend with Itunes playing in continuous mode--when I got home (about 36 hrs later) the screen was good but Itunes had locked up and was the Imac was making a stuttering sound (not like a hard drive clicking but like the songs were stuck).  The mouse was frozen but the arrow was visible--only way I could get out was to use the power button to force it to shut down.  Since then, I get the gray screen when it boots (not using any shortcut keys during reboot) and it sticks there with the eventual appearance of the perpetual spinning circle under it.  When I boot using all the tricks I can think of, safe boot (hoping to get to safe mode) I get everything from a gray screen with the apple but w/o the spinning circle (that's from safe boot attempt) to choosing the drive to boot from which reveals a text message that instructs me to reboot and another effort gives a page long text of information that begins with "kernel fail" laid over a gray screen w/o the apple logo, and several other options result in the screen staying black.  One screen asked me to type "mac-boot" and enter but nothing new happened.  Once I got the screen to come up solid gray with a single black line (running the width of the screen horizontally) about 2/3 from the top of the screen.  I have tried booting with every peripheral removed (even tried it with multiple keyboards and mice--even w/o a mouse and keyboard).  Tried the PRAM and SMC.  The dvd drive is non-functional and has been for more than a year--(different issue) it won't even open (it's the Imac with the pod base and 15 inch screen all in one look from a few years ago)--just wanted to let that be known because I can't put the OS disk in--it's been upgraded to Lion from the original Panther--I think?
Anyway, looking for solutions, ideas etc...Thank you.

I had that same thing happen to me when I was updating my iPhone to iOS 5! What I did was I just kept resetting and resetting and holding down the home and power buttons until 3 in the morning. (ok, maybe it was only midnight but it sure FELT like 3 AM!) Anyway, I would just keep at it until it decides it wants to cooperate. Mine eventually did.
