Possible reset safari and downloads window bug
I have noticed, at different times on different macs...
Reset safari, open the downloads window and the items in there do not clear out. In fact, it takes two reset Safari's to clear them out. Now, I have them set to download to desktop and not the downloads folder. I can reproduce 1 out of 3 times.

I have checked on multiple computers and even the Apple Retail store, the issue continues to happen, but there is no rhyme or reason what the trigger is:
I have noticed with Safari 3.2 and 3.2.1 that when resetting Safari, the downloads window does not always clear out. Upon an additional reset, the window does clear out.
If the downloads window was open, then you close it, reset safari, and then reopen the downloads window, whatever was there is still there (until you reset again).

Go to the View menu -> Show Statusbar if it available, and then make sure the bottom of your screen is visible. When you hover over a link, if it says: mailto: it will open in your default e-mail reading application set by your browser or your e-mail program preferences.
Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Software Update lets you change how often you see the software update window.
G5s are not Intels. -

I am wondering if it is possible to install and run Windows Server 2008 on a Mac Mini Server as a VM as my main application uses Windows VisualBasic and Fox Pro and requires a Static IP to connect to it, My other offices connects to Windows Server via RDP.
Basically I am researching a Server for the same purpose and since Mac Mini and OsX both are robust in nature it can fit the bill if every thing work fine.

Safari is running very slow. I have cleared cache, reset safari, and added DNS Servers 208.67.222.222.
Mac Mini connected directly to modem by ethernet cable. Ipad loads same web pages much faster. Again thanks for help.

Installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo reinstalls the App Store for you. It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.8
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed. Then try the App Store.
If that didn't help, if you have anti virus software installed, you need to disable that. And third party apps such as Little Snitch can prevent access to the App Store as well. -

From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
Check the box beside each item you want to reset.
No need to check the box beside "Remove saved names and passwords".

I recently added Maverick to my Safari and downloaded a book from the library to Digital Editions 2 on my computer. When I downloaded the book to my Kobo, Kobo would not allow me to open it saying it was owned by Digital Editions and saying something about my password. Do I need to change to Digital Editions 3??
Hey! I had the same problem you did just today when I was trying to get my second iPhone to sync. What you need to do with music or anything extra that you doing you have to creat a second playlist or picture or anything that you would like to use, so that you can add to the second device that you are going to be using. I am not sure if that will help but it helped me out a lot!! Good luck!

Yesterday while on WiFi at an international airport, I suddenly lost content in Safari. A window popup suggested that someone was trying to spoof setup.iCloud. After arriving home to my own network, Safari still was acting strange. Do I need to be concerned with possible malware or other destructive software remaining on my iPad?

Can a safari and microsoft window share equal space?
Is it possible to have two application windows open (one say safari and the other microsoft word) and be able to see both windows at the same time clearly? For instance if I am in the process of writng a review on an article i read on cnn.com and i dont want to keep switching btwn. the two windows

You can adjust the size of the windows to fit one side by side. Just drag the bottom right corner and adjust to fit.
The MB's screen is a little small for that, but it can work if you fiddle with it. -
I've reset Safari and completely messed it up!
I've been plagued by the spinning ball on Safari for a few days. Took some online advice and reset Safari hoping it would cure the problem. Unfortunately

CliveCheck whether there is a crash report:
Go to your Applications Folder and open your Utilities Folder. Open the application Console.
In the left-hand column, click on Crash Reporter.
Click on the small triangle under Crash Reporter in the l/h column and they will all be listed.
Scroll down to the latest Safari report and click on it.
Now click on the r/h column (which now only shows THAT crash report and then Command-a to copy it all.
Come back here and Command-v it to post it here! -

with Safari your only chance is to hold the cmd key while clicking on the link. In my favourite browser (OmniWeb) there's an option to do what you want. It's not free, but I still recommend to give it a try: http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omniweb/

Is there a way to open the Downloads window in Safari? I understand that there is now a tab to temporily display the list, but I am hoping I can still view Downloads in a separate window (a terminal command perhaps?). I prefer keeping the Downloads window open in a corner of my desktop with other app activity monitoring windows.
Thanks.This is one of a few reasons why I still use Snow Leopard with Safari 5.1.10 on my day-to-day browsing machine, etc. - I also enjoy the fact that I can drag and drop files, gifs, urls, etc. onto the Safari download manager. Also, it's really nice to be able to observe the download speeds at a glance without some window covering up my browser window, etc.
Why on Earth Apple decided to force all users into this narrow situation is beyond me. They should at the very least give users the OPTION to pull the window away and utilize as a download manager for those who want and need it. It's also a shame the dumbed down Safari and removed the Activity Window which is yet another power user feature that I use quite a lot.
Between things like this and Maverick's horrible downgrade of available plug-ins, etc. for Quick Look of video files, etc. - I'm stuck only using Mavericks on another Mac on occasion for things that no longer work in 10.6.8. I really wish Apple would stop downgrading a lot of the functionalities that makes me prefer Apple to Windows.
It's like they resent people being able to control their own computers nowadays and it only makes me want to jettison from this platform to something more open and doesn't fight with me to do what I want it to in the way I want it to.
Seems like Apple is forgetting their power users in their haste to appeal to more iPad users. -
Firefox takes forever to load. When trying to fill in a form on a Web Page the Keyboard wont work and I have to close Firefox and start over. It stops for no reason and page gets s white haze over it. I have reloaded Foxfire. Uninstalled it and downloaded the latest version but it continues. Any clues Thanks Haydn
Another update:
I just tried a different router, an older wireless version of the same router and when I first plugged it in and restarted my computer the internet seemed to work normally again, under 5 second page loads (which is still slower than I'm used to getting, but it was a major improvent).
Then I checked different slots in the router to see if my IP address was changing and it was still remaining on the same IP regardless of which slot I put it in. Do I have to restart my computer everytime I change slots? Either way the internet seemed to be working fine again.
Then I switched back to the other cord that was producing the problems and the speed slowed down again, but it was still loading pages within 10-20 seconds, leading one to believe it was indead the cord.
However, a few minutes into browsing around the web the speed seems to be getting progessively slower. I quit Safari a few times and restarted and the pages would now flash up with no delays, click one or two links with the same results. Then with the 4th or 5th new page the speed slows, and has been slowing to a dead hault again....
I am out of ideas, seemingly a different cord and different router helped things, but only at first. I don't think I can rule out the cord and router as not being problems, but I don't think they are the only problem either.
It must be something to do with the IP addresses, as I am still getting the same address regardless of which router port I put it in. But, I've tried resetting the routers and going into their configurations and resetting them to system defaults, all with no luck.
You would think my computer is the problem, as my roommates computer hasn't had any problems, however everything else on my computer is working perfectly, I've not noticed any other problems and I've tried setting and resetting every network configuration option I can think of and that still doesn't fix the problem.
Maybe the ethernet port on my computer is busted?
