is it possible to buy another three pronged extension for the power block w/o buying a whole new power block?
i ask because i have my powerblock set up in my room and it would be much more convenient to have an extra three pronged extention so that i can just slide off the block and move it to the other room instead of having to reach behind my desk to remove it from the outlet

Apple only sells it as a set with the adaptor. I don't know about other stores. I found that one by googling "macbook power cord", so if you do some more searching you might find more.

in fact I have already removed about twenty notebooks (ASUS, Toshiba, HP, MSI, IBM and Acer) and recovered to about half without problems and without a manual :D Note that the rest was not intended to be reassemble ;)
I do have some knowledge of hardware, but I never removed the plastic surrounding the slabs screens. There I am afraid to break the plastic, but hey we'll see :^0 And surfing along Seamey last link, I've found some nice tips for screen and inverter replacement. I give you what seems to be te most important tip: use a hard guitar pick.
I think I will order the new screen by the end of the week. I'll try to take some pics of the process and post it as feedback.

But as far as i read on the internet even if you buy without a contract the phones come with an at&t simlock. Is it possible to buy an iPhone 4 without a simlock in the USA?

Hi Cagri, Yes good for you doing some research before you buy. As stated the US iPhone is simlocked and cannot be officially unlocked. If you are going to be close to Canada you can buy a unlocked phone from an Apple Retail Store. If you do so, please bring a micro sim from your carrier to ensure it will work before you head home. Also note that is you buy an iPhone from another country, if any warranty issues you will need to ship the phone to someone you know in that country, Canada or UK, and have them bring it to Apple for service. All at your expense. While you may be initially saving 1/3 of the cost, it could cost you much more down the road.

Now I'm living in Denmark, therefore I don't know whether it's possible to buy a MacBook with Danish keyboard in US.
The price - for let's say the new Retina - in US is $2199 while it costs nearly $3099 in Europe.
The saving is nice. The only problem is the keyboard - so is it possible to configure a MB with another keyboard in the stores?

Hi. I loooked into this myself a few years ago when I was living in Denmark (Charlottenlund) and I was never able to find an acceptable workaround. Apple would refer me to the Danish Apple Store for the part and it ended up being cheaper just to buy the machine in Denmark.
I don't recall if the Danish keyboard is substantially different from other European keyboards. Example, maybe the French keyboard could be added as a CTO, then hand-carried into DK with your carryon.
I also recall some specific difficulties shipping the unit vs. hand-carrying across the Atlantic. Every once in a while something would get opened up and there were penalties and taxes added to the import. Very frustrating.

'Three Prong' (Earthed) UK Mag Safe Adapter Query

Hey guys and gals,
I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and was quick to find out that when using the MagSafe adapter with the UK adapter (the one that fits directly into the 'brick', not the one that has a cable that fits into the 'brick'.) it causes static build up - I understand this is because the cable is earthed by featuring metallic contacts on the groove that slides over the pin on the power block.
However, I often don't require the long cable and was wondering if there are any third party adapters that are simply the plug but do feature this extra contact for earthing?

This has been a "characteristic" of Apple notebooks since at least the first Alu Powerbooks, gerkers. I ran into it myself while working , with the "three prong" cord attached to a PB12" 867MHz model, while staying in some units in outback Queensland that clearly had faulty earth wiring, and I've also experienced it using the two prong "duck head" adaptor. I've even noticed it on a polycarbonate "iBook" when touching a screw that went into its metal chassis. So it has been around for many , many years, and I've yet to hear of anyone being genuinely injured by it. I've always wondered myself, as you do, though, why Apple don't simply provide a three prong earthed duckhead adaptor , rather than the two pronged one. At least in places with no earth problems it would prevent any concern or discomfort.

I have tried this dev. once.. Just thought of sharing the same. Defined some product attributes in GTS to hold some customized flags in Product master-Additional data tab.
For example: Tried updating country flags in the Product master in GTS.
Country flags are updated based on extension of a Material to a Plant in R/3. i.e, Whenever a Material is extended to a Plant in GTS, we use the Plant country code and update the same in Product master.
And similarly, whenever the Deletion flag is setup, the same can be removed. For this to work automatically, just activated change pointers for MARC-LVORM for /sapsll/matmas_sll.
But in my case, it was a customized development.Not really sure, if this is available in standard.

It's also much more difficult to install third-party hard drives in current or recent Macs than it was. See:

The 2012 iMacs are also in essence glued together and very difficult to disassemble and reassemble. The bottom line is: don't try it.
Why, if I may ask, would you want to remove the 3TB drive and replace it with a 1TB drive? What is it you hope to achieve even if it were possible?

That I am not 100% positive on. If the phone is unlocked from the factory I don't see why it would need to be activated on Verizon first before using another carrier's SIM. I would think that you can just pop in a AT&T (for example) SIM from the beginning and do the initial iPhone setup using that.
I do believe Verizon itself won't sell you the phone at all unless you connect it on a service plan. Not sure if Apple forces you to do the same at its stores.
Verizon and AT&T actually use the same exact model number iPhone.

No SOLUTION FROM HERE, but I have an unresolved issue with similar overtones.
As a new member, having had a birthday gift from a family member in another country, I am dismayed to find out that there is an unresolved business logic issue, which will allow me to own a MacBook Air, but because I live in a different country to the place of purchase there is a big No No. Additionally, my pension provideds me with a credit card from that first origin, but I am forbidden from buying any software elswhere? Apple seem reluctant to discuss this with me, but some solutions have been offered to get me the free downloads?
Does this come under 'unfit for purpose' and/or 'dodgy trading'? Apple unspoken message, buying from abroad. Dont go there!

My iPhone 2G bought in august 2007 is dead and I would like to buy another one, old version. Is it possible to find units in AT&T or Apple Stores in New York? Or it is totally out of stock?

Some stores will still have them in the back someplace. So all you can do is maybe look stores up. Dial. And ask if they have new iPhones still for sale. Might get lucky and find a store with a couple still in stock.
Otherwise wait till July 11th and you can get the new Generation for the new cost. Plus the iPhone might even be available in you're country by then. Check back soon if you are willing to wait.
