Possible to change MSI Splash Screen @ Boot???

I dont like it.  Is there a way to modify it?
thanks
Sean

Hi Uhkordguy,
Modbin is not a splash screen editor, but a BIOS editor. Don't refrain from using Modbin If it doesn't work with WinXP, use it in DOS then. In WinXP, you still can use any painter software to make your splash screen according to the size and format, then use Modbin to bind them together.

  • Removed Battery from MB to clear CMOS, Now no MSI splash screen, no booting

    My System:
    CPU: AMD 720 X3 2.3 Mhz per core.
    MB: MSI K9A2 Platinum, Version 1, 1.4
    Memory: OCZ Platinum II memory, 4 1gb sticks.  667
    GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD4850, 1GB memory
    HD: Seagate Baracuda 7200 500GB memory card.  RAID.  Recently replaced.  I can hook it up as an external SATA -> ESATA to my laptop via a 1.5 ESATA PCMCIA card.
    OS:  XP, SP3, 32 bit
    PSU:  Ultra 750w, +5v 32A
    My PC was working, until this.  In the boot menu, I was getting the raid setting instead of the hard drive, so I decided to reset the CMOS.  I changed the Jumper and that did not clear settings enough.  I pulled the battery and reinstalled it.  Now, When I turn the PC on, I just see a black screen.  No MSI splash screen, no Posting.  No response at all.  The MB gets power.  Lights on, fans working, but nothing more.  My main HD is getting power but it is not read.  There is no sound of feel of the heads moving.  As I mentioned, I can access it as an external drive on my laptop and all diagnostics have been fine.
    I don't know what I did to my system, but I would really appreciate any help fixing it.  I have built PCs since the mid 90s, and I am sure that all cables are connected properly.
    Thank you.

    5V of the powersupply is unimportant, the 12V combined output it (if the psu lists that).
    As for the memory, try 1 stick only! See what happens.
    The Cmos clear jumper clears everything, HOWEVER! the power from the powersupply MUST be removed!
    Else it keeps getting 5V-stb and the cmos won't be cleared.
    However, this didn't happen out of the blue, what did you do before this?
    12V 45A.  The MB started every time before this.

    this is a system that I built over 8 months ago. the only thing I
    did was upgrade the cpu to a E8400( from a e6750). I had no previous
    problems. but after the upgrade. I first received an error
    = attempt to overclock failed = ( cant quote but as I remembered it)
     press any button to reset bios.( I have received this message before with the old cpu but with a restart the system went on as normal). After the system restart, it just sits on the splash screen. I never attempted
    to overclock the memory. the jb1 & jb2 jumpers are on 1 & 2 pins(same way it
    came from newegg). I tried to use different memory( in all of the slots) same outcome.
    I unplugged
    all other hardware except vid card> same outcome. I even used a different
    vid card> same outcome.

    NFIXIT

    There are three possible solutions to solve the situation:
    1) Install a processor supported by the current BIOS Version to be able to properly turn on your system and then update the BIOS to the latest Version to be able to use your E8400/E0 (update should be done from DOS only).
    2) Ask in a local computer shop or contact your reseller to do the same thing for you.
    3) Connect an internal floppy drive and a PS/2 Keyboard and then try to force the system into AMI BIOS Recovery Mode.  Instructions:
    Quote
    Rename the desired AMI BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM and save it on a floppy disk. e.g. Rename A7345IMS.1xx to AMIBOOT.ROM
    Insert this floppy disk in the floppy drive. Turn On the system and press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update. It will read the AMIBOOT.ROM file and recover the BIOS from the A drive.
    When 4 beeps are heard you may remove the floppy disk and restart the computer.
    Even though the AMI BIOS Recovery Procedure is the only chance you have to solve the situation without installing a different processor, it does not work in all cases.  However, as it is an easy procedure, it is at least worth a try.

  • Frozen on msi splash screen

     I built my barebones pc a week ago, using amd athlon 64 3500+, on an MSI K9MM_V motherboard.   Everything perfect until about an hour ago, when it suddenly shut down, and when I tried to reboot it freezes on the MSI splash screen (which says hit "del" for setup, hit "f1" for post.) Neither works, I cannot do anything whatsoever. Cannot even get into the bios.  There is power to the mobo, lights and fans are all working, hard drives spinning, i tried resetting the bios by taking the battery out for about a half hour, i pressed on all connectors to make sure properly seated, etc, everything looks fine. This sounds to me like a motherboard problem, please someone let me know what you think.  Remember, the thing is, there is NO POST, NO NOTHING, JUST THE MSI SPLASH SCREEN, WHICH DISPLAYS INDEFINITELY.  ctrl+alt+del does nothing.  I tried another keyboard, just for the hell of it.   I don't know what to do.  I bought the barebones kit from TigerDirect.com, and I know that they will probably give me an rma but how can I be sure it is the motherboard that is bad, not the CPU?  It was running so nicely, Vista Home Premium.  Thanks for help anyone!!!

    Thanks for all the replies.   I tried the reset button as suggested by fenelonm, it did not help.   Then I followed the specific directions to reset cmos as posted by Henry.  For Grayone, here is the entire system:
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Socket AM2 CPU
    Maxtor 200 GB EIDE hd
    Sabrent Ultra ATA 100/133 IDE RAID PCI Control card (Currently supporting 3 additional ide hard drives that I use for storage only.)
    Thermaltake A4022 TR2-R1 CPU Fan socket am2
    crucial 1044MB PC 4200 DDR2 533Mhz ram
    ThermalTake silent cat case fan
    MSI K9MM-V Socket AM2 motherboard
    Power Up Mid T ATX Case w 450WPSU
    BFG Geforce 6200 256 ram AGP video card
    thats about it.  I could be so so wrong here but given that I get nothing but the MSI logo on the screen and can go no further, doesn't that have to be either the CPU or the systemboard??  What else could it possibly be?      If the CPU were dead, would I still get the MSI logo splash screen?   This is my dilemma, when I call Tiger Direct I want to be pretty sure which component is bad.    Keeping in mind all the while, the system performed perfectly for a week.  The last thing I did on it was print out a PDF file, went fine.   then shut down, then splash screen, end of the fun......

  • GS60-2QE (970M) Stuck at MSI Splash Screen

    Evening all,
    Just went to use my laptop and I'm stuck at the MSI splash screen. I can't get to the BIOS or anything.
    I haven't ever dropped it and it's always handled with care. Last night it was last used and has been working totally fine up until now.
    Any ideas? I've only had it a month so don't want to open it up.
    Cheers
    Will

    There's a reset hole at the right side of the body. Find a paperclip to poke it and power on again to see if it resets your laptop. If it's still stuck on BIOS logo, I am afraid you'll need to send it to MSI service centers.

  • Switched computer cases and now I hang at the MSI splash screen.

    Hey guys. I've never had any problems with building my PC until yesterday on the simplest of tasks.
    I decided to buy a new case and switch everything over but when I did it decided to hang on the MSI motherboard splash screen.
    Specs:
    * MEM 4Gx2|G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL + one more stick.
    * Processor = AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDT55TFBGRBOX
    * Graphics Card = HD 7950
    * Motherboard = MB MSI| 880GM-E41 880G R
    * PSU = CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply
    * OS = Windows 7 64Bit
    * No overclocking.
    So far I've done the following.
    * Removed battery/Jumped the bios.
    * Checked and rechecked each RAM stick.
    * Removed all connections.
    * Removed graphics card etc.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated, Christmas has kind of killed my budget for a new build.
    Thanks!
    These are as far as I can get before everything stops working.

    Really strange.
    Have you made sure that there was will be/was no contact between mobo and case (apart from spots where the contact should be made) ? This could've break the motherboard.
    Check ALL of the power supply cable connections between it and mobo.
    Now something weird which doesn't seen to make any sense... Try to put your motherboard back to the old case.
    That's all my suggestions, apart from that, if you're still able, then get it on a warranty and RMA it.
    Good luck.

  • Change BIOS Splash Screen?

    Is there a way to change the bios splash screen on the newer thinkpads?
    I found a guide for the older ones but i'm not sure if it works for the newer ones (particularly the W520 for me): http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_change_the_BIOS_bootsplash_screen
    Thanks!

    I looked at my T430s and it is as you describe, but I don't know of anyone who has done this since the UEFI BIOS was introduced, I haven't dealt with custom flash images since the T60. If it doesn't work, I would be afraid that the instructions might be outdated and just might not work.

  • Photoshop CC, Change opening splash screen?

    Hello,
    Has anyone figured out how to change the Creative Cloud version of the splash screen?,
    I'd like to add custom artwork on the top corner and my company name when loading the application.

    Because Photoshop will launch successfully with a different OS X user account, can someone suggest which specific Console log(s) in both accounts to investigate (or search for the existence of) that may help diagnose why Photoshop won't launch?
    Additional behavior:
    In the problematic account, Photoshop starts to launch, and its menus appear. Many menus are black, but when you select a menu choice (such as Photoshop > About Photoshop or File > Open), then all Photoshop menus and choices gray out. Then you have to force quit Photoshop.
    However, if you first (while menu choices are still black) choose File > Open in Bridge CS6 (or words to that effect), then Bridge will open.
    Thanks.

  • Solaris 11 enable default splash screen boot-up

    After playing around with 'bootadm' due to some reasons, I restored the original menu like 'bootadm generate-menu' and everything runs just perfect.
    But the original Solaris boot splash screen dismissed.
    I know many people around want to disable it while running virtually on e.g. vmware.
    I am running on a physical machine and want the default splash back!
    How to restore it, please?

    I don't have a system to check on this myself but you might look in /boot/grub to see if the default
    splash screen file is included. The file name should be apparent. If it is included, then the bootadm
    syntax (from the bootadm.1m man page) looks something like this:
    # bootadm set-menu splashimage=/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
    Thanks, Cindy

  • T530 change BIOS splash screen

    I tried to change the BIOS splash screen with the guide in the FLASH folder but I only get a black screen.
    I've tried a jpg file less then 30kb with 640x480 but this didn't work.
    Does anyone have any suggestions or got it to work?

  • **!! SOLVED !!** MSI P7N Platinum SLI Stuck on Splash Screen

    Okay, so I got a bunch of new hardware for Christmas and finally the rest for my birthday this weekend and I am stumped.  I got all installed and when booting, I get the MSI splash screen with the spaceship and nothing else...just stays there on the splash.  Only one beep like my other MSI boarded PC and no more after that.  I have tried reseating all components including CPU, ram, graphics card and still no luck.  Also have tried with mainboard out of case on the box with all connectors plugged in.  My hardware is as follows:
    MSI P7N Platinum mainboard
    Intel E8400 Wolfdale
    Corsair DDR2 2 x 1gb
    nVidia PCI-E 260 fx card
    I have all else unplugged to eliminate as much as possible.  PLEASE help me salvage this because I have to say its been the most disappointing birthday ever this year LOL. Thanks guys!!!!
    P.S.  Also tried reseting CMOS many times including overnight unplugged and mainboard battery removed.

    OK everyone...problem is fixed.  As u all thought, the S-Spec of my CPU was not supported my the BIOS version (1.1) that the Mainboard P7N comes with...so the way I remedied the situation was to find (and purchase) a cpu that is on the cpu support page for mainboard that is supported by bios version 1.1.  I also must note, do not go by just the model number, go only by S-Spec number.  Once my Intel Celeron D 3.3 came today, started pc with a botable floppy (made by windows on my other machine) and flashed bios the old fashioned way with floppy disk.  After flash to version 1.3, put my CPU back in and what do you know...IT WORKS!!!   So got Windows installed and have been stable for about 6 hours now.  Thanks all who contributed...I love you all!!!  LOL

    Does anyone knows what could be the cause?  Only one thing I have to mention is the size of the image is 640*960 instead of 1280*768

  • MSI Z97 Gaming 7: Soundblaster Cinema Software, Disable Splash-Screen?

    Hi there,
    is it possible to disable the splash Screen of the Soundblaster Cinema Software? Its really annoying on Windows Startup.
    I've already checked the Options in the Software but didnt find a Thing to disable it.
    Thanks in advance

    MSconfig is not necessary, you can just tell it not to start with windows.
    Obviously avoiding the software avoids the splash screen but it's not a real solution.
