Possible to charge iPod while using Video out option?

I've read that you can use video out while maintaining its charge by simply 'ejecting' the iPod from Windows (but maintaining the physical cable connection).
But what about using a generic wall charger? Such as this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009T81YE/qid=1146811575/sr=8-1/ref=pdbbs1/103-4014541-7815810?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=301185
Or even using apple's official wall charger? With one of these pieces of equipment is the iPod locked in "do not disconnect" mode? Or is it free to be used?
I hope someone can get back to me soon! Thanx
  Windows XP Pro

using the wall charger does not put up the "do not disconnect" screen. thats only wen its connected to a computer. so yes u can keep ur ipod on charge while using the video out.

  • 3rd generation iPod Touch and Video Out - "whoops!!!"

Before I jump to any conclusions about Apple, here is my experience with the Video out operation of my brand new 3rd generation 64 GB iPod Touch. This is my third iPod and about a year ago I decided (at great personal expense) to purchase the Apple Composite AV Cable (despite the fact that you can buy copies of the cable on eBay for 1/10th the price). When I plugged this cable into my new iPod touch, the Video Out option was greyed out. I tried lots of different things but eventually gave up and went to the Apple Store to see what it said about compatability. Sure enough, the 3rd Generation Touch is the ONLY iPod, iPhone etc not mentioned. I call my friendly apple support person who says "*of course it will work, I am 100% sure*". I then jokingly asked if he would give me $1000 if he was wrong and begrudgingly he put me on hold "just to check". 15 minutes later (unusual for Apple) he came back to me saying that *I "might" be right but he was 100% sure that if I connected my cable via a Universal Dock it would work.*
Now, before I go out and spend any more money on a Universal Dock, has anybody tried this? Why would apple make the change ONLY to the 3rd Gen iPod touch?
I have noticed that there is one nasty non-apple cable on the market that claims it will work BUT it doesn't have the ability to charge...... besides I ONLY buy legit Apple products.
    Any comments?

Wow Apple pulled tha last post almost as quick as it was written.
I have been in the IT industry for 18 years, when I started out I read the Mac bible and got a job supporting 1000 macs (remember the wonderful days of the symbol of the little bomb and all you could do is re-install the OS - what a joke). We ditched the Mac due to limited application support (nothing has changed much has it). I did not look at another apple product for 15 years, got a Touch for free ( CC points) Firmware 2.2, loved the little bugger, had a whole new respect for Apple. Happily got 2 cables from eBay for $5.00 for both, video to the tv, charging, audio, best of all worlds. Then, I upgrade to version 3.01 for $5.00, what a deal, copy paste, etc. till I plug in my cables and nothing works anymore. Take it to the car for my FM receiver,. only mono now. Oh sorry you now have to dish out $50.00 for our cables (the /B version not the /A cause we even screwed our customers that bought our own cables) and oh ya you can only buy over priced FM receiver products that pay bloated license fees to Apple. Then we come to your story, you buy "Only Apple products" which do not work (check for the /A model of the cable, you need the /B (/B= Buy again?? Maybe) and then the support guy tells your to go out and spend yet another $50.00 on a universal dock and you are asking if you should do it. Sure spend another $50.00 for the chip enabled dock, it will work, hmm, I think I have put together a pc for less than $100.00

  • I can't seem to get my iPod touch (4th Gen) to play photo slideshows or videos through my TV.  Is this a design flaw?  Or is it me?  My old iPod used to do it no problem, but now I can't even find any video out options in the settings.

  • Charge Thunderbolt while using Kickstand...

I read about a solution work around for not being able to charge device while using kickstand because the plug is on the bottom, check this out because it looks like the new Photon 4G kickstand solutions works for the Thunderbolt also....
    http://www.androidcentral.com/want-charge-your-photon-4g-and-use-kickstand-just-flip-it-over

    Wildman,
Not trying to be adversarial, but that is about the Motorola Proton and I'm not sure how that pertains to the Thunderbolt. I have never been able to get my TBolt kickstand to support the phone with the charging port at the top. I use the Verizon extended battery and have the Seidio surface case for it. It has it's own built in kickstand that does support it in landscape with the charging port at the top, allowing me to charge the phone while in the landscape position.

  • Using Video Out Distorts Desktop Icons

When I use my video out, the icons on my desktop get moved around. I understand why this happens when the resolution changes to send video out, but why don't the icons restore back to their original locations once I disconnect the video out? Is there a way to prevent the icons moving or to get the computer to restore them automatically? It's such a pain that I avoid using video out even though I could get a lot of use out of it. Any suggestions short of removing all the icons from my desktop? Thanks.

  • Does ipod touch support video out

Does the new ipod touch support video out to indash screen in car?

Then it's back to Illaass advise; contact the car system manufacturer or go to their support site, see if it supports the iPod 5 or iOS 7 and follow up with whether not iPod 5 supports TV out to a TV via HDMI or VGA adopter. Good luck.

  • Problem charging iPod  Black 60GB VIDEO

I put my iPod to charge from the wall as always. After a while as usual the charge green icon appear in my iPod, but when I try to play my music my iPod said LOW POWER BATTERY and something else that I couldn't read 'cause the iPod shut off. I put it to charge [for 6 hrs] in the PC [Windows XP] and the 'Very Low battery' monochrome icon appears. You can browser through the iPod content but as soon as I push the play button it turn off saying the low battery messege. The thing is that when you are browsering through the battery icon shows fully charge. If I have the iPod charging from the wall, I can listen to the music, if I have the iPod charging from the PC the monochrome icon will appear and I can't update, sync ect. The charger works because my sister charged her iPod [Black 30GB VIDEO] and the sync cable works 'cause she updated her iPod software, since she uses the laptop to sync.

If your iPod only works correctly when connected to external power, then it's very likely that the battery has died on your iPod. You cannot overcharge the battery has the other poster has suggested.
The monochrome non animated battery icon you see when you connect the iPod to the computer means that the battery is discharged.
There are things you can try here.

  • Electrical power for iPod while watching videos...

I was wondering if there was a way to leave my iPod connected to my MacBook while watching videos on my TV so that the iPod draws power from my MacBook and not the iPod battery. I don't have a universal dock, so I don't want to completely drain my battery while watching the videos on my TV.

If you use an A/V cable from Apple or third party ( some thrird party cables require you to swich the yellow and red at TV) from iPod mini plug and get an Apple or third party power adaptor (which will work with your USB cable that came with the iPod) it should work fine.
As to playing Video and Music from iPod and using the your MacBook as the power source I think that would also work, it may be better to frist eject the iPod but leave it attached.
Why would you not just play stuff directly to TV from the MacBook and only use iPod when the laptop is not available?
The best way to do what you want is to get thhe A/V kit from Apple or a third party A/V dock and cable. There are several listed on the Apple store on this site or at iLounge (http://forums.ipodlounge.com/).

  • No Audio When using Video Out to Firewire

I do not get any audio when I use Firewire ntsc as my video out. When I set video out to canvas playback then I get audio. I want to use print to video but I cannot because the audio will not work with Firewire. I get the image on my external monitor but not the audio. I checked to make sure and the audio was not on the recorded dvd. I cannot not use print to video with canvas playback.
My Easy Setup is Format: NTSC, Use DV NTSC DV Converter. I tried using Firewire basic and got the same results.
    Please Help
    Ken

The audio does not play at all from the timeline if video out is set to Firewire. To answer your question, no the audio does not play in the external monitor when playing back from the timeline when Canvas is used as the video out. However, I don't believe the converter box is the problem. The audio would play in the internal speakers when using firewire as video out but it does not.

  • Error while using  odi out file

    hi all
Am using odi out file for displaying error in separate file.
If i give the path of the file in target file directly am getting the error properly loading inside text file.
Is it possible to assign the target file path in variable and use that variable in target file of odi out file ?
can u pls tel me whether using variable for target file location is possible, if so please tel how to do it
    Edited by: user12209948 on Sep 26, 2011 2:16 AM

    Hi,
use the physical schema and get the path using ODIRef Functions for example ODIFileMove
    OdiFileMove "-FILE=<%=odiRef.getSchemaName(""FILE_LOGICAL"", ""D"")%>/#PROJ_X.vFileName" "-TOFILE=<%=odiRef.getSchemaName(""FILE_LOGICAL"", ""D"")%>/#PROJ_X.vFDir/#PROJ_X.vNewFile" "-OVERWRITE=NO" "-CASESENS=NO" "-RECURSE=NO"
This command moves the file with vFileName to a vNewFile in a another directory
FILE_LOGICAL is the logical schema name mapped to physical schema say your target directory ( eg C:\test )
    Same logic applies to ODIOutFile

  • Rapid flickering while using video chat

Hi, I'm new here but not new to macs. I've owned my imac for a couple of months now and haven't experienced any problems with it until now. I've used video chat many times on this computer but today, when I was vid chatting with a friend, the video screen would flicker my wallpaper (background) and certain tabs of open applications. This continued throughout the entire time I was using video chat. I know it wasn't his connection because I held up a mirror to my friend and he saw it too.
I recently had dragged some .GIF files into the blank 'backdrop' effects box but I highly doubt that caused the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Is it possible to prevent users from using the ''Purge'' option from the ''Recover deleted items'' in Office 365?

    Hi,
After speaking with a Microsoft engineer over the phone, I've been told that there is no way to prevent users to go to their OWA and manually Purge specific items from the ''Recover deleted items''. The Microsoft tech told us to place the desired mailboxes
on a litigation-hold and that all data will be recoverable... but only from the time you place the mailbox onto Litigation-Hold and previous items, which doesn't take effect for new-coming emails.
1- From what I understand, any new items coming in the mailbox after the Litigation-Hold is put in place will still be ''purgeable'', right?
2- Is there a way (PowerShell, Security group, etc.) that can prevent a user from using the Purge option?
We are very surprised that there is absolutely no thread that talks about this issue, which in our opinion, is a major legal and security flaw from Office 365. This is a main concern for us to actually go with Office365. For instance, this means that at
any given time, if a user exchanges emails with a competitor, they can manually purge emails sent and receive as soon as it is sent/received, even after Litigation-Hold is in place.
Thank you for your reply and let us know if you have more questions.

    Thank you for the reply.
Is there still a way to prevent users from using the Purge option, like with a Powershell script to disable Purge?

  • Can the Classic display video on its own screen while sending video "out"?

Well, the topic pretty well covers it. I'd like to use the iPod as a monitor while outputting to projector. Any way to do this?

Unfortunately, the new 3rd generation Nanos require the more expensive Composite or Component cables for TV out to work. The cable you are using is the older regular A/V cable.

p.s. if you DO have the newer composite cable, as shown on the page I linked to, then you might simply have a bad cable, which has been reported here from time to time as happening.

Yes you can do that without problems.
The other way around (charging iPad with iPod Touch charger) will not work because the wall charger of the iPod Touch does not deliver enough power for the iPad.
