Possible to Connect Lync 2010 Client Without Lync Server?

I'm currently running CUCM 7.1.5 and CUPS 8.6.3 in conjunction with CUPC 8.5.x, and I'm just curious to know if it's possible to connect the Lync 2010 client to CUCM/CUPS for IM and phone control without the use of a Lync Server.

Thanks, I didn't think so... but a misinformed sales rep suggested it was.
If I just want to tie CUCM and Lync together, do I need anything special (UC Integration for Lync?) or is  it possible to do it with just a SIP interface?

  • Direct connection between 2 clients without any configuration!

I wan to make a system act like hamachi or logmein (websever & clients).
I have a webserver on the internet and two client from different networks connected to this webserver, now i want to make directly connection between these clients without any configuration on router. I think it is possible because all infomation about clients network could be got from http request which they send to server. But i don't know what exact fields in the header of http request that i need and how to set them to create connection between clients. I need some ideas about this issue.

I know, so if you want to use a remote control tool such as: VNC, remote desktop you must config on router or server. But even if you had a proxy(permit port 80) when you type www.sun.com you will get data from it, this data was sent from Sun to your proxy and in some way the data was return to your browser. So i think if we have enough information(it come from the webserver) we could init a connection between 2 client. An example of this is Hamachi.
At first 2 hamachi clients connect to a server of hamachi, when they have their id, a tunnel between 2 clients was established without any configuration on proxy(certainly that server did not deny port of hamachi). From now 2 clients can exchange data not through the server. The same in logmein, you can remote desktop any where with zero configuration, but the speed is guarantee because they contact to server for query information, but the data was transmited directly. Sorry if i make mistake. It doesn't work the way you think.
There is a proxy or you have to have one side listening with a ServerSocket and have ports opened as needed. You can't create a Socket connection on server A between clients B and C and then pass it off to clients B and C and magically they just talk to each other.
It does not work that way. It is impossible to do it that way.

    Hi,
    I have a Oracle 7.3.3 Server running on a SCO OpenSever 5.0.5 and a Oracle 8i Client 8.1.6.0.0 on a RedHat Linux 6.2.
When I try to connect from the client to the server by issue command "sqlplus user@test", it responses me "Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-03113". But when I run "netasst" to test the connection, it says the connection was sucessful.
Can anyone help? Here are my configuration files:

    )

    Hi,
I don't have a 64 bit instance, but maybe another test will be usefull, try to get a connection with sqlplus on the server but via sqlnet like "user/passwd@tnsentry" I think if that also is not possible it is not the 64 bit issue but more that the listener itself coundn't etsablish a db connection, be aware tnsping is only testing if the listener is running and do not check if the listener is able to connect to the db.
Hope this helps a little to find your real proble ;-), Olaf

  • Syclo : Error in connecting Work Manager Client with Agentry Server

    Hi,
Can somebody please shed some light on work manager client-server connections? I have downloaded the "SAP_WORK_MANAGER_BY_SYCLO_5.2" package from market place and set up the Work Manager server. It can successfully connect to the SAP back-end. Environment variables are correctly set too. However, I'm failing to connect to the Work Manager server from the Work Manager clients. I have tried from the Win32 & Android clients both.
For Win32 client, the error I'm getting is:
For Android, I can't even see the server instance, although it's running (it shows up while attempting to connect from Win32). Error:
When I attempt to connect from Work Manager client to the server, it asks for username/password and for Android client it asks for Agentry user id and password. Aren't these username/password of the server where my Work Manager (Agentry) server is installed?
Also, the "Agentry Development Server" which has been set to run as a service runs with Administrative privileges.
    I followed this: http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SAPMOB/Agentry+error+Client+Receiving+RFC+ERROR+LOGON+FAILURE+incomplete+logon+Data+when+connecting+to+server
It didn't help. Please let me know where I'm going wrong?

I haven't yet installed ATE and tested out any application. I just want my connections to be perfect, first.
I have a question. Are the credentials used to connect Work Manager client to the server, same as the SAP backend credentials or are they the credentials of the host on which the Work Manager server is installed?
I have tried logging in using the SAP credentials also. But that results in error too.
These credentials are valid for SAP backend and successfully logs onto it and also responds correctly to connectTest.bat. However, I think this error is logical because these are the credentials for SAP backend and not the server where Work Manager server is hosted.

  • Connected Lync Server - change between pool and FE servers

    Hi There,
We have found out that when taking "Configuration Information" (you know: Ctrl + Right Click Lync icon beside of the clock) from the Lync client it is for some users one of the Lync front end servers, and for other users it could be the pool's FQDN. But
then, after some day, it could be also the FE's FQDN for those who had pool's FQDN.
When I look the tracing logs I noticed the following line:
SIP/2.0 301 Redirect request to Home Server
This happening after the client has negotiated with the pool's FQDN at first.
I would like to know more about this as it seems that our Live Meeting clients are unable to handle this kind issue.
We have HLB in use because of the legacy clients.
So is it so, that when the HLB direct the connection into the correct home server or the FE where the focus service has seen the user session at last time, there are no troubles. But when it by some reason direct you into different FE of the pool, that server
redirect the session into correct server and bypass the HLB?
I have tested this with the Live Meeting client so, that I have added the FE's IP address and pool's FQDN into host file. This way I have by passed the HLB and the Live Meeting has been working fine. If I add IP from some other FE server, the LM wont working.
Also, is there way to check from the server what is user's session home server?
    Petri

    Petri,
I encountered similar issue last week. After consulting with my good friend Kevin Peters a.k.a. "the ocsguy", turned that upon first sign-in, Lync client will cash some parameters, including Home Server. The moment first (home) server becomes available,
Lync client will attempt to sing-in to it, no matter what the real home server is.
The only way to resolve this would be to exit Lync and bomb the user's (Lync) profile found in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Communicator and sign in again.

  • Possible to use scanner over network (without sane server)?

    Hi,
I'm completely new to the subject of printers and scanners.
My configuration is the following: I got a HP OfficeJet 6500 in the basement, which is connected to a network switch, which my laptop (and a router and several other computers) is connected to.
Thanks to CUPS, printing is no problem. I got it to work within no more than 10 minutes (YEAH! I bet no Windows user could have done that faster and easier!)
Now I'm trying to get the scanner function to work.
My question is this: is it possible to use that scanner in the basement with my laptop and NO ADDITIONAL sane server directly connected to it?
Do I need a scan server which is DIRECTLY connected to the scanner (e.g. via USB)?
The only information I found on that topic was how to access a working scan server over the network, but this is NOT what I want to do.
Thanks for helping me with this.

  • Is it possible to run a mdf database without SQL Server

I deployed a setup of windows application which have a .mdf database file included with this setup. I
want to install it to another machine where I don't want to install sql server. Is it possible to run the application?

    Hi Santosh,
According to your description, you want to deploy an application including a mdf file without installing SQL Server in another machine.
Every database has three types of files: primary data files, secondary data files and transaction log files. The primary data file contains the startup information for the database and points to the other files in the database. User data and objects can
be stored in this file or in secondary data files. Every database has one primary data file. The recommended file name extension for primary data files is .mdf. For more information, please refer to this link:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189563.aspx.
When we want to open and read a mdf file, we should attach it to SQL Server, just as Shanky_621 mentioned. The important thing is that you should find out the mdf file is created by which version of SQL Server. Usually, it’s not possible to attach a mdf
file from higher version to lower version because of compatibility problem. If you really want to do so , you can generate scripts of SSMS then to use SSIS. For more information, please refer to this link:
    http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2810/how-to-migrate-a-sql-server-database-to-a-lower-version/.

  • Trying to connect to DA Clients using SCCM Server through IPHTTPS DA Connections

    Hello,
I have been working on this for some time now. I opened up a ticket with Microsoft to help us setup or DA Server, and they were able to get it setup. However, SCCM server tools (Remote Control) would not to the Client. We found a few articles
stating that this was a firewall issue on the clients and we needed to open a few ports with Edge Transversal. We did so. I am able to RDP in to clients, but only from DA server. My SCCM server still cannot connect.
I think the overall issue is not Firewall related, however.  I think it has to do with ipv6. DA uses IPv6 for clients. My internal network is ipv4. Do I have to erect a IPv6 DHCP scope in my environment for my internal SCCM Server to see the DA Clients?

    Hi,
If you want a host located on your internal network to communicate with A DirectAccess client IPv6 will be required from end to end. If your SCCM server is not ISATAP client you must setup a Jumpbox configured as an ISATAP client of the ISATAP server (your
DA Gateway internal network card). Have a look at these blog posts :

  • Leopard Clients Take 10 Minutes to Connect to Tiger 10.4.11 Server

I have a single Tiger server OS X 10.4.11, on a LAN with 5 Tiger Clients and 2 Leopard clients, all with up-to-date patches.
My problem is, that ALL of the Tiger clients can access any of the server shares almost instantaneously, but when I try to connect a Leopard client the the server, it initially takes a minimum of 10 minutes! If I just click on the server <as displayed on the Finder SHARED tab>, the connection eventually fails. However, if I click on the "Connect as" button, after about 10 minutes, I get the user/password login, and the Leopard client connects immediately, and all the data on all the share points are accessible.
But, if I don't actually mount a share point (i.e. see a the Network drive icon on the desktop), and use finder column mode to navigate through the shares, if I click on a local drive in the same finder window, I have to go through the whole 10 minute wait again before I see the user/password login.
    So my question:
Why is it taking a minimum of 10 minutes for the Leopard clients to connect, where as the Tiger clients connect immediately?
So, if anyone can help me trouble shoot or resolve the server settings so that the Leo clients can connect as quickly as the Tiger clients, I would be extremely grateful.
BTW - I followed the setup instructions precisely as per the Linda.com *+Mac OS X Server v10.4 Tiger Essential Training+* CD.
    TIA
    Gary

    launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist
user should be root if sent from ARD, prepend 'sudo' (without quotes) if in Terminal.app or if you're using an admin username from ARD. This turns off Bonjour.
Also, in WGM, look at each individual user account and see if the 'Primary Group ID' is listed in the 'Other Groups' list. If it's not, click the '+' sign and drag the user's primary group into the 'Other Groups' list and then save. You can 'shift-click' and select groups of users and add the group to them all at once if they are all in the same groups.
    Access:
    Authentication=Standard
Change the access to 'Any Method'. If your clients are all bound to the OD master and the sharepoints are listed in the directory (meaning Kerberos SSO works for all clients and users), the clients will try Kerberos first and anything else -like DHX authentication- if that fails. Also, if you are managing your clients with MCX you should have those shares mounting before log-in -meaning at startup- using guest access or at login with the username/pass.

  • Unable to connect to ARD client

I'm running the Admin from an Xserve running 10.5.6, and the client is on a MacBook Pro 17", also running 10.5.6. I used to be able to connect to the client without any issues, but the last time I did so, I initiated a reboot of the client while screen sharing via ARD from the server. When the client came back online, I was no longer able to use screen sharing from the server, whether by ARD or the screen sharing that's built in to Leopard. The client and the server are in separate VLANs, and I'm still able to use screen sharing via ARD from the server to a Mac Pro within the same VLAN as the MBP, and can even use screen sharing from the Mac Pro to the MBP. I've tried trashing the prefs on the client, to no avail. Anyone have an idea how to resolve this short of rebuilding the MBP? Both server and clients are running ARD 3.2.2.

Thanks Dave. Yes, I completely removed all the elements listed there before reinstalling. The only thing I didn't do was reboot the machine in-between. I checked logs and found no crash log for ARD. Presuming I looked in the right place: /private/var/log/crashreporter.log and /Library/Logs/CrashReporter
There was one entry from December 8th in the crashreporter.log but no subsequent file in the second location where it was supposedly written.
I can hook up a monitor and access directly, it is just that I have to make an appointment with our IT guy to let me in the data center where it resides. I was hoping to avoid that. I'm reluctant to reinstall via ssh after removal. If something did happen that crashed the machine, I would rather be at the data center so I can fix it directly. I suppose that will be my next step: to go there and do a removal/reinstall directly.
Thanks for you help. Let me know if you think of anything else.
I suppose that is the next thing to try:
