Possible to connect wirelessly while in the car???

can i connect to any airport that my ibook detects while on the move? if so, how? cingular-motorola-ameritech have no idea how to help me!

I don't know if I'm understanding you correctly, but I don't think you can because you'd be moving too fast to connect and stay connected because the range of the network doesn't really go that far ( 150 ft.?). I guess you could join a network if you're not moving though.

  • What's best way to be connected wireless when on the road?

How can my MacBookPro and/or my PC portable be connected wireless to the web when I'm away from home? I have both computers networked via an Airport Extreme router and a cable modem (Comcast in Philadelphia). I have excellent wireless connections anywhere in my house and even out of doors in the immediate area. But how can I be connected wireless elsewhere in the city? Would an Airport Express router be useful?

While away from home, you will need to find and connect to a Wi-Fi network or else subscribe to Verizon or Sprint EVDO service and install an EVDO card or modem on your notebook PC.
It's hard for me to imagine you toting around your Mac Pro!

  • Is it Possible to Preview Sound While Scrubbing the Timeline Using Hotkeys?

If I have a sound in my timeline, I can scrub through the timeline by dragging the red box and it will preview the sound that plays on every frame. However, I have hotkeys set to scrub through my timeline (, & .), and when I use them, the sound does not in fact preview. Is there a way to set up my hotkeys so the sound will in fact preview?

    Hello,
I don't believe there is a way to view images in the files
    panel.
However, there's a quick way to see them if you're using
    Windows.
Select your image folder in the Files Panel.
    Right click and choose "Explore".
It opens a window where you can see all the images in that
    folder.
It's much faster than scrolling through the assets, clicking
    the file names
and reading the paths to know where they are.
This is very handy whether you have image folders in
    different directories
(for organization and cleaner img src paths in the pages
    within the
directory) or if you just dump them all in a folder in the
    root.
On my wishlist: Hover over the image name in the files panel
    and a small
box, like a tool tip, displays the image.
    Maybe someday.
    Take care,
    Tim

  • Ipod nano battery life while in the car

    Hi,
I have a Nissan Sentra and for whatever reason, the stereo has an audio in jack. So using a regular stereo cable, I hooked up my fully charged nano to this input. For some reason, the battery only lasted about 1.5-2 hours (instead of what it normally gives me, which is about 10 hours).
Is it possible that the car stereo input can draw more current from the ipod than usual? If so, will this hurt the battery in the long run?
As a side note, the temperature in the car was neither too hot nor too cold to affect the battery (Februrary in Los Angeles).
    Thanks.
    ipod nano   Windows XP Pro

Well, it should use the battery, as I do not have any car adapter that plugs into the ipod. I just have a standard 1/8 inch phone jack cable to connect the output of the ipod to the car, nothing connected to the power.

  • Why is my music stopping and starting, or siri popping up while in the car

I play my music out of the headphone jack to the car stereo, and when charging it will randomly start and stop the music if in music app, or otherwise activate siri.
I have had this problem on and off, through all 3 of my iphone 5 that I have had. This is really distracting while driving to constantly hit play, or dismiss siri. It doesn't seem to do it when not charging, I have had multiple lightning cables, Multiple car chargers, and multiple vehicles, multiple iPhones, to try to figure out why,
Please tell me something else to get it working, as I drive all day and use gps all the time so I can't escape charging it.

kindly goto settings---Music--- Shake to Shuffle = OFF
    Sound Check = OFF

    Hi,
Please confirm the ports below are allowed.
    Site Server --> SQL Server
During the installation of a site that will use a remote SQL Server to host the site database, you must open the following ports between the site server and the SQL Server:

  • IS it possible to connect 2 minis at the same time

    Hi Folks,
-This is a repost of one I posted earlier in the wrong group -
My kids jut bought their iPod mini. I set up an account for each one (Tiger, mac mini, 512 mb, airport extreme) and they can sync and use their iPod fine. My question: is it possible to leave the 2 iPods connected to their own usb 2., cable for recharging, at the same time, while I am using my own account.
I am asking before trying because I do not want to mess things up in their user account or iTunes library.

I can absolutely assure you they will be just fine. To test it out I have my 4GB mini, my wife's 4GB mini, and just cause I have it my 1GB shuffle all connected right now and they are all fine and I have not received any warning or error messages and they all show up in my iTunes just fine as well.

  • Is it possible to connect to Drives with the same name simultaneously on Windows?

    Hello
I have used Adobe Drive to create two connections to two different servers which both have the same setup:
Server one: Adobe Drive webservice which is connected to a database called "DatabaseA"
Server two: Adobe Drive webservice which is connected to a database called "DatabaseA"
Both databases are called "DatabaseA", the servers are not connected to the same database.
I can add both servers as a Drive in Adobe Drive but I can't seem to manage to connect to them simultaneously on Windows while is does on Mac.
Are there any restrictions for this setup on Windows?
    Sincerely
    Matthias

on Windows, you can't mount two drives using AD, this is a limitation, we may support that in the future releases, thanks for your patience

  • Is it possible to connect an iMac to the internet but not to the network?

    Hello,
I volunteered to purchase an iMac for our company. This huge company maintains a huge windows-only network environment and IT does not support any macs (nor do they want to have them on the network).
Hence, since we really need this machine to be a mac and not a PC I had to promise to set it up as a stand-alone machine and to get anti-virus protection (as users will be coming in with their jump drives etc). At least for the latter reason (regular updates of virus definitions must be possible) we'd like to have it connected to the internet.
How would I escape the dilemma that as soon as I'd hook it up via ethernet, it would of course get internet but at the same time would see all other machines on the network? (it will sure do so as I had tried it out with some other machine running on the same OS)
Is there a way to configure Snow Leopard to allow for internet but not network access?
Does it make sense at all (for security reasons that is)?
    thank you very much,
    HD

Is there a way to configure Snow Leopard to allow for internet but not network access?
Well, 'internet' is 'network access' so at one level your question makes no sense.
If, on the other hand, what you want to do is segregate your Mac from the other machines then that's a different issue. There are numerous ways of doing that, but most would involve some level of interaction with the network administrators. Given their ana^H^H^H attitude towards Macs that may be an issue.
The best way would be to setup a separate VLAN for the Mac. This will create a separate logical network within the company network with only this Mac and the network router in it. No PC would see the Mac, and the Mac wouldn't be scarred by seeing all those PCs. This cannot be done without buy-in from the network admins, though.
A step down from that would be to use one PC in the network as a gateway to the rest of the network. The Mac would talk to this PC, and the PC would pass the data out to the rest of the network. This would require admin rights on the PC, though, which you may or may not have (I've seen a lot of corporate networks… :: shudder ::)
The last option would be to setup an entirely separate internet connection for the Mac but there are logistical issues there, too.
My advice: Buy a dozen Krispy Kremes for the network guys and sweet talk them into building you a VLAN.

  • Is it possible to charge an iphone from the car USB music input port?

Do I need to use the power port to chage my new iphone or can it be done through the usb port for music.  I got a "may operate at low capacity message" on the screen - or somehting like that.
    thanks for your help

2/3 or what you'll use the iPhone with will give you the optimized message.  Just ignore it.  If the battery looks like it's charging, it's charging.  When I plug into my Acura TL I get that message, the battery charges, and everything works just like it should including my Phone with calls.  No damage will be done to your phone.

  • I want to connect the ipod directly to the car 's speakers without any amplifiers, is there any danger to burn the ipod?

I want to connect the ipod directly to the car 's speakers without any amplifiers, is there any danger to burn the ipod?

No, but it will not work. The iPod does not have an amplifier in it that is powerful enough to drive the speakers in your car.
So, do you have a stereo in the car, either factory fitted or one you have had fitted after it came out of the factory? If you do, check to see if the car's stereo either has a dedicated input for an iPod or an auxilary (aux input) socket.
Some modern cars (for example, my 2006 model Mazda 3) have stereos that can be fitted with iPod connectors. I paid to have one fitted to my Mazda's factory-fitted stereo. So now, I connect my iPod to the car's stereo via a dock connector and I have limited control of the iPod from the car's steering wheel. Some cars have more sophisticted control than mine does.
Alternatively, if the car's stereo has an Aux input socket, you only need to buy a headphone-to-headphone lead and connect from the iPod's headphone socket to the Aux input.
If you don't have either of those options, another method is to use a transmitter. These small radio transmitters are connected into the headphone socket of the iPod and then transmit the audio (like radio) so that you can tune your car's radio to the same frequency as the transmitter. You control the iPod as you do when using headphones. The sound quality will porbably not be as good as the dedicated dock connector method, but it's reasonable.

  • My wife's iphone 4s connects to the car bluetooth but handsfree doesn't work.

This used to work fine.  She can make a call by dialing a number on the cars touch screen, but the call only comes through on the phone.
If I connect my 3GS to the car then it works perfectly - sound comes through the speakers and the microphone in the car is active.
What did she do to turn this off and how can we turn it back on again?
    We have tried:
    - Unpairing and re-pairing the phone
    - Telling the iPhone to forget this device
    - Turing off Siri
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

In the end I tried a full reset (press and hold the top button and front button for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo shows).  Then, after re-pairing, everything was back to how it should be.
I thought I would post that here in case anyone has the same problem because I didn't find an answer in my searches.

  • Unable to connect wirelessly to the Internet

I have a Linksys WAG200G connected via ethernet cable to an Apple Base Station.
I can connect wirelessly to the Base Station (as it appears in the Airport Menu Bar) but I'm unable to connect to the Internet.
I can, however, connect to the Internet via my iPhone so it must be something to with the MBP.
I've run disk permissions but still nothing. I've also attempted to connect wirelessly direct to the Linksys Router and that also works okay.

Why do you need the Apple Base Station? The WAG200G is a modem/router. Just connect to it and you should be able to connect to the internet. Connecting to 2 routers has them fighting for giving out IP addresses. Yes you can connect to both but you must disable one of them in their function to provide IP addresses.

  • Out of no where, will not connect wirelessly.

I just purchased a Windows 8 pc. However, I take such good care of my techie things I still have an old Toshiba laptop about 8 years old, maybe a little less that runs just great, it's just the technolgy was getting a little behind. It's the old style "tablet" that has the swivel screen and was considered "heavy" accord to our standards today.
The Toshiba Satellite (circa 2005) laptop is an XP with all the updates and service packs. I keep it lean and clean with Advanced System Care, have for months with no problem. It was always used to connect wirelessly.
About the middle of February I switced from Verizon slow DSL to Comcast because we have no other choice for a faster speed. No FIOS. But, I've come back a full 180 to Verizon. However I did get a new modem, the latest advances. It's a D-Link ADSL2+  (DSL2750B)  Supposed to run 3 to 6 times faster than the old Verizon modem I had. When I first connected to the DSL I turned this laptop on, connected wirelessly and it was there great going! I was even hitting almost the top speed I am provisioned for wireless. The modem is only 2 feet away but still. I turned if off, turned my attention back to the new Windows 8 machine for a day couple of days
Then I wanted to go back and check the Toshiba XP  and revel in it's great performance on this new modem .... drat!!  It detects all local stations, even of course mine, but when I try to connect it tries but fails and jumps to a neighbors DSL. I can however connect with the Ethernet cord.
I've been using this Toshiba Tablet for months with a USB wireless adapter just fine that a friend gave me. In fact either the internal wireless adapter and the USB worked with not a problem but tests seemed to show his gift of the adapter was a little faster, so I use it exclusively.
So neither wireless adapter, internal or USB will connect to my modem. I even tried pressing the WPS button on the modem, the one that's lets someone near log on without a password.
So there it is. Can anyone have a clue why this worked at the first and now won't?  Also, all other pc's, including a netbook with XP and a new small android tablet are connecting no problem. It's the Toshiba laptop alone that for some reason ...
out of no where, will not connect wirelessly. Is there an easy fix than uninstalling drivers?  But why would both adapters get a corrupted driver at the same time?  I hope there is help here.  Thanks so much for reading this and consdering my situation.  Jack  ":-D

Since the computer can connect with the neighbor's router, I don't think there is a problem with wireless connection on the computer. So it has to be some configuration or settings problem with the new modem. I would check the encryption of the new modem. If the computer can see the modem, but not connect, my thinking is that the encryption is blocking the connection. Temporarily disable the encryption on the new modem and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't, you may want to check the advanced settings on the modem and compare the IP settings on the computers that work versus the one that doesn't.
