Possible to CONVERT CLIPS in order to match COMPRESSION rates?

I'm working with a sequence that has mismatched compression rates for my source material....
75% of my material is 8-bit uncompressed, that's also my sequence setting....however, I've had to import other material that's not 8-bit and, of course, requires rendering in the sequence...
Any way to convert this new material to 8-bit (or any other compression) that will allow me to use it in my sequence without rendering?
I think I know the answer, hoping that maybe someone out there has found a work-around.
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Thanks, StudioX....
I was able to convert it to 8-bit using my Compressor.....I don't have QT pro....
Dang thing's taking so long to convert (it's a 90:00 film), that it's almost worth just rendering the clips I'll end up using rather than doing the entire film....
It doesn't usually occur to me that I have to go outside the fcp application to tweek files....
Thanks again....

  • Component allocation in production order not match that in routing

    Hi
My problem is that the operation allocated to a component in production order does not match that assigned in routing.  For example, component A in the routing (CA03, tab CompAlloc) is allocated to operation 0050, but when we convert a planned order to a production order, component A got allocated to a different operation, say 0020.  I have no idea how that happened.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Lin-Lin Li

    Lin,
One possibility might be, you might be having multiple BOMs for that FG.
The alternative which is assigned in the routing might be different from the alternative read in the order.
    Check & revert.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Need to put HD clips in SD sequence without aliasing, any way to do this without converting clips to ProRes?

Editing a 1080p project shot with Canon 5DMkii.
Have a 1080p H.264 sequence that I planned to change to ProRes when all finished, before exporting to make a DVD.
Many shots have problems, and the only way to get around them is to reframe.
I figured, no problem, DVD video is SD, so I have 600+ pixels of frame-height to play with.
Now I have a rough cut and I have put some clips into a sequence preset to 720x405.
Unfortunately, when the original clips are anything other than 100% of their 1920x1080 size, it’s aliased as heck.
EXCEPT when you convert the original clip to ProRes.
I didn’t convert to ProRes before editing because it quintuples the size (the project has 45GB of footage and my internal 1TB HD has limited space), plus on this project the small difference in final-product quality that converting before editing brings wouldn’t matter.
I really do need to reframe many of the shots, and I wouldn’t terribly terribly mind converting to ProRes now, except that when you do, Compressor adds “ProRes…” to the new clip name, so you couldn’t just reconnect the already-edited sequence with the newly converted clips (or could you)?
    So,
Can the downsizing of HD clips in an SD sequence be done without aliasing?
If not, can a whole sequence (15 minutes) be reconnected to clips to clips that
have the “Apple prores 444 hq” added to their name? (I tried and the converted clip is grayed out, can’t select it)
       3.  If not, can the whole 45GB of footage be converted to ProRes, but keep original names unchanged?
If none of the above is possible, any other solution?
    Thank you very much

That is a non-standard sequence setting. SD in NTSC land isn't 16:9.  It is 4:3 anamorphic.  720x486...anamorphic (squeezed).
Editing H.264 straight from the camera is wrought with errors. Besides the sluggishness of it, the non-RT playback...exporting has all sorts of issues.  Not exporting proper sections of footage, not exporting the full sequence (the tail might get cut off), loss of sync upon export...much more.  All of those issues have been mentioned on various FCP forums.  H.264 is not a codec FCP 7 deals with well at all.
Converting to ProRes before editing is your only way to ensure vary little issues.  And converting to ProRes 422 is recommended.  Not HQ...not 4444.  Your footage will not see any benefit from those formats, even though they sound more impressive. All you will get is larger files.  Heck, since you are going to DVD, ProRes LT would be the optimal choice.  Even if you went to BluRay, ProRes LT would be fine for that format.  H.264 is an 8-bit format...ProRes LT or 422 will get it to 10-bit, and allow for better grading.  But ZERO benefit will be had with HQ or 4444...those are for other uses...with higher end formats.
Not enough space? Get another drive.  Internal SATA, if you have a MacPro...are 2TB for under $150.  You can get an external 2TB for $200-$300.
    3. Yes...use MPEG STREAMCLIP to convert the footage to ProRes.  422 or LT are recommended.  Then you can reconnect, but you will need to make a new sequence that is ProRes...not H.264.

  • Is there any provesion to convert  multiple planned order to one PR

    hi,,
i want to know is there any provesion to convert multiple planned orders to one PR .let it may create as different line item in PR. if is there please let me know
    thanks in advance
    regards
    madan

    Hi madan,
i dont think there is any way of clubbing multiple planned orders into single PR.  Like Taj suggested, you could decrease the number of planned order created thro MRP run by working on different strategies on your lot sizing key / procedure.
Also, i am assuming here that you want to club the planned orders of a single material into a single PR and also it is no way related to different account assignments.
The other way possibly u could do it is, do a Z programme and modify your MD15 transaction.  This idea is bit vague, possibly the forum could build on it.

  • Confused about how imovie converted clips on import

So, I brought a bunch of movies into iMovie, which were saved as h.264 (bit rate 5000), in a 1280 X 720 size, with the .m4v file extension. Dragged them into iMovie events. Then, after all the clips were brought in, I looked at the files in the events folders, and some of them had been converted to: AIC codec with a bit rate of 36,336. The most confusing aspect of this is that only some of the clips were converted, while others remain in their original format, even though they were all brought in together. There's a tremendous difference in file size. The question then is: why were some clips converted and other clips not converted?

    Hi
A Wild Suggestion - By not using iMovie'08 to 11
You want a DVD and as good as possibly I guess then iM'08 to 11 are not tools of choice as Your miniDV tapes are interlaced SD-Video and non of them can in any way I know of Export over to iDVD this but only every second line = Less quality
If You use - iMovie HD6 - then (Not Share to iDVD - but)
    • close iMovie when done and import the Movie Project (icon with a blac Star on it) into iDVD. Now iDVD will render and does this So Much Better
    • AND - You import Your miniDV tapes in sequence - same as it/they was recorded.

  • Default PR Type when convert from Planned Order

    Hi all,
How can I default my PR Type when convert from Planned Order after MRP run. This can done via MRP Group control but how to go about controlling via Planned Order profile?
Which planned object type and planned order profile to be used? assuming that i need my planned to be output at LA type and convert to NB1 PR type instead of the default NB PR type?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Andrew

    Hi,
The system determines the document type from the stettings u are making in "planned order Profile" in Customising for MRP. There u define the order type, the procurement key and the special procurement key and also the account assignment category. So based on the procurement key and the special procurement key maintained in the Marterial master, the document type is selected.
Production > Materials Requirement Planning > Procurement Proposals > Planned Order > Define order profile
Choose the planned order type - NB1 Within this you specify the P req doc type to be used.
Through MRP group and the different PR document type for MRP generated PR is possible only if you assign the document type to MRP group in the MRP configuration.
    Please try and come back.

  • Is possible create PO from maintenance order?

From IW31 I can create a PR, and then PO in reference to PR.
Is possible create directly PO from maintenance order? how?
    thx for attention

    Hi Paolo,
It is not possible to create a purchase order directly from a maintenance work order. The standard SAP process is as follows:
Create a component for external procurement on the work order - this results in the creation of a purchase requisition. The purchase requisition is then processed by the purchasing officer - the source of supply is assigned and the purchase requisition is then converted into a purchase order. If the component referenced a material master, the material may be specified on a contract/source list. In this case, the vendor and the price can be automatically deteremined during PO creation. If the material isn't on contract however, the purchasing officer may need to manually assign the correct vendor details and the price.
The assumption is that the maintenance personnel are not purchasing experts - they just place a request for the product, and manual intervention is required from the appropriate purchasing expert within the company before this request can be sent to an external vendor.

  • Is it possible to create a planned order without profit center?

    Dear All,
We would like to create a dummy planned order which is not converted to production order.
So, we don't want to register material master fields as much as possible.
When we select work scheduling view in a material master,
    the error occurs.
The error is "The field Profit Center is defined as a required field; it does not contain an entry".
Is it possible to change this requirement to option?
    Best regards,
    Nakashima

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Please check the following:
    1. Go to OMSR. Click on 'Field Name' (position) button and provide MARC-PRCTR. You will find a selection group assigned to it in the right (e.g. 211). Click on the green arrow to the right.
    2. Here you can see the influencing field references and the property of the field accordingly. It may be a case that this setting has been configured at transaction level. So, in your test system, once make the entry 'Opt. Entry' for all the places where it has been entered as 'Required entry'.
Please test accordingly, and consult your MM person. There are many online resources available on material master screen settings. Please search in the SCN MM space also.

  • Possible to convert autonomous AP to LWAPP via CLI?

    Hi,
Probably a silly question but was wondering why it is not possible to convert an autonomous AP to LWAPP by using CLI commands?
For example we have over 300 access points to convert and thought about using Linux to automate the task but seems there is only a windows conversion utility.
    Cheers,
    - Trevor

    Hi Trevor,
You can convert AP to LWAP using CLI but this is entirely dependent on the model of AP you're dealing with. 1230, for example, requires the conversion tool. 1130, 1240 and 1250 can be converted using CLI. Here it is ...
    Requirements:
    • Image file (The recovery file has the prefix “rcv” in the image name, such as c1200-rcvk9w7-tar.122-15.JA.tar);
    • AP is connected to the Wireless LAN Controller; and
    • AP can ping the TFTP server where the image is located.
    Procedure
    1. Copy the recovery file to the AP using the following command:
    archive tar /x tftp:/// flash:
    2. Let the AP boot on this image:
    boot system flash://.bin
    3. Reboot the AP.
    OPTIONAL
    • DO NOT ALLOW THE AP TO JOIN THE WIRELESS LAN CONTROLLER IN ORDER TO USE THE OPTIONAL COMMANDS BELOW.
    • IF POSSIBLE, type the following commands:
     clear lwapp private-config (This will bring the AP to factory default.);
 clear lwapp ap ip address
     clear lwapp ap hostname
 clear lwapp ap controller ip address
    4. Let the AP connect to the Wireless LAN controller.
    OPTIONAL
If an AP refuses to join the Wireless LAN Controller, type the following command from the AP:
    lwapp ap controller ip address

    Hi Gurus,
I followed your instructions but the error is as it is only.
Actually when I am converting Plnd order to Production Order in stock requirement list of Configurable material, its not converting.
the error i am getting is " You cannot make an assignment to make to order stock"
and also i am getting the following information - the component cannot be allocated to an individual stock because make to order production and engineer to order production cannot be executed with this order
a possible cause is that you are trying to create an order with reference to a sales order / project where an account assignment to a sales order / project is not allowed in the settlement profile that is assigned to the chosen order type this is inconsistent
Procedure : Choose another Order type.
Please guide what i have to do for solving the problem.

Is it possible to convert a Direct Access server ( Windows 2012 server) residing in ESX 5.1 to a Hyper V version ( Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter) by a "normal" conversion process?  The optimal result is that all the configuration of the Direct

    Thanks.

hey .. funny how expert opinions vary ... i have a handfull of IT and software RAID experts who disagree with you ... in my case, i'd rather get rid of it ... ( however i still have to find a solution to clone my boot drive that works flawlessly with all my software ... )
anyways ... how exactly do i go about splitting the RAID, to make sure i don't mess it up ....
    1. restart from CD
    2. Delete the mirrored RAID set
    3. remove one of the HDs with the raid slice on it (i'll keep it as a backup 4 the moment just in case)
    4. restart from the remaining slice disc
    5. ... ?
do i need to do anything specific ... ? what about the name of the Volume .. for the moment my startup disk (the RAID) is called 'BootRAID' ... the slices are called 'RAID Slice (disk0s2)' and 'RAID Slice (disk1s2)' .. in order for everything to work properly, don't i have to rename the new startup disk ?
    i'm scared ...

  • Is it possible to convert an app from 12c to 11g?

    I am using both 11.1.2.4 and 12.1.2.0.
If I have an app built with 12.1.2.0, which does not include any 12c specific features, is it possible to convert it to 11.1.2.4?
I am asking because I have a Development environment that is 12c, but a Production environment that is 11g and I am not sure we will be able to upgrade the Production environment
    Thanks in advance..

It's possible but not an easy task. As 12c uses newer stuff you have to test everything with great care. You might find some things you have to rebuild add they won't work in 11.1.2.4.0 (e.g. components which are only available in 12c. If you read the what's new doc for 12c and you find something you have used, prepare to rebuild this part.
First thing to try ids to open the project in 11.1.2.4.0 and see if you can compile and run the app.

  • Is it possible to convert text captions to Smart Shapes?

    Hello,
I have a collegue that is using Cp 5 to record software simulations which then need to be brought into Cp6. The problem is that our standards (for software simulations) employ Smart Shape call outs (not the Cp 5.5 and earlier text captions).
Is it possible to convert these text captions into our themed Smart Shapes either automatically inside Captivate 6 or by modifying the content within the CPTx file?
    Thank you,
    Shawn

    Hello Lilybiri,
As always you are awesome! :-)
    >I don't believe an automatic switch will be possible, because smart shapes are totally different objects.
I understand because there are a huge variety of shapes in either format. But I suspect that it should be easy to convert a text caption from any style to one specified smart shape style.
Actually, I am asking before the simulations get started. So nothing has been done yet. I am unsure what you are suggesting I should do in the preferences under Cp 5.5. Are you suggesting that there is a way to convert 'some format' of text callouts, in a Cp5.5 demonstration simulation, to Smart Shapes in Cp6?
    >but since you already have created the simulations, it has to be done manually. Hoping for you that
    >someone has a bright idea, but I do not see one immediately.
For anyone else in this situation, it would be handy to have a solution (rather than painstakingly convert each manually).
I am wondering if this might be a relatively easy search/replace within one of the xml files within the CPTx file. I'm going to look at this tonight.
    Thanks for your assist.

Is it possible to create a Purchase order wrt a Scheduling agreement?

    Hi,
It is not possible to create PO wrt a Scheduling Agreement. Po is basically a formal instruction given to the supplier by the purchasing dept. It is non-binding. Delivery of the goods is not mandatory for a PO. However, in the case of SA, we create SA
and maintain SA Schedule lines (ME38) with reference to SA. The agreement created with vendor is binding and fixed.
    Hope it clarifies.
