Possible to copy recovery set image to HD for storage?

I’m about to create a recovery set for my new Spectre ultrabook on a flash drive.  I’d like to then copy the recovery image to a drive on another PC so I can free up the flash drive for other use.  Is this doable?  I.e., if I need to restore, will I be able to copy the image back to the flash drive and have it work?  Are any special tricks involved?

Hi,
Not that simple, copy won't work. By the way, the Flash drive for Recovery is write protected.
Regards.

  • Set image colour settings for multiple images

In my workflow I place (Adobe)RGB images into InDesign. PDF export takes care of the RGB to CMYK conversion (convert to destination with preserve numbers).
However this uses the default rendering intent for every conversion: relative colorimetric.
For images, i want to use perceptual.
Is there a way to quickly select all images and change the rendering intent?
All the images have the same ojbect style. Unfortunately i could not find a way to couple the rendering intent to the object style.

You can do it it via Assign Profiles...
It can also be scripted, something like this AppleScript:
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS6"
        tell active document
            set imgs to all graphics
repeat with x from 1 to count imgs
if class of item x of imgs is image then
                    try
set image rendering intent of item x of imgs to perceptual
                    end try
                end if
            end repeat
        end tell
    end tell

  • Will the 'back up to this computer' setting in iTunes allow for storage of PDF files, etc. (non-iBooks content) on my computer for later retrieval, if need be?

Up until now, I have had the 'back up to iCloud' setting enabled in iTunes for my iOS devices. However, when I recently had to restore my devices 'as new', I discovered through the process that the only 'iBooks' app data that is stored in the cloud are basically iTunes book and Kindle(?) book data. None of the PDFs that I pulled off the web and stored in iBooks were backed up to iCloud.
If I change this setting to 'back up to my computer' will iTunes go ahead and back up those other PDFs, etc. on to my Mac or will I, going forward, have to make sure and back up all those items onto my Mac manually and individually?
*Note: I know about Docs in The Cloud with Pages and iWork on iOS and I use these services as well. This question, however is centering around iBooks and iCloud.

Syncing with your computer will delete data from his phone but you should be able to restore his backup.
    iOS: How to back up
However, he won't be able to play music purchased under a different iTunes account than the one his phone is signed into.  He can change the account to yours, but any apps he purchased under his account will no longer update, and any purchases he makes will go on your account.

  • Setting up time capsule for storage and printer, but not internet

Hi all. I am a new mac user and got time capsule yesterday. I am only using it as storage and USB printer; not for an internet/network use. During setup, I didn't see any option to configure it this way. I did a backup successfully, but the amber light blinks continuously....I am assuming because there's no ethernet/modem? But if I don't intend to use it for that, is it normal for it to always blink amber? Should I find a way to tell it that it's not to be used for that? Or do I just ignore it and live with the blinking light? Thanks.

Paul's suggestion did work - thank you!
However, my anal retentive personality still wonders why there's not a more intuitve phase in the setup process that allows the user to clearly define what they're using it for....i.e. rather than manually override an "error".
Of course, i do have new questions, too -
If the capsule is connected to a computer both wirelessly and with ethernet, which is the preferred/default connection used?
The setup tells me to update firmware, but i haven't yet and it seems to be running fine....any recommendations?

  • Is it possible to change the automatically set image on the new iMovie Theater title screen?

I made a few movies on the new iMovies 2013 then uploaded into iTheater. I love the software and its ease of use. However, I noticed iTheater automatically sets the title image. Similar to youtube, iTheater probably uses the video mid point image as default. Is it possible to change the set image on iTheater?

    Unfortunately, no.

  • Copy keyword sets across libraries?

Is is possible to copy a set of keywords from one library to another? I recently created a new library and would like to copy all of my keywords from the old library to the new...
    Thanks

As a new user, I figured out I can export the keywords to a plain text file that has the keywords that show in the HUD as tab indented text.
Now, I've exported a Keyword file, added new names in a text editor (Smultron) and then re-imported Keywords. Worked great. I then thought I'd take it one step further and sort my existing keywords into a logical order
Originally added in HUD before realizing I wanted them in a different order

Which I was able to change in the text file, but when importing it kept them in the order as entered in the HUD. Drag/drop in the HUD didn't seem to work either. Any suggestions?

  • Time Machine: "Unable to copy the recovery set"

Several were related to files associated with GarageBand, which I don't use, so I excluded them from backup via Time Machine Preferences.  I still received a few (as above), but ultimately I see "Backup Completed Successfully".  However, I still have an error message saying "Unable to copy the recovery set", so I'm wondering if the backup was not actually successful.

Switching off the iPhoto screen saver and trashing its plist file stopped the directory corruption issue. Even so, backups would not work.
Thinking it might be a WD issue, I went to the Western Digital support site and found a firmware update (designed to eliminate hardware ID conflicts when running two WD external HDs) and a newer "drive manager" (formerly called button manager). Installing the firmware update on my backup destination and the drive manager software seems to have eliminated the problem. I've been backing up over the hub successfully for almost 24 hours. Cross your fingers.

  • Is it possible to copy a piece of image of a certain shape?

    Hi,
Im trying to get some information in the JAVA API about retrieving
a part of a Graphic Screen in a specific shape.
Basically, I want to do this
    a) Create a Line2D.Double object.
    b) Copy the Graphic Screen "piece" that corresponds to this Line2.Double object on this screen.
    c) Draw a black line over the space that was coppied.
    d) When the position of the line changes, just put back the "coppied piece of image" in its place and repeat the operation.
Basically I want just to save processing time, by just manipulating the pixels affected by the moving object (in this case, the line, which is drawn from a previouly chosen point on the screen).
Sorry if it seems silly. If you have some information on how to do this, or how to get similar resultas, please help me. The problem that remains in my approach is basically that: IF it is possible to copy a specific piece of graphics directly from the screen, how can I do that?

I think Ill try to create another Graphics object to save the "piece" of Graphics
(by using a clip) and use this object to put it back again.
    Thanks

  • Create a Recovery Set?

Still have the message 'Create a Recovery Set' under Updates & Tuneups.  My PC seems to be working OK.  Is it necessary to create a recovery set as the techs where I bought the Notebook said "no need as it's built in"?
Have a Pavilion Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Product No. F6C64PA#ABG.
Not sure what to do, if IT IS necessary am I best to use DVD-RW or stick?  Will it take up much disc space if any?
Sorry, am a newby with all this.

It would be very wise to create a usb recovery flash drive.
It is  the copy of the OS and drivers that you paid for and the best method to recover the operating system to a new hard disk if the original one fails.
The techs at the place where you bought it gave you poor advice.
I highly recommend that you go with the usb recovery media. Sandisk flash drives don't work. Don't use flash drives with the Windows 8 logo on them.
Follow the instructions on the following HP web document to create a recovery image.

  • Request: Recovery HD image to upload

I delete Recovery HD and now just have option to reinstall with Lion Internet Recovery.
Lion Recovery Disk Assistant can't make a new Recovery HD without functional Recovery HD.
I try to start Lion Internet Recovery and then copy downloaded disk image, but can't make possible. Something restrict this option.
So, no more ideas? Just one. Please save a Recovery HD image of MacBook Air 11" Mid-2011 and upload for all us who need this.
You can save a raw image of some pendrive with recovery too with dd command at terminal command line:
    $ dd if=/dev/disk1s3 of=recovery.img

    Hi icce cage,
To change the Windows lock screen we can use this API:

  • Setting azure portal icon for new images

According to the Azure Service Management REST API, one should be able to set the icon to be displayed in the portal using the IconUri and SmallIconUri tags as described here.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/jj157198.aspx
I sent this command with these values set to the URLs for publicly available png icon files and created a new image.  The image was created successfully and no errors were returned, however the icons displayed are still the default windows icons.
Is this feature disabled somehow or is there some other specification that needs to be set or addressed?
I could continue to try endless possibilities (like different sized icons or URL locations) but it seems like this should have worked according to the API specification since no other restrictions were stated.
Could someone please tell me how to get this to work?
    Bruce

    Hi
    Sorry for mis-understand your question:
I think this IconURI feature disabled.
Because in latest Azure Management Class libraries, this class libraries is based on latest Azure REST API.
    You can't find IconUri property.

  • HT1414 is it possible to copy backup taken from my old iphone to the new one?

is it possible to copy backup taken from my old iphone to the new one?

Sure you can, as long as you still have the old backup.
I have restored my iDevices (iPod Touches, iPads and iPhone) from backups a number of times. I've done this long after the devices were setup. Sometimes I restore from a backup because I have tweaked a setting and it screwed something up on my device so I restored from a backup in order to restore the previous "non-tweaked" setting back to the device.

  • Setting Image Metadata

I've been asked how to set metadata on images with MacOS. The particular data that needs to be set is the author, title and subject; alas, there are at least three places this information can be set in an image - EXIF, XMP and IPTC all have these (or equivalent) fields. However, I can't find a way of setting any of them with Finder - I'm not a Mac user; I was trying it out in a computer shop! I've done some research and its possible to use a command-line tool ("sips" ISTR); but that seems a little hairy to suggest to regular users. I've also looked at XnView which can set the IPTC area for individual images - but not the subject, and only one image at a time.
    -Andrew

However, I can't find a way of setting any of them with Finder
that's because there isn't one. EXIF data can be set by image editing application like Photoshop or Grpahics converter.
