Possible to disable Lync 2013 AVMCU?

Hi there,
Is it possible to disable the Lync 2013 AVMCU, so only audio and video point-to-point?
-How to procede?
Hopefully still possible to do group IM if user wants.
RGDS Trond

You can disable both Audio & Video by Disabling both AllowIPAudio & AllowIPVideo.
Set-CsConferencingPolicy gloabl -AllowIPAudio $False -AllowIPVideo $False
Or you can go to Control Panel and go to Conferencing TAB and adjust the Conferencing Policies from there.

  • Is it possible to disable 'Lync 2013' options inside of Outlook 2010? If so, how?

I would like to disable/eliminate everything Lync 2013 related inside of my Outlook 2010.  I want to disassociate all its relations with Outlook, but keep it everywhere else.
More specifically, in Outlook, I'd like to keep the original (pre-Lync) option of knowing where persons are (i.e. 'Free', 'Busy until 4:00pm', etc). This option is shown when you open a new email, add a recipient, and hover over their name. It would
normally say things like 'Busy until 4:00pm' or 'Free'. Now it just says their Lync location (ex. 'Presence Unknown' since most of the company does not have Lync), and I need it to go back to the original setting.
I also dislike the 'Frequent Contacts' option, so if that could go away, that'd be great.
Things I've already tried so far:
In Outlook: Disabling the Outlook Lync Add-in 'Lync Meeting Add-in'
    In Lync:
Personal/Personal Information Manager - Changing drop-down to NONE (from Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Outlook)
Personal/Location - Unchecking 'Share my location info with other programs I use'
Contacts List - Unchecking 'Contact Status'
Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi Kara526,
Outlook reads the following registry key in order to display presence information within Outlook.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IM Providers
    REG_SZ: DefaultIMApp
The default value is “Lync”, please delete
    “Lync” and restart outlook.
    Best regards,

  • How to Disable Lync 2013 Web app link in Lync meeting

I want disable Lync 2013 Web App , because it is  confuse WinXP user(no sound suuport) , I reference the topic(Disable Lync Web App link) but not work in 2013 version. How can I disable that?

I assume you're referring to this link:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/33fbfa3f-e7dd-43a7-85f4-43c280e17d4f/disable-lync-web-app-link?forum=ocsconferencing
That was an unsupported but clever hack that we developed by the user asking the question.   There is not supported method for doing this in Lync 2013.
If it's an audio only meeting, I'd suggest removing the URL completely from each individual the meeting invite before sending it out.  If it's not, then the WinXP user would either need Lync, which they would then automatically join with anyway, or
they wouldn't in which case sending them the meeting invite wouldn't help.

  • Disable Lync 2013 Client and Exchange 2010 Integration

Is it possible to disable integration to Exchange 2010 from a Lync 2013 client?  I found a key that works for Lync 2010 by setting HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Communicator\PersonalContactStoreOverride to 1.  That does not seem to do anything
to a Lync 2013 client, nor have I been able to find a solution to disable it via Registry/GPO.  Some things I have found seem to indicate that key does is not used by a Lync 2013 client but that is somewhat speculation.  Can someone tell me if there
is a key to disable this connectivity and disable it like what the key above does for 2010?  Thank you!

Create a new-csclientpolicyentry -name "PersonalContactStoreOverride" -value "1" and assign it to a Client Policy

  • Not able to disable Lync 2013 autostart.

I ran into a strange problem with Lync 2013 in a customer environment. The Lync client automatic startup on login cannot be disabled, and I think I have checked all the possible reasons already..
Deleting the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Run\Lync registry key disables the autostart temporarily, and so does removing the autostart checkmark in Lync client options. However, on next restart of the Lync client it adds the registry key again. The registry
key is added immediately when the Lync client is started, not sure if it happens when the client starts or when it signs in.
All the usual suspects are of course ruled out already: There are no group policies that would touch the registry key, only Lync-related group policy setting is disabling the first run wizard of the client. As far as I know, the Lync server-side client policies
shouldn't affect autostart behaviour either? And by the way, they should be in their default settings.
Software version is Lync 2013 with February 2013 cumulative updates installed (and possibly with some newer updates, but at least Feb2013 CU level) and the workstation operating system is Windows 7.
Any ideas? And yes, there are reasons to disable the autostart, related to 3rd party VOIP software which has to be started before Lync to reserve HID devices only to that program with HID device sharing disabled. Of course also ways to make Lync client totally
ignore HID devices (handsets) would be welcome. :)

  • Possible to Have Lync 2013 MSP Installer With Credentials?

So I am working on a silent lync installer to push out to all my clients, using a custom .MSP file. I am wondering is it possible to include their logged in credentials to the installer? So when they first open Lync after the install, it just logs right
in, without needing to change the Sign-in Address.
Currently it defaults to "[email protected]"

    Hi,
Base on my Knowledge, it is impossible to achieve it with the .MSP file.

  • Lync 2013 and SQL 2012 on the same server

    Hi,
I'm in the process of migrating Lync 2010 to Lync 2013.  I have a clean install of Windows Server 2012 R2.  Is it possible to install Lync 2013 and SQL 2012 on the same server or does it have to be on separate servers.
    Thanks

Configure Separated SQL Server to use in an Enterprise deployment of Lync Server. Standard Edition servers use a collocated SQL Server Express version of SQL Server that is right sized for the workloads of a Standard Edition server.

  • Lync 2013 client installation using SCCM

    Hi everyone,
I have been performed Office 2013 installation in my domain. For this puprpose, I used SCCM 2007 R3.
At the beginning I customized this installation using OCT. I have excluded Lync from my Office 2013 distribution package, because we use Communicator Server 2007. Afterwards, I found that it is possible to use Lync 2013 with OCS 2007: http://www.technipages.com/lync-2013-fix-cannot-sign-in-because-the-server-version-is-incompatible-with-microsoft-lync-error.html
How can I silently deploy Lync on workstations, which already have received Office 2013 without Lync? If I simply  try  to add Lync feature in my package using OCT, silent installation stops on "Add/remove/repair components..." (which,
we, of course, cannot see during a silent setup).

You could utilize Config.xml to deploy Lync client. This will make installation silently.

    Hi Juke,
Thanks for you answer. But actually not all is clear for me. In this article, I can see this:
"By default, the Config.xml file that is stored in the core product folder (for example, \product.WW) directs Setup to install that product. For example, the Config.xml file in the following folder installs Lync 2013:
    \\server\share\Lync15\Lync.WW \Config.xml"
But in my Office 2013 installation folder, the Lync.WW folder does not exist.
Should I create it (and Config.xml too) manually? Can I remove other folders like Excel, Word from Office2013 installation folder?

  • Lync 2013 - consuming 180 ringing responses from a forked request

Is it possible to configure Lync 2013 to only send a single 180/183 ringing back upstream after an INVITE to Lync triggers multiple INVITEs to Lync subscriber endpoints that each end up generating a 180/183 message.
In case of simultaneous ring, I want Lync to consume all these 180s to avoid unnecessary messaging back to the originator INVITE'ing Lync that is behind a SBC.
It seems to be acting as a forking proxy rather than b2bua.

    Hi,
    Agree with Holger Bunkradt.
Lync Server determines which endpoint is currently most active for that user. For example, a user might be Away at two of the three endpoints, so the server sends the message only to the endpoint where the user is Available. If the server is unable to determine
which state is most active, it sends the message to the endpoint it determines most likely active and waits to see if the user acknowledges the toast at any location. If the user opens the toast at an endpoint, the server removes the message from the other
endpoints. If an endpoint doesn’t acknowledge the message, the server leaves the message at only one location which is the most likely endpoint.

  • Lync 2013 disabled user can still login.

Ok. so we have this weird behavior and it's been driving us crazy for over a week. We have a lync 2013 deployment on a forest with several child domains.<o:p></o:p>
In the middle of the deployment, we noticed that our changes to the user characteristics were not being updated. Eg: we enable or disable
enterprise voice, no changes. We change the sip URI, log out, login, nothing, no changes. And we noticed that if we disable the user from Lync server (from the lync controlpanel), the user can still login. We assumed some lag on AD replication, but no, a user
can still login after a week!<o:p></o:p>
The deployment is a standard Lync 2013, single FE, with a single Edge server. We have enabled Enterprise voice, changes to the enterprise voice routes are
working, if we enable or disable a route we can see it on the client, but changes on the dialplan are not reflected.<o:p></o:p>
I can’t find any reference to this behavior. I know if I disable a user from the AD he can still signing into Lync, but this is different, we are disabling
the user from Lync server. We even removed the user completely from Lync and he can still use it as normal.<o:p></o:p>
We checked the user using adsiedit and the msrtcsip-userenabled is set to false, we even voided the certificate via lync console. Still able to use it.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.
    Fabio Ricci.

    Hi,
Please check if there is any error message on FE Server when the issue happen.
It seems to be the issue of CMS replication.
Please check CMS replication status by running Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus.
If CMS replication not update to the latest version, run Invoke-CsManagementStoreReplication.
If the issue persists, please check Lync Server update, make sure Lync Server update to the latest version, and then test again.

  • Disable ICE (Interactive Connectivity Establishment) protocol in Lync 2013 via ClientPolicy

    Hi,
is the DisableICE clientpolicy parameter still valid in Lync 2013, or it has been deprecated since Lync 2010?
    Lync 2010: its listed here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398300%28v=ocs.14%29.aspx
Lync 2013: its missing from here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398300%28v=ocs.15%29.aspx
AND, its missing from the list of deprecated powershell inventory:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205204.aspx
So is it a documentation mistake, or the parameter is still working? If docu mistake, I request it to be corrected ASAP. Its unacceptable to do reliable design based on incompleted vendor documentation!

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I would also recommend to add a similar section into Technet to highlight the ADDED powershell commands / parameters since Lync Server 2013 RTM:
    http://tomtalks.uk/2014/08/lync-server-2013-powershell-cmdlet-updates-and-additions-since-rtm
(This gentleman has already done the homework for MS)
Also it would be great to release an updated .CHM version of the online help at least every 6 months. The current one is from April 2014, so its quite old considering the multiple updates Technet has received since that time. Its  more
convenient to browse content in the .CHM file, then browse on Technet. The only time the .CHM is crap, when I have to search for content, as the search capability of the .CHM reader app in Windows is the terrible I have ever seen regarding full text search.

  • Is it possible to archive user presence change in Lync 2013?

    Best Regards, Edward Rhoades II

I don't believe this is archived (but someone feel free to correct me)
    Based on the Technet article
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204900.aspx the following information is archived:
    Peer-to-peer instant messages
Conferences (meetings), which are multiparty instant messages
Conference content, including uploaded content (for example, handouts) and event-related content (for example, joining, leaving, uploading sharing, and changes in visibility)
Whiteboards and polls shared during a conference
Also looking at some of the sample reports, I can't see an option for it: http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/Sample-Lync-Server-12fb1c4c

  • Is it possible Lync 2013 to be installed on a Domain Controller?

I run a small infrastructure with two servers only,
Both Domain Controllers with Windows 2008 R2 and the one is a file server too. I would like to know if I can install Lync 2013 Standard Server to any of them? I have not found a clear answer anywhere as I found for 2010.

    Hi,
    Agree with Michael,
You can't install Lync server on DC. You should use another server.
Here is a similar may help you, it is for Lync server 2010 but similar for Lync server 2013:

  • Lync 2013. There was a problem connecting with the Exchange. Unable to load the magazine discussions.

Lync 2013. There was a problem connecting with the Exchange. Unable to load the magazine discussions.
Installed Lync Server Standart 2013, client PC MS Office 2013.
As the mail system - Lotus Notes Domino Server and Lotus Notes client, respectively.
Exchange is not installed at all.
    question:
1 What is the message: "There was a problem connecting with Exchange. Unable to load the magazine discussions." and how it is fraught?
    2 How can I fix this message? Cleaning the C: \ Users \% UserName% \ AppData \ Local \ Microsoft \ Office \ 15.0 \ Lync \ does not help
3 What are the disadvantages when using Lync Server Standart 2013 without Exchange? In principle, I put for Lync Exchange?
4 What are the advantages when using Lync Server Standart 2013 with Exchange?
5 Is it possible to work simultaneously Lync Server Standart 2013 + Exchange + Lotus Notes
    Thank you.

    1) That sounds like a strange translation.  But basically, it wants to connect to Exchange and it's complaining.
    2) You can attempt to go to Tools->Options->Personal and set Personal Information Manager to None, and in Lync Management Shell run set-csclientpolicy
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398300.aspx with the following options:
    DisableCalendarPresence $True
    DisableEmailComparisonCheck $True
    EnableExchangeContactSync $False
There may be more, I've never tried to completely disable Exchange features from Lync.
    3) No conferencing plugin for meeting invites, no automatic presence management based upon your calendar, no searching your Outlook contacts for new contacts, no voicemail, no conversation history,no unified contact store, and more:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj688098.aspx
    4) This is just #3 in reverse :)
    5) Depends on your goals, but the experience wouldn't be great.  You'd want to keep your contacts and calendar in Exchange and your email in Notes.  It would be confusing to your users.

  • Locking federation to specfic domains in Lync 2013

    Hello,
Once federation is enabled, Is there a way to lock Lync 2013 federation to a number of selected domains, where only these domains are able to contact me and any other domains that I'm not federated to are not?
Is this functionality supported out of the box?
    Thanks!

Yes this is possible out of the box. you just specify what domains are allowed (Whitelisted)
From within Lync Control Panel select "Federation & External Access", "SIP Federated Domains" and then create the domains you want to allow in there.
From within Access Edge Configuration, uncheck "Enable Partner Domain Discovery" (which disables Open Federation)
