Possible to disable password prompt when installing aps?

Trying out a Macbook pro to decide if I want to keep it or not. I own an IT company and am a PC user, so this is a new environment for me.
When I install programs, it prompts me for authentication to do so. This is as annoying in this OS as it was in Windows, but at least I know where to disable it in windows. So far, I have been unable to find it in this OS and the security options in preferences has nothing at all for this option.
Thanks for any assistance to the noob.
John

Hi John;
When I worked for IBM, I can't remember how many times users would be migrated from Winders boxes to Unix ones because their need for power had increased. Once migrated over to Unix they started to griping about the password prompt of Unix. They would carry on like it was the end of the world. After I told them, my manager told them and my manager told their manager that it was a feature of Unix, they would finally stop griping. I doubt that they were happy but at least they stopped bugging me.
I would usually suggest they move back to Winders but everyone of them felt that the Unix box was far more powerful so they remained with it. They never seemed satisfied enough with the extra power of the Unix workstation to overlook the password prompt. I really find that surprising.

There is no BIOS in OS X. There is only the EFI stored in ROM that is not user modifiable. OS X is probably checking Bay 0 for the boot drive since that is where it should be. It won't check the Tempo drive since it is treated like an external drive. I suggest you open Startup Disk preferences to see if the Tempo device is selected as the boot device. If it isn't, then select it. That will probably shave off a few seconds in the startup time.

  • Opted out of password mgmnt when installing Firefox; now I need it. How to add the feature?

When installing Firefox, there was a list of items to install. I UNchecked the last one (for password mgmt) because I was going to use a different password mgr. The different password mgr (LastPass) wants the Firefox mgr to be installed. How do I add that feature I UNchecked? It does not seem to be in the "add-on" list.
I tried to reinstall Firefox and got the message that I already have the latest version. While writing this info it occurred to me that I might UNinstall Firefox and reinstall it. Or is there a better way?

  • How to prevent the regular password prompts when watching a movie on my MacBook Air?

    Hello everyone.
I recently started renting movies from the iTunes store and watched them on my MacBook Air since I don't have an appleTV. (In fact on my TV connected via HDMI cable to the MacBook but I think that doesn't change the cause)
Now every now and then a automatic password prompt kicks in overlaying the movie, so I have to stand up each time and type in the administrator password in the middle of the movie. This happens maybe about every 30-45 mins. Needless to say this is extremely unpleasant when watching a movie. Unfortunately I cannot tell you which programm causes the prompt since I always close all other programms other than iTunes.
Is there a way to temporarily prevent all automatic password prompts?
I hope you can help me,
    Greetings jonezdotcom

This is taken from Mac Help.  It should guide you in solving your issue.
Changing the way users log in
You can require users to enter a password to log in to your computer, or you can turn on automatic login, which automatically logs in a specified user each time the computer starts up.
Automatic login is useful if you’re the only person who uses your computer, and the computer is always in a safe and secure place. If you have more than one user account on your computer, or if you’re concerned about the security of information on your computer, you should require users to log in with a password. Automatic login is not available for accounts that are using FileVault encryption.
If you require users to log in, you can change what they see in the login window. You can show a list of users with a picture next to each name and a place to enter the password, or require users to enter both their user name and password.
To change the way users log in:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Accounts.
    Open Accounts preferences
Click the lock icon to unlock it, and then type an administrator name and password.
    Click Login Options.
    Do one of the following:
To require users to log in whenever the computer starts up, choose Off from the “Automatic login” pop-up menu.
To have the computer automatically log in to a particular account when the computer starts up, choose the account from the “Automatic login” pop-up menu, enter an administrator password, and click OK.
IMPORTANT: Automatic login allows anyone to get immediate access to your computer simply by restarting it. If you turn on automatic login, make sure the computer doesn’t automatically log in to an account with administrator privileges.
Next to the ”Display login window as,” select how you want the login window to appear:
To have users select an account from a list in the login window, select “List of users.”
To require users to type their user account name and password, select “Name and password.”
To show each user’s password hint, select the “Show password hints” checkbox.
If you turn on automatic login for yourself, the computer opens your account when it starts up. If you log out, other users see a login window to log in to their user accounts.
The Login Options pane of Accounts preferences
Use the Login Options pane of Accounts preferences to change the way the login window behaves to be more secure or set up the way users will log in to their accounts
    PREFERENCE EXPLANATION
    Automatic login
To have the computer automatically log in to an account at startup, choose the account from the pop-up menu. This is less secure than requiring users to log in, since it allows anyone to use the computer just by turning it on.
To require users to select an account and enter a password to log in, choose Off from the pop-up menu.
Automatic login is not available for accounts that are using FileVault encryption.
    Display login window as
Select “List of users” to have users choose their accounts from a list in the login window.
Select “Name and password” to require users to type their name and password in the login window.

  • Why doesn't my password work when installing AFP?

I am trying to install the new Adobe Flash Player and my password is not working, but I can sign into my Adobe account. I have reset my password and it still works for the account.

It's not.... your Adobe password, but your Operating System password, required to install software.

  • Password prompt when I connect

I just setup my wireless router and I setup a key to connect but it only asked me once for the password when I hit the connect option. Now every time I hit connect it does not ask me for the password I set. What do I have to do for every time I hit the connect option it prompts me for the password I set?

Most wireless utility automatically saves a profile so that the computer can connect to the wireless network everytime you are in range.
Dont worry its a feature on your computer.
you can keep deleting the profile or prefered network on the computer so that it prompts you all the time
    hope i helped

  • Can I Disable Password Lock When iPod is Docked in Digital Alarm Clock?

Hi. I bought a Jensen Docking Digital Clock Radio for iPod and set it up today. When I dock it on the Jensen and set the alarm to turn on and play a song, the password makes the alarm just buzz. I cannot find a way to keep the iPod unlocked -- is there a way to do so? I tried removing the password and cannot using Settings. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Matt,
I understand your concern, although I wasn’t able to find a way to disable or change these embedded Windows messages.
With Account Lockout policy enabled, the risk that accounts being hacked has been reduced a lot. In addition, we can monitor security logs to determine whether hacking behaviors exist or not.

  • Why Icloud password prompt when it is already correct

I was told reset my password for security reason with Apple, so I went ti iforgot.apple.com and changed my password through the usual reseting your password screens on the apple website.
Since the change, everytime I refresh my emails,  I am being prompted with a message from my icloud account saying "Cannot Get Mail the user name or password for "icloud" is incorrect"  But the truth is the details in my settings are correct and I have put the new password in along with the correct appleid which I haven't had to change anyway because it was only the password I have to update, I have even tried this with my old password just in case these my apple id account is not in sync with my icloud account.
I am forever being prompted and would like some assistance as to how I can resolve this, for the time being I have disabled icloud mail to avoid getting this annoying prompt.
    Please help.

Thanks, but that was one of the first things I did, I deleted the account on my iphone and then added the account back after.
    Thanks for the suggestion though.

  • Password request when installing apps

Hi all, I am trying to install some apps like splashtop or adobe flash player, and I am requested a password. I assume it's the appleID password, but actually macOS tells me that password is wrong. which pwd could be, or is there anything else wrong?
    thanks for any help
    Valter

If you can't remember the admin password you set when the system was first set up, then boot up using your MacOS install disk (insert the disk and hold the C key down while starting up) and then go to the Utilities menu. You'll find the option to change the password there.

  • Multiple password prompts when importing distributed form responses

I have a two page form that I've distributed to my local server. When I test the form and send it back, it all works as it's supposed to. The problem comes in when I try to access my password protected _responses file. I have no problem accessing the empty portfolio with the password I've given it; however when it starts to import form submissions, it prompts me for the portfolio password 4 times for each individual form. What am I doing wrong?!

    Hi,
In this scenario, I would suggest you to add multiple lines of text in the fields and limit the character count.
Selecting this will display the whole text in the field and user will not have any issues while printing the form.

  • Windows Security user name/password prompt when trying to remote access personal cloud storage device

I have 2TB WD Book Live drive setup at home and is working fine, including remote accessing by internet. However using a colleague's computer at the office recently, her computer would always prompt me for Windows Security username and password. I've tried
keying her admin user name/password and well as the router's admin/admin combinations and still doesn't allow me to access the cloud drive properly. However I have had no problem accessing the same drive remotely using other colleagues computers.
The exact message prompt as follows: Windows Security. The server 192.168.1.1 is asking for your user name and password. The server reports that it is from index.htm. WARNING: Your user name and password will be sent using basic authentication on
    a connection that isn't secure.
Please help me understand the problem and its solution. Thank you.

    Hi,
The IP address 192.168.1.1 is your Router server address, isn't it? I doubt there should some limition in your colleague's system. Please check it. Also you can try to disable security software for test to access your cloud.
The problem isn't your cloud server Authorization.

  • Possible Messages that will prompt when we do CO54 and COR2 to TECO the PO

    Hi,
We have an issue for a customize program for TECOing process order.  This transaction calls transaction CO54 (to send messages automatically) and COR2 to TECO the process order.
The error encounteered by the user is "sending message failed" wherein in fact message has already been sent because TECO box has been marked ok.  The error occurs when a user tick the execute button and programs calls the CO54 and CO60 transactions and a message will prompt within the program.  Sending of messages has BDC and we are having a problem checking the possible messages that will cause the sending message failed.  There are two scenarios we have found.  One is when a user is accessing a particular operation in the PI Sheet and another Process Order is being TECOd having the same operation.  Another one is the "sent" message that is triggered once message has been successfully delivered.
Hope you could help us with this.
    Thank you

  • Not getting a password prompt when signing

Sometimes when I go to sign a document, the password box is missing. I'm using Acrobat Pro XI (not Reader). The password box is typically there the first time we sign it, and then after that it sometimes disappears. Once it disappears, it doesn't show up again. help please!

It depends on where you imported your signing certificate. On Windows if you place it in the Windows Store it by default remembers the password and does not ask again. In the process of importing signing certificate into the Windows Store you can select an option to ask you the password always. If you imported your signing certificate into the Acrobat Store, you can control how often you're asked the password.
    1. Go to Edit->Preferences->Signatures->Identities&Trusted Certificates->More and select Digital IDs. "Storage Mechanism" column shows you where your signing certificate is stored.
    2. If it is stored as a "Digital ID file" select "Digital ID Files" and click on the file that contains your signing certificate. There is "Password Timeout" tab on the top of the right panel. When you click it it will ask you for teh password and then present several options that control how often Acrobat/Reader asks you for the password when you sign.
This is the same in Acrobat and Reader.

  • Is it possible to disable security prompts on AT&T BlackBerry Curve???

Hello all. I wrote an SMS application that successfully works on my BlackBerry 8310 (on AT&T Wireless). However, everytime I run the application, I get this annoying security prompt that says, "application <my application> has attempted to access the network. Would you like to allow this?". Is there any way I can get rid of this, as it has become VERY tedious to answer this prompt everytime I run the application. I have already gone into options-->advanced options-->permissions and have set everything to "allow" for my application with no success. I've been reading up on this subject and my first inclination would be to assume that it may not be possible due to AT&T/Cingular locking down the phone via the security domain built into the handset:
However, I have read in some places that people were hacking their j2me_domain_registry.sm file with some limited success. I did not see that anyone did this with a BlackBerry though. Has anyone had any experience or know of a way to achieve this. I don't even know how to go about finding this file on the BlackBerry as all the examples deal with non-GSM (CDMA) phones and they primarily deal with Motorola V3XX series. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You should be able to get rid of this message by enabling firewall. Click on options then security then firewall. Enable and save.
