Possible to do one-time import of Thunderbird address book?

From reading the past 18 months worth of postings, I realize that iPhone communication with Thunderbird is very bad, and it seems to be impossible to sync the Thunderbird address book to the iPhone contacts.
But even if I can't keep them synced, is there a way to do a one-time import of the address book into my iPhone contacts? I can export the address book as a csv text file if that helps. I hate the thought of having to type in all the people in the address book manually, since I have about 100 of them.

Well, you are asking for 100kS at a rate of ~22kS/sec.  That is ~4.5 seconds worth of data that you are asking for from the sound card.  That is what is making your system slow.
I am afraid I do not quite understand what you mean (I am not overly confident about the workings of computers).
Data Acquisition 101.  It takes time to take data.  YOU told the sound card to acquire data at ~22kS/s.  YOU asked for 100k samples each loop iteration.  Therefore YOU asked for 4.5 seconds worth of data each loop iteration.  If you want the iterations to go faster, you need to either 1) increase the sample rate and/or 2) decrease the number of samples you acquire with each read.

I have not tried this yet because I might have an overlap of contact information from thunderbird with that that is in adress book. Will it mix them up?

  • One-time import from external database - best practices/guidance

    Hi everyone,
I was wondering if there was any sort of best practice or guideline on importing content into CQ5 from an external data source.  For example, I'm working on a site that will have a one-time import of existing content.  This content lives in an external database, in a custom schema from a home-grown CMS.  This importer will be run once - it'll connect to the external database, query for existing pages, and create new nodes in CQ5 - and it won't be needed again.
I've been reading up a bit about connecting external databases to CQ (specifically this:http://dev.day.com/content/kb/home/cq5/Development/HowToConfigureSlingDatasource.html), as well as the Feed Importer and Site Importer tools in CQ, but none of it really seems to apply to what I'm doing.  I was wondering if there exists any sort of guidelines for this kind of process.  It seems like something like this would be fairly common, and a requirement in any basic site setup.  For example:
Would I write this as a standalone application that gets executed from the command-line?  If so, how do I integrate that app with all of the OSGi services on the server?  Or,
Do I write it as an OSGi module, or a servlet?  If so, how would you kick off the process? Do I create a jsp that posts to a servlet?
Any docs or writeups that anyone has would be really helpful.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Matt,
the vault file format is just an xml representation of what's in the
repository and the same as the package format. In fact, if you work on
your projects with eclipse and maven instead of crxdelite to do your
work, you will become quite used to that format throughout your project.

  • How to import my AOL address book to Thunderbird

I have just loaded Thunderbird and Firefox and would like to import my address book from AOL

Access your account from the AOL webmail page, click Contacts in the left pane, then click Tools/Export, select LDIF format, save the contacts.ldif file.
In TB, Tools/Import...Address Books... Text file... select the contacts.ldif file, and a "contacts" address book will be added to the TB Address Book.
If you run the import from Address Book/Tools/Import, the imported address book will appear empty, but not after you close and re-open Address Book.

  • Importing folders from Address Book

    Hi all,
I'm new to iPod and am wondering if there is a way to import folders from Address Book. At the moment I've got a long list of names in alphabetical order (some duplicated because they exist in more than one folder).
    Thanks,
    Andrew

You might want to ask for further suggestions in the Mac OS X 10.5 forum, then. Someone there might know how to get the database from Address Book 5 into AB4, if it's even possible.
    Regards.

  • I use an i-pad and my primary account email is aol.  Is there a way to import my aol address book onto my ipad "contacts?"

I am using an ipad and the primary account email is aol.  Is there a way to import my aol address book onto my ipad "contacts" app?

Oops, I found the answer to my question. Great knowledge base! I had originally imported via the automatic popup dialog box that appeared when I installed TB, and didn't absorb at the time that there would be a way to do an import later, after TB install, too, and even for specific parts of OE (address book vs. mail messages, etc.).
I pasted the link to the "Migrate to Thunderbird" page that includes how to migrate just an Address Book from OE, but the following is all that pastes in: 9723729938
I have typed out the link here:

  • Can't Import Outlook Express address book to Pearl 8100

A friend just gave me an AT&T BB Pearl 8100 and I am using it as a phone only with no data plan (it's a company cell phone but they won't pay for a data plan -- I just put my SIM card in the BB).  I am trying to connect to my personal PC with the USB cable and import my OE address book.  I am using Desktop Manager 4.7, and when I try to synch it a window flashes that says "Synchronization Progress - Processing" for about one second, then that disappears and my phone doesn't get updated. Can someone help me?  I searched for this problem prior to posting but can't find this situation.  I dread having to type them one by one -- any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

  • I want to use a Thunderbird address book folder to mail merge into MS Word letter [name, address]. How to?

I recently migrated from Outlook 2010 to Thunderbird. I have contact folders. I publish a newsletter in MS Word. I want to mail merge my newsletter with now a specific contact database [folder] in the Thunderbird address book. So my question is, how to do this?

Unfortunately, the tight and smooth integration you have experienced between Outlook and Word is due to those two products having come from the same Office stable and having been designed from the outset for such interoperability. With Thunderbird coming from a third party author, there's not much incentive for Microsoft to support or encourage interchange of data between Office components and Thunderbird.
If you have Outlook and Word, what advantages do you anticipate in using Thunderbird? (Personally, I do exactly the same because I dislike Outlook and its Ribbon in particular). But I don't have much call for the sort of task you are attempting.
The long and short of it is that you'll probably have to export your TB Address Book to a format that your Word mail merge can use. Since I haven't tried this for myself in a long time, I don't know what Word can use. I'd hope that CSV would fit the bill.
If you are thinking about moving away from Microsoft Office, then you might look at Libre Office, which can, IIRC, use a data source such as Thunderbird's address book as a mail merge source. But this alone may not be a very good reason to move away from tools you know. :-S

  • TS2481 I can't rename a group I imported into my address book?

I can't rename a group I imported into my address book...It just says "last import" and in the menu it is not available to choose....

Have you tried opening Address Book from either the dock or from the Applications folder? Address Book is a separate application (although it works together with Mail), so you can just open it without opening Mail.

  • Importing Mac's Address Book into Print Sho

Can't figure how to import Mac's Address Book into PrintShop's Address Book?
    Thanks

Netscape's Address Book window does not have that option. The Export option is under the Tools menu, but does not give you any options in the Tools menu. Once you select Export, the Export Address Book window opens. This window does have a format option where you can select either LDIF, Comma Separated or Tab Delimited. But it doesn't matter which of those I select, Apple's Address Book and Mail applications are not available for selection.

  • Switcher w/ problems importing MSN email address book

I downloaded ABEE to help with importing my MSN address book to MacMail but it only lists contact names .... no email adresses or other information. Any suggestions to solve this problem?
    Thanks, pbee

    hi pbbe,
    welcome to the forums.
    1) log into hotmail
    2) at the top left of the screen, next to the word "windows live" there is the word hotmail, when you place the cursor over this word a menu will drop down, chose "contacts"
    3) on the left side of the screen there is the word "all contacts" to the left of all contacts there is "manage" click on manage
    4) when you click on manage a drop down menu will appear click on "export"
    5) the page will change, you will be prompted to type in a list of random letters and numbers, do so, then click the "export" button
    6) after step 5, you should be downloading your contacts as a CSV file. open "address book"
    7) back up your address book, just in case the import goose wrong. go to the menu bar
    8) click on the file menu
    9) go to the export option, from the sub menu chose "address book archive"
    10) chose some where to save it and do so
    11) now that you have a backup, import the contacts. go back to the file menu
    12) chose import
13 navigate to the downloaded contacts and click import
you should now have your contacts including your email. But if you don't, you can convert back to your address book backup
