Possible to downgrade software?

I believe the first time I used my iPod nano 6th generation, it had just been updated to the 1.1 software. During the Summer of 2011, before I updated to the 1.2 software in the Fall, I had been able to dock my nano in a powered dock, and keep the watch face backlight on all the time (I don't recall if I could do this without being docked). I stopped using it because i mobed the dock to my bedroom and the clock was too bright at night sleep with it next to the bed. I recently relocated e dock and wanted to use the always-on functionality of the clock, but I cannot get it to stay on for more than a few seconds at a time. Therefore I must assume it has something to do with the 1.2 software update.
So, is there anyway to go back to the 1.1 software? Honestly 1.2 brought nothing to the nano that I use or need, so I'm just as happy to go back to the 1.1 in order to keep the backlight on all the time on the clock face.

I see that the older firmware versions can be downloaded from various sites around the web. Holding option down in iTunes while selecting restore allows you to restore older software versions.

Nope, you are out of luck as far as downgrading goes. I'd try to reload the device one more time.
    Could you please explain?
Use the Nokia Software updater to reinstall the software. When you go to install it tells you that you have the current latest version, and if you want to reinstall it. It downloads in most cases a fresh copy of the firmware and reinstalls it.
I have no problems with the latest firmware on mine. It might also be worth resetting it to factory defaults as well.

  • Is it possible to downgrade to 10.7.1 from Apple's latest abortion?

My encrypted external hard drives will no longer mount and I had to wipe my drive in my desktop to reinstall Lion. I have read a few threads and know that there is a conflict between PGP and 10.7.2, however, I have removed all components associated with PGP and never used PGP on my external drives.  My question is two-fold; does anyone have work-around to access my external HDDs or, short of that, is it possible to downgrade to Lion version 10.7.1 or earlier?
    Thanks in advance.

Wait for update from PGP to work with 10.7.2 is the only answer besides uses hardware based encrypted external drives instead of software ones.
The computer thinks it's wrtiting and reading from a ordinary external drive.
and Apple certainly has been having a lot of miscarriages lately, everyhting from firmware and up, it's like someone decided to puke their lunch into a high speed fan to cover the whole office just for giggles.

You cannot downgrade your software. The only way you can downgrade your software is by jailbreaking your device (which can be risky if you dont know what your doing). Remember if you are downgrading by jailbreaking it will void your warranty with Apple - and you could run the risk of disabling your device.
However, im not too sure about the YouTube problem, my only guess is that since it is not an original app that comes with the iOS software.

  • Is it possible to downgrade to 3.0?

Like so many other people, I am suffering from 3.1 software. The phone is extremely unresponsive, so much that it becomes unusable as a phone! Calls time out before I even manage to answer them.
Is it possible to downgrade to 3.0 preserving my data? I tried, and managed to get 3.0 installed again, but then iTunes wouldn't let me restore my backup, saying it is from a newer version of the software. Obviously a phone without my data isn't of much use.
I am stuck and becoming desperate -- 3.1 software made my phone unusable.

    Hi,
If by disaster you mean it behaves like molasses you might try a restore as new.
If you have data in any of the apps you will need to back this up and not just syncing to iTunes. The restore as new does not use a back to get things back on. You will erase the phone then start from scratch putting your apps back on. This lets the system get on the phone first. It seem to make a difference. Mine has been quite stable sine i did this and was very sluggish before.
You will have to reenter any wifi passwords and likely your voice mail pin. You can get that from ATT.
Sync any photos to iphoto too. Be prepared for a fairly long session. I have heard it is worth deleting the download of the 3.1 upgrade and then downloading it again. I did not do this and mine is fine. The procedure for that is on here somewhere.
The problem we are having is due to the memory management of the phone apps or the system. The memory gets low and apps crash. There is a great App for clearing memory. Save rebooting the phone a lot. Memory Info is the name of it. I haven't had to use it much though since I did the restore.
    Hope this helps...

  • Is it possible to downgrade an Early 2011 15" MBP to Snow Leopard?

Is it possible to downgrade an Early 2011 15" MBP (MacBookPro8,2) to Snow Leopard?
The laptop shipped with Lion, and I don't recall whether this model ever even shipped with Snow Leopard.  I figure if it did ship with snow leopard then there is at least a chance that I'd be able to downgrade.  Though, of course, I don't have the disk.
I will check with the apple store guys at some point, but I thought I'd ask here.
    Austin

If you had bought the same model MBP a few weeks earlier you could have received two software licenses - Snow Leopard as shipped, and also a free upgrade to Lion. That being the case, why not call AppleCare  and see if they will "retroactively" give you the same capability by sending you the grey-labeled machine-specific Snow Leopard install disc that originally shipped with your model MBP before it started shipping with Lion.
In this thread the OP requested a Snow Leopard disc for a new iMac that shipped with Lion, and reported the following:
Called Apple and they first said I coul not install SL, a day latter and I received a call from the manager saying that I had gotten the wrong information, so yes, I can install SL. They sending me the grey disk free of charge.
Apple usually charges a nominal fee for replacing a "lost" grey-labeled Install disc. Of course in your situation you are not actually "entitled"  to any disc at all, and the particular person at Apple that you speak with may not be as accommodating. But it can't hurt to ask.

    Dear Farby
didn't really know the rules, thanks for the courtesy.
I tried downgrading with a software, didn't work. But I have seen others claimed that they have done it using some other software. Is it impossible to do so???
and my mobile is Nokia 5230, but after flashing to Belle Refresh, why does it show Nokia C-007 now ??

  • Downgrade software on nokia 6120c

i willl downgrade my nokia 6120c software version to 4 to 3 firewame. is it possible to downgrade my nokia 6120c???

for an end user it is not possible to 'downgrade' the firmware, the only choices you have is to reinstall the current firmware or update your phone with the newest firmware. the nokia care center can do a 'downgrade' but generally it is not advisable and they are not really willing to do so unless you give them a good reason and even then they might deny this services as it is not recommened to do so.

  • MX 800 - Downgrade software version

    Hello,
Is it possible to downgrade the software version of the MX 800 to TC.6.3.
For information, the MX 800 is by default TC 7.1.2.
    Please help.
    Thx

If you go to the MX800 software download page, the listed software versions are the only versions that can be installed on that particular device.  As Jonathan noted, each codec or series of codecs have a specific TC software file number, meaning you can only install the software that matches the file number relevant to the codec you're installing it on.  It's confusing I know, but it's because as codecs evolve, such as OSD interfaces or features change, and not all features will work on all codecs, they need some way to change and/or limit these items across the different platforms.
As Jonathan had suggested, if you want or need to register in H323, you'll have to not us SIP, as the MX800 is single stack only, meaning it can only register using one protocol, not both.

I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums, but you can use Google to find information on how to install an older version of iOS on any iDevice.

  • Is it possible to downgrade to 10.5.5 with the combo updater?

I'm one of the lucky people who no longer have firewire after the 10.5.6 update. I was wondering if it was possible to downgrade to 10.5.5 using the combo updater? There weren't any issues prior to the update and now I can't access my peripherals in OS X. I have boot camp installed and everything works in windows. Also, I've tested the drive on my PowerBook (which still runs Tiger) and everything works fine (DiskWarrior and Disk Utility don't detect any problems). I've re-applied 10.5.6 using the combo updater and I've reset the PRAM, to no avail. At this point I'm fairly certain it's a 10.5.6 issue. So, is it possible to downgrade to 10.5.5?

no. there are no downgrade options in OS X. 10.5.5 combo update will refuse to install if you try. if you don't have a 10.5.5 backup the only way to get back to 10.5.5 is to do an archive and install and then upgrade to 10.5.5 using 10.5.5 combo update.
