Possible to Edit Color Libraries?

Is it possible to permanently edit the cmyk values for a given color in the pms color library? We found a breakdown that gives us a better replication of the spot color than what pantone provides. Would like to have it permanently edited in InDesign so we don't have to remember to do so each time we use it.

Just create your own swatch or tell the printer how you want it mixed.

    Looking for Pre-Rendered Editing / Color Grading Workflow suggestions.
    All my material is rendered via RenderMan, our resolution is 1280x544, and our format is generally .exr in 32 bit space.
    Our editor has been converting over to 32-bit tiffs, and using Apple Intermediate Codec for editing, mostly for speed concerns.
    We need to re-vamp our workflow so that we can edit our footage, and then do color grading of the edit head to tail to smooth the look between scenes. We want to do this in Color, being fed by Final Cut Pro's timeline.
    We want to keep our bit depth as high as possible when coming into Color.
    My question is, does anyone here have any workflow suggestions for doing what I am talking about.
    I wasn't sure if we should just export and EDL from FCP and try to get Color to load our single frames from that. Or if there is a special Quicktime wrapper we should be using, or converting our 32-bit .exr files into some other format more readily available for using in Color?
    Any thoughts would be great, thanks in advance!

    You're not going to get anywhere beyond 10-bit. That's it.
    Try encoding to 10-bit LOG dpx if you need upscale RGB.

  • Non-editable Color for TextInput

    Hi,
    Is it possible to set up, in a CSS, the backgroundColor of a
    readonly text input?
    So whenever it's set to readonly (editable=false) its
    background will automatically
    change to the color set up in the CSS.
    I want to do something like this:
    TextInput{
    theme-color:haloGreen;
    color:#005FA9;
    readonly-color:0xF5F5F5; // or "non-editable-color"
    Cheers,
    Jarrod...

    you must completely fill in the background in a non-opaque color.
    I doubt the 'non-opaque color' part might be a typoI think it is a typo, otherwise, like you, I don't know what they are trying to say.
    Just using setOpaque(true), does NOT make a component opaque. It simply tells the the RepaintManger not to search the ancestor tree to find an opaque component. This makes painting more efficient if it doesn't need to search all the way up to the content pane of the window. By setting the opaque property you are guaranteeing that the component will paint its own background in an opaque color.
    For example a JPanel is opaque and its paintComponent() method will invoke the fillRect(...) method to paint the background whatever color is specified by the setBackground() method.
    So if you do panel.setBackground(Color,RED) this is valid.
    However, if you do panel.setBackground( new Color(255, 0, 0, 128) ); this is invalid because you have set a background with an alpha value that results in a transparent color. In this case you will generally see artifacts in the background of the panel. If you want to do this, then you must also use setOpaque(false), so that the background of the ancestor component is painted first.

    Fixed an incorrect reference from "non-opaque" to "opaque".

  • Is it possible to edit vector art pasted into Pages 4.1?

    Is it possible to edit a vector shape created in Illustrator and pasted into Pages 4.1? I can adjust the transparency, scale it, even put a drop shadow on it, but I can't change the color which is all I want to do.

    It has a drawing tool at the end of the Shapes menu but it is oddball and a little clumsy compared with what Illustrator offers and it only edits Pages' native objects.

  • Edit/Edit Colors/ Convert to CMYK via applecript

    Cant seem to figure this one out.
    In Adobe CC, I am trying to convert every path item of the current document to CMYK using applecript or javascript.
    The equivalent to Edit/Edit Colors/ Convert to CMYK.
    Currently I am using an action but I try to stay away from actions as much as possible.
    Does anyone know how this could be done via applecript, javascript or whatever else?

    Right, I tried this method already but it does not show the dialog box in Adobe Illustrator CC v18. only previous versions.
    Our group all use different versions.  I may just switch to an installer script thats adds the action to Illustrators "Default_Actions.aia"  file since its text based.
    Heres what I'm using now which  is working but I don't like all the hoops it has to jump.
    The action simply writes a new doc to a dummy file on a server & the when script doesn't see then dummy file, it writes, loads the action & deletes the dummy file.
    Then on the next run, the action will write the dummy file for the script to see & skip the loading of a duplicate action.
    And if I change the action, I simply change the name of the action file & dummy file.
    property ACTSET : "Set 1"
    property actbname : "Action 1" --- writes teh PTDF file, then run rest of action
    property PTDF : POSIX file "/Volumes/artserver/1_ASI/spotcheck.ai" as string
    property the_file : PTDF & ACTSET & ".aia" as string
    property the_file2 : POSIX path of PTDF & ACTSET & ".aia" as string
    property spotcheck : {}
    tell application "Adobe Illustrator"
      set spotcheck to ""
      do javascript "app.doScript ('" & actbname & "', '" & ACTSET & "');"
      try
      tell application "Finder" to set spotcheck to file PTDF as string
      end try
      if spotcheck = {} then
      my addaction() --- saves action text to temporary items for the load
      do javascript "app.loadAction (new File('" & the_file2 & "'));"
      do javascript "app.doScript ('" & actbname & "', '" & ACTSET & "');"
      tell application "Finder" to move file the_file to trash
      end if
      tell application "Finder" to move file PTDF to trash
    end tell

  • Edit Edit Colors Convert to Grayscale Not working

    In Ai CS6 when I select all and try to convert to GS nothing seems to happen. I still have a RGB/preview and if I go back to the edit colors menu, convert to cmyk is still grayed out, suggesting that the art is still 4c. Thanks for your help!
    Jon

    jaal,
    Illy refuses to convert RGB to CMYK and CMYK to RGB, therefore the opposite is greyed out.
    So you are in RGB mode.
    Is there any RGB vector artwork that is non grayscale?
    If there is, it may be time for the list.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustrator.html
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Editing Between Libraries Notifications

    In working with 10.1.1. and the new Libraries, I find myself working with assets located in different libraries. Is there any possible way of disabling - turning off - the notification window that keeps popping up and reminding me that I'm editing between libraries. I know this. Okay, so how do I disable it? It's just annoying constantly having to take another step in my work flow and click OK.
    Any suggestions to alleviate this issue in 10.1.1?
    Thanks.

    Select Library 2 and i the Inspector, click on Modify Settings. Click the Media button and choose the location you want in Library 2. Then hit Consolidate. That will create a copy of the original media on drive 2. Test to make sure everything links properly and if you want, you can then delete the original file on drive 1.

  • Conserving black limit on output with Edit Colors

    Hi there,
    I'd like to try and solve a problem I often face when I come to ouput my illustrations..
    Normally, what will do is go into inDesign and look check the black seperations at 300% and if there is too much black present I create a selective colours layer in photoshop and reduce the blacks levels.. but using this technique I find that a lot of the image detail is lost (the blacks become grey and the whole contrast of the image is flattened)
    After searching around I've seen in Photoshop that it's possible to change the colour profile preferences (Edit > Colour) then the drop down next to the CMYK profile and then personalise (I hope this is the correct translation but something to that effect)
    Once I enter the CMYK personalise settings I'm presented with the curves showing the ink limits (the default total ink value is 300%)
    The problem is that once I apply the profile to my saved TIFF and re-import it into inDesign there are still black areas at over 300%.
    Is there a way to limit the black density to 300% using this or another technique ?
    Thanks in advance

    I’m afraid you might be misunderstand some things.
    If by »Edit > Colour« you mean »Edit > Color Settings« that will refer to a subsequent change of Color Mode, for example when changing an RGB-image to CMYK with Image > Mode > CMYK Color.
    If you want to change an image’s profile you should instead use Edit > Convert to Profile.
    But those custom profiles are usually pretty unsatisfactory.
    It would be better to use a decent proper ICC-profile; for the FOGRA standard (relevant in Europe) for example there are versions available with 300% Total Area Coverage.
    But if you work on CMYK files you always risk exceeding the TAC with Blend Modes, Adjustments etc.
    So you might want to consider working in a proper RGB-file and separating a copy at the end or even placing the RGB-image and separating on pdf-Export in Indesign.
    Could you post a sample image?

  • How do I change the color of font in a fillable form in Adobe Reader? How can I check if the writer of the document has given permission to edit color and not just add text?

    How do I change the color of font in a fillable form in Adobe Reader? How can I check if the writer of the document has given permission to edit color and not just add text? Please help! I'm technologically challenged.

    Most forms (99% or more) are created for simple text input, where you cannot change anything.
    The creator of the form could allow Rich Text input (which allows you to change font, text size, color, etc.), but frankly I have never seen such a form, and I wouldn't know how they look.  But I'm sure they would show some kind of controls to alter the text appearance.

    If you have Acrobat Pro Extended that is a PC Product. You've clicked on wrong Forum. Go back to main page the click on Acrobat and choose PC forum. Extend has such features as XML based PDF Forms which Acrobat Pro Mac can't handle.

  • Can't get "Edit Colors" to work in Illustrator CC

    Hi. My boss just added Illustrator CC to my mac.
    I'm not sure why, but I can't get "Edit Colors" to work in Illustrator CC.
    When I select an object and try to reassign colors in the "Edit Colors" menu, the submenus are greyed out.
    It works fine on Illustrator CS5, so I'm not sure what the problem is in CC.
    Is this a bug or just a limitation of the CC trial period?
    Can anyone please help with this?

    OK, so Trial Period isn't the problem? Thanks for that info.
    I'm working with customer supplied files and often have to reassign colors to artwork for different projects.
    I can assign colors with the color panel, but complex designs containing multiple pieces and layers can take for-ev-er to reassign colors that way.
    Like I said, "edit colors" works fine in CS5, so I'm trying to figure out why it's not working in CC.
    Appreciate any help the forum members can provide.

    To answer your specific question "Is it possible to edit a google site using dreamweaver" the answer is NO.  The reason is that Google does not allow uploading of web pagesusing any means such as FTP.  Google provies hundreds of templates to choose from and like you I don't like them at all.
    Microsoft had a free service long time ago that allowed you to upload your own pages but this has been stopped for new customers.  New customers are required to sign up to their Office 365 Service <http://tinyurl.com/bucc6t4> and this costs money.  However, you can build and host a website with a custom domain for your business.using their free software called Microsoft Sharepoint Designer 2010 <http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=16573>.  I believe they also have a 64 bit version to download but I only use 32 bit on my 64 bit systems!!
    Hope this helps.

    Modify the New Document Profile you use the most to reflect what you want it to contain or just make a new document with all the stuff and save it with a distinct name to the New Document Profiles folder in your user profile.

  • Possible to change color depth for Leopard's VNC server?

    I think it is very nice to include vnc server right into Leopard. But one problem, it seems it will only accept connection from clients when it is set to use full colors. This is painfully slow over WAN, any way to change the requirement from the server end?

    Possible to change color depth for Leopard's VNC server?
    Yes you can modify your screen sharing application so that you can adjust the colour depth. However you need to issue a command in the terminal to get this to work.
