Possible to embed video with controls in FM PDF?

I have a very specific end in mind, and I'd like to know from you folks who might have done this before if it's even possible, and if so, the steps to follow to achieve it. Here goes...
I'd like to take an ordinary AVI file, convert it FLV in Media Encoder so it's of a manageable size, bring that into Flash in order to add controls to it (stop, start, pause, etc.), import the SWF file into FrameMaker and export a stand-alone PDF file than includes the video, without needing to reference any external files or servers or anything like that. Just one PDF file that includes the demonstration video and the means to run it.
Right now the show-stopper seems to be it's possible to create a SWF file with controls, OR a SWF file that encorporates an embedded video source, but NOT BOTH at the same time. Anything that enables you to have controls seems to insist on referring to an external file, which I need to avoid.
Then the problem becomes is it even possible to import such a SWF file, with working controls, into FM and thread it through to a PDF file where it will function as such?

Thanks, but I've seen that file before. While it's interesting to learn you can create links below a video to do this, the really ironic thing is that the PDF file contains video presentations making use of the controls that I'm looking to include (see graphic). In fact, it was this very document that got me interested in seeing how to do this in the first place. Now, I might be mistaken, but I don't think this is a solution available inside FrameMaker itself and I'm really after a cross-application procedure from someone who's done this in the past. I appreciate the input, though.

You could do it with an image sequence but AFAIK there’s no support for alpha channels in video.

The current wiki relies on html 4:

Embed tag is not a standard part of html 4 and is new in html 5. html 4 allows the object tag or the iframe tag to perform the external link function. Both object and iframe need to be added to the wiki whitelist for inclusion in the page html.
iframe creates a separate window that allows you to show the page with the video or rss link that you want to include on the wiki page.
object would show up as an separate window as well but has different issues depending on brower.
I have used iframe with good results as an alternative to uploading data to the wiki page.

Is it possible to embed an external control (eg ActiveX) into a Flex app?

I'd like to build an app, and Flex seems to be a good option.
The Flex stuff would be hosted in an application within the Adobe
ActiveX Flash Player. The communication between the hosting
application and the Flex application would be possible via the
ExternalInterface. However, I'd need to embed a special control (in
fact a word processor) in one of the panels of the Flex
application. Is there a way to do it? It could be a browser window
as well.

I am new to flex myself but as musch as i know and if i have
rightly understood your problem than if the control is compatible
to flex ie: written in action script version supported by the flex
version you are using than you can create a library project and add
the action script code to it. now add the flex library project or
the resulting .SWC file to your original project's library build
path. your new control will apear in the custom controls
list

Possible to embed video ?

Hi, I have a couple videos in a shared folder and I imported them in my premiere element 9 project. But someone else changed the path of the videos or changed the name of the folder then I had to relink everyone.
I wonder if there's a way to fully embed the video to the project just like breaking the links and embed the images in Illustrator? Even the source files changed, it wouldn't affect my premiere project?

Is it possible to disable video with VNC?

This may sound strange but I really like my Macbook Pro keyboard/trackpad and I would like to use it simply as a wireless keyboard for my desktop.
I can use Remote Desktop and COTVNC to do this but I would like to disable video data since I'm sitting in front of the desktop monitors when I use it. I'd like do this to get rid of the slight lags when the VNC display autoscrolls.
Has any body else ever had the notion to do this, or know if or how it can be done?

I checked it out and Teleport looks like exactly what I wanted. It supports dual monitors on the controlled system and two finger scrolling vertically and horizontally. COTV doesn't support horizontal two-finger scrolling and vertical scrolling was a little squirrelly, but Teleport does both flawlessly. I'm using it right now without even noticing any differences.

I am not looking for html or pdf converters. I have a pdf and i want to insert an html somewhere in between.

You can save a raw html file to disk and attach it like any other file to your pdf. It will not be viewable within the pdf file.

Batch process video to swf with controls??

Hi,
I have hundreds of QT videos that I need converted to .swf
video WITH control bar and a watermark logo.
I can batch process them to .flv using the Media Encoder, but
I need them to be .swf in order to use them in Director 2004MX.
Plus, I don't see where I can add a watermark using Media Encoder.
I have CS3 and CS4 Master Collections so I assume there's got
to be SOME way to do this batch processing.
I did a few sample tests in Flash, bringing in the .flv file,
attaching one of the prebuilt skins, adding a layer for the logo
watermark, then exporting to swf. It works beautifully in my
Director project. But to do this process 500 times would take
forever.
Any advice on how to batch to .swf video with control bar and
watermark would be greatly appreciated.

I guess as far as using the hotspot slicer in Fireworks, if I
export to an SWF it doesnt make that a clickable section in the SWF
file. Oh well. Would be a nice feature in the next version of
Fireworks.

Embed Video in inDesign and not have Dropbox logos?

Hi,
Is it possible to embed video from a video stored in your Dropbox folder and not have the Dropbox logos appear?

I tried embedding a video into my inDesign document which I have stored in my Dropbox folder. I did this to keep the file size down in my document, but when I embed the video that is in my Dropbox folder, the result is a video within the contained window of my document whcih is great, but it also contains the Dropbox logos at the top and I would love to get rid of the logos. The same thing goes for Youtube videos - when I embed a Youtube video, the whole Youtube page is included in the video window.

How do I "embed" video into my iWeb site?

Haven't figured this one out yet. So what am I missing here? Could someone tell me how to "embed" into my iWeb site?

Embed Videos in Muse

Hello, so I'm trying to get video embeded into lightrooms. I have 2 questions on this; the first, I only seem to be able to embed video in the 'Compositions' and 'Lightbox Display' Widget. Is this correct?
Secondly, and along with this, I can't get that to display a caption, which would be nice. It's strange, as I see many videos tutorials only of people being able to embed video with the option to do a caption, I guess that would be the 'Slideshows' and 'Lightbox'.

Non-youtube-vimeo video embed with controls?

I noticed in Heathrowe's code you could bring in video from a youtube style site with controls already or you can call a video from your public html folder. I see that it says that playback controls are coded in but they do not work.
Can someone tell me how to get them to work?
It pulls in the videos just fine but I have several videos that need to be larger than youtube and more than 1 a week on vimeo for a portfolio.

I know that this question has been asked before, but a answer on it i couldn't find.

This won't work inside of a browser, but if you download the pdf and open it in Reader 9 it should work. You'll have to click the Flash icon and Allow dialogs first then enter a YouTube URL in the field in the lower right corner and click play. Most YouTube URLs from your browser address field should work, i.e. this format:

Possible to do the 3d motion tracking text in video with only adobe products?

I am very interested in doing some 3d text in some video with motion tracking, such as you see in the opening shots in the show Fringe.
You will have a scene of maybe a street in the city, the camera is looking forward and moving, you have 3d block text that seems to be just hovering there up off the ground but looks like a real physical 3d object in the shot as the camera moves around.
I have been looking up tutorials for this in After effects on youtube but they always use other non adobe products as well such as boujou or 3ds max, I am wondering if it is possible to make the same shot with only adobe products. If so, what whould I use other than after effects. And lastly, can anyone point me to a good free tutorial using only adobe programs if there is one out there?
I have seen one video of someone adding text to a moving video but it was flat or plastered onto a wall and not the nice block letters that look like a sculpture in the video.

No, you can't and that settles all your other questions. For tutorials, refer to VideoCoPilot's matchmoving and set extension stuff, but even then you will need to at least use some comemrcial third-party plug-ins.
