Possible to extending macbook desktop to ipad?

Is it possible to extend a MacBook Pro desktop to an iPad? I've got them connected via Bluetooth, but just curious if this is even possible.
I'm on OSX 10.8.4, and using an iPad 2.

Take a look at AirDisplay:

It requires WiFi, though.

  • Is it possible to extend my desktop to another screen wirelessly?

    Hi Guys,
Is it possible to extend my desktop from my macbook pro to a second display unit in my room which will be wall mounted? Obviously this is possible with a cable, but I wonder if it can be done wirelessly and with what kit.
    TIA.
    Ravi

Well you need a graphics card to drive the large monitor and I don't think there is a wireless setup fast enough to stream video in HD like that.
Even if there was there would be a whole bunch of honking equiptment next to your precious.
What you can do is get a Mac Mini or another Mac that can drive that large monitor with the resoluton you need and then use Apple Remote Desktop to control the Mac Mini from across the room. Order itunes movies and so forth.
You see the Mac Mini's screen on your MacBookPro's desktop screen and can control it pretty much in real time on a fast LAN.

  • Extending my desktop across 2 (DVI) displays from 15" MacBook Pro Retina

Hi. I bought a new 15" MacBook Pro Retina a few days ago and am trying to connect 2 Dell displays with a view to extending my desktop across them both. At the Apple shop I was told I simply needed to buy 2 Thunderbolt to DVI converters (my 2 displays both have DVI out) and hook them up... Not true. If I try this my desktop only extended across 1 display. The other display isn't even picked up by my MacBook Pro.
So does anyone out there know how I connect 2 DVI displays to my MacBook Pro without buying a Matrox Dual Link? If I bought an HDMI to DVI converter cable and connected one display via the HDMI port, and the other display via the thunderbolt port, would this work?

May not be an upgrade issue ..
You have a fast processor. and 8GB of RAM is more than sufficient.  (The processor cannot be replaced)
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space. Less can slow the system down.
If your Mac seems to running slower, try the suggestions here > Mac troubleshooting: What to do when your computer is too slow | Macworld
If you have not done so, especially with school files stored on the hard drive, make sure to back up your important data on a timely basis.  Help here >  Mac Basics: Time Machine
Not a good idea to post the serial number of your Mac on the net. I have asked the moderators to edit that information for you. It has nothing to do with upgrading.

  • How can i extend the desktop of my retina Macbook using an ATV?

    Hey,
i know i had this working before, but i was using the developer preview of mavericks in that time. So is it possible?( or is it even a feature that comes with mavericks?) and if so: how would i do it?
i'm only offered the option to mirror the screen currently.
    Any help would be great.
    15" rMBP
    ATV3

It's an announced feature that will come with OS X Mavericks > http://www.apple.com/osx/preview
Until then, a third-party app can extend your desktop to your Apple TV, like AirParrot > http://www.airsquirrels.com/airparrot/

Try using this article to help with your iPad not showing up in iTunes---
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538     -This deals with the device not being recognized in iTunes for Windows
The following steps work well with iPod but i would try them for help with your iPad issue:
Try connecting your iPad to another USB port directly on the computer. Verify that you're connecting it to a high-powered USB 2.0 port on your computer to be sure iPad is getting power. If you're connecting to a Windows laptop computer through USB, connect the laptop to a power outlet before connecting your iPad. Also, see iPod not recognized when connected to Windows laptop over USB to be sure that your USB ports are supplying enough power.
Avoid connecting to an external USB hub. If a hub must be used, make sure the hub is USB 2.0, and that it has its own power supply. Also, make sure the hub is connected to a high-power USB 2.0 port on your computer.
If the issue persists, try disconnecting other USB devices from the computer such as printers, cameras, scanners, external hard drives, and USB hubs to determine if there is a conflict in the USB chain.

Yes but there's no point doing it here. As the Terms of Use make quite clear this is a User to User forum. It's Users like you talking to other Users. It's not a channel to communicate with Apple.

  • ICal - I want my iMac, MacBook Air, and iPad to all "talk" and share iCal entries.  How can I get this to happen?

I am hesitant to run the Migration Assistant for this reason.  I just want to enter an appointment on my desktop iMac and for it to show up in iCal on both my MacBook Air and iPad as well.  Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Jo Beth

Once you configure iCloud preferences on your MBA it should automatically fetch your info from the cloud. Be sure that you set up your iCal account on the MBA.

  • Video Mirroring / Extending the desktop

I have a 12" iBook G3 800mhz dual usb and have just bought a Samsung TFT 17" which works fine and plugged straight in using the apple adapter. I wanted to extend the desktop to have palettes etc. on the laptop screen, then use the 17" for the file window. Is this possible at all on an ibook, or do I need a new graphics card or something? any help appreciated

You really need a PowerBook to do screen spanning. There is a software hack that will enable you to do it, but it is not recommended by Apple, and can endanger your iBook (i.e., kill it dead). I RECOMMEND THAT YOU NOT DO THIS. I don't usually even post the link.

  • 2007 macbook or new ipad?

ok it has come down to two products. a new ipad 2 32 gb wifi or a used 2007 2.0GHZ macbook with leopard that is running very well. by the way we have a family desktop but to many people are on that all the time (my dad is a teacher so he does a lot of grading) So for that and a lot of other reasons I think it makes sense to get a laptop or ipad. By the way I am going into 9th grade. I just have a lot of good reasons to get each one but I just can't decide! I know most of you are gonna say "save your money" but I have been saving up and working for a while to get money and I know have enough that I can buy one of these and still have quite a lot left. Also saving my money is the reason I am not going to buy a new laptop.

I'd say it all depends on what you are going to be using it for mainly. I have both, a macbook and and ipad. If you want your devise to be good for student activities like typing papers and research, I would say you should just get the macbook. But, if you want to have fun, the ipad is awesome, tons of great apps,(my favorite right now is a photo editing app that I bought.)
However, if you are wanting it for social networking, I have to warn you facebook on the ipad kinda *****. For some reason, they don't yet have an HD version for ipad, so the best way to use facebook is with the facebook app for iphone... which means you have to magnify it and it looks like crap. Plus, it just doesn't work all the time.
So, like I said, consider the activities you plan to use it for the most and make you decision based on that.

  • MacBook pro to iPad?

Is there anyway I can transfer purchased apps from my MacBook to my iPad? I have iWork on my MacBook and want to put it on my iPad without having to pay for it again. Is this possible.

    Gill718-
It would be possible if it would work.  But it won't.  The iPad version (if there is one) is written for a different CPU and Operating System than the Macintosh version.

  • Syncing photos from a macbook to an iPad

Had a problem some time ago syncing my photos from the library on my macbook to the iPad. Saw Terence Devlin's recommendation for that problem--removing the iPod cache from the library onto the desktop and then resyncing--and that worked brilliantly.
Now, i Just finished loading the latest iPad software onto my iPad (not iPad 2) and as it was syncing, it hung while it was "analyzing photo library" and then a message came on saying the application had stopped and needed to be relaunched. This happened on three attempts, and once after I had restarted the macbook for good measure.
So now, my iPad has no photos (except the ones saved directly on it) since the entire library was deleted, but it refuses to sync with my macbook and download the photo library. And so a major use of my iPad as a photo album is currently stymied.
Is Terence Devlin still out there, and willing to be a saviour?

  • Can I transfer my individual iPhone photo albums to my MacBook Pro and iPad?

I have taken my photos on my iPhone and broken them down into separate album folders. When I sync my iPhone to my laptop, it will transfer the pictures over, but not in the separate album folders I've created on my iPhone.
Can I somehow transfer my individual iPhone photo albums to my MacBook Pro and iPad?
Why won't the "Album Folders" transfer over? I know I can create separate folders directly on my laptop, but that doesn't help with transferring the folders from my iPhone over to my laptop or iPad.

The Seagate backup drive I bought doesn't support 10.5.8
The only reason I can see for that is it's formatted NTFS, which would likely be Read Only in 10.5.x, if you can reformat it MacOS extended, which would erase everything on it now, then that should work for your purposes.

  • How to get pages from desktop to iPad using icloud

Can someone help me please?! I am not that great with all of this but have Pages on desktop (version 10.7.4) and have an iPad2, i am trying to get the documents from desktop onto iPad with no luck. I have brought the app for the iPad and have icloud which is working and as far as I am aware everthing is where it needs to be, but how do the documents get onto the iPad??!!  Do I have do something, if so what or should it just all appear? Also can you edit a document on the iPad or make a new document, save it and then it will appear on the desktop?
    Appreciate any help!
    thank you.

Aside from using the suggestions (both) above also make sure that you go to Settings>iCloud>Documents and data>on.
If the documents do not appear on the iPad after you have checked the settings, try creating a dummy document on the iPad. It can be anything at all. Quit Pages completely and then launch the app again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
    Launch Pages again.
If you were running Mountain Lion you would not need to drag the files into the browser - if you had iCloud all configured correctly on the Mac.
Once iCloud is set up and working as it should, you can simply launch Pages on the iPad, the edited files will appear and you can open and work on them there as needed. when you finish working on the document, the edited file will upload to iCloud again and be accessible in the browser like laxman described.
