Possible to force new sync?

A look at my router stats shows this:
5. VDSL uptime: 2 days, 21:48:26
6. Data rate: 18542 / 60493
7. Maximum data rate: 21383 / 69520
8. Noise margin: 7.6 / 9.1
9. Line attenuation: 0.0 / 14.4
10. Signal attenuation: 0.0 / 14.6
I've noticed my maximum data rate is higher than my actual data rate, is there a way to get my data rate to match the new sync rate?
Also, just 10 minutes ago I clicked the disconnect button in the HH5 and clicked connect 30 seconds later, seeing if it would force a resync but nothing happened.
And if you take a look at my VDSL uptime, it says 2 days 21 hours although I just did a disconnect/reconnect PPP connection right now. Isn't this what VDSL uptime is? (although when DLM forces a new sync it always gets reset to 0 )
So question is, is there a way I can get the modem to use these higher new maximum data rates and how do I go about doing it? My current IP profile is 58.56 Mbps and download speed 56.9 Mbps
Appreciate all your help.

Wow that worked! Haha. Thanks Deathtrap!! I know it's such a simple solution but you earned your star anyway haha. New stats:
5. VDSL uptime: 0 days, 00:07:04
6. Data rate: 18998 / 68565
7. Maximum data rate: 21076 / 68523
8. Noise margin: 7.3 / 6.5
9. Line attenuation: 0.0 / 14.4
10. Signal attenuation: 0.0 / 14.5
Max data rate did go down from 69520 to 68523 though, but not a big deal. Hopefully sync rate will keep increasing over the weeks
Speed test is now 64.3 Mbps and IP Profile 66.37 Mbps. I'm getting amazing upload speeds http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3268299412

  • Old Sync/New Sync

I installed Kubuntu on my machine at home and wanted to add the sync to firefox.
It keeps asking me for an e-mail address and password but all I have is a username and password.
Is this due to "old sync" and "new sync" I keep reading about?
I tried unlinking my PC at work from the username/password sync and now I have to disable my master password as well for this email/password sync to work.
    1. Is the username/password combo the old sync?
    2. Is the email/password the new sync?
    3. If the new sync can't work with a master password, how do I use the old sync?
    4. Is this (http://docs.services.mozilla.com/howtos/run-sync.html) still possible with the new sync?

I hope this answers your questions.
    1. That ended before Firefox 4 was released, during the "old sync" transition for Sync becoming a built-in feature and no longer an add-on called Weave. Many of the changes came in Dec 2010.
It kept working as long as the "username" was saved in the Firefox Password Manager, but the user had to remember the email address that they used when they first created their Sync account to be able to connect a new device. Overall there was no problem for most users, they could always "Pair" a new device - that email address wasn't needed to connect a new device by "Pairing".
    2. Yes and no. But the new Sync got rid of "Pairing".
    3. You can as long as you haven't updated your Sync account. But you can no longer create a new account for "old Sync".
    4. This is the correct version of that article - for Sync 1.5 which is "new Sync":
    http://docs.services.mozilla.com/howtos/run-sync-1.5.html
BTW, the "old" or previous version was 1.1 - no idea exactly when the version number 1.0 was used - and there were probably 0.# versions when it was known as Weave and was available only as an add-on.

  • HT1386 I have a new MacBook as my PC died and is it possible for me to sync my iPod to the mac and keep all my previous levels on the apps?

How do you preserve levels on apps when you are forced to sync to a new computer?

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
    - For other music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not include media like app and music.

  • New Sync only grabs new bookmarks

I recently got a new laptop and wanted to sync my Firefox install on there. So I then discovered the implementation of the new Sync and had to migrate over to that, which seemed to go fine. Quickly, all my addons and themes synced, but never my bookmarks, and only about 2 website per month from Jan-Apr, for some reason. But the main thing I care about is the bookmarks. It will only sync when I manually add a completely new bookmark to the original machine, but I won't grab all the old ones that are just sitting there in the same place. Is there a way to force a full sync of my bookmarks? Or even a way to manually carry over my bookmarks to the new machine using a USB drive?

    Hi TheMimir,
If you swipe to the right on a new tab on the Android device and you see Desktop and Mobile Bookmarks, are the old ones not there?
You can back up and restore with json files in the Bookmarks > Show all Bookmarks menu. But it is also possible to export html and import if this is absolutely necessary.

  • FIREFOX 35.0 'NEW' SYNC: I'm already signed-in to Sync but when I click on FF Sync/"Manage" in 'Options' I receive a message that my password is incorrect. Why?

    Hi Mozilla support,
My query is twofold but interrelated ... and sorry for the protracted dialogue, in advance :)
    (1) Regarding my Sync "Password" + (2) Strange issue in Options/'Sync'/"Manage
Set out below is my 'issue'.
Perhaps you can clarify what is going on here for me and help me to stop this strange occurrence.
I've used firefox since 3.5 and love it.
I now have Firefox 35 on Windows 8 (64-bit) with the 'new' Sync successfully set-up on a newish HP Desktop computer (Envy 23).
While my 'issue' doesn't cause a huge problem, it IS a source of unnecessary frustration & confusion.
If possible I'd like to eliminate that unnecessary stress and enjoy using FF again.
Additionally, I thought this peculiar 'issue' may be an indication of something else amiss in my FF Sync or my FF settings.
    Here is the scenario:-
At the moment, I'm signed in to Firefox "Sync" and it IS definitely syncing successfully - the 'circular arrows' spin around & tell me when it was last synced, so I know that's okay.
However, after the last update (to 35.0), I had to "reconnect" sync because it has "disconnected" .
I had terrible trouble signing back in, even though I was using the exact same password I had been using prior to the update.
After several failed attempts to sign in and FF repeatedly telling me I was using the 'incorrect' password, I closed the browser down & restarting FF 35.
FF had somehow 'signed me in' automatically - with the same password I thought was correct or not, I don't know.
Anyway, after all the trouble signing-in I not only felt dubious that all the data WAS syncing, I wanted to take a closer look.
But also I needed to check which password was being used for Sync, when FF signed me in (after the update & restart).
To double-check sync was working properly, I went into - "Options"/Firefox Sync/"Manage" - and was told that I needed to (quote): "Sign in, Continue to Firefox Sync".
I thought it was strange as only a couple of minutes before that, FF had already signed me in & sync seemed to be working. (the circular arrows were spinning)
Not knowing what was going on, I did as suggested by FF and entered my User-name & Password (for a second time).
I was then informed my password was 'incorrect' (please see uploaded/attached image).
I found this odd, considering this 'message' came up even though FF itself had signed me in to Sync after the update to 35 & restart of the browser.
What is confusing to me is the mixed-messages I'm receiving from FF.
FF must have signed me in to Sync using the very same Password that I've used since the 'new' sync was set-up & had been using for some time, but was now informing me in - 'Options/Sync/"Manage" - that the password was incorrect.
Although I am, at this moment, signed in to sync & it is working, I'm utterly confused as to what is or isn't the correct Password.
*If it can be avoided, I don't want to change it because I've saved it in so many places in PC, for future reference.*
Can I 're-save' the same password for Sync again, so that I can be sure that it's correct?
Also, for me, this strange behaviour by FF sync is an unnecessary source of angst and would love you to tell me what is going on or how to fix it please?

    # Yes, if you go to accounts.firefox.org, sign out, you will now be signed out.
    # Sign back in, and you will be asked to save the password you entered.
    # This will save the password and autocomplete if you have this option turned on.
I am not exactly sure why the menu did not detect the password change or if it was stored incorrectly after you changed it? But after storing the correct password you can manage any duplicate passwords in the password manager.[[Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox]]

  • Dual monitor - force new windows to always open on primary monitor?

I use my secondary monitor to watch streaming TV in internet browser windows.  When I have finished watching streaming TV and the secondary monitor is switched off, Safari still opens new browser windows on the secondary monitor by default (presumably due to the fact that the last active browser window was open on the secondary monitor).  This is irritating and means I have to switch the secondary monitor back on to drag the new browser window back to the primary display.  The secondary monitor is connected by VGA.
This is a minor niggle, rather than a major issue, but it is irritating nevertheless!  Does anyone know if there is a way to force new windows to always open on primary monitor, regardless of where the last active window was?
    Any help much appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Ben

After many days i found solution:
Run the client and get it set up the way you prefer, or Open your saved RDP file
On the Display tab, choose a non-fullscreen resolution.
On the General tab, click "delete these credentials", if possible.
    Click Connect .
You will immediately get a local login dialog. Leave it blank and click
    OK .
When you are connected and the remote login dialog appears, drag the window to the desired monitor.
On the remote login dialog, click Cancel . The settings dialog should reappear locally.
On the Display tab, you can now choose fullscreen.
You can now save your session with the Save button on the
General tab, as well as save your login credentials.
Try more times ,worked for me.

  • I'm trying to update to the new sync, but cannot find "unlink device" in Options/Sync.

I am trying to sync two PCs. I have successfully used FF Sync on two previous computers. I am now using 2 other computers, with FF 36.0.4 on both. I believe I have not used Sync on one of these computers before, but I think I've used it on the other one. (I'm talking about the "new" Sync.) However, it's possible that I haven't used Sync on either of these computers in the past--that is, I have an existing Sync account but it is not associated with either of the computers I'm trying to sync.
I've tried to follow the instructions, but they don't help me at all. When I click on the menu button, I do not see "Sign into Sync" as the Mozilla help page illustrates; instead, I see my email address. When I click on Options > Sync, I do not see "unlink this device" anywhere (see screenshot). This is true of both computers.
I don't know what to do.

hi, your screenshot shows that your firefox is already linked to a new sync account - no action is needed in this regard...

  • Possible to force install other Mac OS'es other than ones shipped?

    Hello everyone!
So, I have a power mac G4 2003 dual 1.25 MDD model and although I have the original install/restore disks for 10.2(Jaguar) and OS 9.2.2, I was wondering if there is a way, or if it exists, of hacking the firmware to allow my system to boot anything lower than 9.2.2?
Although, I got a glimpse of what OS 8.6 and lower looks like through Sheepshaver, I wanted to go a little step further and see if it is remotely possible to FORCE recognize on boot any version of Mac OS other than the ones that came with the machine?
I want to natively boot into Mac OS 8.6 and see what it looks like in full screen and just to see how it runs for nostalgic reasons. I know System 7.6.1 won't work for sure, though there has to be a way to allow the system to recognize by force mac OS's that are lower than what came with the machine?
Even Puma and Cheetah would be interesting to see. Again, I know this is a rather stupid question or request, but has anyone ever done this, or if it is remotely possible?
Thanks and have a great Monday!

There are plenty of examples where what you want to do would work fine. But on the specific Mac you are using, the mirrored drive doors G4, there were major architectural changes.
The Bus Controller used in previous Macs was replaced with a different High Speed custom Integrated circuit that provided access to a never-before-seen type of memory running faster than ever before. No support for it exists in any previous version of any Mac OS. That same IC also provided a previously unseen Interface to the Hard drive, now at ATA/100 speeds. Another new Interface running at speeds never seen before. And that same IC also provides an Interface for FireWire 800 in certain models, another architectural change. The performance gains are remarkable. That it will not run older versions of Mac OS is completely unremarkable.
Your Mac has a completely different Hardware Architecture for its Memory and Hard drive. There was no code to drive that Hardware in previous versions of Mac OS because that Hardware did not exist when those versions of Mac OS were written. If you want to run older versions of Mac OS, you WILL need an older Mac that can run them. If there were a way to hack it, this community would know about it and tell you.

  • Is it possible to force 16/32-bit stack alignment without using the optimizer?

The compiler emits code targeted at the classic Pentium architecture for the -m32 memory model.  I'm running into problems mixing Sun Studio compiled code with code built with other compilers because the other compiler builds under the assumption that the stack is 16-byte aligned.
The only way I've found to force Sun Studio to comply with that restriction is with -xarch={sse2a,sse3,...}, but this causes the code to pass through the optimizer.  As noted in the documentation, if you want to avoid optimizations you must remove all flags that imply optimizations -- that is to say, there's no way to disable optimizations once enabled.  This should not, however, be treated as an optimization because it's an ABI requirement.
I've scoured the documentation, spent many hours googling, digging through forums, and asking questions.
The best I've come up with is the -xarch option which is sub-optimal because it has side effects.  I tried -xchip=pentium4 (this is what my other compilers have set as their default target), but the generated code doesn't force 16-byte stack alignment.
Is there a way to force the compiler to emit code conforming to a different ABI without using the optimizer?
    -Brian

    Thank you for your response.
I hope you won't mind my asking: do you have a way to prove that it's not possible to force 16-byte alignment without using the optimizer?  I ask because your username / profile don't give the impression you work for Oracle, so while I think you're probably right it's at least possible that we're both mistaken.  I haven't been able to find any documentation on either stack alignment or altering the targeted ABI short of using the -xarch flag, and even there the details are fairly sketchy.

  • When I try to create a new sync account using my email address, the response says it's alreay in use. I imagine this is a relic of my old foxmarks account. Is there a way to release that email account from the old version, or to reover the password?

I've gotten an iPhone, and downloaded the Firefox browser to it, and I'd like to sync the browsers between my iMac and iPhone. When I enter my email to create a new sync account, I'm told that it's already in use, but there's no option to retrieve my password.
Any idea how to get around this?

Try the options at https://services.mozilla.com/ and see if you can't recover the password.

  • I lost my sync key when my harddrive was wiped, so how do I get a new sync key without deleting my saved data?

I synced my firefox bookmarks so that I could reupload them if ever my computer got wiped, so I don't have a second device with the sync key on it. I made the mistake of only saving the sync key on the computer. I just got my computer back from the shop and they wiped my operating system without asking. Now I don't have my sync key and the only way to access my sync account requires that I change the sync key and delete all the data saved on the server. How can I get access to my data?

Sorry, without your Sync Key your data is worthless, it can't be de-crypted, and creating a new Sync Key will wipe it from the Sync server.
BTW, the Firefox Sync service isn't meant for "backups", it is meant to synchronize your Firefox data between different "devices". Any chance you had more than one device setup with that Sync account? If so, you can use the Sync Key from that device.

My desktop was reformatted, but my bookmarks are still synced to my "firefox beta for android". Yet for the life of me I cannot figure out how to unlink my old sync account from my android.

This is close to the problem I'm having. My husband let someone at work "update" his program and the goober deleted everything. I can only get a screen that has itunes logo and a usb cable picture. When I try to sync it Itunes doesn't bring up the phone on the left side. It doesn't recognize it at all. Can someone please tell me what I need to do? I've already tried reinstalling itunes, I've tried to sync on another computer and all I get is that itunes screen on my phone.
