Possible to import new mac address vendor code translation list in WCS 6?

Is it possible to import new (IEEE) vendor code list to get correct information regarding clients MAC-addresses? There are too many client vendor codes reported as "Unknown" lately......
Running 6.0.196.0.
/jonas

What is the mac address of the vendor OUI? Every new release of WCS contains the latest MAC vendor OUI so upgrading to WCS 7.0.164.3 should update the vendor's info.
If its a new device, please post the mac address, device, and vendor.

  • Time Machine stopped working with new Mac address.

    Greetings,
I have an IOMEGA 500, FireWire which I used to use for Time Machine. I now have a new Mac address and do not have access to the old Mac address. Is there any way that I can get the IOMEGA to start working with Time Machine? If so please give me step by steps instructions on how to make this external hard drive work again with Time Machine.
    Any help is most appreciated.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Do you have a new Mac, or a new logic board? Either will get you a new MAC (Media Access Control) address, which Time Machine interprets as a different Mac.
Do you mean you haven't started doing backups of the new Mac, and want to view the old ones? If so, see #E2 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).
If you want to use the old backups to set up a new Mac, see [Setting up a new Mac from an old one or its backups|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/Setup.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
When you do your first backup, OSX should ask how you want to handle the old backups. See #B5 in Troubleshooting for details.
If that's not what you mean, please explain exactly what's going on, and what happens when you try to do whatever you're doing.

  • Is it possible to import new slides and keep the audio?

    Hi,
is it possible to import new slides and keep the audio?
The designers have changed the housestyle of the powerpoints,
but the audio has been recorded in captivate in the meanwhile. Is
it possible to keep the audio of the files and replace all the old
powerpoint slides with new ones? (not one by one by hand off but
all in one button press ?)
    Thanks,
    wouter
    My
    Elearning company.

    Hi again Wouter
Are you saying that your Library has lots of other audio that
isn't really used on a slide? If so, try right-clicking the Library
panel and choosing "Select Unused Items". This should highlight all
the sound files not in use. Now press the Delete key and they
should be removed from the Library view.
Now you are faced with just what is left. You may not know
which clip goes with which slide. So try this. In your Film strip,
audio attached to the slide should appear as a Speaker icon in the
corner. Click the Speaker icon and pop down (or up) menu should
display. Choose "Find in Library". This should highlight the
associated clip in the Library. Now, if you like, you may
right-click the file in the Library and rename that to something
like "Slide X audio" (so you know which clip goes with which
    slide).
    Cheers... Rick

  • Possibility to use new Mac mini with an USB-DAC?

Anybody knowing anything about the possibility to use the new Mac mini with an USB-DAC. My reason for the question is that I've heard that USB3 doesn't handle sound. I'm thinking about to buy a mac mini and use it as an HTPC and signalsource together with NAIM DAC-V1.
    // Rode orm

What I have heard that there are a few USB2 audio devices that
have had some issues with USB3, but USB3 itself is supposedly
    backward compatible to USB2.
I would check with the makers of the DAC to see if there are any
    USB3 issues.

  • Can't add new MAC address to MAC ACL on Airport Express

    Hi,
I just recently got a new iPhone 3GS. When I logged into my Airport Express to add it's MAC address to the ACL I found that the + icon was greyed out. I can modify old MAC addresses in the list and delete addresses, but I can't add new ones. Anyone have any idea why this might be the case. It seems like I can modify all other settings without any problems. I restarted the basestation, no help. I also even reset the password just incase, as you might expect that didn't help either. Any thoughts? Thanks.
    Setup:
WDS with 2 other access points
Mac Address Access Control set to "Local"

If you are configuring the router as MGCP, you do not enter the mac address, just the router name.

  • Importing Hotspot MAC address to PDA J2ME application??

    This is my Problem:
Final Year Project. Using J2ME to write an application for a Pocket PC. Part of the application is to display details of the area of a building that the PDA is currently in, eg Floor Number. I do this by extracting the MAC address of the nearest Hotspot and then use this MAC address to determine which part of the building the PDA is in. (Building details stored in database)
I can extract the MAC address of the nearest Hotspot using mini-netstumbler.
My problem is how do I export this MAC address to my application. I'm new to this side of programming so any ideas greatfully appreciated.
    Cheers!!!!!!

How are you getting the MAC address at the moment, I don't think J2ME has access to this information.

  • Actiontec router not accepting new mac addresses

I have the Actiontec MI424-WR Hardware revision D. I have put MAC addresses in the router before and all those devices are working fine. Now it seems I can't add any new addresses. I am using WEP 64/40.
Tried the powering it off deal, no luck. Anone know why this is happening?

First an obligitory ... you really need to upgrade to at least WEP 128 but preferably WPA2.   Wep64 is very weak.  Additionally, understand that Mac address restriction is almost as much a myth as "turning off SSID broadcast" in terms of providing any additional security.     The first packet that traverses your network gives anyone who wants to spoof a device which is allowed on your network the information they need to defeat Mac locking.
In general Mac locking and SSID broadcast hiding provide no real security and just serve to make your life more difficult.
    With that said ...
I've seen that happen and one way I managed to fix it was to turn off Mac locking and apply it.   Then come back and re-enable it and add the necessary systems.   Failing that, I've emptied the list, turned off the Mac locking, applied, and then re-enabled and added everyone back it.   A pain, but it worked.
Two other things I've occasionally missed myself:
    1. New addresses get added to the bottom of the list initially (i.e. you may need to scroll the list box down).
    2. After applying, I've seen the list order change -- so the Mac may move to somewhere in the middle of the list
    3. Attempting to add an address twice doesn't work (i.e. make sure it's not already in the list).
Sounds silly, but I've done each of these myself at one time or another and kicked myself when I finally realized it.
Hope one of those works for you.

  • Is possible to set you MAC address on a zone?

    Hello,
On our Solaris 10 servers we have shared NIC interfaces. We have a program that is having issues talking to the all zones because they have the same MAC address.
Is there a way with zonecfg or ifconfig to change the MAC on the zones?
Other wise we need to rewire the servers and I don't know if we have enough NICs for all the zones.
Thanks for any input you can give.
Edited by: CyberNinja on Nov 21, 2012 8:21 AM

Shared stack does not allow the MAC address to be changed per zone. As someone else suggested, Solaris 11 greatly improves things because a single physical NIC can be used for multiple exclusive stack zones.
You may want to consider running Solaris 11 on these servers. If some or all of your zones need to continue to be on Solaris 10, you could then use Oracle Solaris 10 Zones (i.e. solaris10 branded zones) on Solaris 11. If you have a box running Solaris 11, you can try out Solaris 10 Zones with:
    pkg install brand-solaris10
    zonecfg -z s10zone 'create; set zonepath=/zones/s10zone'
    zoneadm -z s10zone install -p -a /path/to/archive
Instructions for creating the archive can be found at:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26502_01/html/E29024/gjroc.html#scrolltoc
The configuration that results from the zonecfg command above uses exclusive stack with one anet resource. The anet resource allows you to change the MAC address, limit which IP address(es) are used by the dedicated stack, automatically configure the IP address, etc.
Note that Solaris 11.1 just came out. If you are installing Solaris 11 for the first time, best to start with Solaris 11.1. If you have Solaris 11.0 (aka Solaris 11 11/11) I'd suggest updating to at least 11.0 SRU2 before doing a lot with zones.

  • My MACBook Pro has been stolen. Is there any possibility to know the MAC Address from serail number? If I well understood the MAC address can not be changed and therefore the MACBook could be found if connected to Internet. Thanks for any support. Cri

  • Macchanger - option ending - mistake in new MAC address

    Hi folk,
I use macchanger on my ethernet card to share my network.
My access point is by default associated to my ethernet IP.
To connect to this point more than one machine,
I cloned my terminal's MAC address into a router,
and spoof the terminal MAC to avoid conflict with the cloned MAC from the router.
It does work (If any better solution, I'm listening), but I have a tiny bug,
So, I do have an issue with the --ending option,
which keeps the card's brand prefix and alter only the end.
However, if it does the trick, it alters also the 2nd digit of the first set wrong,
changing it from 0 to 2:
    # macchanger -s enp3s0
    Current MAC: 02:24:ZZ:xx:xx:xx (unknown)
Permanent MAC: 00:24:ZZ:yy:yy:yy (Asustek Computer Inc.)
It have this behaviour since the beginning of my using of this option.
    3.13.6-1-ARCH
    macchanger v.1.6.0-2
    lspci:
01:00.0 Network controller: Ralink corp. RT2790 Wireless 802.11n 1T/2R PCIe
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 Gigabit or Fast Ethernet (rev b0)

Hi, another similar bug on the same option, it does weird indeed.
My ethernet card is Asustek, and a Azurewave for the wireless.
Macchanger --ending seems to work *sometimes* on the wireless : it did change the MAC on it without bug just right now.
    But it kept bugging before.
Does anybody else has the same issue ?
I look forward to report a bug

  • How can I import my .mac address book from online to my computer?

My macbook was stolen last week, and I am now using an older iBook that we had, but I haven't been able to retrieve my mail address book from the backups I was making. I have most of the contacts in my address book when using .mac web-based email, but not on my computer. I am afraid to turn on syncing because I don't want my computer to erase all the addresses stored online. How can I reverse sync, and get my online address book to import to my computer?
    Thanks.

go to 'system prefernces > .Mac > advanced > reset sync data'
Then choose to replace everything on your compu with .Mac data. (Back up before you begin! or is there really nothing to back up, then don't bother of course)

    From About Windows Migration Assistant:
Outlook and Outlook Express contacts, and Windows Contacts from the Contact home directory are transferred to Address Book.
Migration Assistant will create a new user account and copy things into it.

I'm trying to set up a second email address on my new .mac mail account and I'm stuck. What would be the account description/type/ingoing server/outgoing server for a new account. I've read the directions on mail help to no avail. Also, suddenly my "saved email" option on the left vertical bar is gone. I assume it's because the box got too full (i really liked it . Does anyone know how to access/empty/make it reappear as a mail function ?

Yes, I am a new .mac subscriber. I have a main mac address: [email protected] and then have my old aol address ( [email protected]) mail 'shunted ?' into my new mac address.
My partner now needs an email address for his own online banking account. I'm looking for the easiest way to do this under my mac account.
Saved email folder was an option on the vertical pane under "Inbox" "Sent Mail" "Junk Mail." I used it to store important incoming emails.
Thanks so much for your time,
