  • We have a PCI-6110S to run our VIs. But, we are planing to buy another card (PCI-6024E) to run real time PID vi. So, if they are installed at the same computer, would it be a problem for LabVIEW to run both of them at the same time.

We have PCI-6110 S series installed in our computer. We are planing to purchase PCI-6024 E series card. They will be both installed at the same computer.
    1) I am wondering if we run both of them at the same time, would we have any problem?
    2) To run PID real time, can any E series of PCI card be used?
    Thanks...

    Hello Baho,
    1) Using Traditional NI-DAQ, there could be problems with the fact that the NI-DAQ driver is not multi-threaded; meaning that while waiting for one operation to complete, the driver could cause another operation to time out. On the other hand, DAQmx is multi-threaded, and would eliminate this problem. At the time of this writing though, DAQmx does not yet support simultaneous-sampling boards like the PCI-6110S. A good solution then would be to use Traditional DAQ for the 6110S and DAQmx for the E-series board, and they would by default run in separate threads.
    2) No, using a PCI E-Series board, the LabVIEW VI would have to run in a Windows OS and would not be Real Time or run deterministically. You can run the PID program in Windows, but the
results could be inconsistent. The advantage of a Real Time is that the OS is deterministic or that the OS allows you to tightly control or determine the maximum time any function takes to operate. This kind of control of the maximum operation time is not possible with non-Real Time OSs such as Windows.
If you would like to get set up with a Real Time System, I suggest you contact your Technical Sales Representative.

You can do it. This article from Macworld will be helpful to you:

    I recommend the "brute-force" method.
Just make sure you have your data backed up properly!

  • Can I have both Lightroom 3 and Lightroom 5 both installed on the same computer?

Can I have both Lightroom 3 and Lightroom 5 both installed on the same computer? I like the "fill light" feature in 3 and use it a lot. I would have not gotten 5 except that the images from my new Canon 5D Mk III are not re4cognized on 3. I have 5 on a laptop and 3 on my desktop but would like to have both on my desktop .

Yes you can do this, but you can also get rid of Lightroom 3 and use the "Fill Light" command in Lightroom 5. You need to set the Process Version to 2010 (default is 2012 in Lightroom 5). Use the menu command  Settings > Process > 2010
But honestly, you would be wise to stop using "Fill Light", as the new sliders in Lightroom 5 produce superior image quality than anything you can come up with using "Fill Light". Yes, the new sliders take a little time to get used to, but your patience and effort learning the new sliders will be rewarded. You can find some tutorials and videos on using Process Version 2012 on that Internet thing.

Can PP CS5 & CS3 be installed on the same computer? Will they both function?
I know I have to updates to windows 7. I have a 3gig quad core pros with 4 gigs ram.

Yes they can be installed on the same pc, but i think you are a bit low on ram.

  • Can 7.1 and 8 be installed on the same computer without conflict?

I wrote a program in Labview 8.0 and want to run it on a computer that already has 7.1 (this computer has a lot of programs that we don't want to have to upgrade).  Saving as a previous edition created 5 pages worth of compatability errors.  Is it possible to simply install 8.0 in addition to 7.1 on the same computer without either program interfering with the other?  We use a DAQ card and GPIB.

As Blair said, yes you can have multiple versions installed.
You simply have to remember 2 important things:
    1.  Keep backups of the appropriate versions of vi's.
    2.  Remember to right-click on the vi and select Open With > select appropriate LV version.
Instead of 2 (above), you can always start LV first and open the vi's from within it.

  • 30 gb ipod and 1gb nano ipod --same computer???????????

My wife has had a 1gb nano for a year and has itunes installed on our laptop. I just purchased a 30 gb ipod and installed itunes on my own sign on but same computer.. My question is ....is there a way to transfer her songs over to my itunes

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • Do I need to deactivate if I need to install on the same computer?

I purchased Design Premium CS4 for my 32-bit Vista. Since installing, I've noticed that the programs run really slow and it gets sort of frustrating. Everything is installed onto the C drive. On the exact same computer, I have another drive that's completely empty and I never use it. I'm thinking that if I remove the CS4 from the C: drive and move it to the extra drive, that the programs will run a lot smoother.
Thing is though, I'm afraid if I uninstall CS4 without deactivating it, and go back to install, it'll freak out, say it can't install CS4 because it's already registered to different computer (when in fact it's the comp), and then I lost $600+. But then again, I'm afraid if I were to deactivate, and uninstall, it'll completely refuse to work on the computer it just came off of.
I don't know. I'm confused and worried about losing this really big investment. Any help?

From a real quick glance at my stats, I have 153 out of 250 GB open. 2 GB of RAM, and my processing power is 6400 @ 2.13 GHz (if that helps).
In Photoshop itself (the program that I use the most), it says I have 1640 MB of available RAM, and I'm letting Photoshop use 929 MB of it (56%).
THe only scratch disk I'm using is on that extra drive which has 232 GB of free space. I am NOT using the C: drive as a scratch disk.

  • Multiple iPods, same computer....HELP

I know this question has probably been answered, but I have tried other things and nothing works.
I have Windows XP, and I have my own account on it and my own iPod(4th gen, click wheel) and my sister has her own account and her own mini iPod. Our music is shared in the shared music folder on the computer.
Problem is, how do we use multiple iPods on the same computer. I am having trouble because whenever I/we plug in our iPod to the computer, it does not load to iTunes and instead just shows up as something in the E drive. How can I make it recognize each iPod individually without hassle?
Also, is there a way to not have everyone log out to update my iPod? I get a prompt that says everyone must log out before accessing iTunes. Any help would be great...thanks!

There are basically two methods for managing multiple iPods on one computer. See here:
Method 1 - Create different Windows users accounts for each iPod on this computer.
Method 2 - Create a playlist in iTunes for each iPod.
To make Method 2 work, connect one of your iPods, and click on it in the left-source panel.
Under the "Music" tab, and set your option for a specific playlist(s) under the "Sync Music" option.
Do the same with your other iPod; not connected at the same time as the other one, though.
For more details on this matter, check out Apple's Support article about it:

    I hope that helps you.

  • Can TWO different Zen Micros be installed on the same computer w/o confli

I have a Zen Micro 5G, and would like to buy a Zen Micro Photo 8G as well. Does anyone know if there will be conflicts to install the software (firmware?) on the SAME computer? I had conflicts when I tried to install two different Palm Pilots on the same computer - the software of the first Palm no longer worked properly. Perhaps the new one "overrides" the first? I don't know if this might happen with the Zen Micro and Micro Photo.
Also, does anyone know if the Micro Photo fits into the Zen Micro Traveldock?
Thanks so much for any insight you can offer!

I don't think they will conflict because if you use mediasource, you can have different music libraries etc...
I believe the microphoto fits the traveldock, but don't hold me to it

  • Is it possible to install OSX on another computer via Target disk mode?

    Hey there...
a friend of mine has an older iBook. the drive on this iBook is broken (snapped off) so there's no way of using it.
is it possible to install OS Panther from another computer (use OS X panther install running on a MacBook, or G4) targeting the iBook via Target Disk mode?
    thanks!
    -

    Hello Again SCHPiLKAS!
As roam posted, you cannot use the Intel MacBook install discs, on the PPC iBook.
    Additional info in these links.
Using OS X Install CDs/DVDs On Multiple Macs
What's A Computer Specific Mac OS X Release
Software Update, Upgrade: What's The Difference?
If the iBook meets the Panther System Requirements, and the Additional Panther System Requirements, and you have a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, you can use Firewire Target Disk Mode, to install the system.
The Panther discs should look, exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade, CPU Drop-in DVD, or "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold seperately." on them.

  • Four different IPODS same computer

How do I update my tunes on four ipods (for four different people) on the same computer without losing what is already stored on them.

There are basically two ways of using multiple iPods on a computer and these involve:
    a) Sharing a single iTunes library and user account.
    b) Creating multiple user accounts and having separate libraries.
    Sharing a Library
If you want to share the one library, you can set either or all of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish):
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time if you choose. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Or you can choose to update any or all of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them: Managing content manually on iPod
Loading the iPod shuffle differs slightly but if you have one it can still be used with the others, for details have a look at this page:
Loading songs onto iPod shuffle - Windows
    Separate User Accounts
Another option is to create a separate User account for each person on your PC or Mac. Different accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists

  • Can FrameMaker 7 and FrameMaker 12 be installed on the same computer?

My techcomm group hasn't updated Frame in a while, obviously. I'm the "guinea pig" to test how our docs work with the newest version of Frame. However, I still need to be able to work in and save existing documents for other users -- coworkers who still have Frame 7 -- to work in them.
    So... can I?

    > ... same computer ...
What OS (obviously Windows, but XP, Vista, 7 or 8?).
If 7 Ultimate, Pro or Enterprise, install the FM7 in XP Mode (which is a major download) to provide maximum isolation of the two FMs.
And before you do it, let us know, because there are some considerations with XP mode on Win7.

  • Is it possible to have two versions of Adobe Reader installed on the same computer?

Some time back I upgraded from Reader 9.x to 10.x.  Quite often I will email a pdf that I have open in Reader and this feature works perfectly with 9.x but was problematic with 10.x. -- sometimes it worked and sometimes it did not.  This along with changes to the user interface convinced me to move back to 9.x.  For my purposes stability takes precedence over bells and whistles (and the attendant problems B & Ws can create).
I see that 10.x has some added features that could be useful but I would prefer to keep 9.x and use 10.x only when / as needed.
    I am using Windows 7 64 bit.

10 will uninstall 9. If you can figure out a way around it, they do not play well together and it is not recommended nor supported.
