Possible to make a freeze frame in iMovie09?

In Final Cut Pro there is an option to freeze any frame in your movie turning it to a still shot, which you can adjust the time it displays in the timeline.
Does iMovie 09 have any sort of freeze frame feature? I've looked and looked but can't figure out a way to do it if it can.

Hello,
Creating a freeze frame is easy. Place the playhead on the image you want to freeze. Right-click and choose "Add Still Frame to Project" from the menu that pops up. If you have a one-button mouse, hold down the Control key and click to get the same menu.
This will create a freeze frame and I believ the defaut is 4 seconds. You can easily change the length to whatever you like.
Good luck.
Yours, Marc

  • Is it possible to move a freeze-frame from an imovie(9.0.2) clip to iphoto?

Is it possible to move a freeze-frame from an imovie(9.0.2) clip to iphoto?

Yes. You will need to download and install a free app called MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5.
In iMovie, locate the video clip that contains the still you want. Right-click on the video clip and select REVEAL IN FINDER. You should see this clip highlighted in the Finder. Drag this video clip into MPEG Streamclip.
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the video frame that you want to make a still from. Click FILE/CREATE FRAME...
You can choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name and location.

  • How to make a freeze frame sequence

    title pretty much says it

I don't know what a freeze frame sequence is. Sounds it is a bunch of freeze frames tied together, or it could be a video that plays for a while and then freezes.
In the first case you might want to try posterize time, which would make a video jump say 10 frames at a time.
In the second case, you would move the CTI (Current Time Indicator) to the point when you want to freeze the frame and then go to Layer > Time > Freeze Frame.
If a freeze frame sequence is something else please give us an accurate description or example.

  • How do I make a freeze frame.

I can't find an option to create a freeze frame? Any pointers?

If you're wondering how to take a screenshot of the program, you can hit the little camera icon. If I misunderstood though the question though please let me know so I can attempt to answer more accurately.

  • Make freeze frame without blur on motion

I want to make freeze frame on video but the problem is sign language signing make blur motion. I need to get sharp clear make freeze frame. Is there a way that can make sharp to make it freeze frame.
    video clip is 1920 x 1080, 30 fps
Make freeze frame is for book so need to make motion clear? How?

Then there's not much you can do now.  It would have helped a little if you'd have used a high shutter speed on the video camera, but that's water under the bridge.
The only thing I can think of off the top of my head would be to find another frame where the hand wasn't moving then export both frames as s till image.  Open both in Photoshop and make a selection of the hand then copy that to the first still.

  • Anamorphic timeline makes 14:9 freeze frames

    Hello
I'm using FC Studio (5.0.4) and working on a DV Pal anamorphic timeline (the final footage will be played out as 16:9 fha). The problem I'm having now is that if I make a freeze frame it comes out as 14:9. This wasn't happening when I was working on it on Friday and I haven't changed any settings. Afterwards I did start working on a 16:9 fha project, but I don't think that should alter anything.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks
    Louise

Make sure that the viewer is set to "Show Square Pixels" in the little oval button in the central top area of the Viewer on the left side of the three oval buttons.

  • Make Freeze Frame--Grabs 5 Seconds Later

I'm not sure why this is happening, but every time I try to do a Make Freeze Frame of a particular frame in the timeline, it always pulls the image 5 seconds LATER in the timeline!! I've tried pulling the Freeze Frame from the Canvas window and the Viewer window with the same results.
    Here are the specs:
Video is ProRes 422 (HQ) @ 25 fps. Timeline matches same specs with square pixels and no field dominance. The footage is exported from a Keynote presentation. However, when I sent the export I chose 30fps although the final footage came out at 25fps. This footage is listed in FCP @ 25fps and if I open it in QT it also is listed @ 25fps.
    Any thoughts?

ProRes HQ is a heavy format. Make sure you are editing on a fast RAID and Mac. My guess would be the computer is struggling with the playback of ProRes HQ and by the time you hit your frame grad it takes a moment to process.
Instead of trying to do frame grabs on the fly. I would stop near the section of video you want to make a freeze frame. Then go frame by frame for an exact frame grab. Might be a little slower but more accurate.
In terms of your 25fps. Try re-exporting and confirm your settings are set to 30fps.

  • Converting freeze frame to jpeg

Needing to convert a frezze frame image to a jpeg....
How do I get it out of FCP and into Phootshop?

I hope you're not assuming you have to make a freeze frame first, and then make a still-- it's not necessary.
Park the playhead on the frame you want to export, then File>export>quicktime conversion>still image>pick your flavor.  I like Tiffs or psd's for photoshop.
Select those frames carefully-- try to have as little motion as possible in the frame so you don't have to de-interlace in photoshop.  you lose half the vertical resolution when you do that.

  • Trouble with making a freeze frame?

    Hello All,
I need some help with something I'm trying to do.  I have a short clip in my timeline that I have color corrected and added some filters to.  Then I move the playhead around until I find a still picture that I like and then I go to Modify>Make Freeze Frame and then I move the still from the viewer over to the section that hold all the files.  The trouble is that when I make the freeze frame FCE is giving the version before I did color correction or adding the filters.  How do I get to make a freeze frame that has been color corrected?  It's showing me the raw version before I've done anything to it.
    Thanks for your help.
    MIke

When the freeze frame is created in FCE, it is only from the master clip (with no filters applied).  Simply drag the filters that you applied to the clip to the new freeze frame.  The filters will be applied with the settings you made.

  • 16:9 Freeze frame

    how to 16:9 Freeze Frame?
It have 16:9 DV and resulting image as a PSD with QT Export is 4:3
sure I can cmd-T > transform it in photoshop in a 16:9 template but isnt there a more elegant way.

The simplest method to make a freeze frame from the Timeline (or from another video source in the Viewer) is to choose the frame and chose the menu item "Modify > Make Freeze Frame" (shortcut "Shift N") which will load the current fame into the Viewer as a freeze frame the duration of which is set in "User Preferences" and at the aspect ratio of the source. In Final Cut Pro it will be displayed at the correct aspect ratio so no need to convert.
If you are talking about exporting a freeze frame out of Final Cut Pro as a still then it is a different thing.
The PAL frame is 720 pixels x 576 pixels and this is the same for both 4x3 and 16x9. But the 16x9 image has an anamorphic horizontal squeeze on in it. To see it un-squeezed on a still image simply change the horizontal size from 720 to 1024 pixels in Photoshop and Bob's your uncle.
Not 100% sure for NTSC but I think it is 720 pixels expanded to 853 pixels? No doubt someone can correct me here if this is wrong.

  • Why am I getting a black frame when I'm trying to add a freeze frame?

Why am I getting a black frame when I'm trying to add a freeze frame?

There are a few ways to make a freeze frame. What exactly are you doing? Using the hold function? Connecting a freeze frame? Exporting a still frame? Happens it's because of the specs of your media. What are they?

  • Black still Image from freeze frame

I have a timeline who’s video was captured from the same source tape as one master clip.
For some reason, when I try to make a freeze frame on some of the clips, the image comes up black, like a slug. The clip shows up fine in the Canvas and double clicking it, it is OK in the Viewer.
With some other clips in the timeline, I get the expected proper freeze frame. All clips are from a single master clip.
I also tried getting a freeze frame from the viewer, but the same results. Some clips work and others produce a black slug.
I tried both shift-Z and freeze frame from the menu.
    Kinda strange.
    Any ideas? Trash preferences?
    Thanks,
    ======
    Richard

We've been having this problem on a large "clean up" job, on a project we've been working on. We found that making smaller clips of the freeze frames, seems to work. So the initial clip was 5 to 7 minutes, I cut them into 2 minute chunks, and just copied and pasted. I also replaced a few of them, with mattes and basically tried to re-invent the wheel, of the original files. This worked better. I realize this doesn't help if you're working with images. We're dealing with powerpoints..
    weird stuff.

  • Saving Freeze Frame Images

    Hello,
When I make a freeze frame from my timeline in FCE 4, how do I save it in the browser/browsers?
Is there a way to save as a new file within the project?
    Thanks!
    Susan

And if you want to use the freeze frame in other apps, like Photoshop, place the Timeline playhead on the frame you want, then go to File->Export->Using QuickTime Conversion.  In the export window, use the drop-down FORMAT menu near the bottom left of the window and choose Still Image.  In the Options drop-drown menu, choose the still image file type you want (JPG, PNG, TIF, etc).

  • Best Way To Freeze Frame?

I have had mixed results with an ending freeze frame coming at the end of a movement sequence. I've tried match frame then exporting as a jpeg, and then inserting the still clip...but it still doesn't look exactly like the ending frames of the movement sequence. Also desaturation sometimes makes it a little muddy, coming at the end of a crystal clear segment.
So, what is the best way to create a freeze frame on the end of a movement sequence?
    Thanks.

    1. Place your playhead on the frame of the clip in your sequence you want to make a freeze frame of
    2. Press "shift + n" and a freeze frame will appear in the Viewer
    3. Set the duration of your freeze frame, in the duration field in the top left corner of your Viewer
    4. Edit your freeze frame to the timeline (your sequence) by doing an overwrite edit
You could also make a freeze frame with time remapping. It depends how long your want your freeze frame to be.
    Good luck!
