Possible to offer a 640x480 size Flash movie?

Hello & Happy Christmas List responders,
My name is Luke Wonderly, and I've used flash 5 a little bit
- in the past.
I just purchased my new copy of CS3, and am beginning to
develop how the work flow for
my project should go.
I have several hundred individual "Dance" moves, that are 6
to 12 seconds long (both real time - and slow motion) shot
on DVC-Pro 720x486 - exported as uncompressed QT movies - in
a current supported Codec.
I would like to deliver them on the internet - both as QT,
and Flash movies.
For the Flash development, my first questions -
2 Questions:
1). Is it possible to deliver an internet Flash Movie at a
640x480 size?
I see tons of references to creating 320x240 sizes - but
what about the larger, physical size?
2) Is it possible to allow a way for my audience to download,
save & keep the Flash movies - to watch later?
If so, how are the way's you folks would do it? (3rd
question).
Thank you for any help, time or direction that you may offer.
Kindest regards & Christmas greetings,
Luke Wonderly
[email protected]

Thank you rafiqelmansy for helping,
and Happy New Year to you as well!
Ok, I think I understand about file size and bandwidth.
These movies will be offered on line - to paying subscribers.
Each movie teaches a paticular dance move (with 2 different
camera views
one real time, the other view in slow motion) . . plus there
is no Audio .
Only text titles, description & break down.
So the content is for training (monkey see, monkey do), and
needs to be as large as possible - preferably 640x480 . . . .
The clients know that it's not going to be tiny file sizes -
and because each
dance movie is only (average) 8 seconds long - it should
still boil down
to an acceptable, downloadable size . . . .
At least that's what I was hoping for. Thank you for letting
me know that
Flash will at least give me the options.
Of course I'll be doing all kinds of compression level
testing - but I didn't
want to start in a 640 direction - until I could find out
first - if that physical size was even supported.
In reference to question 2, you wrote:
"2) yes, you just need to upload the version that the users
need to download and link to it from Flash using."
It looked like maybe you got cut off - or that you wanted me
to go to your
web site (using attached link) . . . I searched your site on
the tutorials -
very nice (I know physical size of Flash content &
player, and will use your tutorial for that end of delivery) . . .
But I didn't see any reference on:
How to offer your customers the ability to download,
save/keep, and watch the movie(s) later . . . . (but maybe I missed
it).
Do I offer it with a link to a Compressed "Stuff it" flash
player file.
Is there just a simpler way?
And then, what happens when the customer actually double
clicks the
file that's on their computer . . . . . does it engage the
browser, then the flash plug in - then
begin playing it ?
I'm just not sure how it should be done - so that it will
really work.
Could you please help me on this a little more?
Thanks again,
Luke Wonderly

  • Is it possible to play a Flash movie in a 63" HDTV monitor

    Dear all,
Hope my questions are make sense!
Firstly, is it possible to sync the Flash movie on a 63" HDTV
monitor from a PC notebook, but also keeping the quality of the
graphic (I am afraid the graphic will look blury when display on a
large monitor). Secondly, what size should I make for the Flash
file? Lastly, because I am going to load a video externally, what
is the best way to do it?
    Thank you for you help!

The bigger (more pixels) flash movie goty, the higher quality
    you will get on HDTV.
create a high resolusion flash movie, try to make it exactly
    what your HDTV support.

  • Please Help!!!!!dynamically changing a flash movies size...

Hi i'm working on my final year dissertation and have become
intensely stressed out/frustrated & almost mental in achieving
    this particular aim!!!!
what i need to know is how to
dynamically change a flash movies document size in real time,
without squashing or stretching the content, much like the banner
adds frequently seen on hotmail by companies such as orange, lexus
etc.. where the flash movies size expands on interaction
Help on this will be greatly greatly appreciated!!
    Thank you.

RE: "P.S. I  found it aggravating that I couldn't copy and paste text  here, it wanted me to insert as a link or an image, how do you insert plain  text?"
I take it you tried using the "right click" menu?   That doesn't seem to work, as you noted, but, you should be able to paste text by pressing your CTRL key  and while holding it down, press the "V" letter  key.
    CTRL + C = COPY
    CTRL + X = CUT
    CTRL + V = PASTE

  • Help !! !!  What size is this flash movie?

How do you tell the size of a flash movie on a Mac? (Intel)
Info will tell you the pixel size of a quicktime, but not a
flash mov. Nor is there a way to check the size with Sorensen
    player.

Though the image should probably be adjusted in contrast and uploaded at larger res to increase the chances of identification...

  • Resizing Flash Movie to Size of Site

I am developing a html Web site with a flash intro
and need help because I am learning all over again, not having done
    it in 3 years.
The screen is to start out white and fade to silver, which I
did quite nicely after many frustrating moments of relearning and
conditioning and realized it was quite simple. The movie is 600x400
and I developed the site at 1028x768 with my html layer for the
    site at: <div id="Layer1" style="position:absolute; left:125px;
    top:7px; width:686px; height:623px; z-index:1">. The flash movie
    layer is: <div id="Layer1" style="position:absolute; left:128px;
    top:-68px; width:602px; height:424px; z-index:1"> which I
changed to the html one and it did not work.
Then I went back to Flash and tried to change the movie size.
Well that was a trip. The stage is somehow off center to the right
and when I used the hand to move it, it did not work
Anyway, what I am trying to do is start the page off with a
white background full screen and have the flash movie start out as
white with a black dot and then fade to silver until the dot turns
into the logo. The flash movie does this, but I can't figure out
how to put it on the first page so when viewed the user will only
see the movie and not the movie with a white background. Also can't
figure what glitched when I was playing with it to get the stage
    off centered.
If you want to see the movie, I can show you and please no
jokes because the item my friend is selling is a bit different but
    highly used
    Thank you in advance...StarShine

Am I missing something or your long story has nothing to do
with "Resizing Flash Movie to Size of Site"?
If you want your flash file to be displayed full
size in browser window try setting the "width" and "height"
parameters in "object" and "embed" tag to "100%".

  • Flash movie file size rather large?!

just created my first flash movie, but it is 25 mins long and
    is 264mb in size!
is this normal, or can i get this file size down some how
without reducing the length of the movie or the quality where it is
    not reasonable.
I have seen stuff on myspace and seen movie longer and the
quality is fair good, but does the files size have to be this much,
if so myspace must have 100000000 of gigs !!!
    any advise is appreaciated.

    hi again.
i have just saved the SWF file and when i play it, it does
not show the whole movie, it only shows about 80% of it length and
    height.
what i mean by this is the following...
for example.. this is the whole movie screen size
but i only get this size
the right size and botton parts of the movie are cropped off
    the screen
i have just uploading it to my site to test it out there too,
and the same thing happen there.
    www.roundshaw.com/swf
does anyone know why does it not show the whole movie?
please advise what i should do next to fix this.
i have looked at the help files but have no idea where to
look as i do not know exactly what problem i am looking for in the
    files.
    thanks

  • Read flash movie size from file

    hi,
does anybody know how i can read the display size of a flash movie (i can access the movie thru an input stream)? i know flash doesn't have a fixed size but i'm pretty sure it should have something like a default size though.
    thakns for help,
    marco

You could parse the HTML the flash file is shown in and get it's size.
But I looked through a Flash 4 file I have, and I don't find the size that I know I designed it to be written anywhere in it. It was a quick run-through of the file, though, so I could be wrong. But it would make sense since it's essentially vector graphics, so size isn't important.

  • Flash Movie export with Keynote

Hi, I am using Keynote this time mainly to make a Flash movie for a website. However, when I export the movie to SWF format, the file is quite large (About 9mb) too large for use online.
Does anyone know, is there a way to reduce this filesize? I looked to see if it is possible to make the canvas smaller than 800x600, as I only really need it to be about 500x400. Didn't see a place to make it smaller than 800x600.
Any reccomendations would be great, thanks.

There is a program that reduces flash file sizes
    http://www.eltima.com/products/flash-optimizer-mac/
It compresses the file size, not sure if it resizes the dimensions

  • Open browser window within flash movie

I've read several GetURL tutorials. They all open a new
window. I want to open the URL within the flash movie.
I would also like to specify the size and location. Just like
a photo gallery, but instead of loading an image (or movieclip) I
want it to load the URL. Can Flash do this? Can some brave and
generous soul show me the way? Thanks!

Let's make it a 100%. It isn't possible - the way you imagine
    at least it isn't.
You could try to work around with css-layers and flash
javascript communication, but this wont be very reliable. Cotting
up you flash and using an i-frame would be more reliable, but also
    not really fun to do.

  • How can HTML call a Flash movie?

    Greetings Everyone!
I'm sincerely hoping that someone has the answer for me. I'm
a newbie, but trying so very hard to understand... :) I've read
books, pages & pages of this forum, 'net searches - I haven't
found a complete answer to my challenge so far - thanks in advance
for any help you can give...
    Here's where things are:
    1) I've created a series of swf Flash movies that loop (at a
particular size so they can play inside of an html table cell)
    2) I've created html buttons in another cell
    What I'm trying to do:
    1) Like a swap file in HTML (where you click a button and an
image changes elsewhere on the page, click another button, and that
image swaps to a different image file)
I want to have a flash movie play on a click of a button, click
another button, and a different flash movie plays in the same
    spot.
The challenge is the interaction between Dreamweaver and
Flash and getting HTML to talk to Flash.
Here's the code direction I've been heading ...
    ...IN MY HTML code...
I have a onMouseClick event for each button link. In this
code I set some variable names inside it.
    onMouseClick="setFlashVariables('sendmovie','myMovie=activeMovie1')"
---- this would be for button 1.
    onMouseClick=
    "setFlashVariables('sendmovie','myMovie=activeMovie2')" ---- this
    would be for button 2
    onMouseClick
    ="setFlashVariables('sendmovie','myMovie=activeMovie3')" ---- this
    would be for button 3
Basically, I'm setting a 'myMovie' variable to 'activeMovie1'
or 'activeMovie2' or 'activeMovie3' when one of the buttons is
    clicked.
If 'myMovie' variable is equal to 'activeMovie1' by clicking
a link, this will tell a flash movie: (" Hey flash! Variable
'myMovie' is equal to 'activeMovie1'. Act accordingly."). When the
2nd button is clicked, 'myMovie' will be equal to 'activeMovie2'
    and so on.
I need to declare the 'myMovie' variable in my flash movie -
    how do I do that?
    ...IN FLASH...
    1. I need to create one variable which will act as a variable
receiver from HTML. (What I called "myMovie")
    2. I gather I need to create an IF statement so that
"myMovie" is set to which "activeMovie" ( it could be
    activeMovie1/activeMovie2/activeMovie3 etc ) ,
    ----->Question:
Where should the IF statement be and
    How should it be written?
Admittedly I don't know Action Script 3 very well.
if myMovie is equal to "activeMovie1"
then load a movie. (This movie will be a movie related to my
    1 Button.)
else if myMovie is equal to "activeMovie2"
then load a movie. ((This movie will be a movie related to
    your 2 Button.)
else if myMovie is equal to "activeMovie3"
then load a movie. ((This movie will be a movie related to
    your 3 Button.)
    Here's where I'm stuck....
    1) If I've already made my movies into swf files where does
    an IF statement go?
    2) I'm missing the mechanics of how to connect the dots here
    - how do I get button 1 to load movie 1 and start playing
automatically? When I click button 2, movie 1 is replaced by movie
    2 and starts playing automatically.
    It's a detailed explanation (I know) - I'm hoping someone has
an answer for me that's equally explicit. Thanks so much much for
taking the time to read it!!

    Anybody?

  • Is there a way to open swf's within a flash movie

i want to change my website so that when you click a button
on the flash movie it opens up a swf file in the flash but i want
the swf to be in a seperate file from the flash, is this possible,
    if so how?

very possible and very widely used for years - and a very
well documented feature - it is called
loadMovie - hit F1 and search the AS help docs for it - or go

  • Slow Flash movies in Safari and Firefox

This issue started right after the software update of Safari 3.2.1 (from 3.2). I'm totally lost, because it does not make any sense to me. The performance on Flash websites with either Safari or Firefox, is extremely slow and stuttering. Fade-ins and outs are no longer smooth, I can even HEAR their "calculating".
What confuses me most is the fact that watching my self-created Flash movies as swf files is perfectly fast and smooth. As soon as they are being viewed in a browser, local on the computer or on a web server, they are slow.
Here's what I already did, and it got somewhat better, but not back to how it was before the software update:
    - reset safari, empty cache.
    - uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Adobe Flash Player plug in.
    - repair disk permissions
    - add DNS codes
    - I even upgraded the RAM's to the PB's max of 2GB
Anybody got any ideas? I was thinking it might be the video card. But why would the Flash movie show smooth as an swf file but not in a browser?? And why was everything OK before the update?
I read that the video card is part of the logic board. Is it possible to exchange that at all?? This is what's installed: ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, VRAM 64 MB.
Thanks in advance for any inputs!!

I figured out the problem/cure. I had help, though not from this website... However, I thought I'm going to post the solution here, in case someone else is experiencing the same problem! It turned out that it was not the update to the latest Safari (3.2.1), but the latest Adobe Flash player version (10) that caused the bug. Apparently older Mac's (I'm using the 1.5 GHz PowerBook G4 aluminum) cannot handle the latest technology of Flash player 10.
I uninstalled the plugins, using Adobe's Flash player uninstaller, downloaded the Flash player 9 folder here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=2 and installed version 9.0.151.0. Repair disk permissions. That's it. Everything is back to normal!!
If this was helpful to anybody, I'll be happy to hear from you!

  • Flash movie not displayed correctly in IE 8 on some Windows OS

    Has anyone seen this problem?
I'm using CS4 to export a basic flash movie with embed tags pre scripted...
And the issue is that on some OS systems using Vista or Windows 7 and IE 8 as a primary browser, it appears that IE 8 is not displaying the flash banner completely.... its CROPPING it off... This is very strange because the banner works fine in FireFox, IE7,Opera,Chrome but not I.E.8 on some OS systems...
If you google "Flash not displaying correctly in IE 8" you'll get alot of people with the same issues but no real definate fix...
Are there any suggestions as to what i could try?
Do i need different flash embed tags? Or is this a user issue?
Please Advise as soon as possible...
    Thanks

I'm sorry, i forgot to explain that I didn't upload the flash published html because it did and produced the exact same results.
The flash published still got cropped off on 1 vista os(I.E 8) running from a laptop and 1 windows 7(I.E. 8) latop os...
Its good to hear that you're able to see it clearly... however in my QA efforts, i've been asked to fix the issue or drop the flash banner all together.
I've tried every which way, i've even converted the embed tags (not uploaded by the way) to a js script and it STILL gets cropped of on 2 ie8 run OS systems...
And now i'm not sure what else to try on my end.
I'm currious if because this is an XML driven flash banner, this may be an issue? But it still doesn't explain why some people can see this in IE 8 as you can and others get a cropped banner like in my screen shot sample.
Again i invite everyone in the forum to take a look at the sample links, as i'd be curious to see who else is seeing this.
By the way "kglad" Thank you so much... please keep the suggestions coming... but everything you've suggested, i've tried.
This is very perplexing. Is this a setting issue? or is there some setting on the user side i'm not aware of? Either way, as usual... the flash developer is blamed so i must find a solution.

  • Need some advice on how to make this Flash movie

I have 5 flash movies which are all exported swf files from Camtasia. Now I have to design a Flash movie which has 5 Icons on a blank screen which point to each of these movies. When the user clicks on one movie the exported swf from Camtasia should play and when its finished it shoudl go back to Main Menu page.
    a) Is it possible to include a controllable progress bar for a SWF movie
I am just looking for advice , like do this and do that. I shall try and write the code myself.
    cheers

You may find the VideoPlayer class helpful:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/fl/video/VideoPlayer.html#includ eExamplesSummary
There's some sample code there which shows you how to put a video player on a movie and play something.  You would just need to add some buttons and stuff.  That example is Actionscript 3.  Things will be different if you have an older version of Flash.

  • Is there a better way to position a flash movie than ap div?

I'm creating a new website(not yet active) and have a great flash movie for the home page.  I've place it in an ap div and of course it moves to a different position in different browsers. Is there any way I can get it to display correctly, or is there a better way to position the movie? Thanks.

Of course. The following code is for the home page:
