Possible to recover photos deleted in an iOS retore?

Alright, so my boyfriend's iPhone 3GS screwed up on him earlier today, and deleted all his contacts. I told him to plug his phone into his MacBook, and accidently said "and it should restore your contacts." He misheard me, and did an actual restore. Whoops.
He also had never backed up ANY of his photos. Which I'm not sure why, since he's had similar issues in the past.
ANYWAY, now he's freaking out, since he had several very important photos. I'm just wondering what all, if anything, can be done to recover these photos?
Please, nothing about being careful in the future, or backing stuff up. I've already gotten on him about that, and this time I think he'll learn. What we need is a way, any possible way, to recover these lost photos. Photostream was NOT on, from what I can tell (we don't live together, so I can't physically look at his phone).
Apologies if this post isn't in the right place.

I know there's software that can recover "deleted" photos (photos that are technically deleted, but their data has yet to be overwritten). What I'm wondering is, does the restore process delete, and write over, the data of these photos? Cause, if not, then maybe something can be done to recover them.

  • Is it possible to recover a deleted (unsynced) file from iphone 4s

I have an iPhone 4s 5.1.  I deleted a file yesterday and I would like to recover it from the flash drive.
I know that files can be recovered from flash drives! I have done it before. Unfortunately the software I used before will not recognise the iPhone as a drive of any kind flash, external or hard!
I have not synced the phone either by iCloud or physically to my PC since deleting, so recovery is not possible via iTunes.
I have a PC so I am unable to use 3rd party software such that only works on MACs (disc drill for example)
What I am getting at is, can it be done? I am not sure it can unless it is possible for my PC to see the iPhones flash drive as a PC recognisable (for want of a better word) flash drive!
I have also tired other 3rd party software that CLAIMS it can recover lost/deleted files from an iPhone but guess what…….. Yep, all of them are unable to see the flash drive of my phone.
So, is there a PC owner out there that has successfully recovered a deleted files from an iPhone?

I want to know if you have backed up those files to iCloud before? If you did, you can just connect your iPhone 6 with the computer which have FonePaw iPhone Data Recovery software and scan your iPhone to find out iCloud backups.
iPhone Data Recovery can recover deleted photos, videos, messages, contacts, call history, notes, etc. from iTunes & iCloud. You can restore iPhone from iCloud quickly. Hope you can solve this issue.

  • Is it possible to recover a deleted folder and its contents as opposed to an individual file?

When I turned on my computer today, a folder located on my desktop is no longer there.  Astounded I could have accidentally deleted it, the folder having been trashed is the only illogical logical possibility I can think of - and is a first for me in my 30 years of Mac use.  My father is in the process of dying and the folder contains all the information coming to me on the subject.  The last backup of this folder is about a week old and much has been added since for which I've no record.
Not having a master document or table of contents listing what was in the folder leaving me unable to search for and recover individual files/documents by name, my question is this:  Is it possible to recover a "FOLDER", and its contents after that folder has been moved from the desktop to the trash, the trash emptied, and the computer having been shut down?
If anyone has any ideas of how to recover anything about what items that folder contained, I'd really appreciate whatever thoughts you might have.
    Thanks in advance -
The computer this folder is missing from is a early 2008 MacPro, running 10.7.5.

I'm not sure what you can do beyond trying to restrict the types of files you search for. These apps normally have ways to select the file types or to add example files. That allows them to carve out only those types, but you still may end up with GB's of data, especially if the types are somewhat generic. I don't know of any tools that can undo changes to the disk catalog over time.
I guess you could also search for specific text if you know that these files contained something that is 'almost unique'. Spotlight can do that, or grep, egrep are command line tools that may help ask if you want to go that route, they may help you gather lists to move files around to whittle them down.
Sorry I can't think of a way around this it's a difficult task at a difficult time. Good luck with it, ask if you think we could help.
I do wonder if Apples 'Versions' could help?
OS X Lion: About Auto Save and Versions - Apple Support
@Tony T1, do you know how to restore files from that system? I think it is part of Time Machine, but the copies are saved locally.
It is not entirely clear how it works (at least from my memory of Lion) with regards to how you could get files back in this situation. The database should be at the base of the disk in a hidden folder ".DocumentRevisions-V100", but I don't think you can just pull files out of there. Personally I'd consider making a full disk backup before you attempt to restore files. Then you could try the 'Enter Time Machine' UI to see if it can browse back to the older Desktop.

  • How to recover photos deleted in ipad

help ! i've deleted photos in my ipad, how can i recover them ?

If you didn't backup your files they're lost. If you had them already during the last synchronization, restoring from the previous backup could help, but of course you'd lose anything you've added since then.

  • Can you recover photos deleted by iPhoto?

I uploaded hundreds of holiday pics then deleted them from my camera now they have gone from iphoto does anyone know if i can recover them?

If your iPhone had been synced since the photos were avaialble in the Camera Roll and your iPhone was not synced again since the photos were deleted from the Camera Roll, you can restore your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup - or you can try since this is no guarantee. Photos are included with your iPhone's backup but if there is a problem in regards to this data with your iPhone's backup or with the backup in general which includes a significant amount of other data, the photos may not be restored with the backup.
Since you have synced your iPhone with iTunes since the photos were deleted from the Camera Roll, your iPhone's backup was updated to reflect the photos no longer being avaialble in the Camera Roll.
Photos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer ASAP as with any other digiital camera.

  • How do I recover photos deleted from the memory card?

If you don't have any sucess with the free programs available Sandisk Rescue Pro can be downloaded for a test & if it finds the missing / damaged files you can then pay the licensing fee & retrieve your photos. I have used Rescue Pro more than once with excellent results. (Bailed out friends & relatives who either pulled the cable out while downloading or who formatted in camera by accident). Rescue Pro found files burried from more than 1 in camera format & reuse. Lexar also has a very good program for this but I don't remember it's name.  .

You can try to google about how to recover deleted photos on your memory card:
Access a USB port to connect your camera to your computer and recover deleted pictures
on your memory card. Download a photo recovery program for memory cards. Run the program by double clicking on the downloaded executable file and clicking "Run". Choose the drive containing the deleted picture files from the available card reader drives or camera drives in the pull-down menu. Indicate the location on your computer where you want the recovered files to be stored. Begin the restoration process by clicking on "Start." Or you can use Photo Recovery to recover deleted photos.

I accidentally moved several photos/videos to the trash can on my phone.  I haven't deleted them permanently from the trash can (not even sure if this is an
option, just used to this type of setting on my computer).  Once a photo has been moved to the trash can, is it recoverable or is it gone?  I can't find a way
to get to the trash contents to see what is there and undelete.  I hope this is an option!  Thx.

Only if you backed them up prior to trashing them.

  • Is it possible to recover photos from iPhone backup?

I bought an iPhone 5 and had to upgrade the OS on my Mac before I could sync with iTunes. I used the phone for a week before I was able to upgrade. After the upgrade I connected the phone to iTunes and restored from the last backup of my iPhone 3GS. All my apps, contacts, photos, songs, etc. restored perfectly to the new phone but I forgot to get the new photos out before the restore.
I think I already know the answer but is there anyway there's some sort of backup saved on my computer that will allow me to retrieve those new photos that I took before I restored the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 3GS. I never did a sync with iTunes. I just connected and clicked restore.
Did it magically backup what was on the phone before I restored? I can dream, can't I?

Thanks but with the free version i can see some files, but i have to pay hundred bucks for being able to restore???
And i am not sure if it is those one :-(
Anyway thank you for your quick answer

  • Can I recover a deleted iMessage from my iphone

Is it possible to recover a deleted imessage from your phone ? What about a photo ? I know emails are in the trash and can be recovered but the others are not so I wondered if they are somewhere I do not know. Thank You Fran

You can recover your iMessage directly from your iPhone.
However, since it has been such a long time, your deleted message can be rewrittened by other data.
That's very pitiful. If you tried iPhone Data Recovery before, you can get your iMessage back.
It just takes 3 steps to recover deleted iMessage.
Step 1 Connect your Device and Choose the Recovery Mode
Step 2 Enter DFU Mode and Scan for Deleted iMessage
Step 3 Preview and Recover lost iMessage

  • Recover a deleted Session

    Hello.
I need, I really really need to recover a deleted session in SM35. I have already read some threads about it in this forum and the answers is "No!, if you delete a session in SM35 you've lost it".
If I didn't really need to recover this session I wouldn't make that question but,
¿Is possible to recover a delete session?
Thanks for your time, I hope that you'll help me.

Since my ABAP team usually helps me with my SM35 questions, and this seems very technical, you may want to post this question at  ABAP Development » ABAP, General   -  there are a lot of great answers there to SM35 questions
