Possible to reduce leading by 1 pt?

I'm wrestling with all kinds of ways to tweak a text block to fit a space in a Photoshop document. The one thing I'd really like is the ability to reduce leading by one point, less that the default of 2 pts via the keyboard shortcuts. Tips?

Make the CHARACTER panel visible via the Window - Character menu.  You'll see lots of options in there, including I believe the ability to use fractions (e.g., 0.8 pt).
Another possibility is to use Edit - Transform on the text and shrink it to fit by dragging the handles.

  • Is it possible to reduce the web page to fit the window? Therefore loosing the need for the side bar sliders

Although I have two screens I still need to keep my windows quite small and I was wondering if it was possible to automatically reduce the size of the web page to match the size of the available space in the window instead of having side bars sliders so if I needed to read text then I could just increase the window size and the web page would expand accordingly.

  • Is it possible to remove leading 0's?

If I have a column called id_inst in tableA of type String
and having a value of 0000203,is it possible to remove
    the leading zeroes from it?
    Select LTRIM(id_inst, ??
    Is this possible?

There is of course no need to strip leading zeroes before storing a numeric value into a number datatype since Oracle will not store leading zeroes anyway.
How a numeric value retrieved from the database is display is completely under the control of the requester via the to_char function:
    UT1 > select fld2, to_char(fld2,'009') as c2, to_char(fld2,'999.99') as c3
    2 from marktest;

  • Is it possible to reduce/edit the size of the imported video file?

    Hello,
I noticed the other day that I am nearing half full on my terabyte hard drive. In reflecting on what is on that drive, it occurred to me that there's a lot of footage that was ultimately never used.
I was wondering whether there is a way to reduce the size of those files after they've been transferred from the camera? It's not that I want to delete the entire file, rather just get rid of some of the footage that was never used, or after closer examination (sound, movement, etc.) will never be used.
    - note* I know this should be done in advance, prior to logging and capturing, but sometimes that bad footage slips through.
    Thanks.

    RT is correct.

It's for FCP4, but the basic concepts are the same in FCP6, with some minor changes in the step-by-step. Read it for the conceptual understanding, then break open your FCP6 manual for the current procedures.

  • Is it possible to reduce the size of a single image on a slide now in keynote 6.0?

This feature seems to have disappeared in the update and the only option is to reduce the whole file size..
    Thanks!

    Hi Gary
Sorry should have been clearer - I mean reduce size of the image in byte terms not resize. In keynote 09 you could use format>image>reduce size fo rthe slected image only.
It was a better way of just dealing with a specific bloated image rather than reducing the resolution of images throughout.

  • Is it possible to reduce the number of HTTP calls when using a ReportViewer control?

My application is written in .Net 4 using Visual Studio 2010 (version 10 of the ReportViewer control). The report in question contains a lot of data in the dropdowns used for parameter selection. For example, one dropdown contains 95k options and another
uses 24k options (I know this is bad design, but we need to keep it as-is for this release). When I use Fiddler to profile the report, I see that it makes a lot of HTTP calls and a majority return the same dataset. There are three phases of loading data. Each
one initiates a series of HTTP calls.
Loading the initial header with the filter controls (dropdowns, textboxes, etc).
Changing one of the dropdowns that has a dependent dropdown (start date/end date)
Loading the final report after clicking the View Report button
In total, 13 HTTP calls are made and 10 of those are returning the same 10MB of data. The final report only returns 13 records, but the whole process of loading the report filters, changing report filters and loading the report require 130MB of data to be
exchanged. This is an extreme example, but we do have other reports that are doing the same with smaller amounts of data.
My question: is there any way to modify the ReportViewer or the SSRS server to reduce the number of calls? Is this related to ViewState? Please understand that I am new to Reporting Services and have a lot to learn.

    Hi rodeofive,
As per my understanding, the issue is a performance issue. And it is caused by there are thousands of values in the drop-down list of parameters in the report.
To work around this issue, I suggest you should make some changes in the report. For example, we can add additional two parameters with multiple keywords ahead, one for the dropdown contains 95k options, another for dropdown contains 24k options. Then all
of available values which are begin with the keywords will display in the parameter list. In this scenario, we can create cascading parameters. One is a keyword parameter, and the other parameter is the drop-down list that based on the keyword to display the
    available values.
For more details about the method, please refer to the following FAQ:

  • Possible to reduce the amount of white space in thumbnail view?

Hi, after following these directions to generate large thumbnail views, there is still a lot of white space surrounding the thumbnails - I'm wondering if this could be significantly diminished, to allow more images, closer together.
    thanks
    1. Open a folder containing images
    2. Hit Command-F, then select the folder instead of the idiotic default This Mac in Find toolbar
    3. From the View toolbar item select Icon
    4. For the criterion select Kind Images All
    5. At the bottom right corner of the window there is a size slider, use it to make them any size you want, they seem to max out around 450 pixels, which is a pretty fair size

While Apple appears to making the transition to 512x512 thumbs, there are only a few things that currently have icons of that size. Most are 128x128, so even though it is possible to do a hack to make Finder display larger thumbs, it is actually pretty pointless as most icons just get bigger and jaggier.
What happens with the Saved Search is that Finder does not use the "regular" icons, but draws its own from the file, and thus you get thumbs up to what will, one day, be the new standard of 512. AFAIK the only way to access these is thru the Saved Search, and, as you discovered, there is no adjustment for grid spacing in the Saved Search window.

  • Possible to reduce default noise reduction?

It seems like Aperture applies a considerable amount of noise reduction to images during raw decoding. The good part is that skies and even-toned parts of the image look very clean. The downside is that some textures take on a plasticy appearance. There are certain images where I'd rather have the extra noise. Is it possible to turn down the strength of this noise reduction? I've tried turning off auto noise compensation and futzing with the moire slider to no avail. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

  • Possible firmware problem leading to bricked fingerprint reader on T530

I tried to send this through support channels but they told me there was no way to reach any developers through phone support.  One guy said the developers do read the forums so I am posting this here.
Basically this is what happened: (twice!)
I had pre-boot fingerprint authentication and also swipe to power on enabled on my T530.
Everything worked great until I wanted to be sure I discharged the battery all the way by letting the machine power off from a low battery. The way I did this on previous laptops was to just run memtest86 or something until the battery ran out. but since I use the laptop in UEFI only mode memtest86 doesn't work. so I used the built in lenovo memory diagnostics.  after the laptop powered off. I turned it on again. and it quickly powered back off. Afterwards the fingerprint reader refused to work for anything other than power on and refused to be connected to by the Lenovo fingerprint software.
I originally thought this was because I had turned it back on and the system was talking to the fingerprint reader as part of start up and didn't complete since the power went right back off again..
that is until I managed to break my replacement fingerprint reader. This time I just ran the memory diagnostics as before until it turned itself off. (and didn't try to turn it back on right afterwards) This time it also bricked the fingerprint reader in such a way that caused it to keep connecting and disconnecting from the USB bus somehow.
My theory is that either the UEFI firmware or the embedded system controller is not finishing the conversation with the UPEK touchchip that puts it into the low power swipe to power on mode when the battery is critically low and is causing the device firmware to become confused (the fingerpritn reader is not just a dumb reader, instead it's basically a small embedded computer). It's very easy to re-produce this problem. and I wish I had a way to just submit a bug report to someone instead of posting to a forum.
I now have a working fingerprint reader and I've disabled swipe to power on, hoping that this wont come up again. (I'm also going to avoid doing the memory test until power off thing too obviously...) Still I think it would be a simple fix to make sure it doesn't attempt to talk to the fingerprint reader as part of shutdown if the battery is low.
I still have the other 2 fingerprint readers if anyone at Lenovo wants to take a look at the state this leaves them in (although it should be very easy to re-produce this in house)
aside from this I'm very happy with my Thinkpad and I plan on getting an extended warranty and to also make my next laptop a thinkpad as well (assuming they don't do someting stupid like get rid of the trackpoint/trackpoint mouse buttons or decide to start making the thinkpad small and flimsy)

Yes I tried that. I also even did research into the upek (now owned by authentec) chip and found a dagnostics utility that also pretty much confirmed that the chip was failing to communicate. (and gave the same information that the lenovo fingerprint reader gave me) The. First one I killed could be seen but was stuck in the swipe to power on mode and wanted to be authenticated to somehow (error is could not authenticate pasport) before it would do anything else. And both the firmware and the fingerprint software had no luck doing so.
The second one I killed behaved differently, It shows up on the usb bus for a few seconds and then dissconnects and then does it all over again forever. In both cases I believe the firmware inside the fingerprint reader is being confused in a a way that is persistent across power cycles. Replacing the reader restores normal operation again. i didnt bother with thee diagnostics tool the second time incase you think I killed them with that. This time around it had problems booting and had to lift up the keyboard and unplug the cable from the palmrest, reboot and disable the fingerprint reader port before plugging the cable back in to restore normal operation to my system. otherwise it would boot only part of the time. (you could also disable pre-boot fingerprint support and it would also boot fine but then you would see a steady log of it attaching and detacthing in both windows and linux, which ofcourse is annoying)
I have saved those two parts and will ship them to you if you want to look at them.
I seem to have a knack of running into strange corner cases like this since I always seem to use my computers/software just different enough from the averge person to run into things the developers didn't consider.
I have no idea if this thing can happen any other way than the system powering off inside the memory test utility. but I would bet it is possible in other cases and might as well be looked into.
I would bet when you try to re-produce it that it can only be re-produced with the swipe to power on feature enabled. am also pretty sure that what my guess is is likely correct, that when the system forces itself off with a low battery either the UEFI firmware, or some embedded controller talks to the chip to enable the swipe to power on feature and it's powering off before the fingerprint reader is ready when the battery is critically low, screwing up the state of the firmware on the fingerprint reader chip.  when I was doing searching around I was really hoping there was some vendor tool that could reset the chip, but no such luck at least nothing that's public. UPEK was bought out by authentec and a lot of their site no longer exists, authentec also seems to be bought out by digital persona and shut down much of the authentec site as well, and seem to be only licensing the IP of authentec to certain people.

    emusik,
I am afraid that is something that may become an option in the future; as far as I know it is not there in CS5 either.
You may send a feature request for the option of setting the number of decimals.

  • How do I reduce the MTU on my Airport Extreme Ethernet connection?

    Hi there,
Is it possible to reduce the MTU on the Ethernet connection inside the Airport Extreme Base station. I was having trouble accessing some websites, but was able to fix it on a direct ethernet connection by reducting the MTU setting to below 1500. However, when I connect wirelessly ( I have a DSL modem connected to the WAN port of an Airport Extreme Base station), I still have the same problem, but there seems to be nowhere in the Admin utility where I can reduce the MTU for the connection.
Anyone know a work around for this?
    Thanks

Don't know if this will help, but if you use cocktail there is a place under "Network" where you can change the mtu setting for the machine you are using. I also remember seeing some info on this in the unix support group here in the forums.

  • LEADING ZERO IN MONTH

    Hi,
is there any possibility of adding leading zero for month column in query output without writing ABAP CODE.

    Thanks,

    Hi,
is it possible that u mean to eleminate the leading "zero" of a KF text variable?
If yes, u can do this with the following steps:
    1. Go to query designer -> select your text variable
    2. Edit variable -> replacement path
    3. Section Offset settings-> edit offset start and offset lenght
I dont know how 0Month is displayed, but with these two u can define at which point u the offset starts and how many text digits u want to display.
For ex. 0FISCPER is displayed 0012008 normally, if u set offset start as 2 and offset lenght as 5 the result is 12008
    Hope it helps
