Possible to restore iOS (7) with saved SHSH Blobs?

Hello.
I currently own an iPod Touch 5th Generation running iOS 7.1.1 (I never bothered upgrading to 7.1.2 while Apple still signed that firmware). With the latest installment of iOS (8.1), A5 devices such as the iPhone 4s, iPad 2nd Generation, and even the iPod Touch 5th Gen are known to function poorly, given that iOS 8 is optimized for newer hardware.
What I am wondering is, should I need to restore my iPod Touch, the latest software will automatically be installed - giving no option to decline the update without halting the restore. I have managed to save iOS 7.1.1 SHSH blobs, which I understand are per-requisites to downgrading an iDevice's software (or at least once were). Would I be able to downgrade iOS 8(.1) to 7.1.1 with the saved SHSH file (if my iPod ever did update to iOS 8 for whatever reason) or would a downgrade require more than an SHSH, such as an APTicket?
Any help would be much appreciated - whether it is a yes or no answer.
Thanks.

All I can say in the Apple forum is that Apple does not support downgrading the iOS. If yo restore you will go to iOS 8.1

  • Any possible way to downgrade ipod software with no "shsh blobs" please?

I have an iPod touch 4th generation with ios 6.1.3. When I first got it, it had ios 5 and I really miss it. I miss it for the nit-picky things, like the old silver status bar, old settings icon (was glossier), old App Store and itunes design, rounded edges on the keyboard etc. I don't have "shsh blobs" so i can't downgrade the traditional way. I can understand why apple doesn't want us to downgrade but do they really need to force me to stick with something I don't prefer and not allow me to go back to the way I like it with ios 5? Why did Apple create shsh blobs? Was it a security thing? All I know is that I want to downgrade to ios 5 for the old look and feel that I prefer, and everything is making it impossible to do so. I don't mean to be a whiner but I feel really nostalgic for ios 5 and I want to go back. Is it possible to downgrade without the .shsh files? Or is there any way to create the shsh files or get them somehow?

All we can say in this Apple forum is that downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple

  • Is it possible to Manage iOS apps with Lion Server

I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not it's possible to manage (add and remove) iOS apps using Lion Server, specifically apps available via the app store rather than apps built for internal use? I can't seem to see a way of doing it using profile manager but was wondering if I was maybe missing something?
    Thanks

The answer to this would appear to be no.

  • Is it possible to restore iOS 6.X.X after upgrading to iOS 7.X.X

I'm intrested in the UI of iOS 6.X.X, as I dont like the UI of iOS 7.0.2. I would like to change it back for sometime atleast.

Sorry, No. Apple does not provide a way to go back to previous versions of iOS.

  • How do save SHSH blobs and how do you retrieve them?

I have installed IOS 6 and find that it is draining my battery twice as fast as IOS 5.1.1.
I do not like the way it changed the search for APPS in store when you get over 100 replies it takes too long to go through them.
The settings area has changed and is getting too big or not well organized i.e. the new privacy area.
So I was looking into downgrading back to IOS 5.1.1 but it seems not possible if one did not save the SHSH blobs whatever they are.
So can anyone help me on this

... I didn't know that Time Machine was more a last resort back up instead of main back up.
Don't rely upon Time Machine to the exclusion of all else. I compliment Time Machine with a periodic "clone". TM is much better than nothing, but it's a safety net, not a hammock
Here is my understanding of Time Machine's file deletion algorithm, distilled from Pondini's FAQ, Apple's KB articles, and my own observations.
Time Machine deletes ("thins") files from the backup disk as follows:
Hourly backups over 24 hours old, except the first backup of the day
Daily backups over 30 days old, except the first backup of the week
Older backups get deleted when Time Machine requires space and you deleted them from the source disk.
Therefore, assuming TM has been performing at least one backup per day, backup files will remain available:
at least thirty days, if they existed on your Mac for at least a day
until you run out of space, if they existed on your Mac for at least a week
In addition to the above, Time Machine always keeps one complete copy of your source disk so that the entire volume could be restored if necessary. Any files that remain on your source volume will be present on the TM backup, no matter how old they are.
If you are using 250 GB of space on your source disk, its Time Machine backups are likely to require at least twice that much. A good estimate of the minimum required backup volume size would be about three times the size of your source disk - 1.5 TB in your case.
A more thorough explanation would require Pondini since he has plumbed Time Machine's mysteries far more than I have.

Delete the pairing and then re-pair the devices.
There are no supported methods to downgrade the iOS.

  • ITunes can not restore iOS 5.1.1 backup on iOS 6.0 with iPhone 4S

I have created two backups of my iPhone 4S under iOS 5.1.1 befor upgrading to iOS6.0. The upgrade with iTunes 10.7 gave a dozen error messages but eventually iOS 6.0 was installed. But all SMS Messages are gone, all apps and their data, ...
I tried a restore (synch) of the two backups. None complets. The one just hangs before completion forever. The other one report close to completion "because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone that is being restored".
I have saved both backups, tried with another Windows PC and iTunes there (transfeeered the backup files) with the same problem.
Also the Windows PC becomes unstable after the iTunes restore. It reports "low on memory resources" (I habe GBs) and applications wont start. I have to reboot to get a stable system again. iTunes behaves like a virus.

    Jailbreaking is not supported here.

  • If I turned off picture backup on iPhone, is it possible to restore the pictures saved before the settings change?

    Hi,
Anyone know if iCloud keeps older backups?
If I turned off picture backup on iPhone, is it possible to restore the pictures saved before the settings change?
    Thanks.

No. but restoring from backup will if hey are in a backup
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I cannot download the IOS 5 with Itunes to update my iphone 4. I dont want to restore the iphone because I am afraid that the itunes cannot download the ios 5 and then I will be with no iphone.

I cannot download the IOS 5 with Itunes. Always appear this message ( err= -3259) what can I do to solve this problem?

It's a connection timeout error. Google for a copy of iOS 5.0.1 and download it to your computer. Prepare to restore your iPhone but hold down Option (Mac) or Shift (Windows) when clicking Restore to bring up an explorer where you can manually install iOS 5.0.1 on your device, since you do not require a full download from the Apple Servers other than to verify your iOS build being installed.
