Possible to run iMovie 6 HD and iMovie 5?

Is there a way to have both versions of iMovie on my mac? I've tried installing the older version of iMovie from the 2 OS disks that came with the computer that also contain bundled software, and when I try to do a custom installation and choose only iMovie, its grayed-out so I can't. Is there any way to do this?

Hi Jeff - you will need to rename your current iMovie HD to 'iMovie HD6' or similar. Then I think IM5 should install (I haven't had to try this myself). After installing, name the earlier version with its number, and revert IM6 to its original name (so that Software Updates will recognise you have the latest iMovie on your computer.)
When about to install a new version, and wanting to retain the previous one, make sure to rename the old on before installing the new, otherwise the new simply replaces the old.

    Hi All,
Just wondering if it is possible to run netflow version 9 and version 5 at the same time (to different destinations) on the same router please?
    Thanks very much

    No Amanda,
we cannot simultaneously configure both versions of NETFLOW on cisco ios. After configuring firstone when you try to configure other version it will override the previously configured version.

  • Is it possible to run LabVIEW 7.1 and 8.5 under the same Windows installation?

We have an older version of LabVIEW (7.1) which includes functionality for Event Notifications and the base version of LV8.3, which does not seem to contain this functionality.
Is it possible to run both of these from the same Windows Installation?  If not I plan to create a new partition and a new Windows installation just to accomodate the two of them.

Something else to consider is windows compatibility. If you are running LabVIEW on Vista, I would highly discourage installation of Lv 7.1 and 8.5 on the same machine (even if they were different partitions), since there are some significant issues in terms harware compatibility.I am running windows 7.1 and 8.2.1 on a test station with no problems, but the OS is Win XP. My biggest gripe about the dual software system is when a v 7.1 files is opened up by 8.2.1. There is not a system to prevent it from happening, and once we accidentally save a 7.1 app in 8.2,1, going back to 7.1 is a big headache.

  • Is it possible to run OPM 10.4 and 10.2 on same PC?

Our team is dealing with rules designed for 10.2, but would like to see if we can leverage some of the new 10.4 debugging and testing features. For various reasons, we can't just update the rulebase and tools to 10.4 for several months, so we are stuck developing in 10.2
I would like to run the two in tandem, if possible, but the installer throws an error demanding that the previous version of OPM be uninstalled.
I understand I might be stuck finding an additional PC to test with, but figured if anyone has tried this, it's worth asking about.

OPM 10.4 and OPM 10.2 can't both be installed on the same instance of Windows. Many people use a virtualization solution like Oracle's VirtualBox to run both versions on the same physical machine.

  • Is it possible to run Go URL SQL and return raw data using Java?

    Hi All,
I just got GO URL SQL working in HTML, when i type the following URL on to the address bar.
    https://odsau.oraclecorp.com/analytics/saw.dll?Go&SQL=select+"MFG Serial Number"."Job Name","MFG Serial Number".Item+from+"Supply Chain Management"
It prints out a table with all the data that query from the database in a HTML page. However, I want to be able to manipulate these data in a JAVA script.
Is there a similar function i can use in Java script and return raw data so i can store them into a variable for data manipulation?
Or is there a work around that someone has already done ?
    Thanks
    John Lau

You can excute SQL statemetns throught JDBC, but that doesn't have a facility to read those statements from a file. You'd have to write code to read the file and create and execute statements through JDBC. That should be pretty straightforward though.
It's conceivable that there's a third party library out there that does it, if you know what to look for.
If you're not familiar with JDBC, check out http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/Database/JDBC20Intro/

  • Is it possible to run Rosetta with LION and if yes, where may i find it ?

J'ai mis en marche Lion et, malheureusement, je ne peux plus utiliser Go LIve, et Ragtime car ils tournaient sous Rosetta .
    Y a-t-il une solution ?

For these situations (Quicken Deluxe 2002, Microsoft Word/Excel 2004, Adobe Photoshop GS), I run Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) in Parallels 7 within Lion.  Installing it in French would be an interesting challenge!

  • Is it possible to run VLM and lmtools on the same machine

hi together ... is it possible to run VLM and lmtools on the same machine without any problems?
the running system will be Windows Server 2008 R2 x64! maybe we will install the license server on the virtual server.

    Hi SvenNittmann,
in general, it should be possible to run both tools (VLM and lmtools for FlexNet) on the same machine. But I wouldn't recommend you this way, because NI VLM is also build on top of FlexNet and sometimes you will receive ugly problems with the installation of both tools on the same PC. It is possible to use VLM in a virtual machine without any problems or restrictions. NI provides information about the usage of VLM in a virtual machine, like you can see here:
Volume License Manager on a Virtual Machine - National Instruments
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/5730FDDC97F9157E8625755F00749CFF?OpenDocument
I also use VLM in a virtual machine and I could recommend you the same solution.

  • Running Both PSE 7 and Photoshop CS4 Trial

Hi, I am new to this forum and would like to ask if it is possible to run both PSE 7 and PS CS4 on the same computer.
I am currently a PS Elements 7 user, and would like try the Photoshop CS 4 trial version, and possibly buy it if I decide that the added features will useful to me.
But I do not want to have to uninstall PSE 7 for this trial period.
Also if I decide to buy PS CS4 then would I be able to keep PSE7 installed also, in case for any reason I want to run it ( eg a friend might ask me a question about PSE7, then I can go and look at that issue on PSE7 on my own computer).
Also, can I run both these programs simultaneously, or is it just one at a time that is possible? That would not be a major problem as long as I could have both installed at the same time.
Any advice on the grounds rules for this, or any caveats etc would be much appreciated, thanks.

Whoa! You can't have 2 or 3 versions of the same app open & running on Windows? I find that limiting.
and Elements isn't even the same app as Photoshop.
You can run both on a Mac.
I never needed to have 2 or 3 versions of the same app open & running but I understand it's not possible on Windows.
I never owned Elements – I was just being cautious.

  • Is it possible to have iMovie HD and iMovie HD 6 installed on the same Mac

While I like some of the video editing features of iMovie HD 6, the problems with the Ken Burns Effect have killed my ability to create slideshows with iMovie. This worked just fine in iMovie HD (version 5.x). Is it possible to have both applications installed on my iMac and run one for slideshow production and the other for video production?
I searched and could not find a thread that addressed this issue. If there is one, the URL will be greatly appreciated.

    Catspaw,
Thank you. I should have thought of this, as I am running iMovie 8 and iMovie HD 6 on an Intel iMac at work. When I installed iMovie HD 6 onto this system (I'm not a fan of the latest incarnation of iMovie), it was put into a "previous version" folder. Since my G4 iMac already has been upgraded to iMovie HD 6, I'll just put iMovie HD 6 into a folder (maybe label it as the "latest version") and then install iMovie HD 5.
Thank you for the insight on the trash emptying messing with the re-editing of photos. If I start a new project using the same photos from iPhoto (I use the media browser within HD 6 to select my photos in my iPhoto library) and never empty the trash until the project is complete, will the problem not appear? Or, does some magic thing tag my iPhotos so that I have to reimport them into iPhoto before using them again in iMovie HD 6?

  • I need assistance in burning an imovie to a DVD.  I've done this before, but am having problems this go around.  When I get to the import section and insert the blank dvd it runs a few seconds and ejects it.  Any ideas?

I am struggling with getting the imovie I just created to burn onto a DVD.  I have done this before, I'm following the tutorial for imovie '09 and it isn't working after several attempts.  Any suggestions?  When I get to the import phase and insert the blank dvd it runs a few seconds and then spits it out.

I bought a 47LA6200 TV and a BP530 blue ray player. I have my cable box hooked up to HDMI 1, I have my blue ray hooked up to HDMI 2, and my XBox 360 to HDMI 3. I have my cable box hooked up to my older JVC RX880V stereo digital optical to digital optical without any 5.1 problems at all.
My TV digital optical out is hooked up to my stereo digital optical port 2 without any 5.1 problems either, sort of.
My BP530 is hooked up to my stereo digital coax to digital coax but I cannot get any 5.1 sound at all. Not through any of the digital channels on the stereo at all.
The player only comes through as standard stereo through all 4 speakers and I am not sure if it is coming through the base speaker at all.
I have tried every setting on both the TV and the blue ray player to no avail. I have even tried to not use the digital on my blue ray but when the stereo is set to play from my tv optical I still don't get 5.1 sound.
When I do not use the TV optical out but I do use the digital coax out from the DVD player I still cannot play my DVDs in 5.1. I have new HDMI 15gbps HDMI cables and a new digital coaxial cable so I don't think it is a cable thing.
The real question is how do I get to hear my blue ray and DVD discs in 5.1 sound? Will this work if I exchange my blue ray player for a Denon 3D blue ray or other player?

  • Is it possible to transfer iMOVIE 11 projects between my iMac and iPad2 so that I can work on projects when I'm away from home?

Is it possible to transfer iMOVIE 11 projects between my iMac and iPad2 so that I can work on projects when I'm away from home?

ARD is totally unnecessary and inapplicable for your scenario. ARD is a Mac OS X application for managing other Macs and is not useful if you want to connect to a Mac from some other OS. Mac OS X has a VNC client build int, so VNC,  or one of the number of other remote control solutions - LogMeIn, for instance, if they offer a Linux version - is where you want to be looking.

  • Why?  Why can't I run iMovie and have it

Why? Why can't I run iMovie and have it ask me whether I want to load an existing project or new one? I don't see a setting for this in Preferences.
    thanks

I haven't gone to the trouble of actually testing to see which uses more CPU power, but Firefox has been faster than Safari on every Mac I've ever owned.
To see CPU usage by process, open the terminal (in Utilities) and enter 'top' at the command line. You might have to expand the window as processes don't appear in any logical order.
It could also be hardware-related: I have late 2009 mini with similar specs and it pinwheels easily.

  • Transfer iMovie '09 Files to a New Mac Running iMovie '11

    I need transfer/upgrade advice.
I have an old Mac running iMovie '09 (v8.0.6) with iMovie Events stored on an external (Firewire) drive.  I have not created any real iMovie Projects yet ("one of these days, I'm gonna I'm gonna make those vaction videos really shine...").
I also have a new Mac, and the App store upgraded it to iMovie '11 (v9.0.4).  Have not launched iMovie '11 on the new Mac yet.
From reading some posts in these forums, I realize the transfer of iMovie "content?" from one Mac to another is not necessarily straightforward.  Can someone give me step-by-step directions (or point me to a thread/KB article) that does.
    Any help greatly appreceated.

    AppleMan1958-
Thanks, that did it.  Must say I was skeptical with some of the other iMovie file transfer issues I've read about in these forums, but mine was pain-free.
    For others/to reinforce:
Connect external drive containing iMovie events (ensure it mounts normally).
    Start iMovie '11 (v9.0.4).
iMovie '11 (v9.0.4) immediately recognized that the external drive connected to my Mac contained iMovie Events and displayed them in its "Event Library" (lower left).
Minor delay as iMovie '11 added my events and possibly "upgraded" them to work with the new version of iMovie.
I did not have to "point" iMovie at the external drive, or tell it anything.  It just recognized the external drive had iMovie events.  Kinda cool how smooth this went!
Wondering what the transfer process would be if I had existing projects to transfer as well (I did not have any; just wondering aloud).

  • Can't run iMovie 08 on my mac mini

I bought a mac mini OS X 10.4.11 recently (1.42 GHz PowerPC G4, 1GB, Intel processor, PowerMac 10.1, 167 MHz). I tried to load iMovie 08 but couldn't as I need 2GHz or a G5. Is it possible to upgrade this mac mini so I can run iMovie 08? Don't have alot of money to spend on a new Mac, so was hoping to upgrade. If so, how do I do this. Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Unfortunately, there is no practical way to upgrade a 1.42 G4 Mac mini to a specification sufficient to run iMovie 8 since iMovie 8 requires an Intel processor, or a G5 system running at least 1.9GHz.
However, if you have tried to install iLife 08, you can download iMovie HD (the previous version of iMovie) which will install and run on that system. When you try and install the earlier iMovie after installing other iLife 08 components, it should search the system for a qualifying product and find sufficient of the iLife 08 software to install and run.
iMovie HD is a little more complex and sophisticated than iMovie 08, but many users significantly prefer it.
Oops, forgot: the iMovie HD download can be found at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html

  • Running iMovie in Rosetta?

    Hi,
I just recently started using iMovie on my MacBook Pro. I stumbled upon the apparently well know cfx plug-ins. I found all the info about how you have to force iMovie into Rosetta to use these plug-ins. I tried pretty much everything and nothing will let my iMovie use Rosetta.
What I did was open the package contents of iMovie, open the info.plist file using textedit and changed the line "<key>LSRequiresNativeExecution</key><true/>" to "<key>LSRequiresNativeExecution</key><false/>". Then I saved the file and repaired the disk permissions using Disk Repair. Finally i opened the system library and trashed the files "Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext. Then I rebooted and opened the info on iMovie where the option to run iMovie in Rosetta was supposed to be. But no luck.
Can anyone help me? I really want to use these plug-ins that cfx offer. I called apple and they told me that it wasn't possible, but it obviously is. I'm running iMovie HD 6.0.3 on my MBP 2.0 ghz intel duo core with 1.5 gigs of ram. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
