Possible to skip backing up an arch_dest?

Hi there,
I have got a Std Edition RAC 2 node Cluster and we have a single instance standby database. We have arch_dest_2 set to local disk on each node and copy those using scripts to the Standby database server. RMAN moans that it cannot find the archivelogs from the other node - obviously because it can't see it.
Is there any way I can skip the arch_dest_2 for the archive log backups? Arch_dest_1 goes to ASM. I have tried:
backup archivelog all format <blah> skip inaccessible; but RMAN does not like this at all either.
Any ideas?
Thanks VicC

Hi,
We have got Arc dest 1 going to ASM and the backups are going to a NFS mount so they are visible on both nodes. We are using RSYNC to send archivelogs to the manually controlled standby database from the locally stored arch dest 2 on each node. These archivelogs are deleted from arch dest 2 once they have been sent to the DR database server. (Using checksum etc). However RMAN moans that when the backup runs it can't find the archivelogs on both nodes arch dest 2. Now this is right obviously but there are copies in dest 1 in ASM, so we are covered and the archivelogs in ASM do get backed up ok.
Is there anyway we can get RMAN to ignore dest 2 or ignore the fact that that those archivelogs don't exist anymore? Or at least in our backup script something that will stop the archivelog backup from getting errors.
Many thanks
VicC

  • Firefox 19 (& 18): when I type it skips back & deletes characters & types over them. Please fix!

Unbelievable! I had this problem back in 2011 with one of the single digit versions of firefox and it's back! This has been happening for months since version 18 or before, I don't really pay attention to versions but it's gotten to the point where it's embarrassing: I get called out a retard because I don't notice the skip/back-trace and then I end up with the weirdest typos on forum comments and email etc.
Can't you guys fix this please? It's really annoying and very obvious. You guys released a prompt update for the old single digit version (which I re-downloaded a few months ago trying to avoid the problems since version 15) and indeed the next version had the update/upgrade that fixed this skip/backtrace. I'm sure if you have versions 18-19 and possibly before you have this problem too!

Thanks for replies but I'm sorry but why should I switch to safe mode? I don't have any viruses. Does it make any sense to you that I should read a mile long page that I can't begin to even understand (yeah not a techie here) when YOU PEOPLE SHOULD provide a firefox version that works properly. Get with it and release the version that doesn't have this problem, please. Some of us don't have the time to study internet mechanics 101, we hold 2 jobs and don't get home till 1:40 am and have to eat shower and go to bed to get up at 5:16 (sleep that one extra minute) only to do it all over again. So sorry if I'm a tad miffy, I already work 2 jobs, I can't work your job to fix your errors. How's about releasing a proper version for pete's sakes!?

  • Skipping back- and forward through random Playlist

    Hi,
when I skip back to the previous song in a random playing playlist, I don't get the previous song but a random one. My IPod touch plays the previous song as expected (OS 2.x).
I miss this feature, 'cause I used it to hear unrated songs. Then, after hearing 5 to 10 songs, I skipped back and rated the songs. Afterwards I skipped forward and continued hearing the next unrated song.
Is it somehow possible to do this with the IPhone too? Scoring the songs just in time when you hear them, is very uncomfortable.
    Stephan

Maybe I explained it bad. I'll try again.
    IPod-Touch (OS 2.2):
Playing a playlist with shuffle mode on. Pressing "Skip Back" -> you hear the previous heared song. You can repeat this as often as you want.
    IPhone 3G S:
Playing a playlist with shuffle mode on. Pressing "Skip Back" -> you hear a random song (and that ist bu&%§*T).
I prefer the IPod behaviour. So I can hear 10 songs in shuffle mode, then I skip backwards through this songs and rate them. Finally I skip forward 10 times and I can continue hearing the next music block. The IPhone "Skip Back" is absolutely useless in shuffe mode!

  • I hate the update of the bar. It has totally done away with being able to skip back several places in the browser; now I can only click the back button and go back one page at a time. I otherwise hate the new layout, too. How do I undo this?

I can't choose a specific page to skip back to but must click the back button over and over to get back to where I want to skip to. The little headings "most visited," "getting started," "Youtube," etc. have changed. They look more colorful, but I hate how the home button is clear over to the right side of the page, etc. What was wrong with the way everything was before? I HATE this new update, and I didn't even want it.

You can get the drop down list by either right-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears.
If you want the drop-down arrow you can add it with the Back/forward dropmarker add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker

After installing the new software to my iPhone 4S , my dream zoo either will not start or when it does it has a blank screen that has a few icons on it that wont work. How can I fix this is it possible to go back and reinstall the older software ?

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?

  • Is it possible to skip the use of a router to get wireless from imac to macbook? (both osx10.5.8)

Current setup is my imac (osk 10.5.8) is plugged into my dlink router. Wife gets her connection for her macbook (aslo osx 10.5.8) wirelessly from the router.
Is it possible to skip the use of a router? That is, plug the ISP's inbound cable to my mac and somehow my wife's macbook be able to wireless connect to my iMac?
Just looking to get around the router that is a possible cause for slowness.

Some sort of router is needed for both of you to share the cable service. Is the router yours or part of the cable modem provided by the cable company? If the latter ask the cable company to service the device to be sure everything is working properly. If you have a separate modem and the router is yours, then replace it.
Why do you believe your wireless is slow?
I would also consider upgrading your computers' OS X.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and

  • Iphone 4 when power on stuck in itune logo, is it possible to do back up now? (never do back up in pc/icloud before)

    Please help..
iphone 4 when power on stuck in itune logo, is it possible to do back up now? (never do back up in pc/icloud before)

You could try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. If it still shows the "connect to iTunes" screen, you can't do anything than restore it using recovery mode, explained here:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
And at this point backups can't be taken anymore, sorry.

  • I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard and foolishly upgraded to Yosemite.  Is it possible to go back in time with Time Machine and reinstall Snow Leopard.  Then upgrade to Lion or Mavericks?  Any other ideas on how I can exit Yosemite?

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard and foolishly upgraded to Yosemite. Now have numerous problems.  Is it possible to go back in time with Time Machine and reinstall Snow Leopard?  Then upgrade to Lion or Mavericks?  Any other ideas on how I can exit Yosemite?

Once you get yourself back to Snow Leopard, if you still want to upgrade somewhat, I would suggest the following:
    1. Get an external hard drive that you can use for experiments with new OS versions. You could partition it into 2 or 3 partitions. You could then clone your existing Snow Leopard system to one partition using Carbon Copy Cloner (well worth $40) or SuperDuper ($25).
    2. Buy OS X Mountain Lion for $20, through the Apple online store (I don't think it's available through the App Store). Apple has decided to make it very difficult for anyone to get Mavericks unless they have already downloaded it.
You will receive two e-mails from Apple, one containing a PDF with a redemption code, and one with the password you will need to unlock the PDF. Using the code, you will download Mountain Lion from the App Store, where it will appear among your Purchased items.
After ML finishes downloading, its installer app will launch itself. When you see this launch screen, QUIT the install app immediately! Go to your applications folder, find the Install OS X Mountain Lion app, and copy it to a safe location outside of your Applications folder. Keeping one or more copies will allow you to reinstall without unnecessary aggravation if you later need or want to do that. At this point, you can re-launch the Installer in the Applications folder and let it run. You can install it on a clean partition on your external HD, or you can allow it to upgrade the Snow Leopard clone you created on your external drive, or you can do both. This should allow you to test how everything works for as long as you like.
    3. If you left yourself a free partition on your test drive, try a clean install of Yosemite and set everything up from scratch (do not migrate anything). This will allow you to see whether your problems with it were related to something in your Snow Leopard system.

Well first you need to sync your iPhone 4 with your Mac/PC so that it will transfer all your music, apps, podcasts, etc. Then sync your iPod Touch and the media you selected during the sync should be there on your iPhone. If you have difficulty in transferring media from iPhone to your computer, try softwares like TransCopy. They will help in transferring data from your iphone to your computer. Dont forget to check that all the transferred data is in the iTunes media folder so that the iTunes can locate the files. Link to Transcopy software :

I forgot to save a file in Numbers. Is there any way I can possibly get it back?

Do a search in Finder for Untitled.Numbers. If you find such a file, or some variation, try to open it and see what's there. That's if you never saved.
Mavericks is pretty good about autosaving, so you chances are not too bad. In the future though, never write a thing in a new document until you give it a name and a place.

  • In PDP cycle is it possible to pull back transfered PR (from SRM to ECC)?

    Dear Friends,
We are working on PDP cycle where backend ECC Purchase Requisition is transferred to SRM client via program BBP_EXTREQ_TRANSFER so that the procurement activity is carried out in SRM.
Now business decides to discontinue the procurement activity from SRM and continue in R/3 only. Which mean business would like to create Purchase Order in R/3 with reference to PR.
So we delete the shopping cart created in SRM and tried to change the Purchasing group so that system removed the procurement profile tag from PR. But system does not allow.
My question is, is it possible to pull back the PR from SRM to ECC after it has been transferred to SRM?
Or in standard process there is no provision to reverse the situation after a PR is transferred from ECC to SRM.
Can anyone through some light on this?
    Regards,
    Sandeep Parab

    Hi Sandeep,
by standard there is no option to send Reqs back to ECC. A moved Req is
blocked in ECC with a flag in EBAN, that sourcing is carried out externally. This
block is removed, when the PO is created. I implemented a push back mechanism
with an extra button in the sourcing cockpit within a classic environment. The
button first takes the SC information and identifies the Req in ECC, sets the
status on blank and releases the Req for sourcing. Finally the SC is deleted from
the sourcing cockpit. With a good programmer the story can be quickly done.
    Cheers,
    Claudia

Only if the developer of the app can issue you an older version. Otherwise, you can't.

  • When listening to audio books after several parts it skips back to part one and starts playing all over.

Why is my iPod nano skipping back to part one after listening to several parts of an audio book.  The book starts all over from the beginning and when I get to the part I stopped on, it will not let me skip to the next part.

Have you tried a simple reset of the iPod to see if that does any good first?  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
It might also hurt to try a full restore of the iPod in iTunes as well.  This process wipes all content from the device, resets all settings back to their defaults, and reloads a fresh copy of the iPod's software onto the device.  This would help eliminate the possibilty of a software issue/glitch and/or data corruption on the iPod.

  • Is it possible to get back 2.0 version coz I've updated it to 3.0...

Is it possible to get back 2.0 version coz I've updated it to 3.0 and I'm not happy with it. The new features are cool and all but the thing is, the battery drains quickly. And who would want that? I'll be satisfied having the older version back if that's the case.
Before updating my iPhone to it's latest version, the battery is not that easy to drain. But ever since I updated it to 3.0 version software, my iPhone does not even last for a day. WELL GETTING TO MY MAIN POINT, IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET THE OLD SOFTWARE VERSION WHICH IS 2.0? Please if you have any idea to answer my question, please do so. And tell me how and what to do. Thanks.
    Message was edited by: Alyssabeybeh=))

I've experience the EXACT same problem. Apple Support didn't believe the battery draining coincided with the 3.0 upgrade. I've tried evverything. Apple was awesome in that they replaced myt previous iPhone. Problem is, the exact same problem persists. I've turned off all wireless except GSM. I've removed all apps. I've reduced brightness to nearly nothing. Still, the battery drains within 4 hours. I'm on my way back to the Genius bar today.

  • It is possible to skip albums

I’ve recently had to buy an iPod because Sony’s new players have removed gapless playback and so far I’m extremely happy with it, however I’ve encountered a slight issue and I was wondering if somebody could tell me if it is possible to skip albums and yet still play all songs.
For example, I want to listen to all songs. Via the menu I can select which song I want to start with, after a little time I realise that I want to jump to next album – is there a way that this can be done without just hitting ‘next’ the allotted number of times or by using ‘Cover flow’ because the problem with cover flow or using the album menu is that it will then only play the selected album rather than playing all tracks on the player starting at the selected album. Even using the ‘All Song’ menu is not ideal because it does not automatically go to the current song.
Therefore is there a button combination that will jump to the next album or is there a configuration setting that will allow me to play all songs on the player even if I select an album via cover flow etc. The new Sony players have an option to play ‘all’ or ‘selected range’ i.e. album or artist etc and I think that such a feature, if it doesn’t already exist, would be useful.

Short of marking the albums you don't want to play in the shuffle mode in iTunes (which I believe you are saying you don't want to happen) then there really isn't a way to skip a whole album. I'm a little confused on what you are calling ranodom mode and what you are calling album shuffle mode. When you say random mode, are you referring to when a specific playlist is played in shuffle mode or are you referring to when every song on your ipod is being shuffled? My original answer above was assuming you meant when all songs on the ipod is being played.
