Possible to split Audio/ Visual for apple tv

Hey,
I have a projector in my room and was wondering if i could airplay movies through itunes to the apple tv (connected to my projector) and then keep the sound coming out through the headphone port (the speakers on the projector are average). As i have my laptop and stereo on the other side of the room and dont really want to have cables running along the floor. If this isnt possible are there any cheap alternatives.

I was considering buying an Apple TV to do something similar, but after looking everywhere, it seems that iTunes on a Mac doesn't allow to Airplay Videos to multiple Airplay devices or split the Audio and Video signals (where one device would be AppleTV for the video portion, and other devices would be an Airport Express connected to my sound system for the Audio portion, or to play the Audio part on my own Mac - like you want to do).
I don't know if it can help you, but I can describe the system that I am currently using, which works, but is not as elegant:
About 4 years ago, I have purchased and installed on my Mac a software called Airfoil (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/).  This capture software allows you to connect any numbers of Airplay enabled devices to your Mac via Wifi, and stream the captured content (Audio and/or Video). They have been doing this, way before iTunes could give you that capability for the Audio stream.  This allows me to stream music from my Mac, with the Pandora app, for example  (not just iTunes) to the multiple Airport Express I have distributed thoughout the house, where each AE has a differnet sound system connected to it.  The beauty about it, is that Airfoil ensures that they are ALL in synch - which is not always the case with the multiple speakers function which is built-in iTunes.
Airfoil also comes with a built-in Video Player that can capture a DVD on your Mac, or any Web application like NetFlix, Hulu, etc, and output the video throught the Mac display port (where your projector could be connected), and at the same time stream the Audio portion through all your Airport Express (or any Airplay-enabled devices, like an Apple TV).  Airfoil also have an App on the iPhone (Airfoil Speaker), where you can stream the Audio from your Mac to your iPhone or iPad.  They also have Airfoil for iPhone, where any Audio playing on your iPhone or iPad can be steamed throughout the house via Airplay.
In summary, for the Video feed, I have my projector connected to my Mac on one side of the room (using a mini-display to HDMI adaptor).  For the Audio feed, I have an Airport Express connected the sound systems accross the room (could be an Apple TV), or iPhone or iPod Touch....  Airfoil on the Mac ensures that the video stream to the projector is in synch with the Audio stream to the sound system(s) - so that the viewing doesn't look like a badly translated Japenese movie...  :-)
The only draw back to that system, is that it requires a lot a CPU from my Mac for Airfoil to capture, slip everything, synch and stream to the Airplay device(s) - and have noticed that the Mac CPU fans run to high speed after half an hour or so into the movies.  It works great, but I have the (bad) feeling that it stresses the CPU/GPU of my Mac, and will shorten its life over time.  That is why I would have preferred a $99 Apple TV to be able to do the same thing - but apparently not (as of yet).

  • How to package multibitrate live stream as audio-only for Apple compliance

    Hi
From AMS documentation, I can package vod content as audio-only by appending "audio-only" to url for instance:
    http://<ams server ip>/hls-vod/audio-only-aac/vod.m3u8
Similarly I can package live content (single bitrate) as audio-only for instance:
    http://<ams server ip>/hls-live/audio-only-aac/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/livestream1.m3u8
In my case, I have 3 bitrates being published for a live audio-video event. The variant playlist for this event is created by hls_http module by refering to Manifest.xml.
I could not figure out a way to insert an audio-only stream to this variant playlist created by hls_http module for live stream.
Please let me know if I am missing something because this seems to be a pretty obvious requirement for live streaming to IOS devices.
    Thanks,
    Nitin

  • Is it possible to split audio separate while playing a game and chat

While listening music and in the meantime play a game or have a chat session, I  find it disturbing that the audio from the game or chat session runs at the same time as the audio from the music. Ik makes me nervous. Is it possible to use 2 different audio, or stop the audio from the game and keep listening to the music.
Or stop the game audio during the chat session?
Somebody can tell me if it is possible?

  • Audio options for Apple TV

If I’m streaming video from my desktop or iPad to an Apple TV, I’d like to find a way to mirror (or just directly output) the audio portion of that video to one or more of the several Airplay speakers I already have on the same network.
I've tried it with the existing Apple TV, but streaming to it from my other devices cuts out the audio except to the TV connected to the ATV unit. (From what I've read, the Airplay functions of the new Apple TV will be essentially the same, except they'll allow 1080p.)
It seems redundant and messy to have to string wires around to spread the audio portion of the video around, when I have so much wireless capability already and have bought into the full line of Apple products -- Apple router, Express units, iPad, iPhone, TV, MacBook... The list goes on and on.
I'm also exploring using either AirParrot or AirFoil to accomplish this once I get my hands on the 1080p ATV. (Long conversations with folks at the Apple store yielded no solutions; it's possible the OS update this summer may change things.) Latency is also an issue, though AirFoil's video player seems to have that under control. A last resort might be using either a quality FM transmitter to send audio to two receivers that have FM, or a wireless audio transmitter like the ones made by Rocketfish.
I'm starting to think I should just splurge for a Mac Mini to hook up to the TV instead of getting the new Apple TV. There's a huge cost difference, but that would vastly expand the world of possibilities.
Anyone got any thoughts on all that?

I understand where you're coming from on this, but as you've discovered, it is just not possible. iTunes doesn't seperate the audio tracks out in the manner you'd like. The stream is designed to go to one AirPlay device, and only one. Although I would be interested to learn if your idea bout AirFoil would work.

  • Cutting / Splitting Audio Clips, plus taking Fade OFF of audio clips

    Hi again all,
I wanted to know if it's possible to split audio clips in two in iMovie '08? I can't seem to find a way to do it, and I've been trying to edit audio in Amadeus and trying to import again, but it's getting too complicated.
Also--when two clips overlap, is it possible to take the Fade Off completely away, so that there is no fade at ALL? I tried playing with the ducking and fade sliders, but with no luck.
    Thanks in advance!
    --Melissa

    Melissa,
to remove audio fade-in/fade-off from audio or video clip, select the clip, press A, toggle fade-in and fade-out to manual and drag both sliders to 0:00
Here I'm just guessing what the actual name of the controls are in the english version of iMovie '08, mine is localized in italian.
As per splitting an audio clip, I don't know how to do either.

  • Apple TV 2: Audio Setup for multiple languages

    Hi,
I want to create files which contain audio tracks from more than one language. AppleTV 2 should play the AC3 track (2.0 or 5.1).
    I tried:
Track 1. DE: AAC Dolby Digital 2.0 160kBit
    Track 2. DE: AC3
Track 3. EN: AAC Dolby Digital 2.0 160kBit
    Track 4. EN: AC3
But: Apple TV 2 does not allow me to select the 2nd language. In Quicktime et.al. its possible.
Is the ordering of the tracks wrong? Or how can I get it done?
I'm using Handbrake to encode the Movie, but in their forum no one was able to help
    Thanks

Thanks god that I was not discussing methods of circumventing copy protection.
Apple describes in the  Technical Q&A QA1604 "Creating Apple TV Media Files Containing Dolby Digital Professional AC-3 Audio" (https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#qa/qa1604/_index.html#//apple_ref/doc/u id/DTS40007659):
How can I create media files for Apple TV that contain a Dolby Digital Professional AC-3 audio track?
But this description does not describe how to act for alternative languages.
    That was my questions.

  • Optimum workflow for creating an audio-visual from scanned slides?

I'd like some suggestions as to the best workflow to adopt when generating an AV from scanned slides. I'm transferring my 3-screen audio-visuals from slide format to Blu-ray. The slides are being scanned on a Nikon Coolscan, and after editing end up as ~100 MB, 5400 x 3700, Tiff files with seven layers. These files are then archived, separate from anything I do with them in Premiere. They'll be imported into Premiere, along with the original soundtrack, and eventually output to Blu-ray disk. Then I hire the local cinema for an evening or two, let the word spread, and we reminisce and party!
I realise that pre-conditioning the images – flattening, cropping, down-sampling to a suitable size – would be a good approach, but I'd rather avoid that if possible for two reasons: (1) so that I only have one image to keep track of, instead of the original and a Premiere version; and (2) if I decide to edit colour or contrast I can do so non-destructively on the original. The latter is an important consideration. Images may be used in more than one project. If I decide to alter the look of an image (not because of the look of the image within a particular project, but because I decide the original edit was inherently flawed), it would be better to alter the original and have that change reflected in all other uses of the image, than to alter, say, two copies of the image plus the original.
A finished AV will range from 30-400 images. The longer shows will be broken into sequences of no longer than about 20-30 images. These are some of my concerns:
    Cropping
The scanned images include a small amount of the slide mount. That way I know I've scanned the entire slide. So that has to go. And given that slides are 3:2 and Blu-ray is 16:9, something else has to go as well. I've been through most of the Premiere PDF but have yet to come across a cropping tool. I know how to position, scale, rotate, but how do I crop? Scaling is not a substitute because I may want certain images to not fill the screen and not show the slide mount.
    Flattening
Will layered Tiff files cause difficulties in Premiere or Encore?
    Resolution
Will 5400 x 3700 files (versus resampling to 1920 x 1080) have a serious impact on the time in takes for any part of the process from importing into Premiere to encoding in Encore?
    Image Order
Is it better to order and renumber images using Adobe Bridge, or should I just shuffle images around in Premiere? Working with Premiere alone would have the advantage that I can import the originals (if that is an acceptable workflow).
    Packaging
When a project is finished, I want to package all the assets via Project Manager and archive them. And I'd rather not archive 100MB image files. Now, this is going to be a big ask, and I'll have to jump across to InDesign to explain. When I've used scanned images in InDesign, I link to the original 100 MB files. No problems whatsoever. Come archiving time, I package in one of two ways: use an InDesign script to crop and resample the original images, and then package; or I simply export to PDF, and during the export all images are automatically cropped, resampled, and saved within the PDF in whatever format I choose. A simple and elegant archive.
Does Premiere have the ability to crop and resample the stills it uses, and either overwrite the original or save as a new file?
That question has just made me think: if I do need to crop, flatten and resample before importing into Premiere, or for archiving, maybe I should be mocking up my Premiere projects in InDesign set to a page size of 1920 x 1080. I could drag in all the images, then shuffle, crop and size them. When I'm happy with the sequence, I export as jpegs, and get the cropped, resampled images that way, ready for Premiere.
    Any comments most appreciated.

Your last paragraph makes the most sense. Although a script in Photoshop would easily do what you want.
Before you resize them, make sure you don't really need to pan across them. Resizing down to around 4K or so might avoid problems.

  • Is it possible to get a refund for a case i bought at the store but its not an apple product?

I bought a kate spade plastic case at the store 2 months ago and even the first day of having it on my iPhone I had multiple issues with it. However, I couldn't return it because I was away at school. I went into the Apple store and asked about the possibility of getting a refund for the case but they said it was a third party product and to contact the manufacturer. I called kate spade and since i wanted a refund and purchased at the apple store there was nothing they could do and to ask the apple store for my money back because thats where I purchased it. Am I ever going to get a refund and what should I do at this point?

  • Is it possible for Apple to add "key" to the view options selection?

Is it possible for Apple to add "key" to the view options selection?

DJ1970,  Unfortunately no.  iTunes does not have the key in the database.
People who want to know the key of a song can use (unless they already have perfect pitch!) key detection software such as Mixmeister.
Once you know the key, iTunes does not even have a field to store it, although you could stick it into Comments or some other unused text field such as Grouping.  These fields are indeed viewable in iTunes.

  • Is it possible to add Audio on Demand to an image in Captivate 7 QUIZ for html 5 output in web browsers?

We are trying to do a simple HEAR IT - SELECT IT type 'quiz' in Captivate 7 for an indigenous language project.  Our target output is html 5 to web browser.
We have used the multiple choice question mode and have inserted IMAGES in place of text (although we left the question numbers visible)
The user should be able to click on a speaker icon to hear the audio file (as many times as they choose)  and then select the correct image answer.
ALSO -  Is it possible to add sound effects for a correct or incorrect quiz answer?
    Thanks

Attaching audio could be done to the Success/Failure captions, rather easily. You can put a shape button on a question slide, other interactive objects are not possible (Buttons on Question/Score Slides in Captivate 6? - Captivate blog). And have that shape button pause before the pause of the question slide. Use an advanced action with the Statement 'Play audio'. Don't use a simple action, because it will release the play head: Why choose Standard over Simple action? - Captivate blog
User will then be able to click that shape button as many times as he wants, because the play head will remain at the pausing point. When he Submits the question, the two step process will use the pausing point of the Question slide: Question Question Slides in Captivate - Captivate blog

  • Is it possible to get custom eartips for the Apple In-ear headphones?

A year or so ago I purchased the Apple In-ear headphones. I use them primarily in the car when my brother plays his music through the car stereo while I'm watching a movie on my iPod Touch or my MacBook Pro. They have very good isolation, but are uncomforable and it is very hard to get them to fit in my ears properly as well as keeping them from working themselves out of my ears. This is with me using the small eartips as the large eartips don't fit in my ears at all and the medium eartips make my ears hurt more than the small eartips along with not fitting as well.
I think custom eartips may be the best solution to my quandry.
Is it possible to get custom eartips for my Apple In-ear headphones?
If so, where can I get custom eartips for my Apple In-ear headphones?

i would definitely try amazon.com, im sure there are some earips on there that are fit to work with apple in-ear headphones, hope this helps!
