Do you want to automatically save the document, or do you want to skip the save altogether?

  • Disable save prompt when closing form

    Hello,
I am looking for a scripting command to stop the prompt to save a form. I am sending the form via a submit button, so a locally saved copy is unnecessary since the form will be attached to a sent email.
Does anyone know how to stop the prompt to save the form once it is completed?
Thanks in advance for any insight!

Go to System Preferences > General & check "Ask to keep changes when closing documents."

  • Firfox 4 - can we not save TABS when closing?? I just lost everything!

I installed Firefox 4, had several TABs open before the upgrade. When Firefox 4 opened I had all the TABs. When I wanted to close Firefox there was no SAVE button, so I lost everything.
Did a system restore and now when I click the Firefox icon nothing happens...cannot open Firefox at all.
    Thanks Mozilla....

  • The older version would allow to save tabs when closing, how can i get the new version to do the same?

the previous version would ask something like 'save file' when i would close firefox. as i use various tabs this is a very helpful feature for me. i would like to get this same feature on the new version, otherwise i want to know how to go back to the older version.
    thanks

Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

i've opened many tabs that i want. When I close Firefox there are many tabs. Those tabs have to be restored when i open again Firefox. how to activate in firefox 4.o. In firefox 3.6 it is asking defaultly to save sessions.

In Firefox 4 you can always restore the previous session via Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session
You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle with a double left-click.

  • Pages - Eliminate save prompt when closing file with no changes made

    Hey everyone -
This isn't really a question thread, but rather a solution I built to eliminate one of Page's annoyances.
This problem has been encountered before, but the question isn't truly ever answered. I would reply to those (they're the top results in Google), but because they are archived I can't change them at all.
    The Problem:
Even after disabling the .pages prompt, it still prompts to save files just before I close them. The exact message is: Do you want to save the changes made to the document "some_document"?
    Details:
    System Version:          OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)
    Kernel Version:          Darwin 13.0.0
    Pages Version: 5.0.1
    The Solution:
    Create a workflow.
    Open Automator, select New Document.
    Select Service, then click Choose.
Set Service Receives to "no input" and change the "in" drop down list to "Pages.app".
Next, search for Quit Application, put it in there.
Set this to Pages.app, and ensure the box "Ask to save changes" is unchecked.
Save it. I believe there is a default location, so don't specify a path. Give it a name. Quit Automator.
Assign a keyboard shortcut to the workflow.
Open System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts.
Go to Services on the left hand panel.
    Scroll to the bottom.
Under General, you should see the workflow you created. Mine was called "Quit Pages".
Click it, then select the Add Shortcut button.
Give it a rarely used shortcut. I chose ⌘⇧X, but you're welcome to do whatever you like.
    Quit System Preferences.
At this point, it should work. Open up Pages, open a new document, then do the shortcut. It should exit without any issue. However, I did not like having to learn a new shortcut just to pull this off. So I did this:
Use BetterTouchTool to configure it properly.
    Download BetterTouchTool and install it.
    Open it up.
Go to the Basic Settings tab, and ensure the "Launch BetterTouchTool on startup" is checked.
    Click the Gestures tab.
Select Keyboard in the horizontal bar.
On the left hand panel, near the words "App Specific", click the plus symbol. This should allow you to add an application.
    Select Pages.
Click the Pages application in the left hand panel (if it is not already).
At the bottom of the main panel, click "Add new shortcut".
    Keyboard shortcut: ⌘Q
Trigger other keyboard shortcut: ⌘⇧X (or whatever you used in System Preferences).
    Quit the application.
Open it back up. It should now be running in your Menubar.
Now, if you open a .docx document with Pages, then hit ⌘Q, it should exit without any fuss. HOORAH!
Granted, this does have a few tradeoffs. If you go to Pages > Quit, it will still prompt you. Also if you want to close the current window (⌘W), it will still prompt you.

You get this behavior if the file which you opened is not a Pages '09 one.
If it is a Pages '08 one, it must be entirely transcoded so it's a modified document and given that, the program must ask you to save it.
If you save it as a Pages '09 document, you will no longer be asked to save (in these conditions).

  • Is it possible to return to same postion when closing lightbox?

    Hi guys,
So I am required to do some scrolling within a lightbox, the problem is when I close, it doesn't return to the same position as when I open. Is there a way around this, or this is the limitation of the software?

  • "Do you want to save changes" always poping when closing home made PDF

    Hi,
I create a pdf by myself in one of my application (only external lib used is zlib for deflate streams)
I tried to follow the PDF references.
It's a simple PDF file with a few pages, some text & lines to underline (deflated or not same problem), and 3 fonts, a xref.
The PDF is showing perfectly in the Reader X 10.1.1 but when i try to close the window it always asks me :
"Do you want to save changes before closing".
All save options are disabled in the preferences of the reader.
Is there anything to do in the reader to avoid this ?
Is there anything to do in the PDF itself to avoid this ?
Or maybe the PDF is not completly correct ? Which is possible even if i tried to follow the specs in the official reference document, there are alot of chances that i may have done something wrong.

I first tried the version without the deflated stream (so everything uncompressed) against the online repair tool to check/analyse it @ https://www.pdf-tools.com/osa/repair.aspx
And it says no error found, but the reader still want to save it when closing so i still had no clue at this point.
Fortunately, i finally found what was wrong with my generated PDF.
In my xref table, each object reference was not end by a full EOL, i only did put a newline char.
Now i have "carriage return" "newline" which is the full EOL and the reader is happy and close the file silently.
As suspected i did not follow correctly the specs on xref table
Now i'll go and figure what i did wrong with the deflate filter
    Thanks for your help.

  • How do i save pointeers to opened web sites when closing down to reboot, sometimes a dialogue box asks this , sometimes it warns that to continue will loose the settings thanks?

simple question: when closing ff by clicking on the X upper rh corner sometimes diialogue box warns 'you are about to close tabs'.
other times it asks 'do you wish to save tabs'. Why is this? how do i save tabs when closing browser in order to reboot etc

Do you organise your email into separate folders, or do you just let it accumulate in the Inbox?
I would strongly advise you not to let it sit in the Inbox.
When you see this happening, try right-click on the affected folder, select '''Properties''' then '''Repair Folder'''.
Large folders (actually, a folder in Thunderbird is stored as a file, so it is sensitive to file size limits set by the underlying file system) can be problematic. This is one reason not to let messages collect in one folder. I use Thunderbird's Archive folders so that accumulated mails over several years can happily coexist because they are effectively stored in many small folders. No single mail store folder then exceeds the 2GB or 4GB sizes that have been known to stress the OS. I appreciate that current builds of Thunderbird and a modern 64-bit OS should be able to cope, but practically I find it slows down when given huge files, so I err towards a pragmatic solution; a large number of not very big files.
Archives are searchable, and a Saved Search folder can give you a virtual composite folder allowing access to the entire Archive.

  • Cannot save open tabs when closing, instructions on "help", don't; FF4 has crashed/locked several times also. Frequently have to hit link button (or back button) twice for it to work. Had MUCH better performance from previous version (Windows 7 user)

previous version asked if I wanted to save tabs when closing, not version 4. "Help" suggested checking setting but does NOT indicate what to check! (I cannot find any options/settings related to saving tabs upon closing). Second option was to rename two files, did so, did not allow saving tabs (just erased history). I liked saving tabs and am very frustrated by this.
FF has crashed a couple of times, locked a couple of times (most recently I could not even stop with windows task manager, had to reboot)
Frequently links (or "back" button) gives no response until pressed twice

forgot to add that pages are generally much SLOWER to load with version 4 than previous version. NOT progress!

  • Supress save message at closing Diadem

    Hello,
is it possible to supress or do not show the save message (for Report-Layout, etc.) at closing Diadem?
    Thanks a lot
    Solved!

    Hi AndiMEC
you can use the variable FileModification
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370858K-01/varoff/filemodification/
If you set it to "ignore" DIAdem will not ask, when you close it.
    FileModification = "ignore"
    Hope this helps.

  • Forms behavior when closing browser or forms, javascript

    Hi
I want to be able to run Jinitiator in separate frame, but with the possibilities to close the browser when closing the forms and in on the same html page I would like to have the possibilities to fire a message if the end user try to close the web browser directly (not by closing the forms).
I find in the forum solutions for the two constraints but if I try to put this two behavior together: message fire even when I close the forms because the post-form trigger try to close the browser. I try to put condition on the alert with a variable but do not succeed. how could I manage to setup the two behaviour together?
Is it possible to put condition in javascript to see if the end-user close the browser via forms or via the browser?
    thanks

I've installed the FormsStart utility...and it looks great.
However, if I have separateFrame=true, when my forms application starts, it opens 2 applet windows.
If I have separateFrame=false, everything looks ok except that when I alt-tab to a different application and return - my focus is not returned to the field that the cursor was in.
Is this something inherent with having separateFrame=false? Is there a way around it?
    Cheers,
    Dave

  • Why prompted to save when closing unchanged file?

I open a file because all I want to do is print it. I send it to the printer making no changes. When I try to close the window, I get the "Do you want to save the changes you made" dialog. It's not that big a deal to just hit "return" to choose the default "Save" but it's an extra step and, at times, can be a little annoying.
As no changes were made, why does the 'puter think there were changes made?
Any way to get around this?

When you open a .doc file (or .rtf or .txt or AppleWorks, etc.) in Pages you are not actually opening that file, but creating a new Pages file of the content. This leaves the original file intact. Until you save it as a Pages file (with the .pages extension) you will get the unsaved warning when closing the file or application.
