Possible to switch RAM out of old Titanium PB into a G4 iMac (2003-ish)?

I have two computers. I want to know if it's possible to take the RAM chip out of one and put it into the other.
The "donor" computer is an old Titanium Powerbook G4. It has a 128mb SDRAM chip built in, and a 256 SDRAM that was added later.
The "recipient" computer is a 2003-ish era iMac G4 (the kind with the white hemispheric base and the flexible flat-panel screen attached).
Will it be possible to take that 256mb chip out of the Titanium PB and put it into the iMac G4? Or is it the wrong kind/size/whatever kind of chip? Needless to say, I would follow all the proper instructions and procedures for doing so, if I were to do it.
The reason for this, not that it's important, is that the Titanium PB is just about shot, and it ready to be parted out -- it has a plethora of serious defects and problems that just aren't worth it to fix. The iMac is nice and working fine, but only has 128 RAM at the moment. Thought I might as well cannibalize the Titanium while I can before selling it.
Thanks.
Titanium PowerBook   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Ooops, sorry, I posted this in the wrong iMac forum. I thought I was in the older iMac forum -- this is the new iMac forum.
I reposted the question over there in the proper place. Ignore this question, and/or delete it if you're an admin.
Thanks.

  • Is it possible to import songs from an old apple id into the library on my new computer, but then use my own apple id from then on?

Okay so I'm about to start college and I just got my own macbook. Up until this point, I have been using my dad's apple ID for all my music and apps and stuff (on my other computers at home) but now that I got my own computer, I have my own apple ID as well, and I'd like to start using that ID from now on.
So my question is, is there a way for me to get my old music library (which was controlled by my dad's apple ID) onto my new mac, but from that point on, start using my own apple ID for purchases?
All I want from his ID is that library, because it's the music I have on my ipod and iphone. Once I have all that music on my new computer I want to be able to make purchases with my personal apple ID instead of his. Like I said, all I want is his library.
I'm not sure how to accomplish any of this... so if anyone could help me out that'd be great! I'm so confused.
Sorry if this was confusing lol I hope it makes sense

....... is there a way for me to get my old music library (which was controlled by my dad's apple ID) onto my new mac, but from that point on, start using my own apple ID for purchases?........
Yes, once the content is in iTunes on your computer, just click it to play and authorise your computer to play it by entering your Dad's ID and password.
Log into your own account and start purchasing your own content which will then be added to the existing content.

    NEW SITE:  http://www.shadowfiresolutions.com/testclear/index.html
As a PS:  I bought Master collection 5.5.  what program would i use in the future to make scrolling pictures exactly like they did?  That way I will know what board to post questions about it in the future.

Seeing the two links, you seem to have already managed and copied the necessary bits. In case you have not figured out, this is made in Flash and inserted into the page with Dreamweaver (which adds a JavaScript).

  • [svn:fx-trunk] 12025: Switching out the old video component for the new video component that uses OSMF .

    Revision: 12025
    Revision: 12025
    Author:   [email protected]
    Date:     2009-11-19 17:48:04 -0800 (Thu, 19 Nov 2009)
    Log Message:
Switching out the old video component for the new video component that uses OSMF.  Also fixing RSL issue with OSMF because a change in flex-config.xml accidentally got overwritten.  Also fixing a bug caught during the last code review where you would set the volume on the VideoPlayer, but the volumeBar wouldn't be made aware of that change.
Switching out the video component results in many API changes.  The changes are highlighted below:
    Class name changes:
    - spark.primitives.VideoElement is being renamed to spark.components.VideoDisplay
    - spark.components.mediaClasses.StreamingVideoSource is renamed to park.components.mediaClasses.DynamicStreamingVideoSource
    - spark.components.mediaClasses.StreamItem is renamed to park.components.mediaClasses.DynamicStreamingVideoItem
    VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer event changes:
The new video component's events are:
    - bytesLoadedChange : org.osmf.events.LoadEvent
    - currentTimeChange : org.osmf.events.TimeEvent
    - durationChange : org.osmf.events.TimeEvent
    - mediaPlayerStateChange : org.osmf.events.MediaPlayerStateChangeEvent
The old video component's events were:
    - close : spark.events.VideoEvent (removed)
    - complete : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    - metaDataReceived : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    - playheadUpdate : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with currentTimeChange)
    - progress : flash.events.ProgressEvent (replaced with bytesLoadedChange)
    - ready : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer property changes:
    Renames:
    - maintainAspectRatio:Boolean has been renamed to scaleMode:String and rather than true/false, it now access 4 values: none, zoom, letterbox, and stretch.  See the enum class org.osmf.display.ScaleMode.
    - playheadTime:Number has been renamed to currentTime:Number
    - playWhenHidden has been renamed to pauseWhenHidden, and it's "tense" has been reversed.  So playWhenHidden = true correlates to pauseWhenHidden = false.  Also, before we would only pause when the video component was explcitly set to visible=false, but now we detect if the video components or any of it's ancestors have been hidden.
    - totalTime:Number has been renamed to duration:Number
    New properties:
    - bytesLoaded:Number This is a new property not available on the old video component
    - bytesTotal:Number This is a new property not available on the old video component
    - loop: Boolean this was a property added a while ago on the old video component but not in the original video player spec
    - mediaPlayerState: this is a new property that details the state of the video component.  See org.osmf.media.MediaPlayerState for all the possible values.
    - seekToFirstFrame:Boolean (pending PARB approval) - This is a new property available on VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer.  When autoPlay = false, if seekToFirstFrame is set to true, then we will connect to the server to start downloading the video, figure out the size of the video and resize appropriately, and show the first frame of the video.  If seekToFirstFrame is false, then no connection to the server is made, there's no implicit size for this video, and the first frame will not be show automatically.  By default the value of this property is true.  In the old video component, when autoPlay = false, we always has the same behavior as seekToFirstFrame = true.  Now it is controllable through this property.  Eventually, (not for Flex 4.0), we will most-likely have support for a thumbnail source or a splash screen so the video's preview will show up without making an unneeded connection to the server.  The property name may change depending on PARB.
    Other changes:
    - autoRewind: The default of autoRewind is now true instead of false
    - enabled: before we paused the video when the video component was explicitly set to enabled = false.  Now we pause the video when the video component or any of it's ancestors have been disabled.
    VideoPlayer-only changes:
    - videoObject:flash.media.Video property is now a new property on VideoPlayer.  It was previously only on VideoDisplay.
    - The skin states for the old VideoPlayer were: connectionError, disabled, disconnected, loading, playing, stopped, connectionErrorAndFullScreen, disabledAndFullScreen, disconnectedAndFullScreen, loadingAndFullScreen, playingAndFullScreen, stoppedAndFullScreen.  The new skin states are: uninitialized, loading, ready, playing, paused, buffering, playbackError, disabled, uninitializedAndFullScreen, loadingAndFullScreen, readyAndFullScreen, playingAndFullScreen, pausedAndFullScreen, bufferingAndFullScreen, playbackErrorAndFullScreen, disabledAndFullScreen
    DynamicStreamingVideoItem property changes:
    - bitRate:Number renamed to bitrate:Number
    DynamicStreamingVideoSource property changes:
    - initialIndex has been added to DynamicSteramingVideoSource
    - live:Boolean has changed to streamType:String which accepts values: live, recorded, any.  See the enum class org.osmf.net.StreamType for more info.
    - serverURI:String renamed to host:Object
    - streamItems:Array has changed types to streamItems:Vector.
ScrubBar property changes (THESE CHANGES ARE NOT DONE YET, BUT SHOULD BE DONE SOON)
    - bufferedStart will be removed
    - bufferedEnd will be renamed to loadedRangeEnd.  This property name still may change depending on PARB.
    - bufferedArea skin part needs to be renamed.  Probably will be renamed to loadedArea.  PARB still deciding.

I've got that same problem: iPod Touch 2nd Gen, Apple Component Cables, and an HD TV.
The funny thing is, the cable works fine with an iPod Classic (160 GB) but not for the iPod Touch. Can anyone explain why that is?

  • I want to upgrade my old airport express to the new express. Can I just switch out the old for the new or must I delete the old network first and start from scratch with the new express?

I want to upgrade my old airport express to the new express. Can I just switch out the old for the new or must I delete the old network first and start from scratch with the new express?

It is not necessary to delete your old wireless networks first, but doing so may eliminate confusion. If you wish to do that, open System Preferences > Network, and select Wi-Fi from the left column. Click the Advanced... button, then select your old wireless networks and delete them with the "–" (minus) button. Make sure the "Remember networks this computer has joined" remains checked.
    OK then Apply.
This prevents your Mac from searching for your previous network which will no longer exist.
A new Express creates an open wireless network that you must select before you can configure it. It appears in your Wi-Fi menu like this:
Select it. AirPort Utility will load and walk you through its configuration.
Edit: If you are really using OS X 10.5.1 as shown in your profile, the above screenshot is not applicable. Instead, select the network called "Apple network nnnnnn" and then launch AirPort Utility.

  • Possible to switch out PowerPC chipset for Intel chipset?

I have a powerpc G5 and I was wondering if it's possible to switch those chips out for newer Intel chips? I am running a Dual 2.3Ghz PowerPC G5. If it is possible, how would it be done?
    Thank you.

    Hi Joel Langston;
Since the PPC and the Intel are totally different architectures even if you were able to get the chips the chances of the Intel chips fitting into the PPC motherboard are right up there with that snowball in you know where.

  • Travel Expense: Error: Travel Exp already exist not possible to switch schema

    Dear Team,
I am supporting Travel Management in one reputed company.
User facing one issue where TRF raised by copying one old TRF, during that time Travel expense report also getting copied. It is not giving any error while raising TRF in this process, but when the user trying to raise TER for the same he is geeing error: 'Travel Expenses already exist not possible to switch schema' Kindly suggest how can I stop this. Attached is the ESS Screen.
    Regards,
    Adi.

    Hi Adi,
no. Leave that as it is. I wasn't entirely sure whether the field's value influences the TER in any way. But since it is = 1 and your TER schema collides, this is completely irrelevant. Still good to have this ruled out.
Have you checked what I wrote concerning FITVFELD_WEB? There's a checkbox in the schema "Overlapping Trips allowed" (loosely translated from German, might not be verbatim). If it's not checked, check it and retry.
Again though: 4 years ago, as I already stated in my earlier posts, these settings had no impact on the collision of Travel Expense Claims and coexisting TERs in the same time were not possible. I assume it is still not possible, so we're clutching at straws here.
However. If I understood your business needs correctly, you actually do not want the expense report data/indicators to be taken into account, because you just need the copy for the Travel Request, right? There might be chances for implicit enhancements and "killing" that bit information from the copied TE-Cluster entry so it doesn't stray into the copy of the Travel Request Copy anymore.
    Cheers, Lukas

  • Is it possible to switch my internet? Please help

Right now I am using iCab Web Browser and its a shareware. It's very slow, and can't access some websites. I have OSX 9. Is it possible to switch to Internet Explorer or Windows? I really would like to switch and I am not a computer person whatsoever. Please help me.

There are other older choices from which to experiment, such as Classilla 9.2.1 browser,
which is newer than the much older WaMcom mozilla derivative...
These would all have some issues, and one of them is the lack of correct Java support
along with any Flash player or other important parts whose update has ceased to happen.
    Classilla:
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/classilla/releases/
Older browsers, such as very early (Mac OS) Mozilla and Netscape 7 or before may be OK
if you can find them as downloads; but each will be lacking in some important area. For those
who may hope to use the email function in some, that may not work. It may in another, if the
technical specs for email haven't changed too much, or if the Internet provider allows access.
    http://code.google.com/p/classilla/wiki/AAATheFAQ
MRJ and Flash 7 are supported to some limited extent, from what I've read; but for issues
including security and performance, it is 'forced-off' and should only be turned on to see if
a web page supports it, or in known-secure web sites. Classillia should be read into further.
Some models of older computer hardware predating OS X 10.2 may require a Firmware
update version to be installed in the older OS9 software, running in the computer, to be
able to safely consider running 10.2 or later, in the computer. So if you consider that, do
look into available or necessary firmware updates and install one as needed. Then, to run
an OS X, the computer may require other hardware updates, more RAM, larger HDD, etc.
Or be on the look-out for a newer build Macintosh which supports later OS systems; you
can find info in MacTracker.ca or everymac.com on what hardware supports which OS.
PS: if your older 'colors' G3 iBook were a 'dual-USB' model (white, 500MHz+) it would be
able to run up to Panther 10.3.9 and OS 9.2.2, without additional firmware update; limited
by the size of the hard disk drive, graphic processor, limited RAM upgrade, bus speed, etc.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Is it possible to switch my processor from one laptop to another

i have 2 laptops, both are toshiba's, my old laptop runs better than the one i got for christmas becuase of the processor, my new laptop runs slow becuase the processor is a single core with 1 GHz my old one is dual-core 2.00 GHz, i want to switch them, they are both AMD so i am wondering if it would be possible to switch them
    Here are the processors specs:
    Old one:
    AMD Athlon(tm) X2 Dual-Core QL-62 2.00 GHz
    New one:
    AMD C-50 Processor 1.00 GHz
so please, is it possible to switch them, and how would i go about switching them if possible.
    thanks,

It sounds like a good idea, but it is a total non-starter. Sure, both CPUs are from AMD, but they have different packaging, different voltages, different Level 2 cashe, different thermal outputs and the connectors are different too. All of the circuitry around the 1 Ghz CPU was designed to handle that speed of CPU. If it could be done, you'd overclock the existing circuitry and burn out the system board.
Unlike a desktop computer that you can put in a new system board, CPU and video board, a laptop is pretty limited on what can be done as an upgrade. Your best option would be to find a computer that has the CPU that you'd want and buy it.

When I connect my Mac Mini 2011 with Lion to a TV via HDMI and an earphone cable is plugged in, it´s not possible to choose sound out via hdmi, as opposed to connection via the minidisplay port. Anybody knows how to fix this?

Was just on the phone with Apple about this.
The solution was as follows for me anyway...
    Go to your Finder
    Choose the Go Menu
    Choose Computer
    Choose your Macintosh Hard Drive
    Choose your "Library" Folder
    Choose the "Preferences" Folder
There should be a folder called "Audio"
Move that whole folder to the trash
    Empty the Trash
    Restart from the Apple Menu
    When you are back up and running;
Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu
         Choose Sound
In the output tab you should now be able to make the HDMI "Sticky"
Enjoy your sound over HDMI and no more dirty knees or broken backs unplugging the desktop speakers!

    Hello there, tonjay82.
There are some great sources of information in the following article that might help you in resolving the issue at hand:
    iOS: Understanding Restrictions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4213
Particularly of note is the following:
You can enable and adjust Restrictions, or Parental Controls, on your device to prevent access to specific features or content on the device. Locate these settings by tapping Settings > General > Restrictions.
            and
    Additional Information
If your iOS device is missing a particular application or if a certain feature is not available, ensure that Restrictions are not enabled. Symptoms can include:
App missing from the Home screen (Safari, Camera, or YouTube for example)
Feature or service unavailable (Siri, Location Services, and so on)
Setting missing or grayed out (such as Mail, Contacts, and Calendar; iCloud; Twitter; FaceTime)
Important: Restrictions can also be enabled or enforced using a profile (typically installed when using the device for business or education purposes). You can check for installed profiles in Settings > General > Profiles.
Thank you for reaching out to us at Apple Communities on this issue.

  • Is there a way to switch back to the old color scheme for the keypad? The new black-on-white color scheme is more difficult to see and use for the visually impaired.

Is there a way to switch back to the old color scheme for the keypad? After upgrading to ios 6, the keypad switched to a black-on-white color scheme.  I have a severe visual impairment and found the previous white-on-black color scheme much easier to see and use.
The inverted colors option doesn’t make things look all that better.    My dad, who does not have any serious vision problems, has put off upgrading his iphone because of the color scheme changes.

I have exactly the same concern. It seems it would be a simple fix for Apple to allow users to turn off the camera (and even the mic) while keeping FaceTime open -- especially now that it turns out FaceTime must remain open in order to send and receive iPhone calls on a Mac.
I like to think this new functionality of FaceTime will be baked into a future release of Yosemite, as the current setup has that not-quite-finished feel of a work in progress. In the meantime, there's nothing like a little piece of Post-It stuck over the camera to keep the NSA from watching your face as you type a post to the Apple Support Communities.

    SRCLARK,
Great question! You can go to the store and get a replacement SIM card at the store. Any corporate store will be more than happy to help replacing your card. http://bit.ly/3SdsA
