Possible to Sync iCal on two networked Macs without .Mac?

I tried the MySync beta, and it did not work on my setup.
I have two Macs, a Powerbook G4 1.67 GHz and a 24-inch iMac, connected on a LAN. The two can see each other via file sharting no problem. I do not have a .Mac account and don't want to pay for one just for this.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

I use iSynCal to accomplish synchronizing iCal between 2 LAN connected Macs. While I have OSX 10.3.9 it can be used on "Tiger"
Get it at:

Please note that it is shareware.
Good Luck !

    Hi
Installing the drive into the older machine may work, you WILL get a lot of driver errors and the unit may even fail to boot. The other problem is that the drives may not be compatable, the drive in the broken PC is a SATA drive, older PCs had IDE drives with very different connectors.
Your best option is to do as you suggest and obtain a USB caddy and extract the data that way.
Make sure that the caddy you get will support SATA drives (all new ones will).

  • How to sync iCal between iPhone and MacBookPro without MobileMe?

    Hello,
How can I sync iCal between iPhone and MacBookPro without MobileMe?
I'm still using MobileMe, but I will stop soon.
I'm using my iPhone in India a lot to create new events or to add new contacts. At the end of the day I would like to able to sync it with my MacBookPro without using MobileMe. Internet Connection is often very bad in that area. The iPhone I only use without UMTS and all that Data Transfering stuff. Best for me would be to sync directly by wire or Bluetooth if possible. If you have a solution with and without Internet Connection, that would be very helpfull to me.

On the Mac, in iTunes with iPhone attached, click on the iPhone section. Go to the "info" tab. There you will see a list of items that can be synced. Make sure that "sync addressbook contacts" is checked, along with the appropriate choices under it.
Don't know what else to say, it works fine here.
    Hope this helps.

  • Syncing ical between 2 macs without .mac account, is it possible?

    Hi all,
I have an iMac and a Macbook Pro and want to be able to sync iCal over the 2 machines so that entries added/updated on one will appear on the other.
I don't have a .mac account and don't really want to get one as this is all I would be using it for. So is this possible without a .mac account?
The two computers are not yet networked (I think) however they do share the same broadband internet connection through the same Belkin router, so I presume I can connect the two through this way (that will be my next question!!!)
How is the easiest way to achieve this?
    Cheers,
    Andrew

take a look at busysync, I think that will help you achieve what you want to do with your two computers over a local network.

  • Sync ical between two Macs?

    Hi,
I have a Mac at home and a mac at work. Is it possible for my ical to sync on both macs so that i can view the same calenders on both macs?
It appears to be signed intop icloud on both macs but the calenders dont sync or display the same info?
    Both are running 10.7.4.
    Thansk.

    Hi and thanks for responding.
I'm being really stupid here, i don't even know if my ical is "on my mac" or in "icloud" i'm afraid.
If i go into icloud in system prefs, "Calander" is checked on both Macs.
I can't find anything on my Mac that says" On My Mac" as in the link you sugessted?
Appologies for me struggling with this.

  • Syncing iCal on two different Macs

I have a MacBook Pro and an iMac and would love to sync my calendars but don't know how. Can someone help me? And no, I don't have access to iDisk, i.e., MobileMe.
    Appreciatively,
    Ron

DropBox is fairly straight-forward, see here: [http://mac-curious.com/2009/08/sync-ical-using-dropbox/|http://mac-curious.com /2009/08/sync-ical-using-dropbox>
In practice, that only syncs desktops and doesn't help with your phone. It's also a little dangerous if you have multiple computers opening and modifying the files in Dropbox at the same time (as far as I know, iCal isn't designed to recognize when the files are being changed by another program while it's running).
A better idea is to use Google Calendar. In that scenario, your reference calendar is Google, and everything syncs with it. You need to first make an account on calendar.google.com. After you've made the account, you can create multiple calendars, share them with others, and access calendars they share with you.
Follow these instructions here for adding your Google calendars to iCal: [http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=99358#ical|h ttp://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=99358#ical]
They work just like local calendars, but the data is copied to/from the Google servers.
Your iPhone also has built-in CalDAV support for connecting to Google calendar. On the phone, go to the Setting application and click on Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Click on Add Account... then "Other". Click on Add CalDAV Account and provide your Google calendar info (server is "www.google.com", username is your e-mail address, password is your Google account password).
If you use Google calendar, you can have several calendars in iCal / on your iPhone. When you modify a calendar, the client changes the local copy and the copy on the server at the same time (and those changes propagate to everyone with access to that calendar, including everyone you've shared a calendar with).
For what it's worth, you can do basically the same thing with Google and Address Book. I haven't set that up yet, but I'm considering it.

  • Sync iCal across two computers?

    Hi there -
I just bought a router, and it's working beautifully. I was wondering if it is possible to sync my iCal from my home desktop iMac to my iBook (without using .Mac or a palm device) through my router?

As indicated above, the solution is to use SyncTogether from Mark/Space.
You should never attempt to use a Palm device as a data 'carrier' to synchronize data, as severe record corruption will result.
The synchronization framework, including clients like the Address Book, iCal, iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit, as well as replacements for it like the Missing Sync for Palm OS and supplemental sync-aware applications like Entourage, Transmit and Yojimbo are not intended to support such procedures. You need to use a dedicated tool like SyncTogether or .Mac Sync to achieve what you want.

  • Sync two Macs without .mac??

    Hello there...
Is there any way to sync two macs without using .mac? I have a G4 iBook and a G5 iMac and I would like to sync their iCal so both calendars look the same on each computer.
    Thank you for your help.
    Hagen

Free eh? (Why does everybody want something for nothing these days?)
Well, there is notMac, but you need your own server, and alot of time and technical know-how to set it up.
Otherwise nothing free... developers (like regular people) generally like to be paid for their work and long hours.
For $25 you can get iSynCal
For $20 you can get BusySync

  • Is it possible to sync numbers between iPad and iPhone and mac

Is it possible to sync Numbers between iPhone and iPad and IMac.  I work in a school and want to keep test scores for my class in the one place without having to manually update the spreadsheets each time I enter scores.
    Thanks in advance
    Conor

Yes, Numbers syncs (very well) via iCloud.  You need to activate Numbers iCloud sync on all of your devices.
On the Mac, go to System Preferences > iCloud and make sure Documents & Data is checked.  Also click the Options... button next to Documents & Data and check Numbers.app.
On each iOS device, go to Settings > iCloud > Documents & Data > and turn on Numbers. Also go to Settings > Numbers and turn on Use iCloud.
After you've got things working, it's best to close down the Numbers document on one device before you use it on another.

  • HT1977 Is it possible to sync apps from two different iTunes stores?

I have an Australian and US iTunes account and I've bought apps from both but when I try to sync them to my iPhone only the US apps sync. Is it just not possible to sync from both?

As far as I know, you can only access the iTunes store of the country you are currently in.

  • Can't sync ical across two users on the same Mac

I hope I can get some help.
My wife and I had our ical's sync'd when we had a .mac account. My .mac account expired and we upgraded to Mobileme. Since then we have not been able to sync our icals on the same mac.
I spent an hour with chatting with apple mobileme tech support to no avail.
Any suggestions or solution would be great.

Thanks for your reply, but this article is telling me to do exactly what I already tried.  I just get the message: "The folder “Drop Box” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents."

  • Sync iCal to two macs

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to sync my ical calendars (one on my imac and one on my mbp- both running lion) wirelessly or using air dorp or anyother way?

    Greetings Carolyn,
To sync calendars between several Macs you have some choices:
    - If you are a current MobileMe member, you can use MobileMe to sync the calendars. If you are not a MobileMe member at present, it will be replaced in the fall by iCloud which will have a similar calendar sharing ability: http://www.apple.com/icloud/
    - Use a free calendar service like Google Calendars. (Type in "Set up a calendar account in iCal" in the iCal help menu for details or just ask if you want more info on that option)
    - Use a sync program to sync the calendars across the Macs: http://www.busymac.com/busysync/
If you would like more details on one of these options just ask.
    Cheers.

  • Can you sync ical from two imacs across a lan/network

Hi Forgive me if this has already been asked previously. I am new here
We have 2 iMacs at home and want to sync our ical's
Is this possible without third party software or subscribing to mobile me!
    Thanks
    Ian

The simplest way is to publish your both calendar to google calendar using CalDAV:
    http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=99358#
and each of you can see both within iCal and even modify the other calendar if the rights are done.
An alternative is to use iCal Exchange(http://www.icalx.com/) but in this case each can only see the other calendar, not modify it.
It works very well here. Good luck
