Possible to sync photos from Aperture to iPod via iTunes?

When I used iPhoto, I set iTunes to sync photos from the iTunes Library with my iPod. Now that I use Aperture, there is no equivalent option to have iTunes look at the original photos in Aperture and copy them to the iPod so I can view them.
I can copy a Vault from Aperture to the iPod, but that's like copying any other data file -- it is stored, but photos cannot be viewed.

Well, that was an interesting idea, Colin, but it didn't work. I opened iTunes, and then dragged the Aperture repository into it. It seemed to acknowledge it (when I dragged it onto iTunes, the "dragging" icon wasn't x'ed out), but it didn't add anything to the library.
If you try to do an "Add to Library" from iTunes, and then navigate to the Aperture repository, the repository folder is grayed out. It can't be selected. Same for a backup Vault created from Aperture.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. It's always worth experimenting. (Assuming everything is backed up. )

  • Problems syncing photos from iphoto to ipod via itunes

I have been having some difficulty getting my itunes to sync iphoto contents to my ipod. This worked fine for ages, but has just stopped working. I can sync photos from a standalone folder. Following a discussion on the ipod forum (for full details see: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1872524&start=0&tstart=0 ) we have established it is something in the iphoto library that is causing the problem. A new library works fine, but switch back and itunes does not recognise it. I am hoping that someone here can help me identify what could be causing the problem.
    Any thoughts welcome.

ps I have also posted this in the iphoto forum, see here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1876616

Resetting your iPod puts the iPod's software in factor default. It doesn't erase anything. Restoring the iPod erases your iPod's content and puts a fresh copy of the OS on it. Restoring is a more extreme way to solve a problem. Use restore if a reset doesn't work. If a restore doesn't work, then its not likely that a reset would help. Sorry for the late reply, I was busy with classes. Cheers mate.

  • Changing Sync photos from: Aperture to iPhoto on iTunes

I marked my previous question as solved by mistake.
I still have a problem in iTunes to sync my photos to my iPhone 6. It shows only available "Copy photos from: Aperture".
I would like to switch this back iPhoto and cannot find the way.
    Thank you.

  • Sync Photos in Aperture to IPod using iTunes

My photo IPod is sync'd to my primary Aperture(1.5) library. That function worked well. You can have multiple libraries in Aperture, one of them is the primary library and I have another one on my laptop. You set the library location under preferences and then close and restart Aperture. I originally sync'd the primary library to the iPod. Now I want to change the library and sync the laptop library with the iPod. I can't find where I can tell iTunes (7.3.1) to change libraries.

  • Syncing Photos from Aperture to Ipod touch (how to order the photos?)

I have some photos on my ipod touch from my aperture library, all good. But they sync in a different order to how they are stored in Aperture. I think it syncs by photo name alphabetically?
Is there a way to set the order of the photos by the date they were taken?
This is surely not to difficult an option to have, and i am sure ipod software up to 2.1 had this feature.
Please Do not tell me to rename my photos.

  • Syncing photos from Aperture, only first photo in one Event

When I sync photos from Aperture to iPad I find all the photos in "Photo" but only the first photo under "Events". The same happens with iPod touch and Photos in iWeb.
Where is the setting for getting all the photos in one particular event? The photos have been transferred to iPad but not to the Events with the exception of the first one. When I click on an Event in Aperture the particular Event opens with all the photos contained.

Can someone help me with this?

  • Sync photos from Aperture

I would like to sync some photos/albums with my iPhone using Aperture. I went through the following steps:
    1. Imported images from iPhone to a project in Aperture
    2. Created an empty album in Aperture
    3. Dragged and dropped images from the project (from import) to the album
    4. In iTunes I went to the "Photos" tab of my connected iPhone
    5. Selected Sync Photos from Aperture
    6. Clicked on the "Selected Albums" radio button
    7. A bunch of albums/smart albums/projects are listed in the window, including the album I created in step 2 above
    8. I select the album (from step 2 above) but it says there are 0 images in it. When I look in Aperture the images are definitely showing in the album
How do I get iTunes to recognize that the album I create has images, and thus move the album over to the iPhone?

I believe I have it figured out. In the Aperture preferences, under the "Previews" tab, is a checkbox labeled "New projects automatically generate preview." This needs to be checked in order to sync images from Aperture albums to your iPhone.
Otherwise, if that box wasn't checked when you created a new project, when you create an album in Aperture and put images in it, iTunes won't recognize that there are images in there.
Note that if you are importing a lot of photos into Aperture, make sure you give Aperture time to generate previews for all of the images before you go back to iTunes to view that album for syncing. All of the previews have to be generated before iTunes will recognize that the album/project has any images.

  • Cannot sync photos from Aperture using iTunes

Yesterday I took 16 photos using a Canon 5D Mark III and uploaded them into Aperture and created a new project to hold them. The I wanted to transfer them into my iPhone so I went to iTunes, connected the iPhone via USB cable and in the left hand side bar under Photos I clicked "Sync Photos", selected "Chose photos from Aperture" and "Events from the last 3 months" and in the events list that appears below, the new project appears checked. The I clicked on Sync and left the iPhone and the MBP connected overnight and it stayed in Step 7 of 7 Importing Photos....
Any ideas on why I have not been able to import that project from Aperture into the iPhone using iTunes?

Make sure everything is installed and up to date...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Updating iPod's Software
Also, try syncing from a different folder with photos. See if that one works.
Finally, see if this works/applies/gets you anywhere...

  • Syncing photos from Aperture to Apple TV

I have first generation Apple TV to which I sync music and photos from an iMac using a wireless connection.
Until recently I used iPhoto. Now I have installed Aperture and cannot get this to sync.
The dropdown menu says "Sync photos from:..."
    iPhoto
    Choose folder…
    Pictures
Aperture is nowhere to be seen.
How do I get Aperture to appear in the menu?

Syncing works by copying selected content to the tv HDD, after which you no longer need any connection to itunes to be able to play this content.
Selection is made either manually or automatically in your sync options within itunes depending on which you choose, automatic sync will sync things like the most recent unwatched items for you.
Anything that isn't synced to the tv can be watched through the streaming of content from your itunes library on your mac/pc, so for streaming to work, you need itunes to be running.

  • Photos from Mac still appearing on iPhone, even though "sync photos from iPhoto" is unticked in iTunes?

A colleague has all his Mac photos showing up on his iPhone, even though the "Sync with iPhoto" tickbox is unticked when he syncs it with iTunes. He has PhotoStream turned off. What else is possible to clear the photos off his iPhone please?

Have him try putting the checkmark back in front of "Sync Photos From" on the Photos page of iTunes and change the selection of photos to be synced so that only one or two new photos is selected (and none of the existing ones) and then sync. If that removes the existing ones, then remove the checkmark and sync again.

  • Is it possible to sync photos from a finder folder AND Aperture at once?

    Hello!
I have a folder of images in Finder that I wish to sync to my brand new iPad. Said images include things like desktops, artwork, and other things that I want in the iPad, but not in Aperture. I also have a few constantly changing albums in Aperture I'd like to keep in sync with the iPad. Unfortunately, while iTunes makes it easy to sync from Finder OR Aperture, I don't see a way to sync from both at the same time. Is there a way to do this? Or, is it possible to merely drag the files from the finder to the iPad, without importing them into Aperture?
    Thanks for suggestions,
    -Dan

As far as I can tell no you can't. I use Aperture and Lightroom. What I've done with use iPhoto as my iPad photo app and I only put the photos I need on the iPad in there. Not the most efficient for space on the computer but works well for the iPad since I get only the specific albums I want on there. I separate things into albums for photos, wallpapers, etc...
