Possible to use 3 finger swipe to navigate in other browsers?

The three finger swipe forward/backward is great for browsing, but it seems to only work in Safari. Firefox is my preferred browser and I'm wondering if there's a way to enable it in any browser other than Safari. Thanks.

Try the program called MultiClutch, you can customise lots of shortcuts using finger gestures using it. And it works on pretty much all programs.

  • 3 finger swipe to navigate Safari

On my old MBP (2.66 Ghz Core 2 duo running 10.6.8) I could always navigate between pages in Safari using a 3 finger swipe (left for back, right for forward). My new 2.7 Ghz i7 with 10.8.4 won't do it. I've tried Safari Preferences and System Preferences trackpad settings with no avail. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hey DigitMus,
Thanks for the question. With the introduction of Lion, the swipe to navigate default gesture changed to a two-finger scroll. System Preferences > Trackpad provides three options for "Swipe between pages":
    - Scroll left or right with two fingers
    - Swipe with three fingers
    - Swipe with two or three fingers
You'll want to make sure this preference is set as you wish, and checked to be enabled. For more information, see these resources:

Swipe to navigate – Web pages in Safari, documents in Preview and more, just like thumbing a page in a book. Note: If there is horizontal content to scroll, this gesture will first scrolls to the end of content and then it will move to the next page.
              - Magic Trackpad – A horizontal two finger swipe will show the next or previous page. Tip: Once you pass the rubber-band threshold, lift your fingers to change page.  Also you can flick your fingers at the end of the swipe for momentum.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • "Server not found" error on every site after some use, the pages work fine in other browsers

I'm getting the "Server not found - Firefox can't find the server at blablabla.com" error after using Firefox for a while, sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes 2 hours. This error appears on every single page, and does not go away until I restart Firefox. Google Chrome can load these pages with no problem, so it's not a problem with my internet connection. I've already done everything on this page:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Server%20not%20found
And it did not help at all.
I have not installed any new extensions, plugins, userscripts or anything like this, and everything was working perfectly fine until a week ago.

I've encountered 404 errors and xmarks keeps popping up when I try to open igoogle.
All of the is in Firefox4.0 Beta 8.
I don't have any problem in Chrome, no 404 errors, no xmarks showing up when it should be the igoggle search page.
    Most disconcerting.

  • My printer will not print using Mozilla. No problem with other browsers. This is a new problem. Mozilla worked until last week.

My printer works fine when I print from Microsoft Word or other browsers.

  • (Started yesterday) I cannot access contacts in Gmail using Firefox. Works fine in other browsers. Is there a fix?

All of sudden clicking Contacts in Gmail brings no response except the "loading" box display.
This just started out of the blue, I have not changed anything. Gmail works with all other browser (Opera, IE, and Chrome)
It also appears that "Setting" button will invoke the same response.
I have cleared the cache etc.

  • 2 finger swipe in mission control instead of 3 finger

I have an old white macbook which is not able to use 3-finger gestures. So I cannot swipe between the different desktops in mission control. I know that I can use the alt key and then press a desktop of choice or a keyboard shortcut but I would prefer to use the trackpad.
Therefore i ask: Is it possible to use 2 finger swipe in mission control to switch between desktops instead of 3 fingers?

There is no option to use 2 finger swipe for page browsing or iTunes
    Just the horizontal scrolling
But I think you think I have a Macbook Pro who is able to do 3 finger swiping, but that's not true, the maximum number of fingers this one can detect is only 2
That's why I'm asking if I can use a 2 finger swipe for these abilities

  • Three-finger swipe in system preferences?

After I recently re-installed OS X and did the necessary upgrades to 10.6.5, it seems that my Three-finger swipe in system preferences stopped working. Before, I could navigate the system preferences menu going back and forth with the three-finger swipe but now? nothing... anybody has any idea how to fix? I tried re-resetting the PRAM and check/re-checking + reboot but nothing seems to work...
however, the three finger swipe works in all other applications such as chrome and firefox...

I never knew this to exist in sys preference. Not sure how this would work since you are not highlighting anything, just selecting???

  • 2 finger swipe in Safari/iTunes

    I have a late 2007 Macbook Pro with 10.6.2.
As you know it has 2 finger scrolling, but no 3 finger swiping
But now I was thinking, it registers 2 finger horizontal scrolling, shouldn't it be able to switch that to a swipe?
So I mean that if I do a 2 finger swipe in Safari, it goes to the previous/next page and in iTunes it goes to the previous/next song.
    Thanks!

  • Is there a "swipe to navigate" feature on the older Macbook?

I know that there are no multi-touch gestures, but I thought that the two-finger swipe would be available since that is how vertical and horizontal scrolling is handled.
Is there a way to enable the two-finger swipe to navigate back and forth through pages?
    Thanks.

I believe you'd need to add either a Magic TrackPad

    Or a Magic Mouse

    Hey Eric,
Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.
Again, thanks for trying, it is appreciated.

  • How can I get a display of all running programs in lion like I used to get when I did a 4 finger swipe in snow leopard?

how can I get a display of all running programs in lion like I used to get when I did a 4 finger swipe in snow leopard?
I liked to turn off running programs without a window that I was no longer using
    thanks.
Best I can do now is to open the "force quit" window and click on programs I want to stop and then send each one a "command-Q" and then repeat as necessary

  • Can't use 2 finger gesture to navigate to the previous page

In the Mac App Store on my 15" 2012 rMBP running Mavericks, if I try to use the 2 finger gesture to navigate to the previous page, the app will freeze. I have to restart the Mac App Store every single time this happens. Anybody have any idea what's going on?
    Thanks!

The Mac App Store is based on the same technology as Safari, WebKit and I have seen the behavior that you describe in Safari. So I venture that it's an issue with WebKit. The only way I have seen to get it to stop is a restart.

  • HT4112 how does one navigate with out the use of a mouse? do we still need to use finger to move to different things?

how does one navigate the keyboard without a mouse. Do we still use finger to move from place to place?

Yes you still need to use your finger to do all of the things that you need to use it for even if you use a wireless keyboard. You are merely adding a larger more robust keyboard to the device. You are not replacing the touch gestures features with the use of an external keyboard.
