Possible to use Acrobat Pro 9.3.2 with Safari 5?

Prior to recent installation of Safari 5, I was able to view pdfs in my browser window using the fully-featured Acrobat plug-in. Now, the only choice I seem to have is disable the Acrobat reader and use Preview.
Is there any way to get my Adobe functionality back?
Adobe tells me 9.3.2 Pro is the latest. Safari 5.0 seems to be the latest too.
I am running 10.5.8.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

After considerable experimentation, I've gotten it to work, but with issues I'd like to pursue:
1. After a few quits, restarts and cache clearing, I have noticed that I cannot view pdfs (a) on websites I've created using Rapid Weaver 4.4.1 (latest) (b) if they are password protected unless (c) I have saved the username and password to my keychain.
2. All other commercial websites, protected or otherwise, that have pdfs I can download without difficulty.
3. All pdfs on sites/directories of my own creation that are not password protected download and show just fine.
Is this an issue with my Rapid Weaver pages? My web host?
I'd like to be able to log in on my laptop, enter my username and password to gain access to the site, without putting the info on my keychain, if possible.

  • Acrobat Pro 8.2.6 with Win XP on SP 3 - Illegible Printing Issue

I'm using Acrobat Pro 8.2.6 with Win XP on SP 3.
Several weeks ago my PDF files, whether received via email or generated by scanning, cause a problem when I attempt to print.  When the PDF is printed to either one of three printers or to Adobe PDF to create a new PDF, the document changes to a dark grey background and the text ends up with a halo around it causing the document to be illegible. I don’t believe the printers to be part of the issue as they are multiple makes / models, of which two are network printers and the remaining printer is attached via a serial port.
I've used the original software to patch/repair several times, which works in the short run.  Once the PC is shut down though, or goes overnight, the graying-out issue resumes.
I have also used the "Optimized Scanned PDF" function, under Documents, which clears up most of the issues but any bolded or italicized text still has a residual halo so that portion is illegible.
Any ideas how to fix this ongoing issue?
    Thank you,

    >only fails on a certain account
That would SEEM to indicate it is a permissions issue
Different software, but with Adobe Encore on Win7 I can create a single layer DVD the "usual" way, but to create a dual-layer DVD I must right click the Encore icon and select Run as Administrator from the pop up option list
Give that a try... or, maybe, go to the Acrobat EXE and right click and select to always Run as Administrator (if that option is there for WinXP)
Note that for Win7 (maybe for WinXP ???) simply BEING the Administrator seems to be different than using the Run as Administrator option

  • Possibility to execute Acrobat Pro's "Combine files into PDF" function from within SAP?

    Good day.
Presently, a company uses Acrobat Pro to manually combine files such as *.pdf, *.jpg, *.doc, which have been downloaded from SAP's Document Management System, into one pdf file. I would like to know if it is possible to automatically execute Acrobat Pro's "Combine files into PDF" function from within SAP (ECC 6.0) application system. I'm wondering if this could be achieved from a program via OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) or RFC (remote function call).
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and inputs.

Yes, you can combine PDF files via IAC/COM methods.

  • I am trying to use Acrobat Pro version XI to crop my PDF but can't find the "PAGES" tools

I have a 1 page PDF that is 9.5 inches wide with about 1.5 inches of margin.  I want to crop off the extra white space and center the image so that it fits on a normal letter sized page.  However, I can't find any sort of crop or trim command in Acrobat.  When I google cropping a PDF I find references to a crop command that is in some sort of "pages" collection of tools but I don't have any pages menu either.  Is there a way to use Acrobat Pro for cropping ?  How?
I also have photoshop and have tried importing and cropping there but when I export the image back to PDF format I find that its 10X the size it started.  Its important for my purposes that the file be small.

Well it was installed yesterday and I spent hours trying to find the option  as virtually the first thing I did when I launched it, so I'm quite sure I would have remembered if I changed it.  However it was installed by a push from our corporate software distribution system so maybe that has a way of reconfiguring some options. Why they'd bother is a mystery to me though.  Anyway, good to know, thanks again

  • How Can I Create a Print Button on a PDF Using Acrobat Pro That Will Also Work on iOS?

I created a Print Button on a PDF document using Adobe Acrobat Pro on my Mac.  The Print button works perfectly on different browsers on my Mac and on Windows (running under Parallels Desktop) as well.
When I open the document on my iPad the Print button doesn't even appear.  I am guessing that this is a Flash issue but it may be more related to the fact the the action for the button is to access the Print menu item, which doesn't exist under iOS.
Is there any way to create a Print button using Acrobat Pro that will work on a Mac and Windows but also on iOS?

In order to initiate printing by clicking a button, the button has to have either an "execute menu item" type action or use the "print" JavaScript method. As you guessed, the former won't work since there are no menu items to execute, and the latter can only work if the particular PDF viewer you're using supports it. I'm not aware of any that do on iOS.
The button doesn't appear because you're probably opening it in the default PDF viewer, which doesn't support forms at all. If you were to open the form in Adobe Reader, you'd see the button but it wouldn't work.

  • Mac using Acrobat Pro v9 can't connect to shared review hosted on Sharepoint server.

A person at our company has a Mac with Acrobat Pro v9 and can't connect to our shared review hosted on a Sharepoint server. The shared review is initiated from a PC using Acrobat Pro X.
They can access/login to the Sharepoint server via Safari on the same computer both inside the company and from outside.
They used to have it working just fine for months, then suddenly (recently) it stopped working and it just keeps saying that it can't connect.
When trying to connect, Acrobat doesn't ask for credentials. I've tried hunting down where those credentials are stored to try and delete them to force it to ask again, but no luck there either.
I also have a Mac (but I'm running Acrobat Pro XI and now DC) and I can access the same shared review that doesn't work for them. And I can't seem to break it for me (as an effort to figure out their problem).
Any helpful guidance on how to get things back on track would be greatly appreciated. My head hurts from beating it against my desk. :-|
    Thanks!

Several of us encountered the same issue running MAC OS X on Acrobat Pro XI.  I'm tagging your question to see if someone provides a solution.

    Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

  • How can I insert an image at the original resolution into a PDF using Acrobat Pro XI

Got an image created in Photoshop at 300DPI 2480 pixels wide by xx high.  Saved as a TIFF.
When I insert that image in my PDF (A4 210mm x 297mm) using Acrobat Pro XI via "Content Editing->Add Image" it appears smaller than the page width of the PDF, and I must manually resize the inserted image by dragging with my mouse.
Documentation says the image is inserted at the original image resolution, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
Also tried creating another image in Photoshop using 210mm width @ 300 DPI (instead of 2480 pixels @ 300DPI), got the same results.
    Can anyone help?  Cheers.

You should maybe take a step back. Nobody composes pages in Acrobat.

  • Enable Attachment commenting in Reader using Acrobat Pro 8

I am using Acrobat Professional 8. My document consists of a main form that needs one form field filled and many pages stamped. There are also several attachments, each with form fields and/or the need for stamps.
Once released, the document will reside in a central storage program to be accessed by many different users on several PCs. We are currently installing the latest Acrobat Standard package on computers to enable use of our new form(s).
    I have 2 questions:
    1) Is there a way to create the document (using Acrobat Pro 8) such that Reader can use both stamps and form functions? If so, how about attachments?
    2) Is there any way to easily port custom stamps to different PCs? I've tried dropping the "C:\Documents and Settings\nnnn\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0\Stamps\....pdf" file into All Users, but Acrobat 8 Pro doesn't see it there. I've also tried dropping the file into user-specific folders, but other users still do not see the stamps.

    If you get this:
    Invalid "Adobe PDF" printer properties
    Do not change spooler settings.
Please select "print directly to the printer" option (from Adobe PDF printer properties "advanced" tab)
    Try this:
Find the Acrobat printer in Printers.
Right click on it and select Properties then the Advanced Tab.
For me, "Spool print documents..." was selected.
The Fix:  Deselect "Enable advanced printing features".
    Click OK.

  • How do I edit a "fill and print form" using Acrobat Pro XI?

We recently upgraded to Adobe Acrobat Pro, version 11. We have some staff who previously created "fill and print" forms with Adobe Acrobat 10. However, now when they try to use version 11 to edit the form, they receive the following message: This form cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form.
If I remember correctly, version 10 (or some package suite) use to install LiveCycle along with version 10. This doesn't seem to be the case with version 11. So... How do we obtain LiveCycle Designer? Is it still available to install on a desktop or is it only available in the cloud?  Or, preferably, is there a way to edit the form using Acrobat Pro version 11?
I don't work with Adobe forms, so any information you can provide will be extremely helpful. Thanks.

LCD forms can only be edited in LCD. However, Adobe stopped distributing LCD together with Acrobat. You need to purchase it separately now, but if you had a previous license you can get it at a large discount, I think. Try the LCD forums for more info about that.

  • How does I resize a pdf file page using Acrobat Pro?

In Acrobat Pro, how can one resize a pdf file page (21.38'' x 26.75'') into one measuring 6'' x 9'', to be submitted as the trim size? Is there a feature that allows this to be done? How does one set all print options from the Application print dialog box to enable one to adjust the dimensions of any customized file page?

I want to scale the 21.4'' by 26.8'' content down to one that can be fitted inside a 6'' by 9'' book.
I have this pdf that was created from the InkFlow app, and I'm using Acrobat Pro to merge three files into one (about 300MB), which I needed to submit to Amazon's CreateSpace, but they needed the trim size of 6'' by 9'', while the pdf is 21.4''' by 26.8'', and I can't amend the source file size of the InkFlow files.
I tried fiddling with the Crop and Print options, but I'm unable to resize the pdf to match the trim size. The problem on my side isn't so much on printing but to resize the pdf file page to 6'' by 9'' to satisfy Amazon's requirement for their trim size. Could this be done with Acrobat Pro? The message that appears is: Full print options of Acrobat Pro, set all print options from the Application print dialog box. Thank for the help.

I am trying to convert a PDF to a Word document using Acrobat Pro 9 but am unable to find "Content to edit" under tools.  Do I need a newer version?

Acrobat 9 Pro (not Standard) can export ("convert") PDF to Word, RTF, or other text formats.
    Click-path:  File - Export
    Take your pick.
With install of Acrobat 9 the Help PDF is installed also.
From the this PDF's Bookmarks expand Chapter 5's bookmark and select "Convert PDFs to Word".

  • Is it possible to use Acrobat 9 sdk to check accessibility?

Is it possible to use Acrobat 9 sdk to check accessibility of a pdf and get whether the pdf is accessible or not?
I've found InvokeAccessibilityCheckerCmdSnip.cpp that seems to call accessibility validator, but I don't know if that will make what I need.
I've been asked to include an accessibility validation utility in a Content Server after loading a pdf.
    Thanks in advance.

I purchased an annual subscription to Acrobat Pro XI and installed on my Mac two days ago. I cannot open PDFs. I keep getting a dialogue box saying my trial has ended and asking if I want to buy the software. Was using Acrobat Pro 9 previously. It appears even that won't open. SOS!

    Hi Margot ,
You can click on accept or buy ,which ever option you see on that dialog box.It will prompt you to type in your Adobe Credentials. You can license it by doing the same.
If it still doesn't work ,follow these steps and see how it goes .
Delete all the files from following folders:
    [Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore
    [Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLCache
And, delete all files from following folder except cache.db
    [Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AdobePCD
Then launch Acrobat and try to activate and check.
