Possibly a logic issue? Using EWQL PLAY as a plugin
I recently installed 2 PLAY libraries from EWQL, and have tried them as stand alones with no problems. I am supposed to be able to find PLAY in the same place I have Kontakt 3. AU instruments --> EWQL, but it is not there.
I tried troubleshooting elsewhere, and was told to check that the play component file was present in Macintosh HD --> Library --> Audio --> Plugins --> Components folder. It was there, so I trashed it, reinstalled the most recent PLAY update, verified that it was present afterward, and restarted logic...
Still not there in the plugin menu. Anything I can do to change this?
Found the audio units manager, checked the box that was unchecked, validated it, it's there now!
Thanks much

However, the latest Mac build which i believe is v4.2.x.. has restored some of the stability... but still not enough to prevent such issues happening from time to time.
The release notes for it are as follows
Fixed an issue that could prevent projects saved with Play 3 opening in Play 4
Fixed a temporary hang when loading projects in Logic Pro X, or when a dialogue window is triggered
Fixed MIDI level reset in Cubase
Fixed large patches sometimes crashing on Mavericks
Fixed mixer outputs changing when updating Play
Fixed VU meter not working in some hosts
Fixed keyfile error when loading some VOTA patches
Mute/Solo buttons in Mixer now function correctly
(I highlighted the partial fixes for the issue you seem to be having..)
http://www.soundsonline.com/Support
Sorry, not what you wanted to hear I'm sure but your best option is to update Play to the latest version and then say a prayer... Hopefully it will restore some of the stability that is apparently currently and sadly missing... on your system.
Cheers..

Logic not using multiple cores?
I have a project that seems to be burning out my CPU. The music starts distorting and crackling, and I've noticed that the little CPU indicator is hitting the top of the chart. But, I also have the iStat monitor installed, and the CPU never reads as going above 50%.
I have a dual core intel, is it possible that Logic is using only one core?I have the same problem.
On a i7 iMac with 16 gigs of ram. Logic is only using one core no matter what settings I use (auto, 8 or 4), and even using the bus rerouting trick the plugins still run on the same core. That core create glitch when it reaches 100%, but really only 25% of my iMac is used.
Way to get us spending money, pay 3000$ for a computer that is 4 times faster than the previous one, but then your limited to 25% of what you paid for. -
Possible to play Movie in Logic without the sequence playing too?
In Digital Performer, you can un-lock (un-sync) the Movie window so that you can click on its Quicktime Play button and play it independently from the sequence. This way you can experiment with different start times for the music for other parts of the film you're working on. It looks like this is not possible in Logic 8. The Movie window is ALWAYS playing when the sequence is playing, and you cannot play the Movie by itself just to watch it alone. Is there a way around this?
O.K.
Before you go ahead I would suggest you make a copy of your iDVD application as a backup just in case anything goes wrong. Also make sure it's not running.
Next right-click on the iDVD app and choose "Show Package Contents" - it will open just like a folder.
The theme resides in this location:
iDVD/Contents/Resources/20TransparentBlack.theme
The theme files are packages just as the application itself so right-click it and go to:
20TransparentBlack.theme/Contents/Resources/MenuBackground.pox/Contents/Material/
Inside there's a TIFF file
CB7F3266-25EA-11D8-9A70-000393AE67F4.tif
That's the one that needs to be edited; open it in PS Elements.
The next step requires you to access the image's alpha channel, not sure if that's possible in Elements but here it goes.
The alpha channel should look greyish, that's because it half-transparent. Select all (Apple-A) and fill the channel with pure black, that will make it totally transparent so it won't show anymore.
Save the file, close it and also close all open iDVD folders.
Start iDVD by double-clicking - the theme should now appear without the black band.
One word of caution: I only applied this modification very recently and haven't used the theme yet to actually burn a DVD so you might want to keep a copy of the original in a safe location.
Cheers Martin
PS: here are some tutorials on customizing iDVD 3 although I think the principles still apply to iDVD 4:

Any possible issues using Captivate 4 on Vista 64-bit OS?
Hi:
Looking to order a new PC and load up on ram for Captivate 4 and some other applications I am using.
I realize Captivate 4 is not certified for use on a Vista 64 bit OS, but I am wondering if I will run into a bunch of performance issues or what your experience may be using C4 on a 64 bit machine. I heard it is possible to force Captivate 4 to run as a 32bit application, but I don't know specifically how to do it.
Any feedback is appreciated.None that I found. I worked with adobe for a while and they sent me a couple of patchs that were supposed to fix the problem, and while I eventually could record audio, I never was able to edit it. Adobe eventually lost interest and stopped responding to my requests. I think it has something to do with Vista becasue I am running xp on a brand new 64bit Mac at home and it works fine.

DB LINK issue using in a Procedure
Hello All, I'm having an issue using DB link in a procedure to collect data into a pl/sql table.
Table1 which is in 10g version being accessed by a DB link and has around 1 million records. Using this link I’m selecting data into another schema DB (which is 11g) into pl/sql table. To my surprise through an anonymous block I can populate data into pl/sql table less than half minute. If i use the same logic by creating a procedure, it takes forever? Is this something to do with the DB versions?
Appreciate your help. Thanks!In that case you should be using a local table to hold the data.
Create either a permanent local table or a global temporary table and populate it directly from the remote DB:
INSERT /*+ APPEND */ INTO myLocalTable SELECT * FROM remoteTable@dblink
{coded}
Modify your procedure to load the local table and then process the data locally.
The procedure should use SQL whenever possible. -
Unable to see/use the play bar in Captivate
Hello,
I'm happy to join you on this forum, as I have tried to find
(and did :)) answers for some of the problems I have experienced
when learning how to use the Adobe tools.
The latest issue I've encountered was when trying to view a
Captivate presentation.
It was already published on the Connect server and it could
be perfectly viewed on my computer.
However, an user I have sent the URL to tells me that he
could see and use no play bar (!!!)
Therefore, the actions like pause, go back and forth etc.
were no longer available for him.
What do you think?
Is there something missing from the PC system that could not
allow the good "reading" of my Captivate movie or....?
Thank you very much for your answer and help!
Regards,
OanaHi Oana
This would seem to indicate that possibly the link provided
to your other person was perhaps pointing to the main movie .SWF
file and not the HTML file. Can you check to ensure where the link
was pointing?
With Captivate 2, at the basic level of output, you should
see four files:
* One is a .SWF containing your main movie. Perhaps named
MainMovie.SWF
* One is a .SWF containing the playback controls for the
skin. Perhaps named MainMovie_skin.SWF
* One is a JavaScript file named standard.js
* One is an HTML file that you should point your user to.
Perhaps named MainMovie.HTM
Those typical four files (and sometimes more) should all
exist on the server where everyone links to watch the movie. The
fact the main part of the movie is being viewed by your user
indicates that everything they need is installed and working
properly on their PC. It seems to indicate there are possible files
missing from the server. Not from the aspect of server
functionality, but from the aspect of what you need to make sure
ends up there so the Captivate movie can play and find all the
components.

How can I start playback when EWQL Play UI is open?
I am using EWQL choirs and in order for the text to be sung I must play the track holding the midi melody file. But when the Play UI is open,which it must be to accept the melodic input, Logic is completely unresponsive, clicking on start playback button in transport bar or just using the space bar to start the track playing only gives a white flash of light,Logic won't let me use it when the Play UI is open. Is there a known work around for this?
Put your Runtime process in another Thread and pass it a reference to your calling object. Then, when it's done call notify() on the caller:
class Runner extends Thread {
Object caller;
Runner(Object o) {
caller = o;
public void run() {
Runtime.exec()...
// and when it's done,
caller.notify();
}Your calling class will pass a ref to itself when it creates the Runner:
Runner r = new Runner(this);
r.start();
wait();
(I've never actually done this but from the documentation I've read I think it'll work) -
Bought upgrade on appstore. now it says its not available for download in indian store. how is it possible to buy it using indian currency!!!!????
Any solutionHI,
No SOLUTION FROM HERE, but I have an unresolved issue with similar overtones.
As a new member, having had a birthday gift from a family member in another country, I am dismayed to find out that there is an unresolved business logic issue, which will allow me to own a MacBook Air, but because I live in a different country to the place of purchase there is a big No No. Additionally, my pension provideds me with a credit card from that first origin, but I am forbidden from buying any software elswhere? Apple seem reluctant to discuss this with me, but some solutions have been offered to get me the free downloads?
Does this come under 'unfit for purpose' and/or 'dodgy trading'? Apple unspoken message, buying from abroad. Dont go there!
Any help or views?

could you pls tell me how to do this using parameter for user input selecting FILE PATH.
Do we have Functional module for Retrieving physical path
from logical path?
could you pls help me..
ambichan.hey,
Thanks for your reply.
Instead of using logical file name as input, can we allow the user to select logical path using parameter?
I want user to select Logical path or logical file name from parameter. is it possible?
(I want to avoid user to input insteal want to allow user to select the path)

Can I use air play to mirror anything that's on the screen of my iPad
I have the nfl gamerewind app on my iPad. I'd like to use air play to mirror the games from my iPad to my TV screen. Is this possible?
Or, is it possible to mirror the screen of my Windows 7 laptop to my TV using Apple TV?
Thanks for any help, I am very new to this, have never used Apple TV before.There are 2 kinds of Airplay - one which 'mirrors the display' on AppleTV (in iPAd 4:3 aspect ratio). Mirroring is only available on iPhone4S and later and iPad 2 and later and certain newer Macs. Mirroring is processor intensive as it compresses each display frame and sends the video to AppleTV as well as having to do what an app is doing.
The other kind of Airplay available on some older devices essentially sends a pre-rendered compatible file to AppleTV to play rather than a mirror of the screen.
Note - content providers can and do block certain things from working with Airpolay so check if it's a particular app, game or website you want to airplay.
You might want to check out Airparrot which might be able to mirror your Windows laptop to AppleTV. -
Please help! (I'm actually doing this for a friend but still)
All you need to know:
- iPhone 4 16GB
- iOS 6.0.3 (I think, not the latest iOS but the one before that)
- Song which started to act strange: niggas in Paris
- All songs work fine on headphones (including above)
- The song has been on the iPhone for a couple of months and used to play without any trouble
- When you play it on the iPhone's speakers you either only hear the background music, no sound at all (for a few seconds) or a weird old FM-radio noise
- Plays fine on iTunes
All help is appreciated!
Thanks.I have this issue too. Same specs, newest OS. Happening on "O.N.E." by Yeasayer, but doesn't play the vocals through the speaker or headphone jack, unlike your issue. I just get all but the vocal track no matter what. Plays fine in iTunes. If you never get that distortion through the speaker any other time, maybe you can delete the song.
In my case, I can't delete the song through the phone since I use iTunes Match, but if you actually sync the songs/download them, that would be my first suggestion (swipe across, hit "delete."). Maybe that would work? Then resyncing or redownloading.
If not, maybe resetting or restoring may be the fix. -
Help with Video Performance Issues using Flash
Asking on behalf of a customer who has been unable to get any answers so far - are you able to help?
Background:
We have a port of our Game Development Kit which allows us to recompile all our games using Crossbridge (http://adobe-flash.github.io/crossbridge/) into SWF without any code modifications.
Overview:
Our framework is using OpenGL for rendering and we have successfully ported it along with the audio and video to run in Flash.
We are experiencing performance issues using Video. We cannot use image sequence as some of the video animations are too long and would increase the download to an unacceptable size. Assets vary between 256x256 - 1024x1024 videos.Here's the rest of the story. Let me know if you can see any resolution, and I will connect him to the forums. Thank you.
Current Video Solution:
We create an instance of NetConnection, NetStream, and Video according to most samples out there, and invoke draw to rasterize the Video DisplayObject into a BitmapData instance.
The BitmapData instance has a fixed color component layout which is not compatible with Stage3D texture and is therefore has to be reformatted before uploaded to Stage3D Texture (See Code Listing below).
Our Problems:
Performance issues with RGBA conversion (either using copyChannel or manually reformatting is not fast enough) natively in as3; this required for stage3d texture.Copying each channel individual using bitmapdata.Copychannel seems faster, but not significantly faster.
Cannot detect when video frame has been updated, therefore we may copy pixels that are not needed in enterframe (processpixel).
Looping video, our current solution uses the NET_STATUS event Buffer empty; Is there a better way to loop videos than checking buffer and seeking to 0.
Stepping video, loading FLV or MP4 side by side assets from HTTP or embedded does not support stepping? Is there another way?
ActionScript Code Listing:
video_nc = new NetConnection();
video_nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS , onConnect);
video_nc.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR , trace);
video_nc.connect(null);
// OnConnect Event:
this.ns = new NetStream(e.target as NetConnection);
eventclient = new Object();
eventclient.onMetaData = onMetaData;
this.ns.client = eventclient;
ns.play(flvfile);
ns.pause();
//onMetaData event:
this.width = infoObject.width;
this.height = infoObject.height;
this.textureWidth = NextPowerOfTwo(this.width);
this.textureHeight = NextPowerOfTwo(this.height);
cliprect = new Rectangle(0, 0, this.width ,this.height);
cliprect.x = 0;
cliprect.y = 0;
cliprect.width = this.textureWidth;
cliprect.height = this.textureHeight;
totalFrames = infoObject.duration * infoObject.fps;
this.hasAlpha = true;
if(infoObject.videocodecid == 5)
this.hasAlpha = true;
this.bitmapData = new BitmapData(this.textureWidth, this.textureHeight, hasAlpha, 0xff000000);
this.video = new Video(this.width, this.height);
this.video.attachNetStream(ns);
this.video.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, processPixels);
// processPixel method:
BitmapData.draw(video);
GLAPI.instance.glBindTexture(GLAPI.GL_TEXTURE_2D,this.textureId);
var fmt:uint = GLAPI.GL_ARGB;
// converting pixels using copychannel or loop through pixels
GLAPI.instance.glBindTexture(GLAPI.GL_TEXTURE_2D,this.textureId);
GLAPI.instance.glTexImage2D(GLAPI.GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, fmt, this.textureWidth, this.textureHeight, 0,fmt, GLAPI.GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, 0, convBitmapData.getPixels(cliprect)); -
Is it possible to stop APEX using a cached query?
I was hoping that the issue where report regions sometimes show the error: "ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value" would be fixed in 3.1.1 however it seems not to have been (We have had it several times now). The workaround seems to be to change the query slightly such as selecting NULL as an additional column and then hiding that column.
This obviously only works AFTER the issue has occured, ie, after we have received a complaint from someone!
Is it possible to stop APEX using the cached version of some queries altogether? The ones we are calling are quite simple and so will not give that much overhead.
Thanks.I've actually found several threads on this from the past:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value
http://kr.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=644172&tstart=120 (This thread states the problem has been fixed however it would appear either it hasn't or there is a similar bug elsewhere.)
