Possibly solution to slow deleting if using Kapersky Internet Security

In case anyone has a similr problem i discovered today that the File AV within Kersky Internet Security 2010 is killing the process when deelting files making it take forever.  The solutions I have found so far are:
a) Turn off the File AV completely under settings
b)There is an option under  File AV / settings/additional go to "pause on application startup" click select and at the exe.
Hope that helps someone
Mike

FWIW, I have a similar problem with Webroot's Spy Sweeper - it seems to kill MOVE and DELETE performance.
When I've had to copy 100's or 1000's of large files, it will crawl and Windows will report "4 hours remaining"... I turn off the A/V and all of a sudden it's "2 minutes remaining".

You can only change the speed etc. of clips that are in a Project not while they are just in an Event.

  • Trouble connecting playbook to windows PC when using AVG Internet Security and USB cable ?

I have spent ages trying to get my PC (windows 7 64bit ) to talk to the Playbook. I found the following:
Windows device manager sees the playbook and will let me back up and restore but not to see the files on the Playbook. Desktop software says problem with connection. On the "computer" window it shows drives but not the Playbook. Only hard drive and DVD drives. Looks like AVG is blocking the USB and as yet they have not come up with a solution and latest software wont let you manually configure the firewall other than allow and block (previous versions allowed you to config inbound and outbound rules)
Elsewhere on the forums a solution was provided but it meant leaving the firewall set to "off" or "allow all" which really is a waste of time having a firewall at all.
Please try this and see if it resolves your problems, It sorted it for me !
    Remove AVG Internet Security 2014
Load AVG antivirus 2014 ( freeware) so now you are OK for antivirus protection
Load Microsoft Security Essentials (freeware) so now you are  OK for firewall protection
Playbook now talks and can be configured, also the contents of the playbook drive can be seen alongside your PC drives and DVD drives in the "computer" window of your PC  The playbook drive has now been allowed to be mounted where as it was blocked before
I know how frustrating this can be I have spent ages on it ..so give it a try

The USB-parallel cable needs a driver that supports Windows 7 x64 in addition to the driver the printer needs.  Additionally make sure the port settings are correct, usually the port will be something like USB001: or USB002: for the USB-parallel port. Some cables may provide a virtual LPT port such as LPT3:.  Check the documentation for your unit for details.
The posts here list models of USB-parallel ports folks here have had success with in Windows 7.

  • Possible solution to slow backup... Delete NY Times App

Hopefully this will help others that are experiencing slow sync of their iPhone.
I was having to wait 15-20 minutes to have the phone backup every time I sync'ed the phone. I have about 35 apps on the phone but once I removed the NY Times app the speed of the backup is now in the seconds

I had the same issue. At times I would wait up to 5 hours for the full back-up. Last Sunday I took some pictures with the phone and when I pressed the menu button the phone froze. I could see calls coming in but I couldn't pick them up. I tried to shut it off but when I sled the red slide to the right to shut it off it froze in that position and the phone wouldn't shut off. I mean, this was the crash of crashes!!! I went home and it allowed me to do a full back-up which took about 3 hours. After the back up the phone was in the same condition so I decided to restore it to factory settings. After restore I tried to sync with iTunes which informed me that an iPhone was previously sync and I could restore the phone so I did. It took about 3 hours and now the phone was back to normal but when I connected it again with iTunes it acted as it was the first time so it asked me to restore it again. I did and left it overnight. In the morning it was still half-way done so I decided to unplug. After I unplugged I checked and the phone was all good, just as before the crash. All the apps were there, all the info, absolutely everything. Even the levels in the games I have. I tried to sync one more time and this time it went through the back-up and sync so fast I got scared. I tried it again with the same results. Since then it only takes me a few minutes to sync and back-up and I have upwards of 30 apps on it and about 6Gb of music plus another 2Gb of pictures, podcasts, etc. Restoring it worked for me so it might work for you too.

  • Possible to update and delete child using JPA

    Hi,
I our J2EE application we have a regular @OneToMany relationship between User and Address ( with attribute mailAddress). So A user can have many mail-addresses.
In the User entity we have the following:
    @OneToMany(cascade=CascadeType.All )
    public Collection <Address>getAddress() {
}When we do an update on user and change the address the old address is not removed from the Address table. However the key is removed in the User_Address table.
How can I make sure in my updateUser() that I also remove the old mail address?
Am I missing anything here? I cannot be the first that bumped into this?!
What is a good solution on the problem?
    br,
    //mikael

    Hi mikael,
the reason your Address entity is not removed is because you never told JPA to delete it in the first place. Addresses are separate entities, and have a lifecycle of their own. Just because there are no more users referencing the address (it is removed from your user's collection, or changed to a newer one) it doens't mean that it needs to be removed from the database.
Try removing the old address using the EntityManager when you update the user instance. It will get deleted from your database table as well.

  • Possible solution to slow internet speed

I'm not promising anything here but this worked for me. I recomfigured my AEBS from scratch and didn't fool with anything else. now the weird part that made my base station work finally was placing the base station on its face (part with light facing down) my connection is great once again. I also placed the Airport farther away from the modem . I think the New AEBS can't handle & causes interference with other electronic devices(in my case the cable modem is next to it with my macbook.)
overall, I think the EM field around the base station might be a cause of all the problems

I had the same problem. I had WPA enabled and my internet was slow and would not go over 4000 kb on speed tests. With no security i got 16000 kb.
There are quite a few bugs in the Airport Extreme. I have slow wireless with WPA and i cannot open any ports using NAT-PMP or port mapping.
    Very disappointing.
Apple better release a update soon or i am goin to return it and buy the dlink dir-855 when it comes out. I want a dual-band wireless router.

  • Possible solution to slow upload speed

After my old home built rig died I built another. Speedtest.net consistantly showed at least 75/75 with old rig and new one was 85mb down and only 35mb-40mb upload. Having seen this in the past I explored. Old rig used onboard Atheros network interface card (aka 'NIC'), new rig has onboard Realtek NIC.
Problem: Slow upload speeds but only after computer has been unused for a period of time. We all do this.
Note: Every single Windows install by default has "'Power Management" turn off the NIC when not in use. To disable NIC power down go to driver properties "Power Management" tab and uncheck all boxes.
After ruling out the obvious - Your PC, Router and Verizon tests, and have flushed your browser cache and DNS, here is the most likely problem causing intermittent slow upload speeds:
TEST 1: Upon complete computer reboot (not sleep or hibernate) up and download
                  speeds are ok.
SYMPTOM: Computer first powers down (after whatever minutes power settings are set
at) and is then woken up.
    1) Newer Realtek NIC drivers have three settings of interest under the 'Advanced' tab.
1a) "Energy Efficient Ethernet" Default is 'Enabled'. Set to 'Disabled'.
1b) "Green Ethernet" Default is 'Enabled'. Set to 'Disabled'.
1c) "WOL & Shutdown Link Speed" Default is "10 mbps First" Set to "Not Speed
                  Down".
    2) Problem occurs when computer sits unused then NIC powers up again to the "10
        Mbps First".
    3) Though the NIC will eventually uprate to higher speed, it will start at lower rate thus
        causing the problem.
    4) My old Atheros NIC driver did not have the driver settings to save power and the
        Realtek one did.
    5) Other NIC manufacturers may or may not have driver based power settings. At the
very least go in the "Power Management" settings and uncheck boxes so NIC never
        powers down.
Common problem many do not think of in todays 'instant gratification' society. This happened way back in Win 3.11/95 days and continues to this day in all Windows OS's.
Hopefully others find this useful. And yes I shared this with Tech Support for their peer review process. Even if this works for some not all this is a common problem many tend to forget.
    ~Peace

Did it make any differnce to your speeds?
I have had this same issue on 2 systems for a year or so.  Both have the same realtek nic built in on the mobo - Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.  Both systems have the same issue with speeds.  have a 75/75 connection they both show a consistent download of around 83 and upload varies between 5 and 15.  I've tried changing drivers and got the same results.  Made the changes you noted and no difference.  I figure it's a mobo problem.  I added intel nics and that made a little diffrence - got the upload speed up to about 30.  As I have other systems that work fine - consistently about 83/85 - I just finally ignored the issue and never bother doing uploads on the defective systems.
Would be nice to know the answer though.

  • Possible solution to dv6000 overheating in use

Hi, I am hoping this is in the correct section under Notebook hardware. This is about the HP Pavilion dv6000 running Windows XP, Service Pack 3 and relates to overheating when using the laptop with the N20789 charger.
Observation: Use of a different 19v power supply to the manufacturer's original might in some cases help reduce the operating temperature of the HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop. Overheating is of course a critical issue with these laptops therefore anything which could help reduce the operating temperature must be taken seriously.
I was recently given a Pavilion dv6000 in good condition but I couldn't try it out because the battery was not charged and the laptop did not come with a power supply. However, I did have a spare toshiba 19v supply which in the absence of anything else to satisfy my curiousity I decided to adapt for use with the dv6000 laptop.
After a bit of trial and error, I found a plug in a plug-tips kit which seemed to make contact ok and soldered this to wire from the toshiba supply. This is an adequate fit in the laptop,  whereas the correct hp power supply uses a specially designed plug which is profiled to keep it held firmly in the power socket of the laptop.
The dv6000 powered up and works fine attached to the 19v toshiba supply, although it does get fairly hot in use. I am careful to allow space for the flow of air under and around the laptop but it still heats up in a way that I have not seen before.  After several days of testing the dv6000 awith the toshiba 19v supply it performed well and I just accepted that it was going to get a bit warm or sometimes hotter than I would like in use.
Yesterday I was pleased to be given the original hp power supply which came with the dv6000 and which I immediately tried out in place of the toshiba supply. The special hp plug clicked satsifyingly into the power socket on the laptop but after a short time using the original hp 19v supply I noticed the following:
    1.   the touchpad of the dv6000 became uncomfortably hot
    2.  the top surface of the laptop near to the touchpad felt very hot in places.
    3.  airflow from the rear vent of the dv6000 became extremely hot and uncomfortable on the hand.
I therefore disconnected the hp supply in case it caused the dv6000 to overheat or to crash and rather sadly went back to using my adapted 19v toshiba supply.
Conclusion: Before jumping to conclusions this sort of experiment would need to be conducted over several different dv6000 laptops all performing the same tasks, with figures to read for CPU and GPU temperatures etc. However, this was such a startling observation that I had to report it immediately.
Both of the PSU 'bricks' get pretty hot in use. This in itself is not unusual, but the hp psu was the slightly hotter of the two. Again this would need to be verified.
In the absence of any more data, which would necessarily include data on the many replica power supplies available fro the Pavilion series of laptops, it must be said that no final conclusion can be drawn.
Nevertheless there was an impression to be had that the running temperature of the dv6000 when connected to the original hp power supply was worryingly close to component melting levels and nothing like the gentler experience I had been having with my adapted 19v supply.

  • Torrent Clients - Possible solution to slow speed

You can always check with Glasnost to see of you are being throtled:
    http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparency/bttest.php
    But before that try this:
Set your torrent has client (usualy in prefernces) to 'limited' for upload and download rates
and specifying a value of 999999 in their respective boxes.
I previously had the scheduler on 'full speed' and it was very, very slow..
In fact the same file has just gone from 2.5kb/s ro 64kb/s.
Let me know if it works!

  • Possible Solution to Speaker Sounds or Channels Cutting Out or Miss

I was playing Oblivion and noticed my 4. Xfi setup sounded odd ... checked in Creative's THX Setup control panel and it was set to 4., but when I checked the right front speaker I got nothing and it sounded like the right front was somehow being mixed with the two rear speakers ... very frustrating. This has happened to me before and there are a lot of posts from users who have experienced it as well. I think the last time I uninstalled and reinstalled all the drivers to fix it but I didn't want to hassle with that this time so I tried something simpler first. I clicked on "Restore Defaults" in the Audio Console and now I'm getting all four channels again, from the correct speakers ... Not sure what setting made the difference, but I'd recommend trying "Restore Defaults" to anyone who has a missing channel ...

    Hi
I may have the solution to slow performance when using multi core processing. I was testing out realflow 2013 and noticed simulations were talking a long time to finish when using maximum threads 32. I set the threads to 8 and the simumlation was twice as fast which did not make any sense to me. The simulation was taking 1min 24 secs to finish using 32 threads and 45sec using 8 threads. I realized their has to be a problem here. So I went into my BIOS and disabled Hyper Threading. So now instead of having 32 threads I only have 16 threads. When i went back to try the same simulation again this time the 16 threads was only taking 24secs to finish. and the 8 threads was taking 35secs to finish. This made a lot more sence to me.
Anyway so once I realized that turning off Hyper Threading fixed my simulation problem maybe it might be the cause of my slow performance in AE using multi processing. I tried AE and now multi processing is working great very fast now and stable. MP renders start right away now instead of getting stuck on frame 2 or saying initializing background processes and never ever doing anything. Before I had to keep disabling MP and re-enabling it in AE to get it to start working again and still it wasen't very stable
If anybody is having issues with slow performance from their Multi processor systems try disabling Hyper Threading in the BIOS it might just fix your problem.
    Hope this helps

  • Possible solution to wireless/bluetooth/and system performance issues.

I had a TON of issues with Leopard after my Tiger Install, network, bluetooth, video playback, iTunes playback, system performance and freezing just to name a few. I tried everything (reseting PRAM, etc.) to fix the problem and have done a variety if installations half a dozen times. Yesterday I took out my 3rd party memory I had installed (Corsair if anyone cares) and did an erase and install. I've had no problems so far and everything seems to be running great. I'll keep everyone posted on any progress. You may want to try this if you think you may have the same issue.

  • Very slow buffling after changing a software from Norton 360 to Norton Internet Security

When I download movies using "Norton 360", it doesn't take long time. But when movies are downloaded, using "Norton Internet Security", it takes 10 times longer. (For one-hour movie, it takes more than 2 hours to watch it, waiting for very slow~ download/buffling).

Antivirus software is NOT needed if the Mac you are running is only running OS X. Antivirus apps interfere with normal performance and operation of a Mac because they program too many controls into the main OS X system software impacting general performance of your Mac.
Here are some of my tidbits of advice on how to avoid viruses in the future, if you encounter a virus, again.
Some anti-virus solutions can slow down your Mac, but to be honest, the best anit-virus app is you, the user and your brain.
Don't visit questionable websites or website you are unsure about.
Don't use Torrents or engage in "Torrenting"
Don't install pirated software or software downloaded from a questionable or unknown websites or untrutsted sources.
Java is still a vulnerability concern,  if you do not need it, don't use it.
Use a browser filter and pop-up blocker
Don't open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize.
Install security updates when they become available
Educate yourself as to what threats are common and active.
In effect, use your own brain as the antivirus filter.
Follow that advise and in MOST cases, you will be fine and won't risk your Mac to potential Trojans, malware or viruses.
If you feel you need some baseline virus protection that is minimally invasive on the Mac OS X system, install
    ClamXAV
