Possibly switch to Droid X

I know a few posts address the issue of possibly switching to the droid x from an incredible but i don't feel any of them really get at what I am curious about.  I am still within my 30 days to return my incredible and was thinking about switching to the droid x mainly because i hear it has a better battery life and it seems like it will receive better support in the future.  Also the processor and GPU are supposedly better and I want some thing will last in the long run.  So I am just wondering if any other incredible users are thinking about doing the same or possibly already have.
Also any real world testimony about battery life and just general comparison of the 2 phones would be appreciated.  I have looked at comparisons of the 2 phones but real world use is different then some guy reviewing the phones for a week.

I got this info off phonescoop in case you are interested to know....

  • Text Message A Contact That Switched To Droid

I have a friend that used to have an iPhone, and iMessaging with her was great.  Except that she switched to a Droid device recently and can't receive my texts now because my phone keeps sending them as an iMessage.  I haven't switched to iOS 6 yet.  How can I fix this?

you cannot...she can. tell her to remove her apple id from the iphone she used to have (from the imessage section). or secondly, you can send the message to her mobile number and not her email.

  • Considering switching to Droid X..

I've got some questions about the phone...
    1. how does it do in pockets? Is it easy to fit, or is it uncomfortable?
    2. Does the alarm have the option of setting an alarm to go off everyday? Or do you have to manually turn on the alarm each time?

As the other Guys Have said an i'll pute my two cents in as well if U dont mine that big ol screen an other goodies on the X its for u an i've done all kinds of stuff with my X from Listing to Music in many different ways to taking some great pictures of a Steam
Engine thats as old as all us possibly!  it was built in 40's an still Running Today but right now its sleeping till around April when they'll wake her up. then thats when the real fun begins. ok!  back to to phone it searches the web ok even better if got Wi-Fi. U
can find many good apps to pute on her but check them out first or ask one of the many great contributors on here for suggestions on them if Ur not sure because one bad app equals a not very good X . An having a X with the Hiccups    can make
want to return it as fast as you got it . So if U get one have fun with it an give some Post an let us know what u think

  • Switching from Droid Incredible to Droid X

Well I got my Droid Incredible on the 3rd of August. I loved the phone but changed my mind to Droid X. Since I ordered the phone online Verizon told me I would have to pay the $100 mail-in rebate I never paid buying online, honestly I didnt have the $100 dollars right now so she says I can send it back myself through fed ex. She hands me a box and a fed ex bill stamp and tells me to write on the receipt that I want to swap to Droid X within my 30 day warranty and the reasons why I want to swap, heres the problem, I don't see how Verizon is just going to give me a new phone just because I wrote on the receipt, but that is what they told me at the store. The phones still activated, even though I deleted all my personal data. Tell me what you people think about this, Do you think I will get the Droid X sent?

I would call the online ordering department and discuss this with them. That way, they will know it is coming and what your wishes are as opposed to a box just showing up with a phone and a message scrawled on the receipt.

  • Possible Switcher -  Got some questions

I'll be honest, i use some macs at my local college, they have G5 towers that are loaded. But the thing is out of 5 machines 2 are out of commision. And one of the 2 has been repaired once already, while the 200 pc's in the room seem to hum along. I am seriously considering a mac book at the end of the year.
Second, as i use the mac, Safari in particular seems to have a tendancy to suddenly quit, which i do not have this problem running windows on my mac machine.
    Thoughts and comments welcome.

I'll be honest, i use some macs at my local college,
they have G5 towers that are loaded. But the thing is
out of 5 machines 2 are out of commision. And one of
the 2 has been repaired once already, while the 200
pc's in the room seem to hum along.
Let's re-read this quote carefully, shall we? It's a little math problem: there are 5 macs in the computer room and 200 PC's. If 300 students decide to use the computers, and 200 are PC users, while 100 are mac users, how many users will there be per machine?
Yes, indeed! 1 person per PC and...20 per Mac. Even if there were only 20 Mac students they'd still be used 4x more often. And guess what? If two out of 200 PC's are broken...who's gonna notice? Well, let's be fair, you'd have to have 2 out of every 5 PC's...tell you what, let's have half go down. That's more PC's down than Macs...and yet, you'd still have 100 PC's running. So the PC room could keep humming even though HALF of them were down.
And consider this: Let's say only 10 students use Macs...but 200 use PC's. Which do you think is going to get repaired? And given that it's a PC world...which do you think the computer experts at your school know how to fix? Mac or PC?
And then there is the cost difference. How much of a discount is your school getting on those PC's as a package deal? If a PC breaks, replace it...cheap--it's part of the package deal. They're only meant to last a year or two anyway given that the seller is selling them to the school at...what? $300 each? Less? The Macs cost more because the school decided to buy only 5, not 200. Now those Macs have to last much longer, and if they break, they don't get replaced. They sit there...broken.
Do you see what I'm getting at?
Computers break. They have panic attacks, mother boards fail, disk drives die. It happens to all computers. But that computer room is more likely to fix or repair the PC's because more students use them and they're part of a cheap package deal which probably includes free repairs or replacements. They're less likely to bother with the Macs because fewer students use them and they cost a lot more to replace--possibly to repair if the school doesn't have Apple Care. So if the Macs go out of commission they stay out even if their problem is easily fixed. Why bother when there are only a handful of Mac users in the whole school?
In short...you haven't got a fair comparison there. You really need to talk to a school which runs Macs and only Macs. But I'll tell you this--there are research labs that use only Macs. And movie studios. And banks. I kinda think they wouldn't use them if they weren't reliable. Schools have to take what they can get...but labs and studios and banks can buy what they want. And Macs are often what they buy.
Speaking from personal experience, I've found that Macs have an amazingly good track record. There are clamshell ibooks still being used, and on average, a Mac Laptop will last you 4-6 years. A desktop longer. They are well built and reliable, and have a good resale value. And the Mac OS is not (not yet at least) in need of protection from viruses. I have hopes that one day, you'll walk into that computer lab and they'll tell you that all the PC's are down because of a virus.
Only the Macs will be up and running.

  • 3109:Is that possible to switch screen colors off ...

    Hi
I am new user of Nokia 3109 (it should come tomorrow). I would be interested to know how to (if possible) switch the mobile screen colors "off"...I mean to get the phone screen working monochrome ? Is that possible ? Anybody knows ho to do that ? Why I want to do this? - I hate chargers, cables, I want my phone battery to last as long as possible and I think monochrome should do the job. And, also, I noticed most of color screens are hard to use in bright sun, I am in Melbourne - there is plenty sun here !
    Thanks in advance

It is not possible to make the phone run in monochrome. You could probably find a basic theme with very little colour in it but it wouldn't save you any power.
Most nokia's tend be good in sunlight. If you have any difficulties change your theme to one with better contrasting colours.

  • How to sync Yahoo Calender into a Droid Pro

I switched to Droid Pro from a Blackberry Curve.  One thing I am missing.  I can not get the Yahoo calender into my Droid Pro as per Verizon Technical Support.  Is there anyway to get Yahoo calender into a Droid Pro.  I will appreciate if someone could help.

That is only for the gmail calendar. I know that yahoo has a couple apps in the market, you may want to check those out and see if they give you the option. I also know that through the gmail web interface you can sync with different calendars, like holidays, professional sports schedules, etc. you may want to check your options there and see if you can sync with yahoo that way, then you go into settings for your calendar on your phone and choose which ones to include.

  • Music and photos from Droid to Iphone4?

I recently switched from Droid Incredible to Iphone 4, and I don't know how to get music and pictures transfered over. Can someone please help??
Verizon store told me to sync to iTunes, but didn't get an explanation of how...

Where on your computer is the music that you put on your Droid stored? You need to import this music into iTunes and then sync it to the iPhone. Also, with photo, if you are a PC user, you can choose a folder in iTunes where your photos are and sync them to the iPhone too.

  • Non Camera Droids?

I love tech toys like everyone else here, as soon as I started hearing rumors of the original Droid with the slide out keyboard I knew that's what I wanted to get (after many, many, full retail price purchases of "top dog" dumb phones). I love that phones are getting impressive cameras, and the idea of front facing cameras for video chat is, well, Back to the Future awesome status.
Unfortunately, working for the Govt. where I work, I can't have a cameraphone. I bought a BB Bold 9650 non camera, and the BB system sucked so bad that paying the early termination fee was worth it to stop using it and get rid of the second line I added just for work. So, after going back to just my Droid on one line I ended up removing the lense cover on my Droid, drilled out the camera, and filled it with an epoxy rendering the camera PHYSICALLY disabled. That method of having a non camera phone is perfectly acceptable at work. I'm comfortable doing this to phones with rear only cameras, but front facing ones are going to be a different story I'm imagining.
I'm in my upgrade window right now, but the only phone that I'm seeing that's a possibility is the Droid Pro, but there's 2 problems with that one - 1: it's got a traditional sucky BB layout for the keys, and 2: I can't confirm it actually has a non camera option. I've seen rumors, but nothing as far as options for ordering it that way.
Are there any 'other' non camera Droid phones coming out? I know these are mainly consumer driven devices, thus they have 15 cameras strategically placed all over the phones, and if I could have one and bring it to work, believe me I would in a heartbeat... but is there anything on the horizon for those of us that have jobs that require security clearances?
    Thanks in advance..........

I suspect the reason Verizon has not invested in the development of a non camera smartphone is the market is SOOOOOOOOO small for such a device, the price of the device would be ridiculous large for the consumer.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my Droid and don't feel an overwhelming urge to swap it out for anything else just yet... my power button doesn't work quite right from time to time, but this phone has seen heavy use over the past year and hasn't let me down. I'm just kind of disappointed that the big V doesn't have many options concerning non camera phones. Besides, the Droid is probably the best phone they picked up so far... not loaded up with all that MotoBlur crap and apps you can't get rid of (useless bankrupt blockbuster video app anyone?). Maybe I'll go back to rooting this phone again and have fun like its brand new again.

  • No Way to Update Location Status on FaceBook via VZ Navigator on Droid X?!!

I just upgraded to a Droid X from an HTC Imagio and have a question regarding the VZ Navigator software on the Droid X. On my Imagio, the VZ Navigator had an option to update your location status on FaceBook so that after you arrived at your destination, you could post the address where you were on your FaceBook page. I cannot find any such option in the VZ Navigator software I installed on my Droid X (yes, it was specifically listed as being only for the Droid X!); I can only find the option to share your location with someone else by sending it to their e-mail address. Am I missing something here? Is that just not possible on the Droid X? I liked to do that as I drive a tractor-trailer for a living and my family members on FaceBook could see where I was most of the time!
Please correct me if I am wrong!

I was wondering if you have looked at Google Latitude (preloaded on the Droid X - App name is 'Latitude') This will give your family more real time updates on where you are located, instead of having to wait for you to update your facebook page. You can control which people have access to your information.
My dad drove truck for a living for 27 years, and retired about 9 years ago, so I know what its like for your family to wonder where you at at different times.
I know that this doesn't answer your question, but just wanted to let you know that there are alternatives to help solve your problem.
Have a good day, and bless you for helping our country move goods to where they need to be. Be safe out there.

  • No network connection after switching devices? Please Help!

So yesterday I switched my Droid Eris to a used but in good condition Droid X on-line (using the activate/switch device). I can make calls and text on my "new" phone, but I can't access the Market to download apps or go on the web browser. It says that I have no Network connection. I went ahead and turned on my "old" phone (Eris) and even though I cannot make calls or texts, I can STILL access Facebook, Market etc....
    What is the problem?

    Jason0813 wrote:
Yes, I'm sorry I didn't mention. I programmed the phone by calling *228 and selecting option 1. After no luck with internet access on my "new" phone I went ahead and turned both off overnight. Still no luck.
    Any other suggestions.
The other phone should not function so there is something screwed up with the switch over. Call *611 and have customer service look into the problem. 800-922-0204 is the land line number for Verizon.
My guess is the data plan has to be switched over to the replacement device in order to use the net and Google Play Store.

  • During call switch off display to black screen

During call suddenly switch off display to black screen. Calling continues normaly , but is not possible finish this , I must switch off and on full iPhone...... And once one problem - I was think, so this is problem cohere with " Show My caller ID " in setting and now I see, so this function is OFF and is not possible switch ON..... Can you help me any ?

When you make a call or get a call, the screen is supposed to turn off when you bring it to your ear (it has proximity sensors that activate when on a call). It does this so your face doesn't touch the screen while active and push a button.
When you pull it away it is supposed to turn back on.
If it doesn't turn back on there are two possible causes. First case is those that buy and use a case for the phone. If you have a case, there is a good chance you are either using an older case (made for first gen iPhone) on a newer iPhone 3G or your case is just poorly designed. Either way, some cases have a habit of covering the sensor thus it cannot tell when you put the phone to your face or pull away.
If you have a cases (especially if an older case on a new iPhone 3G) remove it and see if the problem continues.
The other possible problem is just a bad sensor. So if you are not using a case and having this problem, take unit to an Apple Store for replacement.
My guess is that you are using a case that was made for the 1st Generation iPhone and not the new iPhone 3G (there is a difference...you cannot use an older case on the newer phones).

  • Incoming calls always "Unknown" ?

I just recently switched to Droid Razr Maxx HD. Everything works fine but all incoming calls have neither name nor number. They always come in as "Unknown" even when they are in my contacts. Especially family & friends are NOT ID blocked on their end. I checked all the settings and everything seems to be set the way it should be. Can anyone help, please?

Quite an interesting situation you have going on here, Montill. I'm commited to helping you find a solution. Thanks to B33 for your input. I reviewed the options on your device, but I was unable to locate any option to turn caller ID on or off. I was going to suggest that you ensure that your contracts' numbers are saved into the phone correctly. For example: If your calls come from a ten digit number (xxx-xxx-xxxx), but you have the contact saved as seven digit number (xxx-xxxx) the caller ID on your device may not recognize the number.
It's also possible that the caller ID feature is not on your account. Once you've confirmed how your numbers are saved into your device, let me know if you would like for me to review your  account. Follow me, send a PM (private message) and provide me with your wireless number. Have a great day.
