Post 2.0.1  - iTunes just wants to restore

I received the error message "iPhone could not be restored" while attempting to install 2.0.1.
I followed the recommendations (reset the phone to original defaults and then performed a RESTORE). The phone works fine, all my data is there, and 2.0.1 was installed.
However, the iTunes still wants me to "set up your phone" with (another) restore recommended. I posted this question in the wrong forum yesterday (hardware) and so when I synced the phone and recharged it last night, I noticed that some podcasts were transferred but while the phone is selected in iTunes, it remains on the SET UP YOUR PHONE page.
So I have lost the ability to change any of the parameters for the sync process........

  • HT201210 Ipod told me to connect to itunes because it was disabled. Now it's telling me to put in the passcode before I can use it with iTunes. I just want to restore my ipod. I have also tried recovery mode.

I forgot my password to my ipod touch and locked it out. It told me to connect to iTunes and I did. I put it in recoery mode and started the 5 hour download of the restoring process. I tried it many times it always ends up stopping and an error occurs. Now iTunes is telling me I have to put in my password for my ipod before iTunes can use it and recognize it. But my ipod is still telling me to connect it to iTunes and I just want to restore my ipod.

Try Recovery Mode a few more times.
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • HT201302 I have iphone 5 and itunes on my windows laptop, So i just want to restore the photos

I have iphone 5 and itunes on my windows laptop. Recently i back-uped my iphone and started using my iphone as a new one. But all the photos were in the back-up. So i just want to restore the photos. Since my laptop is windows, i cant get them by iphotos.
I was thinking that if i can sync just the photos to my iphone from by back-up, i can get the photos from iphone by transfering the files to my laptop. But i couldnt figure out how to sync just the "photos" of the whole back-up.
Do you have a better idea for getting the pics from the back-up? If not, can you help me by the option i suggested?

    Hello SenaAkcicek,
If you want to restore data from a backup to your iPhone, you will need to restore the full backup, as you cannot select what items to be restored to an iPhone.
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
    Take care,
    Alex H.

  • Help I just want to restore my ipod touch!!!!!

I want to restore my ipod touch but everytime i do i get an error message saying an unknow error has occured and ipod could not be restored. i dont know what else to try please help

    - Was that the complete wording of the error message? Usually an error number or other information is included besides saying unknown error.
    - Try resetting the iPod.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try restoring on another computer.

    Hi apiccolo5,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
See these articles for steps that can help you resolve the issue you're seeing:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
    Best,
    Jeremy

  • ITunes always wants to restore my iPod Touch (4th gen, IOS 5.1.1) constantly

I have an iPod Touch 4th gen, IOS 5.1.1
When I plug it into iTunes, I get an eror message saying:
"iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod. Go to the Summary tap in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings."
I have restored my iPod like the message says, but once it is done restoring and I have unplugged it from the computer, the next time I plug it in the message comes up again. I have tried reseting both from backup and as a new iPod.
    Please Help!

    Mabe this:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .

I assume you don't have a backup on an external HD. You always should, because then you could easily fix your problem.
Boot in Safe Mode. See What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107392 Takes a while to run, but it usually "fixes" problems.
Safe Boot takes longer than normal startup

  • Windows sees 4G iPod Nano, iTunes only wants to "Restore" it

My problem is a variation on what appears to be a constant theme around here. Windows XP will recognize my 4G iPod Nano (16GB). It even gives it a drive letter. However, iTunes will only display the Software Version and Serial Number on the DEVICES Summary tab page. In the Version section of the page I can click the Restore button, but the restore will fail approximately half way through with the following, and I discovered vague, error:
+The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1429).+
I've spent about 6 hours researching and troubleshooting this now, completing all the steps here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1372 and here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1493. I've also uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes and the USB drivers a bunch. Still no joy.
    I'm open to suggestions.

Could you confirm your Presario's *model number* for me please? (Sometimes with an HP/Compaq, the number that comes up in the iTunes diagnostics is a "product number" which is applicable to a range of different models.) The following HP document may be of assistance ... I'm looking for what it refers to as "Identifier 1":
    Certainly. Using HP's numerical identifiers:
    1 - V3000Z
    2 - RD153AV

The full product number from my infoice was EPP00RD153AV. When I use this,
When I use the product number (RD153AV) on the Compaq Support page it sends me to *Compaq Presario V3000Z CTO Notebook PC* (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=3180330&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&la ng=en&cc=us).
